And welcome back to Sisters Who Kill. Honestly, you know what I think about when I think about this story? You know how they be like, don't let hobosexuals into your house. People that are only fucking you because they need a place to stay. That's what this story reminds me of. Our players this week are Martell Deruin, our victim, Andrew Bass, Sasha's old boyfriend, Joya Deruin, Martell's wife, and Sasha Scar, our murderess.
Sasha Leigh Scar was born on September 5th, 1999 in San Angelo, Texas. I got this birthday from Twitter, not from official documents, so if I'm off by a day or two...
blame somebody else not me anyways she moved to san antonio when she was in fifth grade and she stayed there until the 10th grade after that they said that she moved to florida for a little while like for two years and then she came back to austin texas now although she moved constantly and everything seemed to always be
up in the air with her schooling or whatever, there was one thing that really remained constant in her life, and that was music. She loved it. She loved to sing. She loved to make music. She loved to record music. That was a place where she felt comfortable, where she felt love, where she felt like really herself. So when she moved back to Austin, she ended up getting herself a boyfriend named Andrew Jair Bass. And when she met him, things were cool. She was like, mm.
like 15, 16 at the time. He was like 16, 17 at the time and she needed a place to stay. And he was like, okay, well let me ask my mama. And so he's like, hey mom, this is Sasha. She needs a place to stay. I think I love her. Can she stay here? And Andrew's mom, his mom's name was Misty Renee Bass. And she was like,
She was like, sure, she could stay there. That's fine. Andrew actually already had a kid at this time. And it was obviously a young child named India. And the baby loved Sasha. Missy had no problem with Sasha. Andrew obviously was happy. And they both bonded over music. Andrew was an up and coming artist. And Sasha was like, wow, this artistry is really something that you can do.
make a name for yourself. She worked with also computers. Like she was really good at graphic design. So that was also her side hustle, getting all of these up and coming artists around Austin. They needed some flyer for their show. They needed a new logo for their brand. She was able to make that for them. So now she's got a hustle. Her man got a hustle. They both making music. It's really going well. And so when she was 17 years old, she got a DM from
from this rapper. His name is Cardone. Well, that's his rap name. His real name is Martel Lord Derouin. And he DM'd her and he was like, "Hey, do you want to be in my music video?" Of course she's trying to get into the music scene. So she says, "Yes, I would love to be in your music video." And so she meets this guy. They have a great working professional relationship. She's able to do graphic design. This guy also has a lot going on. So her and her man and this new relationship that she has made can work together professionally.
So at the time she's working with him, she's still dating Andrew and it's November 29th of 2019 and she and Andrew decided they're gonna get some weed. Not only that they're gonna get some weed, but they're gonna rob the plug. Which is like a wild like, "Oh today we're gonna rob the plug." Not just robbing steel. So they go and they meet the plug at Mel's hotel. I guess that's where he's staying at the time or whatever.
Andrew comes in and he's like, don't move, points a gun automatically. He's went straight to the robin. And the problem with this is, of course, the plug had his own gun. So he pulls that shit out too. He reached in the couch and he grabs it. So now they both got guns pointed at each other. Neither one of them knew who shot first, but they were shooting. Sasha's like, oh shit, things are escalating quickly. Not only has the plug been shot, but Andrew's been shot too. So what does she do? She thinks fast and she grabs the weed and the plug's gun.
She goes, she puts it in her car, she comes back and grabs Andrew and they leave. So she's panicking, she's driving like, oh my God, you're bleeding. Her man's has been shot in the chest and now she can't think about how to get to the hospital. So she just pulls over and calls 911.
She's 20 years old at the time. The police find her here. She's got Andrew in the backseat of her car. They're outside of Jess' auto body shop in Austin. The EMTs are performing CPR on Andrew, but he was declared dead at the scene. Now they start talking to Sasha and they're like, okay, tell us what happened. She was like, okay, well, me and Andrew, that's my boyfriend. Me and Andrew went to go buy some weed. And then the guy shot him in his chest and...
I don't know what happened. Like, Andrew walked off to make the deal. Next thing I know, I'm hearing gunshots. So I ran in and I grabbed the weed and the gun and Andrew, and I just, I couldn't figure out how to get to the hospital. So I'm here. At the same time, they're receiving another 911 call from the plug down the street. He done got shot a couple times. So they go over there and he says that he was staying at Mel's hotel, but he did not have a gun. And they go, they take him to a medical center
by Austin, Travis County. And the Austin, Travis County medical EMS people, they go and take him to the Dell Sinton Medical Center. When the EMS arrived to where she is outside of the auto body store, they're like, ma'am, what happened? And she's like, my boyfriend came to pick me up in his Kia. We went to go get some weed.
Next thing I know, him and the weed man are wrestling. Next thing I know, my boyfriend is saying, get the gun out the weed man's hand because he had a gun. And then I try to get the bag of weed. I run out to the car. A gunshot went off. I tried to get the gun. I tried to get him. And now I didn't know how to get to the hospital. So now I called y'all. And they're like, okay, we got him. We're going to take him to the hospital. We're going to try our best. Now, remember, the plug, he already at the hospital because he got shot and he needed medical attention. So he called 911 on himself. And when they talked to him...
He doesn't tell the cops much of anything, but he's like, the girl that was there, Sasha, I've known her for about a year. And she's the one that hit me up saying, oh, why don't you come by and buy some weed with her and her little boyfriend?
And they were like, okay, well, do you have her number? He's like, yeah, it's saved in my number as Fierce. And they were like, Fierce? He was like, yeah, Fierce Strokes. They said, why you call her Fierce Strokes? He's like, well, you know, I don't really hear from her much. Every couple months she hits me up when she wants some weed, when she wants some dick. And Sasha Fierce, that shit good. They're like, okay, sir, whatever you say.
And they're like, okay, well, sir, what else happened? He's like, well, she hit me up. This time, not for sex, just for some weed. And she said that her and her boyfriend wanted weed. So I met them outside of the hotel. As soon as we come in my room, he's sticking up a gun in my face, talking about some don't move, don't move, don't move. He was like, when that happened, I picked my gun up off the couch. This is Texas. The police are like, okay, well, who shot the gun first? He's like, I don't even know. Like, both guns went off.
I don't know who shot the gun first, but I know that we was wrestling before Sasha pulled this nigga away and pulled him out of the apartment. And then I picked up my phone and called you guys to come pick me up. When police are looking at this entire thing, they have three players in this particular crime.
They have one man that is dead, Andrew, Sasha's boyfriend. We have the plug, who is Sasha's hit up sometimes when you want some. We have Sasha, who is just outside doing whatever. They put out a warrant for Sasha's arrest. On December 12th, 2019, she was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. To pick her up, my girl goes in jail.
They give her a bond on January 6th of 2020. She was released on bond and she was supposed to come back on February 3rd, 2020, because that's when you stand in front of the grand jury, get indicted. You have to come back to your court dates because if you do not, like Sasha decided not to do, she decided that instead she was going to flee.
