Fox Sports Update. The Padres are no longer perfect. San Diego dropped its first game of the season today, falling to the Cubs 3-1 at Wrigley Field. Shota Imanaga allowed just one run in seven and a third innings of work as the Cubs won in their home opener. The
Padres had opened the season 7-0, the best start in franchise history. In other scores, the White Sox have now lost three straight after kicking off their 2025 campaign 2-2. Chicago and the Tigers faced off in a division matchup, with Detroit taking the first of a three-game series 7-4. Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter left the yard twice, including launching an opposite field home run in the fourth inning. Kerry lays into this ball, Benintendi back at the track, twisting, and he's not going to get it.

Hooper Flagg, now just the fourth freshman to be named the Associated Press Men's College Basketball Player of the Year, and his Duke Blue Devils face a tough test. The Houston Cougars have the top defense in the country, and they're coming off a game where they limited Tennessee to just 15 points in the first half of their Elite Eight matchup. The Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson knows slowing down Flagg won't be an easy task. He had high praise for the freshman today. It's hard to say what he's not good at.
Now, he's not as great at some things as he is at others, but his floor is really good at everything. In the first game of the Final Four, Florida takes on top overall seed Auburn at 6-0-9 Eastern. After the Gators staged a furious comeback against Texas Tech last weekend, Saturday's winners will face off Monday night in the National Championship game.
