The travel nightmare after Christmas. I'm Tom Graham. Fox News. Severe weather impacting Texas, causing ripple effects nationwide for holiday travelers. Houston facing the threat of tornado touchdowns as Mother Nature threatens the nation's fourth largest city, and they're not alone. Both airports in Dallas, Love Field and DFW, the average delay there, almost two hours, and that represents an improvement over what we were watching back on Christmas Eve. This has been the trouble spot.
But today, it's a level three out of five threat. That's from the Storm Prediction Center. We've already had a handful of severe thunderstorm warnings and one tornado warning that was just off to the south and west of Houston. And now you have more of those storms moving through right now. They have now started to clear the Metroplex, the Dallas-Fort Worth area. But, I mean, these problems, the storms were around throughout the day today. That's led to more than six earthquakes.
100 canceled flights. Just brutal. Fox Weather's Ian Oliver. Police investigating a Christmas shooting at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. Three people injured by gunfire, another stabbed, causing a travel snarl. Fox's Evan Brown. Terminals are again open at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport following shootings and stabbings at the airport's Terminal 4. Police have lifted a shelter-in-place order, and at least two people are detained.
The investigators referring to the incident now as a fight. Americans packing brick-and-mortar stores post-Christmas, many making returns after receiving those unwanted gifts. There's growing evidence that an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane crash might have been caused by Russian air defenses. This grieving continues following the Christmas Day tragedy that took the lives of 38 people. Azerbaijan held a national day of mourning today. Traffic stopped at noon and they also held a national moment of silence.
Speculation is really mounting and theories are swirling as to what caused this crash in the first place. Four sources in Azerbaijan with knowledge of the investigation told Reuters that the flight was downed by a Russian air defense system.
Experts were quickly concerned after seeing the damage, particularly the holes in the plane's tail section, which could indicate that it came under fire from Russia. Aviation security firm Osprey Flight Solutions also thought the same thing, saying Ukrainian drone strikes have already hit Grozny and neighboring areas this month alone. Fox's Stephanie Bennett there. Twenty nine survivors were pulled from the wreckage.
A change in presidential administrations could also mean a change in U.S. aid to Ukraine. President Biden, meantime, ramping up support for that war-torn nation. There's a big push by the outgoing president to get as many weapons out the door to Ukraine before he leaves office. President Biden condemned the Christmas Day attack by Russia on Ukraine's energy systems, which killed seven people.
President Biden said the Christmas attack was to, quote, cut off the Ukrainian people's access to heat and electricity during winter. The U.S. has sent $175 billion in aid to Ukraine since the war began nearly three years ago.
It's doubtful the U.S. will continue assistance under the Trump administration. Mr. Trump says he wants to end the war quickly. Many Republicans are ready for something else. Fox's chat program in Washington on Wall Street. Stocks finishing mixed on this post-Christmas trading day.
