Hello, very, very chest, the flagship podcast of mobility solutions here, Z S twenty. That's if you spend enough time to see yes, you just start to talk like that yeah you just can help you.
You starts saying the word innovative and like as all parts of speech, and just lose all track of what's actually work.
You just look around this company he hears no one's .
ever heard of by .
A I able by A I to solution ize the future of innovation yeah.
with A K, with A K five g.
but still happening on once. Hi, every friendly I am here at C. S. Were here in the key connected home were above a number of key is done. Cats, which I am told are powering the home.
which is, we have a view that I would call like the above, gazing upon inm ove the google .
of the threatened store.
That's sorry. That feels right.
What's up android a day? Fears is here. Hi, I chances here. Hi, there's a whole verge team.
Here is, yes, huge number of people we've been out on the show floor is the day after all the press conferences, there's IT all a lot of news here and see yes. yeah. In David, you have some sort of gambit to organize our two c issues.
I do. So we have to do two shows this week at C, E. S.
And the thing about C, E S is it's just a grab bag of things. And so we we broke in into two things. Today we're going to talk about things that are mostly screens.
I believe you called them screen get TTS. And then on thursday, we're going to talk about all the things that aren't screams, yeah, do these things purr together? Yes, all the time.
He is the end. I gram of them, mostly nonsensical and made up in my head. yes. But this is, this is what we're going to do. So today, the screens day. Yeah, there is a conversion of this where we were like, okay, it's kind of a car show. It's kind of A T V show, the site what they think, but it's just like wearing to screens and no screens.
It's a Better organizing principle in CS has for itself this year is just a mishmash ideas like AI. You want A I to do IT. At one point, vw announced that you could just talk to ChatGPT in the car.
sure. Which seems like I don't if you guys. So where have the chat? P. T, often makes things up. So just being confined lid to all you drive is now a feature of the new V W there.
So much of that this year. We made a product last year and now that product, but also ChatGPT and nothing else, is that new? What like telly, the free TV we talked a bunch about on the show. There are new thing is you can talk to ChatGPT to get like recommendations for software, which do you think is a there is because to your point, ChatGPT loves to black makeup movies that don't exist. So you can just like invent movies out of full off and then not watch .
the we should actually with tvs. So if you don't know, see, yes, consumer electronics show. We're here in loss.
Bagus is the biggest industry creature there is that does not mean the entire industry is here in an odor. Apple, for example, is not here, but apple loves to upstage ce. The announced vision pro or this week will get that later in the show.
Microsoft isn't here. They all have employees here and people who are going to run. But in terms of announcements, CS, waxes and waes, yeah, google is here.
But google didn't make a lot of announcements, but everything runs android. So technically, millions of android products announce here. So just it's a real grab bag of things.
The good thing about IT is that everyone is here. Everyone's talking. If you're attack porter, this is fish in a barrel.
Yeah, you're just in los vegas and everyone is talking to drink and ready to tell you a story about something, in fact, ready to tell you how much they think the vision pro costs to build and SHE has been in the best cost of the week for me, just people's yelling numbers and make your numbers out about. But the history of CS, this is a show where tvs are announced. Yeah, in the long history of C.
S, that was a one constant, uh, that has held the show together. And really given IT, it's a center. Gravity is the TV industry shows up here.
They show you new tvs. The buyers from retailers like best buy and amazon, and I don't know a circuit city, circuit city looks they show up. The rc a has a big boothy.
That way the buyers from those big retailer show up the the debate about what will be the hot trends and tvs to sell this year. They place the orders. And then later in the other TV shop on three tailored shops.
That's been the pattern, still the pattern here in T. S. Although interestingly, SONY has broken his pattern out two years ago.
Yeah no T V T S. And the the big SONY booth at the end of all has no tvs in IT. wow. Like there are tvs to show you other SONY stuff. But there is not even like a whisper like zones TV models.
It's like playstation stuff, some camera stuff, half a car than the rest of the car that someone is being with time they talk about. And there's there's just out of the game like SONY wants the high, high end of the T, V market. And then the rest of IT is kind of for grabs.
no. So we should go with the other announces. But that means just the fascinating turn of the shows, I think, about the tech and ministry. This has been the place where TV get announced. And so when he's opting out, samsung L G, which obviously dominated market, they are doing stuff but they're and they're kind of like, what if the TV was clear and like, yeah there in that zone with IT and the cheaper brands that tcs, the high senses, I want to talk a lot about minority. They are coming up fast.
feels like for the big companies, they've gotten kind of less than less practical over time with when they show off. These are just sort of like tech demos. Some of them are very cool.
Tech demos think, and they play toed, right, like the technology is platos so well.
So I don't think that's true. I think people don't care anymore, like the technology keeps getting Better. But my ability to experience said technology has like a long since platoon. So the only thing to do is like get real wired with IT yeah.
And I think part of what we were a little while is like monitors which are now on this run of good, like getting Better to the point where you're not going to start to notice the different anymore. But there was just like more to do with computer monitors, whereas if you, anna kick, S, T, V, that is too high. Rest for you to know the difference. Anyway, you've had that for a while.
my friend. I'm ready to tell. So we should get some news because I think there's this year.
T, S, I think that has been true for minute. It's about to stopping, true again, and really exciting way. So the news, samsung L G, L G has a new transparent ola.
T, V, uh, it's the tea. D, D, T, that's P, V, T. D, V, T. That's the, T, A, is, be for sea through. It's clear.
IT has like a black thing that you can motorize pull down to make IT not clear, but then you can make IT clear. Then a Chris walsh, look through IT. He was burn away and read a piece. I went.
look at IT on the ship flow out. Did you notice a crucial thing about IT? We said one of the one of them, they had their playing like wheel of time on IT. yeah. And they had motion smoothing on on their like invisible people, transparent TV that everybody should care about emotions .
because I like somewhere time cruise .
is furious and I serious. I should see that I just saw like csm o real water falling, you know, flowers opening.