What happens is they put a bond out on you. They put a warrant out for your arrest. And the next time that you get involved with the law, baby, you're going back to jail. But, you know, she didn't show up. She's chilling in Converse, Texas for now. The judge never heard from her again. Because of this, she was put on the Marshall's most wanted list. Because how are you not going to show up to your court date? You gots to do that.
No matter what. Or you got to pay your money, something, depending on what your options are. But anyway, she's out. She's avoiding the law. And she says, you know what? The only way that I'm going to be able to get my life together is to get really focused in on my music. She doesn't really talk to Andrew's parents after that. Andrew's mom really hadn't heard from Sasha since that entire thing happened.
And she's like, I just need to get back on my music. I need to use the musical resources I have, get this whatever song or whatever I'm trying to get out, blow up, become a superstar, not have to worry a day in my life. What musical resources do I have? And she says, ding, ding, ding.
Oh, yes. I worked with Cardone. Like we said, Cardone was born Martel Lord Derouin, and he was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, to his parents, Leonard McHale Derouin and Melissa Ann Ford, on June 18th, 1986. He has three siblings, two brothers, Skylar Derouin and Curtis Lee Davis III, and one sister, Cammie Derouin. He is also the cousin of...
Beyonce. That's right. The one and only. They share the same maternal grandmother. Her name is Anges Darion. While in Louisiana, he graduated from New Iberia High School in 2004, where he started dating Joya LaJawn Jenkins. They met when they were like 16 or 17.
Things were great where they were in high school, but then Martel decided that he was going to go to the military after high school. He went to the U.S. Air Force. They tried the long distance thing with him going to basic. The long distance thing really didn't work. And while he was in the Air Force, he received an achievement medal, an organizational medal, a training ribbon.
Sometimes they be like, them ain't nothing. A Longevity Service Award, an Outstanding Unit Award, a Good Conduct Medal with one oak leaf cluster, a National Defense Service Medal. He had a Joint Meritus Unit Award, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and...
U.S. Air Force non-commissioned officer, professional military education graduate, Ribbon. He did well or he was doing well while he was in the military. And when he came back home, Joy was still there. And they were like, you know what? I love you, girl. These military benefits even going to be better with us married together. How about you and I get hitched? And it worked out.
Of course, we're already in love. They got married in 2007. They moved to San Antonio, Texas, and they started what they thought would be a very long and healthy life together. 2016 is when Martel really starts tapping into his music career. Like we said, he's going by the stage name Cordon. This is the name in which he meets Sasha Under because...
He reached out to her for music videos, of course. Miss Gordone. At the time, he managed to get a record deal with Empire and released his first mixtape, Tromp Bang. Don't ask me about it. I'm not sure about the contract details of this deal, but by 2019, he was signed to The Orchard, which is a label owned by Sony Music. He and Joya were able to run their own record label under Orchard, and he had a studio built in his house, and...
He would rent it out to people. He would make his own music there. And Joya, being more business savvy or having more of a business mind, she helped him kind of run the business end of things. And he just kind of got to be creative and deal with the music. And she'd help out creatively from time to time, but she more so just let him do his thing. People described him as an excellent musician, a talented and popular rapper. And personally,
He was a family man, a food connoisseur. He loved to restaurant hop. He was a little foodie, like, "Oh, I know the... You know them niggas who always know the best spot to eat? That's him." Later this year, he's putting out all this music, and he decides that he wanted Sasha to work for him in a video. Wanted to be in one of his music videos. And from there, they kind of develop a professional relationship. She's coming over his house every once in a while, working on music.
And she's helping him create flyers for the show and stuff because she was a graphic designer, a freelance graphic designer. So she's helping him create flyers and market himself in that type of way. As time goes on, Martel is taking his music career more and more seriously. And this is just kind of not where Joya sees her life going. She's like, you're really trying to build something here, but I'm really trying to have kids. Like, I want a family.
And it kind of seems like we're not, like our paths don't end up at the same place. So maybe we should just call it quits. It was very amicable. They took their time with the decision. Then they decided, let's lease the house.
And we can still make money off of it and we'll just live in separate places. They tried one more time in a small apartment. They made a deal with the apartment complex or whatever that they would start off in a two bedroom. And if things didn't work out, they could each get a one bedroom and stay within the lease. So things did not work out. They split to their own one bedrooms, but still very friendly. That's a lot of back and forth. What do you mean?
Like a lot of back and forth. I guess because you're married, you're really trying to see if you can figure this thing out. Yeah. Things were still very amicable between them. They were friends first, friends to the end. She would cut his hair every week. She made a big meal. She'd save him a plate, would still invite him to family functions. Like very, very friendly.
This being 2019, Andrew's out the picture for Sasha, Joy is out the picture for Martel, and the two of them start growing closer. There was never really a conversation about dating, but they would go out to eat and they did start having a more physical relationship. And their goals are kind of aligning. Sasha is still pursuing this music career. She's still putting out music.
She's doing interviews. She's promoting herself. They are in that same lane. You know what I mean? They're on the same page. And so things start moving in kind of a different direction for them. At this time, Sasha don't got a car. She's staying in Houston. Martel's staying in San Antonio. Sasha's getting around by Ubers and Lyfts and bumming rides from friends. So whenever she had to work with Martel or go see Martel, he would pick her up because he lives in San Antonio.
An unrelated incident. Apparently, word on the street is on March 26th of 2020, a propane tank exploded near... You're so funny for saying apparently when there's picture proof. Well, no, the apparently is because the Reddit threads say that her burns look like a meth explosion and she's claiming a propane tank.
Do they use propane tanks when making meth? I'm not sure of the process, but I know it's a dangerous one. So a propane tank is like those big tanks that you see outside of Kroger, those big silver ones. And people use them like maybe for a backup generator or for grilling mostly. You hook a propane tank up to a grill. But they're small versions. Yeah. But meth explosions are chemical explosions.
Like, they're cooking something and the chemicals don't go, turn out right. It happens like that. For some reason, I still feel like a small propane tank could be used in making meth. I don't know. I don't know the process. But that's an interesting...
Theory. She says a propane tank explosion happened and her and two other people suffered severe injuries. And it really looks like something kind of exploded on her face. They said a 200 pound. I don't know what she did, but it did clear up.
Right. I guess it was the burns weren't very deep. And I guess this and this is a much bigger one. Let me see. This wasn't no grilling propane tank. It says a 200 pound propane tank was attached to a cracked line and it leaked into a home, which caused the house's wall to blow out. But again, the people on Reddit are saying it's giving meth explosion. Believe what you want to believe.
I just Googled and they do use propane, small propane tanks in meth. So maybe she... Okay, girl. Okay, read it. Now, this is like peak COVID. In November of 2020, when y'all shouldn't have been nowhere but at your own home...
Sasha and Martel, they were messing around. Sasha spent a lot of time calling herself quarantine and at Martel's house. But those two kept arguing. And one time their argument got so bad, it turned physical. And Martel pulled out his gun on Sasha.
