Fox weather. I'm Fox weather meteorologist Kendall Smith and here's the latest from America's Weather Center. A high impact severe weather day is underway across the nation with severe storms threatening millions from the central plains into the Midwest. A moderate level four out of five risk has been issued for portions of the upper Mississippi Valley where supercells could produce strong tornadoes, large hail and damaging wind.
The threat stretches south into the Missouri Valley, which is under a level 3 out of 5 risk, with even areas as far south as Oklahoma and Arkansas at risk for seeing severe storms. Alongside the tornado risk, flash flooding is also a major concern. Some of the strongest storms could persist into the overnight hours, making nighttime tornadoes a serious hazard.
While the central and eastern U.S. see well above average temperatures, the west remains unsettled, though improving, with showers tapering off in the Rockies. Meanwhile, dry and windy conditions continue to pose fire weather risks across parts of New Mexico. You can get the latest weather updates anytime, anywhere.