They were beautiful. Yeah.
there was .
one TV like in a corner. And IT was playing just some of the wheel of time being, like, isn't amazon prime great? And I like, is IT and also motion smoothing? Yes, I turned into tom cruz for a moment. I kicked the T.
V. Does the transparent T, V have?
Because to be I like, I .
have a quick. I, so that L, G is big announcement. Samsung has its own riff on a transaction display they're very excited about.
All that seems like has seems famously is under ing Q D olah quantum of olah that's the panel stonies using and it's it's high and olah, uh, they're doing anti glare on that. Here's my argument to you about all these tvs. OLED is hiding a weird, interesting peak.
So the sort of bed technology will let is like where it's at. Samsung display is win quantum dots in front of OLED pixel to make a brighter, uh, L, G. Is doing the microscope, which is me also is really cool.
They just like trying to make the old spread. But the fundamental technology is like, kid, it's point, it's got to about seven, seven inches and that's kind of how big they can get him. L L G is like eighty three, but do you need bigger? So here's ending.
And those are expensive, like a big OA. TV is like pretty expensive, like a SONY. A D is like a pretty expensive TV.
It's four grand, right? And that's about as big as well. Like like eighty three is right.
That's basically if you walk on the showers, are you see many L, D, tvs or everywhere? Yes, yeah. TCL is all in on them high sense is all in.
And them high sense, uh, is picking up from samsung. They know that people think, like OLED is good. So high senses like R R U leds, yeah, this last time. So are cults. So you think people are social, truly, who think people are so done?
Go do IT.
So if if you count up on this, the thing that is happening with backwards and LCD TV in L, C, D, T V can't make light by itself and make the color you need to put a backbeat ind IT. Those back lads have basically got ten more, more advanced the years they started out with, literally forest cent lights on the side of the TV. They look great, like old, old lcds, literally forest ent lights on the side, on the side of the panel.
Then you got into, like, L, S, behind the panels, three L, D. Tvs we were are sucking out. Then he started adding local dimming. You share, turning those lids on our often zones. Then there is a hilarious spec race over how .
many zones of local and which is thousands of zones, right? And knew what he was fect.
Make the l ds themselves smaller. You packed more on, you get more zones. You're not like six thousand zones.
Sixty thousand zones is like one of the clean too many. They are like that. The same time to put to you in from the city to confuse people like ever you want them.
So this thing, if you look at these tvs, that backwards, really bright, they have really, really, really well controlled local dimming, and they look amazing. And their cheap is held to make because they're just still LCD tvs. And the core LCD technology is all the way at the bottom of cost, like all way doing this for that forever.
You have been iterating on is the back light. So now the back light is starting to calm down the cost of the many. And this is like year three or four that we entire many this is year is down the cost curve. And the thing that these manufacturer are doing is are not saying we've made a Better, cheaper sixty five inch TV. They're saying, what if you bought ninety eight inch TV?
Oh, that's too much .
in TCL has a giant display. It's like we are the number one writer of ninety eight and TV country. And this is our fastest growing like model.
There is an amazing graph in the TCL booth that they have printed up next to one of their tvs that is like percentage growth of various sizes. And all the other ones are, you know like steady growth from sixty to zero, steady growth, stead growth. And then the highest one is like three hundred and ninety eight percent growth.
And it's like, first of all, that means you sold sixty and TV and now you sold forty tvs. So that cool. Great, josh.
and get out of here. You make magician.
But I do think we've start this before. And like you would particular are a kind of an OLED purse.
I can very close to buy humanity SONY. And I was, I could do.
but I think all these companies are correctly betting that most people are less obnoxious than you about tvs, and thus will buy something that is ninety five percent as good as OLED for a literal fraction .
of the press and brighter. And basically, what you lose is off access fun. So all that looks perfect from this any angle, L C D screen, your familiar health CD screens. You get wide enough.
Things get weird, right? But it's still pretty good on these TV. Actually, the TV are huge.
Yes, actually very hard to get off access on a ninety H H T T V. Four miles away to the west. So you have this huge TV.
It's really bright because you can make an L C D really bright. And like you have to go look for the blooming. yeah. And some of these many, not all them, they are going to be Prices and ship. But i'm just saying this is the year that, that technology just like enters the mainstream.
And I think IT will probably take the defaulting TV size from sixty five, maybe that's to ninety eight, but I will go from sixty five to seven if I pretty fast because it's gonna cheaper, bigger and brighter and it's gonna look in a store almost as good as the oh yeah, like, almost as good as the oh like. I really had to look on the shore and the show bad environment. It's like bright and crazy, and all the TV are cracked up to to nine thousand .
minutes or whatever, like the best content to make the T. V. Look good. Yeah, there are no blacks.
You cannot. So this is the demo in particularly he sales doing.
There is big TV and it's like it's flour over black. And I have a few that are settings.
Were you playing at the button? Yeah, you can pushed the button. He basically put IT in a moment that too many. It's an old back light and he turned IT on IT does the man back? And then IT looks really good.
Now this is totally control them.
Know.
i'm just a woman not going promise that this is perfect.
do you? Like ten years ago, and video did the hundred, this was like a hundred twenty inch TV, yeah, yeah, yeah. And IT was the ugly.
Everybody like this is post, like, you could only .
check IT out like in a giant warehouse, because that's the place the TV would fit. And IT looks garbage. TV, yeah. IT was just the ugliest T. V. possible.