Now, I think Tess and I have both said that, you know, one time to pull out the gun on me and we're done. And it seemed like Martel didn't have this gun always. He got this gun when he moved into that apartment by himself because him and his wife were together. He didn't have no gun. But anyways, after this, they stopped speaking for about a month. And then on Christmas, Sasha walks into her family gathering. And guess who was there? Martel.
because her parents, her family was like, oh, we invited him over for Christmas. And this nigga said yes. Which, if you know I don't like you, why are you even answering? If we are not on speaking terms. And of course it's Christmas. So the two talk.
They decide to make up and they're back, you know, on January 3rd, 2021, Martel was talking and promoting his show saying thank you to the show that he had last night. And you know how you tag people that have helped out in the show. And Sasha was tagged in the picture. And the Instagram caption said, big love to everyone who pulled up and turned up with me last night. I guess he had an amazing show. Sasha commented, of course, the little praying hands emojis. Of course, she proud her man had a great show last night. She had a good time too. And
And Sasha gives the energy of careful on my man. Like, I didn't say we go together. We was just hanging out. Like, they was like, you date? She was like, we ain't talking about dating. We would just go out to eat together. But also she, in her mind, in her mind, he'll always be her baby. In her mind.
He'll always be her boy. Every time you think about it. But it didn't matter because that entire time, like the entire month of January, them two were arguing so much, arguing back and forth to the point where Martel's downstairs neighbor had already been complaining. Martel's downstairs neighbor didn't know who
And she kind of knew the neighbor, didn't know who the girl was, but was constantly calling the front office, like three calls to the front office, like, hello, my neighbors and these brand new luxury apartments are arguing. And I pay way too much rent, Texas rent in 2020. I wonder how much it was.
Probably cheaper than my rent. But anyways, I paid too much to be hearing my neighbor so constantly complaining. And it didn't matter because the argument between the two had not stopped. Now, according to Sasha Martell, kind of had a jealous streak on him. And there were times where...
If she's talking about music or she feels like she's talking about music, if she feels like she's on the phone talking about business, he'll be like, who are you talking to? Why are you talking to these niggas? And she's like, you already know how the game goes. We're in this music game together. Their interactions with each other were very hot and cold. Now, Sasha at the time, she was kind of she had her place kind of, but she also was hopping around from place to place. So on January 22nd, 2021, Sasha ran to a friend's house and she ran to her mama's house and
not really ran there. She was driven there by other people. And when she was at her mama's house, she was like, why don't you come pick me up to Martell? I'm going to help you get ready for your next couple of shows. And he's like, yeah, absolutely. So he goes and he drives and picks her up
bus to U-Turn drives back to his house and the whole thing is that they're gonna have a good evening maybe she'll make some dinner they'll talk about what he's got going on for his next steps in his music career maybe they'll watch a movie maybe they'll watch a tv show maybe they'll have a good night so they pull up at the house she goes in she's like oh let me pour us a drink
pours both of them some Hennessy. Roll the weed, babe. He starts rolling the weed. While this is happening, Martel is in the living room watching TV and Sasha is in like the kitchen little area. She pulls out of the freezer some filet of fish 'cause that's what she gonna make for dinner. And while she's cooking up the frozen filet of fish for dinner for her man, she gets a FaceTime call from this photographer. It's like photographer, videographer. I'm trying to figure out why it's even in the freezer.
Because I was just imagining it like fish sticks. It's dinner for her man. It's his house. I'm sure he bought it, but... For real? Me and other bitches not built the same. Because if I knew I was going to make something to eat, I already been at your house, I know what's there. Let's run by the store real quick so I can make you a dinner, baby. Come on now. You make me a dinner. Filet-O-Fish.
So she's, I don't know, microwaving, toaster ovening. Let me stop fucking with her. I don't know how she was making the filet, deep frying the filet-o-fish like she was at McDonald's. I don't know what she was doing. But she gets on the phone with this photographer, videographer, and according to her, she is talking to him about an upcoming shoot that she wants to have done for her new music, because she's really trying to make this thing work for her. And according to her...
While she was on the phone, it's FaceTime, so you know FaceTime is speakerphone. Martell hears this and he kind of gets upset. Now, this is where the story doesn't make sense. I guess she gave him his food because she's like, and then immediately I went to the room after I got off the phone. She really made it sound like while she was in the middle of cooking, maybe it was in the microwave. I don't know. Maybe it was in the toaster oven. Maybe it was in the air fryer. I don't know.
But she goes to the room and she's just scrolling on her phone according to her. But Martell's in the front. Like, I know she ain't just FaceTime some nigga and then go to the phone to scroll on my bed to talk to some other niggas. So according to her, he comes into the room. She's laying. When you go into the room, there's the bed.
That's where his spot was. He wasn't laying there, but she was laying down. But he comes into the door and he's like, Shadi, you got to go. You think you finna be up in my house talking to these other niggas? I do not think so. Get your shit. Let's go. And then he starts picking up her stuff. She got her bags of shit. He starts picking up her things. And she's like, what are you doing touching my shit? Like what?
And so she starts like kind of getting in a tug of war with her stuff because he's trying to grab it. When this happens, Martell pushes her and almost tackles her on the bed. The bed breaks. Now this is a sturdy wooden bed, it looked like. And it breaks. Her fingernail breaks.
And they are wrestling, okay? They're both going back and forth. But see, Sasha knew where Martel kept his gun. So she reaches for his gun where he keeps it on the side table, pulls it out and starts waving it at him. Like, back the fuck up, nigga. Back the fuck up. He's trying to get back from other side of the bed because the bed fell. He's like, yo, give me my gun. Give me my gun. She's like, no. So she starts running out of the house. But while she's doing so, she's just like throwing shit. Not at him, but like on the floor, just creating distance.
Just like, yo, back up, back up, back up. She does, according to her, a flip over the counter and heads out the door. No shoes on, wearing a green dress, gun in one hand, cell phone in the other. And Hermione's just like, man, fuck this. Like, fuck him. I need my shit, but...
I'm going to do what I have to do so I can call me a Lyft or Uber or Frank and come pick me up or something. She looks at her phone. Damn it. Phone is dying. Now, Martel, he lives on the, what was it? The third floor? The third floor or the fourth floor?
And she's walking around trying to find somebody that will have a charger. So she's walking on the first floor. This is what I put together. At this point, like she already had a little bit of drink. She's already very high. She's already like frazzled, nail broke, pissed. And so she starts knocking on doors of people at the apartment complex on any floor, the apartment building, and just saying like, hey, do you have a charger? Do you have a charger? If they answer.
Finally, somebody gives her a charger. She kind of sits down in the hallway area, basically in the fetal position on the floor of this apartment building to charge her phone for like five, 10 minutes. Then during this time, Martel text her like, come get your shit. Give me my gun. Come get your shit. You need to go. While this is happening, Martel starts putting his place together. He takes the sheet. He folds the sheets off of his bed, trying to just clean the place up because shit just went down in there.
Finally, her phone charges up enough and she decides that she's going to make her way back to Martell's door.
