Hi there, I'm Fox weather meteorologist Kiana Lewis and here's the latest from America's Weather Center. We've got a soggy stretch ahead folks as we have a nearly stationary front stretching from the plains all the way through the East Coast and it is going to be triggering widespread showers as well as thunderstorms throughout tonight and into early Saturday. There's more of that ahead as well. Each day we're piecing together this upper level energy that will be sliding along this boundary and it's going to be tapping into that warm muggy air

And that's what's going to fuel rounds of showers and thunderstorms even throughout the weekend. If you're in the Virginia or mid-Atlantic area especially, you need to have a heads up. This is the prime spot for seeing the risk of flash flooding. We're talking storms capable of dumping a couple of inches of rain in just a short amount of time on both Saturday and Sunday, which is Father's Day.