That's when they that's when we people start doing really intense local dining demos. Yeah TV companies will OK the drop of a hat. A T V company will go this. Here's A T V without the T V. It's just stir back late and i'll show you like hand the screen has A T, V on IT every after is just the back light yeah look at the back light.
move with the image and just watch sander bullet like spiral out and turn into lights.
Pretty, pretty good demo around. I'm saying this is the year you see IT on the show for this year. It's everywhere. And you know, my prediction is always rooted in my firm belief that people pick big sheep screen. And so if you can give people a screen sixty five, say that is almost as good as in a way, but cheaper.
They can pick up on is such .
as they can tell and then if you get in, its brighter, which is always the thing like .
to that point actually like IT makes me think of the the test mark Brown does every year with a smart phone cameras and every year what wins is just the brightest camera yeah like people don't want anything else, but it's just if it's bright, there's lots of colors. And the same thing you see that in the store is the same thing is why they crink the break ness to fifty thousand .
percent that I think is just like, really interesting. Like, oh, man, what if the baseline sizes of a TV gets even bigger next year? And now you're being in fifty five and sixty five, you're picking me too. Like sixty five, seventy five, ninety eight could be gone a while.
My wife said. Fastly refuses to buy A T V above fifty inches for our house. SHE do thinks anything over fifty inches is like outrageous and unnecessary and have IT.
And the number of choices that we have under fifty inches is getting so small. yeah. So like, it's crazy and the .
T V I T good at that.
They're trash. You can buy a good t just why we going to get to fifty five I TCL row, you tell ah, can you like black .
out the sixty five venture on the box? And just.
yeah, the way they measured different measure.
的 T V actually brings .
us like the next thing is happening here, which is for all of this talk about fancy back like technologies and good looking pictures. The best selling T V in .
the country is the frame T V .
the proud.
Those two things totally square for me, really, if you're gna put this increasingly humongous thing in your home, like at eighty five age, black panel just looks .
ridiculous. In my mind, IT looks like a symbol of success, stability. But you are correct. Most people do not just want a world black and their, they would prefer you to have a midline single back like extremely dead Helen doing some art.
Uh, the frame is wildly successful yeah uh, IT is a dominate some some city sales. They love IT uh, IT is i'm just gone to tell you IT is not a great TV like it's to find IT will do the job. They updated at nothing this year because IT is basically fine in their their flying off the shelves. The update for the frame this year is that now in art mode, the refresh rate lowers to sixty hts and steers saying that one.
two sick. If you have .
been following like cell phones for any fear to find, you're like, oh, this is four generations behind very able reproach CT in cell phones. And same sounds like this is log into wall all the time. We're going down to sixty to show a static image of a painting frame is m monopoly. I'm just telling you right now, the frame of monopoly, they feels no competitive pressure and they are like, whatever you want something yeah.
everybody y's out here now making things that they want to be frame competitors yeah. And what they are is just television.
right? So TCL has an art store. It's unclear what that is. They have there's just a sign on the show for it's a TCL r ah and art is written like marker front and all that .
is on the booth is A T V with a bunch of paintings around IT. And it's like, I think fundamental misunderstand what .
the friend is doing. High sense. Z IT looks like a jet since TV that start art T V.
Yes, everyone trying to come at this idea, which is the T V should look good ones off. And I think that I just had such a dominant position here. The wages do not care IT would be cool if the TV was Better.
Well, but that's also one of reasons, I think that transparent displays are interesting is because like this is the something we are talking about last week to that these things are sort of increasingly furniture, and there's a feeling like this should blend into the rest of my house instead of just being a dragani black thing to the point.
The L G. One is, is furniture like, just show with .
great with all these other stuff on the stand. And yeah, I think that's really cool.
I think it's like very, very cool. I would almost want to get one. But like Chris walsh pointed out, the picture is kind of garbage when you just want to watch TV is like it's worse, but it's Better than the frame at least.
So is everything.
but Better than the free? No, I think that's right.
But I think that trend, I think, is super interesting even though we're not getting what we should have because the transparent thing is also going to cost a billion dollars. And IT kind of sits in a really awkward way in that it's actually going to call more attention to itself than a Normal cv wood because all kind of .
condition is not notice TV see a fireplace on for IT have a wire frame fireplace .
mode just twenty four, seven yeah, I love IT.
I the first thing is so cool.
I swear that was the moment I click for me because I like, oh, this is going defensive. Doctors, officers, yes.
like bleeding edge of olen technology and fish in your doctor's office. Something did not some other stuff in the TV. I'm just gonna read you one and here's something to do.
First, i'm going to say this word to you. I want you to guess what you think this feature is. Oh, samsung announced that it's a new twenty four tvs will feature in addition to work out tracker in technical gym, which I think .
our self person .
yeah samsung .
tail MSN g tail tail T A I L yeah is is an acronym .
is IT like popt rol. This is like, for children.
Oh, that's good. Children, okay, it's for child. Like.
okay, this is cops that are dogs. It's details. It's it's pet mood for your television. Oh yeah. Instead of turning IT all the way, often showing art, you show like puppies running .
around with your .
do .
is wrong.
but is and some crimes as degree.
I would love that. Um something related to wifi no.
no, no. HDR are just features in the .
TV bops all .
right? Samsung tail yeah enables real time a video consultation with a vet in the comfort of the users homes tips to advanced doctor tae has a range of questions covered users connect with the veteran experts in real time, whatever they need. This is a start up that samsung saw IT like a samsung deb day and then like, yeah doctor tail, you're part of the TV. It's just part of the T. V.
I was .
so good, so good. The same. Something do mr.
And something had all those apps called like milk. Yes, get milk music. And this is exam, sees a weird name. Start up is like, yes, let's do IT that's like this.
That's a good business model. You just like come up with a start up that wouldn't make sense.