So she is walking, cell phone in one hand, gun in the other, barefoot, up to Martel's apartment. And she starts banging on the door. This nigga not answer. Banging on the door. All she got is her phone and the gun. And so she's got her cell phone in her left hand. She's got the gun in her right hand, which is her dominant hand. And she's using that hand and the gun like she in a movie and using the gun to bang on the door.
And she is loud. And Martel's not answering. So much so that the neighbor across the street, not street, the hallway, opens up the door. First of all, that neighbor thought it was her DoorDash order.
And it wasn't. And so she was like, oh, sorry. And Sasha was like, oh, no, I'm just trying to get the attention of him. So sorry. I'm not banging on your door. She's like, OK, cool. Sasha clearly hit the gun. The girl did not see the gun. Sasha goes back to banging on the door, banging on the door. And while she's banging on the door with the gun, she's like, man, fuck this shit. And
swings her arm up and while she swings her right arm up the gun goes off one bullet hole through the door and Sasha's like whoo after that she's like you know what fuck it I don't need any of this so now she's like pacing the hallway she's trying to figure out what she's going to do she has the gun in her hand and she decides that she's going to call 911
1605.
Okay. 16735 Washington? Yes. Okay, and this is the tower? Yes. Okay, and your name? My name is Joya Duran. Okay, what's going on? I'm trying to get in my apartment, but I'm not able to get in. And then I see, like, I'm just not able to get in, and I think my nose is getting injured. Your head just hurt?
So she's on this 911 call clearly lying and also being very vague like a hole in the door.
The fuck does that even mean? How big is the hole? Like a hole you can walk through, a hole you can see through. What is it? She did not have her ducks in a row making this call. But anyways, she doesn't really stick around and wait for EMS to get there. Not at all. If they did arrive, they did, but they didn't see anything. She waits for her ride. She throws the gun in a dumpster and she's like, you know what? I am out.
Out of here. Also, what y'all didn't catch was O'Connor, that first street that she named, that's where she actually lives, not where he lives. Time passes, four days to be exact. It's January 26th and Martel's family calls Joya, his wife, asking if she's heard from him. And she's like, no, I haven't. She's checking her phone. She was like, OK, we last spoke on January 22nd.
He left my house that day. I cut his hair because he had a show this weekend. So I guess that's really raising a lot of flags. So one, you didn't make it to your appearance or whatever you had this weekend, show, whatever. Because who would miss their show? I wouldn't. Choya's like, man, I ain't heard from him since he came and got his hair cut. She was like, well, you know, one time he lost his phone. Like he dropped it in the toilet and I had to email him. So let me email him. He don't email her back.
She's getting concerned. Now, Martell has lived out of the apartment complex that they lived in together, but he did not go far. He's like two to five minutes down the street. So she was like, you know what? It'd be faster just for me to go on over there. So Julia hops in her car and she drives over to Martell's apartment and she finds the police there.
Martel's family was not playing about him. They done already called the cops to do a welfare check, and that's what they're up there doing at this moment. I feel like this was their second welfare check, 'cause they keep saying the first time they didn't see anything.
The first time was when she called 911 because they weren't, she gave the wrong address. So they were just kind of checking out the place. They didn't know to look at a door to see if there was something wrong behind a door. They just kind of checked the place and they said, okay, no one's out here screaming for help. Maybe there's nothing. So the police are over there, they're investigating and they're knocking on the door. Nobody's answering. They then asked the super for a master key, but it doesn't work.
The door is locked on the inside.
to a lock that they don't have a key for. So they're still banging, they're still banging. They're like, okay, Martel's car is still here. So it shows that he is probably inside the apartment and not answering us. And then they look next to the peephole and there's a bullet hole there. So they're like, okay, we got to get this door down. So they go grab their tools. When they start drilling in the door to get the bolt off, they finally get the door open or off or however they did it. They can finally enter Martel's apartment.
As right there, right behind the doorway is Martel in a pool of his own blood and a bullet hole through his forehead.
So Joy is downstairs. They're not even letting her up to the apartment. She was like, well, let me go ahead and start calling his family now and keep them updated on what I just found. And she's trying to stay positive, but things are not looking good. She's saying that you got into the apartment, but I still don't see Martel. Where's Martel? They're looking through the place. There's signs of an altercation. You can see the broken dishes in the kitchen. They find two credit cards that belong to Sasha Scar, and they find...
A broken fingernail, like acrylic nail, and a do-rat. Her painting stuff is there. Her shoes are there in front of the easel. She's got like an overnight bag parked by the door or in a corner of some room. But it's clear that something happened here. Police are trying to get some answers, so they start with the woman across the hall. Caroline, hey.
Do you know what happened to your neighbor? Have you seen anything? She was like, oh, well, the other day, like on Friday, seeing a woman banging on the door. And it was like, okay, would you be able to identify that woman if you saw her? She was like, yeah. They was like, look outside the window. Look down at that girl right there. They start pointing to Joya. They said, is that her? She said, no, that ain't her. Period. Because Joya ain't do shit. Right.
They're still canvassing the hallway, trying to talk to neighbors. They see that Pedro Padilla has a ring camera.
They're like, hey, man, can we look at your footage from the 22nd? And they play it back and they see Sasha on the ring camera making a call to 911 with a gun in the other hand. They took Joya away for a moment because the wife is always your first suspect. They had her down at the station and were asking her some questions. And they ended up pulling a 911 recording from the night of the 22nd.
And it was like, let us play this for you. And of course, on the 911 recording, it says, my name is Joya Duran. And Joya said, that ain't me. She said, that's not even how you pronounce my last name. That's not how you pronounce my last name. And it sounded like the girl was struggling to spell my first name. That ain't me. And she said that he was how old?
Right. Age wrong and everything. She was like, mm-mm. They said, well, ma'am, do you know who this is? And she was like, mm, that sound like Sasha. Okay, so now these are two clues pointing towards Sasha, right? We've got credit cards in the house, and Joya has identified her on the car, right? So Joya's pretty much ruled out as a suspect at this point. Their attention is definitely turning towards Sasha, whoever she may be. They return Joya to the crime scene. Then the police notify the family about Martel's death. We think
That Sasha is responsible and Joya ends up releasing a statement to the local news saying, quote, There is no way to replace him, but please help us find this girl. She is dangerous and I do believe she will kill again. If you see her, please contact the police. She adds that Martel didn't deserve this and she asked for privacy while her family tried to, quote,
digest this senseless act and so it's just really like she just cut his hair and now he's dead you know what I mean and this girl who's kind of been around in the background for like two two years at this point like never thought nothing of her and everybody's saying that she was like it's real confusing it don't make no sense and it's hard to swallow these senseless deaths that like it
You can't find a real good reason for nothing. But the investigation was at least moving quickly. But with the suspect named, the warrant for her arrest was issued and the search for Sasha was on. Now, when they...
put everywhere that they were searching for Sasha. Andrew, remember her first boyfriend, Andrew? His mom, Misty, was like, Sasha? Is that Sasha? I know that's not Sasha. News Ellis, y'all can come over here and talk to me because this was the perfect opportunity. Everybody's looking for Sasha for the murder of Martel, but Misty needed the world to know that Sasha is also wanted in
in connection to her son being murdered, Andrew. She tells the news outlets, quote, "I met Sasha about four years ago. Andrew had come home and he had her with him and said, 'This is Sasha and she needs a place to stay.'
