The heroes, guided by a map, arrive at Corvus Holt Manor, a foreboding manor house in the far reaches of Barovia. They encounter ravens with unusual golden eyes and enter the manor, where they meet Erwin Martikov and Count Kreskov. Count Kreskov reveals a family heirloom, a jewelry box containing a powerful artifact, and requests their help in opening it.