Put a weird name on and be like samon yeah you like to bundle this .
big tech companies, very few them can buy companies anymore. A problem. Nhs really run unless it's a doctor tail and samsung v in which case she's fine. Last piece of sami news speaking the frame such a hit a sample expanding the franchise. They've made a frame speaker, which I still find uterine perplexing because it's just a speaker behind .
a picture yeah that I mean really is like, imagine you took picture to speaker and just hit IT behind a painting but saying .
for you .
so i'll be honest, I don't hate this at all. IT does not need to exist yeah but I love that IT does it's like I K A, make some of this stuff too. What if our lamp was also a sono speaker? What if? What if? I here is a great question.
I just see my samsung has made one turn more innovative than sena nia in that IT appears. You can pick your own picture in the samsung frame speaker, which add, if you, following frame technology, key element in the analogue frame.
World fan that he .
was like that.
This is just one, one picture of Sparkles.
Jouster, do you wanted to look like a hotel room in your house all the time? We got you. Let's go. Yeah uh.
that's T V news. It's again, I wouldn't i'm not saying there's like one stand out TV here apart from the transparent one. That's only the year that like classroom m tvs were introduced to the year that OLED kind of broke. And we're like, oh, this is the future.
I I do think right though, that this is like we're going look back at this is like, oh, this was the we saw all the .
mini tps and I think this is there the TV side of search bigger and I think that's fast. Like if you are running a movie theater chain and you're looking at people by ninety eight inch TV for their house, they look really good.
And what do you put that on the .
two hundred and two hundred.
just like a little of the furniture situation there. I need to basically, for me specifically, I just need a much larger questions to put A T V that on that.
But yeah.
will come back next week for the A V burnit ure show.
We get just me .
the measuring time.
We have the framing. M an apply. I'm just telling you right now, if you are out there, you to to make her put some competitive pretence and staying local dimmed tomorrow.

Our back purchase CS one, the key I connected home, gazing out, I don't see litter out there, told he was .
there hundred percent .
there out there earlier.
shaking my fish in the direction in the google. Lots of other gadgets. Here is here, alex. You've been made a lot of attention to laptops, mons, the gaming gadget. Yes, what's on the windows world .
and first has kind of like, weirdly, the story of .
city really the here like you to you could have one person kind of covers gaming stuff reliably. And now it's like, well, maybe I need to sign more people to .
cover this next year because and also gaming stuff was always sort of off on the one that was like here's like the game or section of c. Now I feels like even these like extremely mainstream brands are mostly making game or things.
Yes, they all are like H P S doing IT and dell. I think they were already doing IT. But the ovo like is even kind of leaning more into their gaming stuff.
They they even introduced another one of those external gp s that everybody does every couple of years. We're all like, yeah, this will be the year and it's never the year. But what I was out, they are doing that. I think they remaining thinking more for professional reasons like using the G P S for A I. But I think that's also why we're saying more gaming stuff is because you need really powerful gp s for AI and also for gaming and says, yeah and that .
would also explain, I guess, why IT seems like a lot of all this gammarus stuff is getting slightly less gamer y. Like my theory, gaming itself has always been that it's just those of the people willing to spend money on fancy things.
And I O, no, I A waste ice you take a, what's your ice you take? If you want to make a Young person by a windows computer, has to be a gaming computer.
But it's interesting.
And that's like all .
all the gaming last twenty five percent faster than any bit, please. Directly the style.
And I agree with him. I totally agree with him. But no, so we saw like a lot of gaming laptops this year and they were all like I wouldn't feel we're pulling them out at a coffee shop like a older now I don't really want to pull out something and .
it's got a vigilant, an lights. Yeah.
yeah. You can hear IT from space because that sounds like it's about to go into space. I'm trying to like avoid that in my life now and we still .
want to play sick games with the .
coffee shop yeah ah I play bolter's me forever at the coffee shop until they ask me plates to leave and IT feels like that much more possible now one because the processors have forgotten Better. The CPU are a lot Better. The GPU have gotten smaller and are very efficient.
Um the batteries are getting a little bit Better. And too, they just are making these laptops and and thinking about the rest of us or more specifically, they're thinking about, as I heard over and over and over again, this work really well in your dorm room. My, okay, mine, no, not mine.
Someone's dormy. yeah. And and so that's really what their positioning for us, for the college kids who who are coming in and they don't want like an adult, the laptop their parents have, but they also don't necessarily want like neon Green lights and stuff all over the last time.
They want to like play games, but also take the thing with .
class yeah and we're sing a lot of cups. A lot of them have new White color ways. I was a big thing for I think both H.
P. And legion were both introducing laptops that we're like White and they look really, really nice. And you can turn that you you know you ve got RGB keyboards and then if you don't want that, you can turn that off.
And that just seems really, really nice. But we saw on from legion, we saw win from the novo. We saw on from hp alien, where the dell one they actually, they used, have a really big exhaust fan on the bag and they still do for the more powerful ones. But the they knew they in sixteen or two they get get rid of the bud. There's like a big bud on the back top and they just said.
classic move, yeah.
shop in the bug in the bud .
first the .
bud got two .
more this about you. And the next year is like the .
but like .
they used to make the ipod like skinny. In fact, why narrow and put every year?
It's actually very accurate.
That is what happens. A lot of times. They like the bug on too big. We have to shrink the bug. And so this year they like they took IT completely off theyve still got up for for their higher and ones.
But for like the forty seventy in below, they are like we don't actually for the in video forty seventy in below there, like we don't actually need to have all that exhaustion. We don't need that heat and self refine. You can do enough for gaming. And that's true. Like most games, s nowaday aren't as demanding, like the really popular ones, the four nize the builders .
just not as demanding. IT feels like after all these years of trying to make like the one laptop that could be all things to all people, all are powerful and all reported and everything, they're finally finding like a pretty good middle ground that isn't for anybody eighty their side, but actually hits like the middle eighty percent yeah, in a way Better way yeah. I'd like.