So I opened up my home to her and she resided with us for several years. She was quiet. She was meek. I didn't have any concerns about her whatsoever. She then tells the story about Andrew dying in this case that is going on. And she says, you know, with Sasha, it really is the ultimate betrayal because you open up your home to someone, you offer them every single little thing you have. And at the end,
Her child dies. There's no real answers about what happened. Because really, when you think about that case, Sasha didn't kill Andrew, but you ran. And that's what her mom has a problem with. If you had nothing to do with this case, if you loved him like you said that you did, why are you running? Why are you not trying to bring justice to him, even if it means you have to do a couple years?
If you did nothing wrong. And I think the part for Sasha is what the evidence is showing is that she did do something wrong. Because, see, Sasha's story is that Andrew set it up. But what the evidence is saying is that Sasha set up this robbery. So then it's like, it kind of is your fault then. That's also what Misty, Andrew's mom was saying as well. Like,
She wasn't even charged correctly. She was charged with what? Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon? No. If she was charged correctly, which it seems like she should have had larger charges. Of course, you can't without concrete evidence. She should still be in jail. She shouldn't have been able to have bail. Everybody is affected by this. Andrew's daughter, her name is India, idolized Sasha, loved her. And now this little girl has nothing. And the person that she was looking up to, the woman she was looking up to, also is allegedly for...
poops and laughs right now a part of the reason that her father is not here and so missy was like fine sasha lock her up for your son and for my son too just get her just get her now sasha found out that there was a warrant for her arrest probably at the same time that missy found out that there was a warrant for sasha's arrest because sasha's face was everywhere they were looking for that girl and
And she said, oh, time to call a lawyer. And that's what she does. The lawyer said, okay, if you have any injuries whatsoever, you need to take pictures of them. And she was like, great, doing that. And she did have injuries. She had scratches on her neck. She did have a black eye. They were not fake. They were very much real injuries that you can see. And then the day after Martel's funeral, his funeral was held on February 5th,
2021 in Lafayette, Louisiana with military honors. The day after on February 6th, 2021, she walked into the police station and turned herself in. They arrested her. She had a preliminary hearing. She was given a bond for $500,000 that was later reduced to $125,000. And
They were trying to figure out what they was going to do. She had a deal that was on the table. They said, you can accept this plea, plead guilty to this murder charge and we'll give you 20 years in prison. And she was like, no, it wasn't. It wasn't murder. It was an accident. I did not know that he was on the other side of that door when I shot the door, when I shot. I didn't even shoot on purpose. And
And so she decided to take her story and... On August 29th of 2023, Judge Christina Escalona presided over the case. Sasha stood a strong chance of being convicted of manslaughter, but the
But the state, they wanted to go all the way for first degree. So prosecution are calling in their witness. They got Detective Lawrence Saez, who gives his story of what happened. He thinks that Sasha and Martel were arguing. He threw her out. She grabbed a gun. It did show everything was left behind. She didn't have shoes on. But she starts banging on the door to get her stuff back. He ignores her. He looks through the peephole, and that's when she fires the gun, killing Martel.
He thinks that she deliberately killed him. He feels that she knew Martel was on the other side of that peephole.
and knew when she was firing that gun. Now, the prosecutors, they also have Detective Saez go over these text messages. And it's like, Joya gave me the code to the phone, and I was able to look in the phone and, you know, was able to look at a few text messages that were sent that day. Now, one text message that stood out to me in particular was that due to COVID-19, he was going to have free Netflix for a year because I didn't get that offer. Wait, wait. What? What?
What? I just ran to my phone to unmute it, to my mic to unmute it. Excuse me, sir, what? Because you know we was looking up all the deals. When Geico gave me a couple months of very cheap insurance, I was very happy. I was like, y'all know I'm not going nowhere. It says due to COVID-19, Netflix is giving everyone a free one-year subscription to help you stay. And that's where it cuts off. That's crazy. I don't remember receiving that. I didn't get that text message. I didn't get that one.
What the detective, however, found interesting was that text message threads to Sasha. And so he's reading it in court and it says he's reading it. He's like the text message said this is a text from Martel to Sasha.
Detective Sides is reading it and it goes, Bring my gun back and come get your stuff. You attacked me and defended myself all because I asked you to leave because you in my bed on the phone with N-Words asking if you still tipsy. Fuck is wrong with you. SMH. Yeah, he said, I don't, I don't want to,
Some of this language I don't use. And so I'm going to substitute. And he said N word. Yeah. And then he says, he says, fuck is wrong with you. SMH. He says, that means shaking my head. Then he continues to read. You lost ASF shorty, but that's why something's redacted.
It goes on. Ain't no helping somebody as lost as you, obviously. I told you take my cars and crib off your page if you put here entertaining in words and you put it back up anyways, SMH. When are you going to realize I don't FW you? He said, I don't know what that means. I don't fuck with you. Little stupid ass bitch, I ain't fucking with you.
These white men are like, listen, I am trying to put it together, okay? I am just, I am the, I'm trying to keep up with my street lingo. Between the lack of grammar, the typos, and the acronyms, he's struggling, man.
Like that, if you put here entertaining in words and staying with me at the same time. So basically, Martel is like, you ain't about to be fucking with other niggas and me. And that's why your shit is out. Right. Bring me my shit back. Right. Bring me my gun back. You can have your shit and we can wash our hands of this. That's where things start to confuse me, because if Martel is literally texting you to bring his stuff back.
Why wouldn't he open the door? He just told you to bring back his gun. Probably because you came to my door all extra aggressive. Mm-hmm.
And maybe because I look through the peephole and you don't have the gun in a safety position. You have the gun wild. There may be reasons why if I look through the peephole of my door, even if I'm expecting you, that I will not answer. I feel like if you have a weapon, she was wearing a dress so she couldn't conceal it like under her dress, but you should have it facing down. That's safety. Yeah.
that's somebody that's coming to have a conversation. My theory is the reason he ain't open the door was because she already knew he was there and shots fired before he even could. Because I don't see him being quiet. Like, come back to my apartment, but then staying on the other side of the door silently and you didn't know where he was at. And Skiving, you knew exactly where he was at. You probably knew he was waiting at the door for you when he sent that message and you came and pop. So...
Or he was in the back taking a shit while he was banging and banging and banging. Because he was banging enough time. She was banging long enough to have a conversation with the girl across the street. He also was collecting her shit. So he probably wasn't even planning on because she saw the pictures and she was like, that's not how my stuff looked.
When I left, I was like, that nigga was probably putting everything nice in me. And be like, give me my gun, go get your shit, we can be done. Right. They also talked to Detective Daniel Molina, and he testifies about the struggle that they had, taking the door off, and says, we don't know exactly how he died, but he was on his back, which leads us to believe he was looking through the peephole, was shot, and fell backwards. Right.
