Elway is reported to have been driving a golf cart Saturday night after a party in La Quinta, California, when his friend and former agent and business partner Jeff Sperbeck fell off the back of the golf cart and suffered possible fatal injuries. He hit his head on the asphalt. Sperbeck was unconscious when medical personnel arrived.
TMZ reports that he is on life support and doctors are preparing to harvest his organs for donation. John Elway and his wife had attended the Stagecoach Music Festival with Spurbex before they went to an after party together.

Last past Saturday's NFL Draft coverage, rounds 4 through 7 saw 43% increase in TV ratings from one year ago. Thanks to the suspense football fans hung around for to see if and when Colorado quarterback Shador Sanders would get picked. Sanders went from being a likely first round choice to the betting favorite to be the first pick of the second round before he dropped all the way to the fifth round picked up by Cleveland. It was the second most watched NFL Draft. Audience up 27% from last year over the three days.
NBA playoffs, Denver Nuggets got 33 points from Jamal Murray last night in a game five win over the Clippers. Murray, the high scorer, had a happy teammate of Nikola Jokic who had another triple-double for Denver. We came off the bench together, you know, my rookie year. We built the chemistry. I get to like, you know, every year I realize, no, damn, first MVP, second MVP, third.