I consider myself a gamer and I play a lot of video games. I don't want the huge giant laptop like I don't anna Carry IT and super heavy. I don't want to try to power IT some of the times you can even bring the charges on the plane like I I want something that I can play most of my games at reason.
All of that. That's why I like the steam deck. That's why it's a really fun device.
That's why we're seeing a lot more of these like little handheld pcs where you can play that like the msi club was the new one this time, which I really, really like. Not as much as shown. Sean loves the mci class yeah.
But also I I don't like IT because the controls on IT and you seen the controls, I didn't. And so steam, like the steam deck, has the little, little touch pads. And when you can control IT and works like a mouse, everybody else who's doing this right now has destroy sticks and in the dept. And it's just not as good i'm like part of why I like the thing that because I have a bigger an inputs and now it's like they are all super .
customizable to do any kind of weird thing you want with your team yeah .
and said they're now like, okay, what we're going to do is pack in like a little until processor. We're going to make this thing really, really fast and not give you super break controls, but you are getting much Better displays like the msi one. The mmi class has like a variable refreshed rate. It's got decently size battery and it's got the the whole effect a joysticks. So you don't go to the .
drift and stuff to interprovincial the class. It's got a new year until processor in IT and is got its new fourteen th general processors here that sort of .
making all these I think week ago, two weeks ago, they announced right before C S. yeah. And it's the new media lake and they're just really, really good processors.
I feel like for the last couple of years, you would always go to an event and everybody would be like we're going to make really thin laptops next year, like fine, really, really cool laptops, just like apple. And it's going to be awesome. And that never happened. And now it's like, oh, no, they can actually do IT like media, like gives you these really, really thing laptops. It's giving you these really, really cool hand talk gaming devices where you can actually have a lot of power in a fairly small thing and and still have the good dermal because that's also the big limitation like you can't do really fast gaming if the processor over he is, which IT will .
devices on fire. IT doesn't play .
games and are melting, holding onto IT, that's bad. And and IT seems like with with media like they finally found that baLance. And like we haven't gotten to .
check out a lot of these things, I was going to feeling i've heard that specific story so many .
seven hours. Typically, the laptop makers don't like buying to that hype like the process. The intel will come out until you this is a year and the laptop makers generally will be like this is not the .
year we may release. Like one is like a pity they'll often run like a whole generation .
behind for that reason .
because this thing.
sure, everybody jumped on IT. Everybody has stuff. They're really, really embracing IT.
So IT feels like we're finally like was twenty seventeen and twenty eighteen where I was seeing these super thin laptops and may be like next year this is going to to come out. We're going to show you this for real. And I my cool IT never happened.
And this year, like IT really feels like a happening. And it's not just what the gaming ones too is, also like louvois got a new thinking ook thirteen X I believe it's called and IT is just like it's super, super scait. Then the only ways like two point two pounds, it's got a magnesian body.
So it's like still less magney sim. So IT doesn't get fingerprints at all. Everything else in the lombard oz .
was covered in fingerprints.
And that one, that one worked. I was like, does work. And IT was just like, IT feels like a toy. But I was a full laptop. And I like, I I just covered this. I just want to own this laptop now because IT is so thin and so like I was like all macbook .
yeah and that I hope that's true. I running around looking at a bunch of these laptops, there's been this sort of Normal CS good of just like weird ideas about laptops where there some that they're like, what if we had fulda screens and new soil and novel one that runs windows and android, and sometimes they're just like, what if everything about the laptop, we just moved six inches to the left and then that was a laptop. But there is also just a bunch of them this year that there is just like, oh, we just made a Better laptop that is good and IT goes like it's versely what the last three years apple has just like run away with the best laptop to use every day as a regular person.
This is, i'm saying about the gaming pieces. You want something if you want to knock one off, the default of buying a network air, you need to show up with video game in.
which is, I think, part of why apple is now pushing the back as a in platform and. But that only works for the windows manufacturers to the extent that you have also made a pretty good laptop because like i'll figure out another way to play a games and like microsoft doing game pass, which is going to be playable on these other is so like that specific thing is gona fall apart if these windows manufacturer can't figure out how to make, just like an everyday very good laptop that is also Better forgiving. And like that is is starting to spin.
But about the most incredible device here, see, it's the the ovo thinking book, which I believe .
you've seen.
I've seen novo, yeah.
sorry, I I stop your world faster. It's called the sink book plus .
g five hybrid, please biologies the gen five hybrid family. The relationship, as you know, i've always valued the contributions of the gene family. I I meant no respect. Have so many gone five hybrid friends? Your best friend gone .
five like somehow would .
take this joke and actually cancellable, I don't know how would it's coming? You saw this thing that yeah, brit is literally two computers attached the end 呀。
Yeah yeah so that .
has a welcome processor in the screen and an intel processor in the base, right?
Yeah yeah. The base of IT is just a windows machine. And then the top of IT is is a tablet. When you pick IT up your go, yeah, that's a tablet up there because that kind of like has a little wavelet.
It's not as bad as sometimes remember the early the early ones where they put the tablet up and then orrible little keyboard and you would pick IT up and you be like, I could never use this is a little more baLance than that, but it's still got that like heft because he's got a fourteen and tablet like in the top of IT. And what was interesting was you really just like pull IT off you you don't have to press a button, you don't have to anything. You just like grab .
bit and yank because it's cut batteries.
It's have two batteries because .
I love this product. Remember the microsoft surface book? Yeah, that was one of those things that like I don't think anyone bought .
IT except for like six people.
but those of that had like a rabbit fan base of people who like for reason .
the base had a battery in A G, P U, right? So that made this the base of the lenovo thinking book plus genre is a business trust fall on windows computer.
