Fox Sports Update. Justin Rose may not have been able to match his first round performance at the Masters, but his Friday on the course at Augusta National is good enough for the 36 hole lead. Rose carded a 71 and is 8 under for the tournament, taking a one stroke lead into the weekend. If not for two bogeys on the last five holes, Rose could have gone lower in the second round. Yeah, two good swings really on 14 and 17, but just misjudgment.

That came one day after falling apart down the stretch and parting double bogeys on two of the last four holes. DeChambeau is one back of the lead at 7-under, while Scheffler, the defending champion, finished his round at 5-under for the tournament.

In the NBA, Grizzlies rookie Jalen Wells is expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a broken right wrist and a concussion in a hard fall Tuesday against the Hornets. Wells was inadvertently undercut by Charlotte's KJ Simpson as he went up for a dunk, landing awkwardly on the court and the rookie was placed on a stretcher before being taken to the hospital. Wells has been one of the NBA's top rookies this season, averaging just over 10 points per game.
And in Major League Baseball, Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman has been activated off the injured list after missing the last nine games with a right ankle injury.
