President Trump has done it again. I'm Dave Anthony. Fox News imposing more tariffs on more imports that went into effect after midnight north and south of the U.S. border. Fox's Alexandria Hoff details them from the White House. 25% on all imports from Mexico, 25% on Canadian imports as well. That would be 10% on Canadian energy and a doubling of existing tariffs on Chinese imports now at 20%.
So Beijing was quick to turn around with a 15% tariff on American food products. Canada's promised tariffs up to 25% against more than $150 billion of American products. And Mexico's president just said she'll detail their retaliation to the tariffs on Sunday. Trump critics warn more tariffs will cause more inflation, but Treasury Secretary Scott Besson downplays that, telling Fox. With the China tariffs, I am highly confident that the Chinese manufacturers will eat the tariffs. Prices won't go up.
The U.S. is putting on hold all military aid for Ukraine after providing billions of dollars worth of weapons and ammo and other gear since Russia invaded. The pause comes days after President Trump's contentious meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky. He said he thinks the war's going to go on for a long time.