So ho.
what I actually really love this.
it's like it's a weird fun idea. They're like we asked, hey, can you communicate between the two? Like if you're working on something and you pull IT off to pull the the tablet off, you can keep working that they know it's .
two computers for dr. jack. Mr.
yeah, you will have to transfer all of your files. So what .
are to do that .
you can on there. Also like the separating is little difficult because it's it's it's it's a sample. It's it's not ready for release.
And he said it's absolutely going to be Better. The thing finally comes out. So i'm excited .
to two two dollars.
two thousand. And they didn't guard. They figured out the detach I was just read from out. She's being nice. This is very nice. The converting process was also the sample ulgenie and tabling told this is the sample version I try would sometimes needs some coxing but just .
a little I was like at one point is like maybe just doesn't come off. Maybe like this isn't the laptop i'm supposed .
to be looking .
again this season. The guy came like .
he's a one IT. Yeah, that's great. And then that works .
fine after that. This is a classic C S.
Product, somewhat like road, really hard for the issues. Transformer for years where you could dock your phone into a tablet and then dock that tablet into a keyboard. And there was just all the device is all at, i'm so happy .
to think this is C S. Exist again, to sell TV, the unwedded matters, and also to have the motor, a, what was at the XM rix.
the greatest phone .
of all rix.
which they had a laptop and .
then open bad .
and the transformer. And in this guy, just if you can shove two computers in the one computer, C, S.
Is a place for you. I was describe to this morning as half just a place to show off things that best buy I might want to buy. And then half just company saying, is this anything just there's just like a visons rotocop thing about like a wood panel litter box that will also wear your cat.
What's like that is the most. Is this anything that that i've seen in forever? And I love series for that question. You just walk by and this people who are like from france is .
anything does IT way your cat before and after, like, give the nature of a little boy. Good question. By all the cancer, you could also back into way. Something else left is .
a really good question.
I don't know what that data is.
but if you need, I just her cats.
apparently too large to use IT.
you'll tell my apology all that you.
okay. So I asked what? Two more things every year. Razer.
you do a thing.
They do a thing, right? It's like a project about that but pretty child here pretty chill.
They did have like a pad that you can like sit on for your seat and I would like kicking in the butt when you play video .
games would say it's a haptic cushion yeah .
I think they call IT and was kind of impressed. That was like, this is fun, but that that technology has been around for a while, like a lot of people have done that before. And as with a lot of these .
razor ce things, they fit said very, I think anything like .
the year they brought in the razor laptop and head three screens and it's like next year .
this to can exist in no speaking if things you d love to take in the chemistry .
class yeah ah and then there's a samsung flip on called .
the flip I in the position having to create one very important naming things. There are two new samsung display of folding screens. I am on the record as I believe the phones are the future and fold the phones are mostly stupid. Samsung has two new flip phone concepts, both of which basically go not quite three hundred and sixty degrees, because he runs in each other, would like folds all the way open. Uh, one is called the flex in and out all one word.
yeah.
And the other is called, we should, we should talk about this. The other one is either called the flex lippo. Okay, where are the flex lippo?
I just one point. The flipper is a Better name.
A Better IT is, I believe, important to of the words light and simple.
No, no. So lip has to be a because lips hysterical.
he does have to be liable. Yeah, you're sounds not like a medical condition.
sounds a medical conditions.
I like this when you take for your .
heart lippes like the thing you get diagnosed with.
Yeah, I think that's right. But these things .
are lake also receives something I.
We all know a part of the bodies getting diagnosed.
We got David. We, David stay, one of the assure. We have David ers. It's gone. I just but so you you like the first.
yeah, you like .
the the L.
I, P, L, yeah. Just again, it's like the only is this anything scale? Everybody comes every year to see s and is just like, look at this crazy thing.
We made a screen. Do L G has a big booth of depending olets. The competition for like wildest .
derive screams this year .
is kind of hundred televisions yeah, that you can walk through. And this year, L G thing was just like, I don't know, twenty of the transparent TV that s back. L, so I think samsung is doing stuff with phones that I continue to think is really interesting.
And part of the appeal of something like this is that because I can fold all the way around, you don't need an outside screen. And an inside screen which could, in theory, make this thing cheaper and easier. Manufacturer.
what? But then what happens to the inside when you unfold .
IT IT becomes the outside.
So it's just nothing .
you can customize. IT, yes, beautiful pictures.
Will I am this Mercedes, I do, will talk with this on thursday. Alex is doing important for shaddowing here. yes. Well, I am not a song about infotainment systems.
We have until thursday to figure out a fair use way to play the whole song on the protest.
We got to take a break, and we should talk with the vision person. Yeah, did hit this week will be back like with that. Support for the show .
comes from the crucible moments, a podcast from the coia capital. We've all had turning points in our lives where the decisions we make end up having lasting consequences. No one knows this Better than the founders of some of today's most influential companies.
Increasable moments. Let's listeners in on the maker break events that defined major companies like dropbox, youtube, Robin hood and Moore told by the founders themselves. Tune into the season two of crucible moments. Today you can listen a crucible moment stop com, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
I row back C S, day one, day, day one, one ish. Yes, there was a zero. Yeah, yeah.
That's right. I get this wrong. Every year i've been coming here.
This is like fifteen years. I still don't quite know what day of the showers. I think it's one lots to talk about this. We ve got to notice coming later this week, all the rest of IT, there's still news happening. We should not know this episode, but I talking about the thing that didn't happen here, but that will probably dominate the year in tech coverage no matter what the apple vision pro.
which is the screen, get IT and thus fits, which is the episodes.
is mini screens. I heard a rimmer, like I said at the top of show, uh, people, S C S. Are just full of speculation over the screens in the vision pro, how much I think cost build, whether apple is making any money on that or not making any money on IT.
