Based on this evidence, I concluded that the cause of death was complications from a penetrating missile injury to the head, and the manner of death was homicide.
Pat Strader: When I discovered John's body, I also found his gun, holster, and belt. I removed these items before the police arrived because I was worried about getting in trouble for allowing a minor to possess a firearm. At the time, I thought John had been stung by bees and had gone into the water to get away from them.
Steve Blanchard: I noticed inconsistencies in the police reports regarding John's case. The initial reports suggested drowning, but later revealed a gunshot wound. The change in the police department's approach to the case suggested a cover-up. My reporting was limited due to a lack of cooperation from the police or the public.
