Well, holdouts and contract disputes are pretty common in professional football. So now that we're in the era of college players getting paid, it was maybe only a matter of time until we saw one in the NCAA. That seems to be the case at Tennessee, where the school is moving on from starting quarterback Nico Iamaliava. According to reports, the rising sophomore was set to make $2.5 million next season. After seeing what other quarterbacks were making, he told the school that he wanted a new contract.
and around $4 million a year. When they didn't give it to him, Iamaliava reportedly missed Friday's meetings and practice before telling coaches that he would be entering the transfer portal. That was a bluff. The school called it. After today's spring game, head coach Josh Heibel confirmed that Iamaliava will not be back with the program, saying it's unfortunate for the state of college football. I said it to the guys today.
There's no one that's bigger than the power team, and that includes me. Florida also had its spring football game today, which included a celebration of the Gators' national championship basketball team. During that, head coach Todd Golden confirmed that they will be visiting President Trump at the White House.