So we are to new the Price. Yp industry is taking off from apple, apple ancient things like here's a Price in a released window. They said early twenty four and they meant IT.
yes. So they said early twenty twenty four and they meant IT. And a january and february second is in shipping you thirty four, ninety nine, three, five hundred rocks for a two hundred and fifty six gig by model. Unclear if you need more stories and face computer. To be fair.
that's going to be like four minutes of space. al. Video, as far as I can tell.
special video on iphone, we can record right now one hundred and thirty megabits per big.
Yeah, that's not small.
You think talk minutes.
I see that's fair. Okay, real minutes, right?
yeah. I would say that the press release anounced vision pro, deeply confusing, does not have any A R or M R apps mentioned. Apps mentioned in the pressure include fantastical and sack .
IT really seems like this is an ipad for your face. And what we've heard from developers is that apple is going way out of its way to tell them not to call IT A R or V R or M R or X R or any of the other thousands of things like apple is very specific that these are special computing. And I don't think that's gonna work. I've been wrong about apples ability to make things into buzz ds before, but that one doesn't really work for me.
But I really does seem like, at least at the beginning, I ve been talking to developers really for the last six months about this and the number of folks that i've talked to who are either sitting IT out of the very beginning because I haven't spends in of time with IT and aren't sure what to do with IT and don't want to ship a crap APP, just have something that the first day or people who are saying basically everything we're doing is based on an ipad APP. Anyway, that's kind of the starting point for these vision. Profs words are gonna ipad APP and bell figured out from .
there yeah that I just not give you the list. So apple d's zone pressure alist, i'm just going off very directly. Here's how apple is communicating with the vision pro.
They say it's shipping. It's coming out. Revolutionary and opening system user face the s you can use your pinching pinch to select things.
I tracking, I tracking what I thought IT was amazing. Then they, like you, can emerge your self in the environment, which is a straight up V R feature, right? That's interesting.
The first thing they tell you about IT is that you can put yourself somewhere else. So it's A V R heads, but a fascinating and it's a first, I say. Then they say, here's all the stuff you can do.
Bullet list, an infinite canvas for productivity first. Bullet in list, fantastic free form gig space, microsoft, three, sixty five and slack. It's like, here's the hooker and the slack, right?
Like if you just read the pressure alist, that's where you land in apple's own message. I think this faster. Maybe this is the best experience anyone have had tire life.
It's just interesting. But this is what the learning on then, the ultimate entertainment experience they are very proud of. These displays more than four K, T, V for you. Try apple T, V plus this in, plus max, other services on the screen, the fields under White. Okay.
that's with H, D, R video. So big data I have about this, which is that apple deliberately doesn't mention netflix because apple and netflix are be thing overall, is of the apple TV plus APP. I have no evidence for this.
That's how I I would believe that one hundred .
percent the users can also enjoy new international experience. I encounter dinosaurs um we are at so i'm just just again, i'm just reading their specialist. I don't i'm not saying these things are good or bad.
I'm just if you just read how they're talking about that they have described you of your head. Dep, yes, fascinating. Uh then gaming experiences access games in the APP store, including two first titles in a park.
Cade, this is where I think the ipad for your face consent. Yes, because what do we know about the quest? The thing that tells the quest is games, fundamentally games and a supernatural, which is a fitness game.
That's what the even matter refers. The quest is games console. IT is by far that you might think the vision Price is going to blow the quest away, but IT is currently the market leader.
So it's the thing you compared to super fruit linger, what the gulf these are ipad games, right? Like, yeah, it's just i'm just the next one is memories, ruth life special videos and photos. This is fascinating.
The people I know who tried this thing said is very convincing ing. I am very excited. Tried have been taking some social videos.
So try that when we get hands on one of these things, put that little minutes of people who own the night phone 4 pro, right? So that very like IT in nothing cust, if assume pretty big over land of apple customers. And then it's then it's the stuff, right? Space, al, face time where you get your avatar AR.
You can t IT, but you need two vision pro to pull this off. fascinating. If the user is wearing vision for a while, in face time, they appears their persona, while others join for mac, apple, ipad or iphone appear in a tile.
Okay, but we just have to see this support. But that still like this, is the cutting edge stuff you can really use IT. Yeah, because you yourself will not experience this.
actually be the persons .
to someone else.
right? If you're on a vision pro and everybody else is on a different apple device for this is actually not going to be a great experience. IT be fine, but like IT won't be again, it's it's a face ipad that's without will feel .
like what will you look and that's IT.
by the way. Then we get very through design and we can tell what that but that in terms of experiences you can have in the head side.
that's apple's list. So I pad stuff in VR stuff.
And yeah, it's just a funny. The first thing describes you will go somewhere else totally VR. And then then he described productivity. Then you can play games from the APP store. And then, and then this personality, you know, like I again, I ve worn one of these things that was very compelling when I wore, is the best of V, R. Experience of her head, yes. But if apple wants to break through into the facial computing and they think the future is augmented reality, actually very unclear where the augmented reality part of this had secum, yeah.
I think the productivity is probably going na be the closest thing that we see there. I mean, one thing I noticed something and it's possible this is just like the way that is written in the press cases, apple mention ons that there are sort of specific speciaal games like made for the vision pro and doesn't say that about any other APP.
So it's like I think there's a decent chance that what we're going to get is like fantastical with a different border in the vision pro. And I think that's going to be a lot of these apps where they're just onna, get rid of the chrome in their apps. So IT feels more to like a flooding rectangle and that's gonna be the vision pro ah and I think this question of like what does a speciaal calendar look like? It's going to take a while.
