Courtesy TNT, Coco Gauff beat Irina Sabalenka Saturday for her first career French Open title, ending the drought for Americans that started after Serena Williams won at Roland Garros in 2015. Gauff dropped the first set in a tiebreaker and rallied to win the next two for her second career Grand Slam. She actually beat Sabalenka in the U.S. Open final in 2023.
The men's final set for Sunday. Like the women, it's the top two seeds colliding. The top seed Yannick Sinner is looking for his first title in Paris against the defending champion and two-seed Carlos Alcarez. Sovereignty won the Belmont Stakes over journalism. The same finish as at the Kentucky Derby. No triple crown this year as Sovereignty didn't race the Preakness, which was won by journalism.
