It's Patriots Day. Third Monday of every April, four states observe Patriots Day. Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, and North Dakota. It's a day to commemorate the opening battles of the American Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1783. This holiday in Boston, Massachusetts always marks a special day in sports. Today is the 129th running of the Boston Marathon, and the Boston Red Sox play a game at home that starts before noon, 1110 a.m. Eastern Time. At Fenway Park, the Red Sox host the White Sox.

Sunday in the majors, Yankees starting pitcher Max Freed appeared to be working on a no-hitter against the Rays when the game's official scorer adjusted his scorecard before the Rays went to bat in the eighth inning. It was determined an earlier play in the sixth that had initially been called an error was overturned to a base hit, an infield single. And the first batter of the eighth inning then hit a clean single off of Freed, who still earned the victory in the Yankees' 4-0 shutout at Tampa. And the Golden State Warriors are going to win it by 10 in Game 1.

On TNT, Steph Curry scored 31 points. Jimmy Butler added 25. The Warriors beat the Rockets in Houston 95-85. Golden State up 1-0 in the best of seven series. The Celtics, the Cavaliers, and the Thunder also scored game one victories Sunday. Oklahoma City registered the most lopsided blowout win ever in the opening game of a playoff series. The Thunder graded the Grizzlies 131-80.

Derek White scored 30 points for the reigning champion Celtics in a 103-86 win against the Magic. The Cavaliers got 30 points from Donovan Mitchell, 28 from Ty Jerome, and 27 from Darius Garland in a 121-100 victory over the Heat. Stanley Cup playoffs. The Golden Knights won game one against the Wild, 4-2 behind a pair of goals from Brett Howden.