They go on to get the testimonies of the neighbors, one of Caroline across the hall, who was like, I was just in my apartment, minding my business, talking on the phone. And I ordered some DoorDash, thought I heard it. It was actually her. I continued to mind my business. It was like, did you hear anything like a gunshot? She said, I had on my noise canceling headphones.
And then I got in a bath. So no, I did not. They also talked to the guy with the ring camera. He was like, so I was on my way out. It was about nine o'clock and I live next to Six Flags. So I did hear a bang. I thought it was fireworks. What can I say? I love his video because it's literally him like getting ready to go. And he like locks the door and he like, he was so ready for that dinner. Way out.
He was like, I was going to have a good time last night. They keep asking him questions and then he'll like get the question wrong. But he was like, oh, I mean, it's on the ring video. Whatever the ring video says. If the ring caught it, you should ask the ring. That's what it is. Okay, darling. Because me and my pup, we vacation and that's it. Thank you so much. You should probably ask the ring. They'll be like, but you said whatever the ring says, that's the right answer. And yeah, that was pretty much day one at the trial.
They actually brought Detective Saites back, the text message guy, and they verify a couple of other things that he said. They talk about the gun that Martel had. They talk to the medical examiner as well, and the medical examiner talks about the bullet and how it entered. He must have had one of them hollow tip bullets because the way that it entered, it went through the right side of his head. Like he was, okay, so the peephole...
It looked like he was probably looking through the peephole with his left eye, and he got hit on the right side of his head, and it cut through his skull and exited the bottom left back of his head. That had to be a hollow-tip bullet. To tear through you like that, had to have been. So the medical examiner testifies. She was probably my favorite testimony, very concise. Miss Mamm knew her things. And then it's time for Sasha to...
And I would have fired my defense attorney based off of the fact that she let that woman get on that stand because it did not help her case at all. She tries to paint the picture of Martel being extremely abusive. She talks about the phone conversation, the FaceTime conversation that she had with the photographer earlier.
She talks about Martel saying that she had to leave and she was like, and then he was attacking me. And she does have pictures that show that he was scratching her on her neck, that her eye was blackened. And she said that she used the gun just trying to back up out of the bedroom, not trying to hit him, just trying to scare him and make him go away from her. And then they asked her, were you scared of Martel? She's like, yeah, at the time I was scared.
And they asked her to demonstrate how she was banging on this door. Because honestly, when you look at the bullet hole, it very much looks like somebody said, ready, aim, fire. My opinion, I'm not on the jury. But her story was that she had the gun. It wasn't her dominant hand. And when she just flung her hand up, the trigger went off and she did not know how that happened.
They asked her multiple times, can you show us again how you did it? And she was just like, I flung my hand up and then it just went off. They were like, but the bullet hole is straight ahead.
And you said you ended with your hands in the air. She's like, yes, because I didn't know that the gun was going to go off. Like I was scared. And then they say, OK, cool. Can we see this picture of the counter? Now you say you flipped over counter you like double or seven over the counter to get out of the house. She's like, yes, that is correct. They say. But here these bowls are untouched.
And she's like, the bowls were there and there was other stuff. I knocked stuff on the ground. He's like, but you see how these three bowls cover the entire counter? They cover the entire counter. You say that you didn't knock any of these bowls down. So how did you 007 over this counter? And she's like, I can see how it may seem that way. That's what she kept saying. At the time, it may have seemed that way, but that's not what it was. And they're like, OK, I can see how you got there. But that isn't exactly aligned with the story that I'm trying to tell. So.
So please stop saying that. Please. And they were like, were you scared of Martel? She's like, yes, at the time I was scared. And they were like, what was your intention when you shot the gun? And she's like, my intention was to get his attention. And they're like, hmm. The defense is still talking to her and they say, now, did you know that Martel was standing right behind the door? She's like, I had no idea. I did not know. And they were like, were you in fear for your life? Objection that's leading. How did you feel?
Well, I was... At the time, I was really scared. I wasn't in my right mind. Of course, they had been drinking. They had been smoking. She didn't really know if Martel was hurt or not. And they were like, can you call the police? She's like, I did. I called 911. And he posed as his wife. Yes, I did. Why did you do that? And she was like, because I... I thought it would be better if his wife called instead of, like, some random person called. When they asked what she did with the gun, she said that she threw it in the dumpster. And they said...
why did you throw the gun in the dumpster? She's like, well, I didn't want to just be walking around with a gun. Like, I didn't have anything. I didn't have my clothes. I didn't have my bag. It would have just been me holding a gun and a phone. And I didn't want that. And they said, why did you fire the gun? And she's like, I don't know. And then she was questioned by the prosecution. I do see why they put her on there because literally, who going to defend her but her? She has nobody, like, on her behalf. There's no evidence.
leaning her way. So she had to come up there. I feel like there were a lot of ways that her defense could have poked holes because y'all, just so y'all know, me and Tazzy watched this whole thing go down and I feel like there was a lot of questions that did not get asked by the defense. I feel like the defense was weak as hell. I feel like they could, without it being like
hearsay. She was the only one who could speak to abuse between her and Martel. But they never asked Joya if Martel was abusive. Right, and I feel like that's because she would have probably said no, which would have then hurt their case. And then she's obviously, you know, if something happened, didn't tell her family because y'all inviting him to Christmas dinner after she tried to cut this nigga off. So...
- Not. - Speaking of Joya, she looked great in court. Loved it. Her locks were up perfectly. She was giving death stares to Sasha. - Every time she pointed at Sasha, they'd be like, "Do you know who was on the 911 call?" "Her. That woman right there. Sasha. Sasha's her. It was her." - They were like, "What is she wearing?"
Black pants, white shirt. She pointed so precisely every single time. Mm-hmm. I sent Taz a voice message when I was watching this, and I was like, Tazzy, they cannot have me on the stand as a witness in front of somebody that killed somebody that I love. Because I would be like, they would be like, what are they wearing? They over there, black pants, white shirt, looking like a bitch. Ma'am, you are in court. Oh, sorry, Your Honor. Sorry, Your Honor. Do you see the person here today? Mm-hmm. Hair look a mess.
Do you see the person today? They put your ass in contempt. Look like them honey buns over the past two years. Look like them honey buns in jail been really getting to you, girl. You look different from the last time I saw you. They put me in contempt so bad. She has always been a small woman, but she packed it on them two. I feel like it was just a few months. I guess it was two years. Them two years she was locked up? No, it was a couple years. It was a couple years before the trial started, but when all you got is mush and honey buns, then...
Honey buns it is. Listen, I know what I choose. I eat honey buns every goddamn day. I'm not going to talk about it, but you know, Angel, you don't get a balanced diet there, okay? You just don't.
