Hoping to reach a ceasefire. I'm Lisa Lucera, Fox News. Nearly four hours of talks today between U.S. and Russian negotiators as they hope to reach a deal to end the war in Ukraine. Russia's lead negotiator says a deal breaker for them are NATO peacekeeping troops. U.S. troops will not be sent to keep the peace in Ukraine. And separately, President Trump says he won't consider pulling U.S. troops away.

The Trump administration is facing lawsuits brought by labor unions and other groups concerned about privacy, though today a federal judge in Washington refused to immediately block Doge from accessing government data systems or taking part in mass layoffs of federal employees.
The flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder from the commuter jet that flipped over on the runway at Toronto's Pearson Airport yesterday have been recovered. The jet was carrying 80 people and one of its wings hit the ground, causing the accident and starting a fire while trying to land, injuring 21 people. Today, officials credited first responders and the cabin crew for leading that evacuation. But a passenger on the plane tells Fox he and a woman next to him helped others get to safety.

The Taliban making a historic visit to Japan. A Taliban government delegation from Afghanistan is in Japan as it makes its first official visit there since its August 2021 return to power. The visit seen by some as a move to gain international recognition by the Taliban, which has sent envoys to neighboring and regional countries, including Afghanistan.
Central Asia, Russia and China, but has rarely ventured far from Afghanistan. Japanese media reporting the foreign affairs, education, economy and health officials from Kabul are on a week-long visit described by a Taliban official as part of efforts to become an active member of the international community.
