Fox Weather. I'm Fox Weather Meteorologist Kendall Smith and here's the latest from America's Weather Center. The southern plains are once again the focal point for dangerous weather today. A nearly stationary front is fueling strong to severe thunderstorms across Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a risk for severe storms in these areas, including the threat for large hail, damaging winds and even a few isolated tornadoes possible through this evening. A

Alongside the severe weather threat, heavy rain is pounding portions of North Texas and Oklahoma. The Weather Prediction Center maintains a moderate risk for excessive rainfall, meaning numerous flash flood events are possible, especially in already waterlogged areas. Rainfall totals could exceed four inches in some spots.

Meanwhile, further north, the same storm system is pushing through the Ohio Valley and northeast, sparking severe storms there as well.