Even the skinniest of people will blow up when they go to jail. I'm telling you, just do something to you. You want to keep your figure? Stay out of jail. But yeah, the prosecution ate her ass up, man. So they get her up there and they're like, let's go over your story again. So I know you just told it, but I've got some questions. So Martell told you to leave, gave you your stuff, and you refused, right? She said, I didn't refuse. I just want to know why. Okay.
So, but after he told you, why wouldn't you just leave? She's like, well, I was intoxicated. She's very soft-spoken. I was intoxicated, and he brought me there, so I had no way to leave. And it was like, and she says, but also this is the second time that he's brought me out to his place and then just told me to leave. I was just very confused. Why are you doing this again? So the prosecution is like, okay, you're saying that you had no car, right?
And that's why you couldn't leave, right? She's like, yeah. But you did leave, right? In fact, you were gone for four days before we even found his body, right? And she was like, yeah. So apparently you did have a way to get out of there. And they was like, but let's move on. We don't want to spend too much time. Let's talk about this counter. Why they got to do her in this counter? Let's talk about this counter. And it was like, you're telling us you jumped over this counter? She's like, yeah. And they was like, and nothing moved. And she was like, no, no.
He was like, so was this counter set? Because it's like literal place settings, like a bowl on top of a plate, three of them lined in a row. He got the little stools on the other side of the counter. Like it's a breakfast counter, right? He was like, and so these were still perfectly aligned after you jumped over the counter. And she was like, well, it's more room at the end of the counter. He pulls up another picture to show the whole counter. But there's actually not more room at the end of the counter, is it?
And she's like, it looks like that. He's like, oh, it's just my angles, huh? I ain't got the right angles. It may look like that to you. I said, oh, my gosh, they are eating her. He was like, so after you Jackie Chan'd your way across the counter, he's like, so let's move on. You said that you grabbed the gun because y'all were fighting, y'all were scuffling, right? And he was like, and you grabbed the gun, why? Because I was scared. Scared, right. Let's hold on to that. So you're in fear. Did you call 911? Yeah.
No, no, you didn't. Actually, you left the apartment with the gun and then returned to the apartment without calling 911, right? Correct. So if you had escaped from fearing your life, why would you return? And she's like, well, he had all that stuff. I'm out of your bear foot. And he was like, so you go back, you're banging on the door and the bullet goes off and you finally do call 911, right? But
were you honest with him or did you lie to them? She's like, I lied. And he was like, right, let's go through your lies. So start off, you tell them that you're afraid he might be hurt. You're concerned, right? She's like, right. And he was like, you're concerned for his life? And she was like, well, I'm concerned about the whole situation. And he was like, but didn't you lie about his condition? And she said a bullet hit him, right? She was like, I knew a bullet entered the apartment. And it was like,
But were you concerned that the bullet hit him? Is that better to say? And she was like, yeah. And he was like, but you didn't tell a 911 operator that you thought a bullet hit him. She said, I told him it was a hole in the door. Wouldn't it have made more sense to say that a bullet entered the door? Or that the hole is a bullet hole? Not just a hole? She's like, yeah. He was like, so you lied. She says, I lied about my identity. Not necessarily. He was like...
You didn't give a full account of what happened in that situation, did you? You didn't tell the operator that it was you who shot through the door, did you? And she was like, no. And he was like, and this is somebody you care about? He was like, don't you think that if you would have told the non-operator that you shot a bullet through the door, that they might have given you different instructions or responded differently to somebody being shot? Not somebody being quiet on the other side of a door with a obscure hole in it?
And she was like, but I didn't lie about the situation. I just didn't say everything. That's what we like to call a lie by omission. It's still a lie. You hear that, kids? It's still a lie. You hear that, kids? A lie by omission is still a lie. Sneaky girls, it's a lie. If you don't tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, you are lying. Clear opposites, truth and lie.
So then he goes on. He was like, I'm not done with you yet, though. Let's talk about you banging on this door. He was like, show me how you did it again. And she's like, it's like it was in my hand. And he was like, and you were banging on the door with what part of it? She's like, like this. And she does a motion. And the way it's held, like hold a gun, like how you hold a gun and knock on the door with that same hand. The butt of the gun is the one that's knocking on the door. He was like, that's the way you was doing it. And the bullet have gone straight up in the air.
Not necessarily. He said, you don't think so? He's like, if you did it for the bullet to go straight through the door, you would have to point the bullet straight. So at some point you pointed the bullet straight, not in a knocking motion. Not necessarily. So they should have brought a gun expert, like a trajectory expert or something. Because, yes, they did not bring one of those. And you know what else they didn't ask? I'm so sorry. I'm cutting in. But they didn't do this.
They also never asked her, so you left barefoot with all your shit at his house and you never hit him up for four days because you didn't know if he was dead or alive and you feel like after a couple days y'all probably would've talked. You ain't never hit him up. You ain't never come back. Sounds like you were running. Okay, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. All right, I'm done. They never asked those two questions. I was watching this thing doing a mock trial in my head and I would've kicked ass on both sides, let me tell you, because they both were weak sauce. The prosecution just really had a great, great evidence.

rocketmoney.com slash sisters. At this point, the prosecution, he's ready to wrap it up, but he's got one more point to make. And he says, let's talk about this gun one more time. Tell me, why were you firing the gun? She said, I just went mad. I just went insane. He said, but why exactly are you raising the gun? For what function? For what reason? I wouldn't necessarily say to shoot it. Then why?
There would be no other answer then. The other answer is that you were angry and you decided to shoot it. That would be the other answer. That would be the other reason. She was like, I did not decide to shoot the handle. And he just walked away from her. You know you fucked up, right? He said, I ain't got to say shit else. I ain't about to go back and forth with you. You know you fucked up. So after that, the state rests and they begin closing arguments.
In closing arguments, the state pushed for the jury to convict Sasha of the higher murder charge. Ashley Jones said the defendant knew exactly what she was doing. She was banging on the door to get Martel to come and deal with her. And then she shot him. That is murder. Her defense attorney, Valerie Hudlin, said the only people that know are Sasha and unfortunately Martel, who was killed that night.
She went on to say that the night in question was also very traumatic for Sasha. She sustained injuries after that fight with Martel, which the jury did see. Prosecutors' rebuttal argument showed that there was no DNA evidence showing that Martel had scratched Sasha. And this came from the medical examiner. They did fingernail clippings and they tested under his fingernails. And when they tested on his fingernails, baby, there was no DNA.
But also, he could have washed his hands while she was away.
Because Mara's theory is that he went back there to take a shit. Cleaned up and take a shit. I feel like that's what niggas do when they mad. I do. I feel like that's what niggas do when they mad. They also brought up the previous testimony where Sasa had admitted that she called 911 using a fake name. And they said, listen, all of this put together by her actions, she's implicating Joya and Martel's death. That sounds very cold-blooded to me. Because Joya's like, why not...
Why am I in it? The jury went out and after three and a half hours, almost four hours of deliberation, the jury came back and they found her guilty of murdering Martel. Once this happened, Martel's family, of course, was there. They were very excited that she was found guilty. And you could tell they were crying. They were hugging each other like this was
This had been looming over the family's head for years at this point, trying to find justice. And they were able to really see justice that day. The very next day was her sentencing. And that is where everybody gets to read their impact statements. The judge gets to decide what she's going to get. And Martel's sister lets Sasha have it.