And I don't know if that's a thing people want or if that's worth working on, if it's can be meaningful ly Better than and I had up and for interface, but IT doesn't seem like anyone has really Graced that. yeah. And I think apple is betting that some combination of face time and just like the interface is going to be the killer up for people because like two point, the I tracking is awesome.
The pinching pinch thing, at least in the demos that we've gotten, is fantastically. It's just fun to use the thing. And I think for at least this first version of thirty five hundred dollar budget, that might get apple farn now yeah.
my theories that apple does not really, really want people to buy this one like IT scale, right? They're going to make thousand, thousand. Maybe I think .
that I had anything .
i've been hearing a bunch this week is how many apple thing is gonna?
Yeah, think I heard yesterday are actually capture. How many displays that can be made will see there are the bleeding edge of this boy tech, uh, so will see. I just think that apple does not want this, this aversion, this thing we asked them .
because it's a develop like yeah they .
just use IT up to yeah .
that's why we don't that's why everything in IT is is kind of weird and and we don't know what the killer APP is because they don't know what the killer p is. So they're like, here's our thing, please don't call IT VR or A R, even though that's what IT is. And I I get whether doing that they want to like their late to that game.
And so they don't want to be feel like their late to that game. So space al computing is the thing. And IT sounds like IT is really, really cool, but it's also just very clear that they don't know what they're doing entirely. yes.
So let me just tell you what you get for thirty five hundred of rocks. You get to the heads at, you get the solo nit band and the dual loop band. Sick, which of the headband sport a light seal and two light seal cushions? The light seal seems like a thing that you got A I go with IT exactly right, because I get a out like the vision pro cover, very important polishing class.
Just keep over that IT twenty.
it's a lot. I know free pot, the battery, the U S B C charging table in the U S B C. add. I think we continually forget vision pro is to another battery with extraordinary battery pack that .
you wear on in your pocket.
Cable, i'm just saying like I agree, I think this to developer IT, I think they need developers to get their hands in the thing they need. People are using IT quite some data, but what is for why is why IT exists. And I think that is just the most unlike apple.
I've seen any products and quite a watch, even the watch which I criticize heavily at the begin and I took them three tries to figure out the watch yeah and a huge success and has a huge but the watch is like a shot on blast of ideas about what you could do with a computer arrived down to you will float with people in school, sending them your heart beat. But that was like a complete john y, i've thought, yes, yeah, not a good thought, fun, but not a thought that landed anywhere. But he is like, you're onna. Do you can put your fingers in your risk, read your hearty and someone else is gna feel your heart beat and they will know that you want to go to the movies.
The vision problem is, like, comparatively.
a little anything .
where is there's nothing at .
s trying to compete with IT people. Fake does exist in real but that .
there are just imagining is like a content creation device. It's a camera more than that is anything. But then yeah, we saw x reel, which is making the sort of like A R display glasses is doing more like degrees, freedom and they can see depth and all this, like they're pushing towards this thing.
But everybody else is still on this. Like we're going to take something that looks passively like glasses and then try to make IT more, more powerful over time. No one, at least as far as i've seen, trying to do the whole swing.
So I mean, meta, very clear. Like meat is right.
H, but that got really here doing nothing either.
And apple were looking at, like apple, why body here? And that's because apples late to the party and apple has to .
actually could be I already launched their failed by ahead sets two .
years ago and three and four and five years ago. Yeah but no. And I also think what i've heard from lunch people this week that the fact that the rabbi met up smart glasses, the ones that actually look like real glasses, have been such a hit with people, is changing. A lot of folks mind about actually the way to approach this.
And i've got a lot of confidence from people over the last to couple of months, but even including at the show, who think the vision pro is wrong in a way that people not usually bet against apple products and are convinced that if we can take something that is closer to looking like a Normal thing you'd wear out at a place like, see, yes, and not a pair scheme goes on your face, we can get that to powerful faster than apple can get division pro to like socially cool, yes. And I think apple usually wins that race, but this is kind of the hardest IT has ever had to try to do that. And I just think this can be self fascinating. But I am sort of on that. No one here like this is the samsung should have been like there's a rumor it's IT doesn't .
have local doing but show your art work anywhere you want a there's a room in google and sampson and do something in 点。
see, because that would create the last time everybody.
everybody I want to, we've run this. We've run this experiment before. Maybe we will see.
But that is, I will say, where C, S. is. great. I love the address of talking about tvs in laptops that are actually two laptop s bolted together.
But i'm together exit would be so happy .
ah but I suspect were going to spend the year talking on the vision pro and because I really know apple's bedding on IT, it's a big new category. A lot of ideas contain anything. And I agree, I think there's something to the fact that the metal glasses are doing well and people like them in a way that we I usually don't see this train hoster is here is taking lot of videos.
A lot of the little events is when wearing a phone. So like on a chest man, so we could like show people with his hands. And our commenters on tiktok, on the social platforms, are assuming there he's taking with the medical. interesting. He is super festing like they're all broken in the conciousness such people think that that's the camera he's using and in my beer, in our director is like that that .
I felt on A I think .
that IT for day one day one day one day one of CS always day one. There's a lots more on the show if we didn't do entire show about not screens yeah and the screen we we think about a car yet it's all cars here. It's um which have are not screens for David. They are not .
screening gadgets but they do have screen. Shut up sorry that it's give me five things .
that all in things don't that's the new squat. Be back little later this week with that episode. In the meantime, if stuff you wanted, something we're here like for a tag porter standpoint, a vision of barrel, we can go find out with anything you want except what the vision process for i'll be for later. That's that's my chest.
And that IT for the verge cast this week. Hey, we'd love to hear from you. Give us a call at eight, six, six verge one one.
The verge cast is production of the verge and box media podcast network. Our show is produced by Andrew marino and leon James. That's IT we'll seen .
next week.
