Hey there, I'm Fox weather meteorologist Craig Herrera with the latest from America's weather center. Major winter storm moves across the Central Plains and the Mississippi Valley tonight in through early morning hours and then reaches the mid Atlantic on Wednesday with accumulating snow in areas of sleet and freezing rain. This is bringing up to a foot of fresh snow to the Ozarks. The winds will cause some blowing snow issues from Oklahoma all the way down to Texas and into the Dakotas as well with record cold temperatures.
The Gulf Coast will see some rain out of this, a low-end flash flood threat from southern Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. This storm could bring 8 to 12 inches of fresh snow to the mid-Atlantic. Major northeast cities will miss out though on the notable snow. This is going to be very heavy across Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. A lot of the impacts around the Hampton Roads area as well. Northeastern North Carolina could see its biggest snowstorm in 60 years.
And snow will be falling from areas recovering from rain. Stay with us for the latest and get the latest weather updates by downloading the Fox weather app at Fox weather dot com.
