Fox Weather. I'm Fox Weather meteorologist Kiana Lewis, and here's the latest from America's Weather Center. Most of the country is ending meteorological winter on a warm note. Above average temperatures have been in place across the central U.S., with most locations west of the Mississippi River warming 10 to 20 degrees above average. The southern plains will hover into the 70s with a run at low 80s. The central plains in the mid-south may continue to see highs in the 60s,

while the northern plains and the Great Lakes will be in the balmy 50s. As for the northeast, though, that warmth will be fading. Going into the weekend, we actually will see about a 30-degree temperature drop. Fox Forecast Center is now tracking an increased threat for severe weather. Two separate disturbances are going to be rolling through the southern plains, and they may fire up some severe storms both Sunday and again into next Tuesday.
