It looked like the best series on paper at the start of the NBA playoffs, so it's only fitting that we're going to get a winner-take-all Game 7 in the first round matchup between Golden State and Houston. Young Rockets team is one of the biggest surprises of the season, winning 52 games to earn the second seed in the Western Conference.
The Warriors meanwhile had to get through the play-in tournament just to make the playoffs. Both four-time champions Steph Curry and Draymond Green still there. The Warriors actually raced out to a 3-1 series lead before Houston won games five and six to force tonight's deciding game.
In Major League Baseball, there's Purgatory, and then there's wherever the athletics are this season. Their ballpark lease ended in Oakland. Their future home in Las Vegas hasn't been built yet, so they're playing this year at a minor league park in Sacramento. They reportedly also had to overpay for some free agents this offseason so that the players' union didn't file a grievance against them. Now, despite all of that, something funny is happening so far this year.

It's actually been kind of good. And Soderstrom with a single. This will drive, drive in the go-ahead run. On NBC Sports, California, 23-year-old Tyler Soderstrom continuing his breakout season as he comes off the bench to deliver the game-winning hit in the ninth inning today. The Athletics improved to 19-16 on the season. Speaking of good teams, you can make it five straight wins for the San Diego Padres, who shut out Pittsburgh for nothing to finish off the sweep.
Kansas City Royals also made a little bit of history over on FanDuel Sports Network Kansas City. That is a franchise record, seven home runs for the Royals. Michael Massey there hitting the record breaker. KC beat the Baltimore Orioles and has now won 11 of its last 13 games.
Finally, a little bit of tennis news. Four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka won the Open de San Malo this morning. It's the first time that she's won a WTA tournament since 2021.