She said, quote, the pain and agony you brought upon my family is unbearable. You deserve this. Your time is up and the time has come for you to pay what you've done. So fix your sheets if you have any.
Because you've made your bed and now it's time for you to lay in it. When Joya talked about her late husband, she said he was silly. He was a foodie. He loved to eat. He was somebody that loved his life and him wanting to help somebody out in their career resulted in his death. And it's just not fair. She talked about how even though they were separated, she still had so much love for him and her life is going to be forever changed.
because she felt like they had never broken up. She feels in her heart that this is hard. She's like, if we never would have broken up, if we would have tried harder in our relationship, this would have never happened because you would have never been in this situation with this girl. Oh, she can't take that on. I know, she can't. That's sad. Like, you can't even put that on you, girl. Because sometimes...
shit just doesn't work out. Martel's mom testified, Melissa, and she testified about how selfless Martel was and how when things were really hard with his stepdad, her husband, and he was battling cancer and she just needed somebody, Martel was really her rocker son. She loved her son. He always made sure that mama was good.
Martel's biological dad did also get up and speak, and he said that he was truly devastated. He says, I don't sleep good at night anymore. The jury went out for two and a half hours this time. The judge comes back and says that Sasha will have to serve 55 years in prison. She will be eligible for parole after she has served half of that sentence. Whew!
She's currently housed at the Christina Melton Crane Unit in Gatesville, Texas, and she will be eligible for parole in 2048. Her projected release date is February 5th, 2076. That's a long time away. It sure is. Like, whew, that is a long time. And that is the story. Sasha Scar. All right, y'all, it's time for...
I didn't do it, but if I did, this is how I would have got away with it. I ain't do it, but if I did, I would have talked about what men do. They take a shit and they go and they clean up their house. You knew that your stuff was in a different position because he had moved it. You knew that the bed sheets were in a different position because of the pictures and the way that he left the house. This is very specific, Mariah.
And listen, listen to me. Listen to me. Listen, listen, listen. And those plates, you should have said that they were moved. Yes, there were broken plates on the ground. So your story was coming together. But you should have said when you doubled 07 over that counter, the plate shifted. But he is the type of person if he's angry, if he's upset, the first thing you're going to do is clean up. Put some shit back together because it's your house in the day.
You even come up in a man's house, do it, whatever. And so he had he cleaned up his house. And that's why the plates are back where they're supposed to be by the time the police came to take the pictures. Gus, to get your story straight. Your story is so very specific. Feeling a little close to home. It's not. It's not. But I just feel like maybe. I don't know. Probably. Is that what he does when he's upset? He takes his shit and he cleans up?
Clean's up, yeah, but niggas just always taking shits, like hour-long shits. I don't get it. I think that's just niggas in general. I ain't do it, but if I did. Girl, did you forget she was on the run? Because let's say that you got off with this. Girl, Misty is right there waiting to see the verdict. If she don't get you, if Martell family can't get you, she was going to follow up behind. You already had niggas looking for you. Lay low.
Forever. Don't ever stop laying low. I would have went back to Florida and just tried my luck out there. But she loved Texas. She had Texas tatted right on her little chest. I thought that was a necklace. No, that's... No. I was like, that tattoo is from Texas. That changed so thin you can't see it. No. I ain't do it, but if I did...
You got to stop moving your stuff into niggas' houses. Like, she had her art supplies there. If y'all don't get along, y'all don't get along. And you shouldn't be with him. You telling me he's the only producer or the only engineer in Texas? Doubt it. You didn't even know this man's real age. Right. Which makes me think, did he lie about his age? Right. But still, we've got questions. I didn't do it, but if I did...
You got this nigga out here, got you looking crazy. Cause you banked on his door with a pistol in your hand for over an hour. Just leave, dog. You ain't even have to go out like that. There was witnesses and shit. Girl. You pacing the hallways looking for a charger, call a ride.
Because then she said she stayed with a friend out in San Antonio. It's not even like you had to go all the way back to your mama house. You had friends in San Antonio, girl. Call your friend. Tell her to come get you or like send her to go get your shit. That's what she should have. She should have called her friend. And when her friend pulled up, she should have said, can you go get my shit out of Martell's apartment? I'm sorry. If you're coming back with the same energy that I put you out with, I'm not answering the door. Because obviously you haven't cooled down.
I've gone down. You haven't. I didn't do it, but if I did, I would have worried less about being up under this man and more about getting a JLB so that I could have a CAR. Because it's hard being a grown-ass adult without no vehicle. I'm telling you. Especially in a place that doesn't have, like, excellent transportation. Mm-hmm. Ubers and Lyfts and favors all the time. Exhausting. Exhausting. Don't be that guy.
What else? I ain't do it. But if I did, I would have stayed on that same floor. I ain't do it. But if I did, if my phone was dead, I would have probably took my ass. It wasn't that late. It was nine o'clock, probably dark. But I would have took my ass to the closest gas station and found me a charger there, honestly, because they said that it was walking distance from that apartment to Six Flags. So there was probably some really nice gas stations in between.
I didn't do it, but if I did, I definitely would have called the police the first time. Like, once I'm out with the gun, let's say that you truly feared your life. You got this black ass eye, look like somebody decked the shit out of you. And you say you left with his gun. If at that point in time, he's still unharmed, girl, you have the upper hand. That is the moment where you have the upper hand. That is the moment that you should then call the police.
And you have the gun. I also would have taken... Instead of making space, you have the gun. You didn't have to throw plates in between y'all. I would have grabbed my purse because she left her purse there. I would have grabbed my purse. Maybe I would have left my shit. I would have grabbed my purse, grabbed my shoes, and left. All the other stuff I was coming back in. See, that's the thing, right? If you look at the layout of the house, so the door...
When you walk in the door, you enter the den, and her shoes and the easel were at the far window, like, on the right side of the den, but to the left of the den was the kitchen, and then behind the kitchen was the bedroom. So it's given that she came out of the bedroom, around the kitchen to the front door, as opposed to going all the way, like, across the couch to the window where all her shit was. You have the gun...
So you can do whatever you want, except for shoot somebody. Like, I have the gun. I would have grabbed my shit. He didn't stop coming towards her. You would have with the gun, with a gun. No, she had the gun and she pointed to him. She didn't say that he chased her out the door. No, she said he followed her into the kitchen. He was still recovering from falling.
And a crazy bitch with a gun, you telling me that that nigga didn't at least be like, hey, calm down with his hands up? Not if he a crazy nigga. I don't think he was a crazy nigga. Because she reached for his gun that was in its position when they got to fighting. He definitely put his hands on her. I would have waved the gun, got my shoes, got my purse, and...
I would have probably threw the gun back into the apartment and ran out. No, probably not. I would have took the gun, put it in my purse and ran, kept going. And after that, baby, you can text me and say you want to keep the art supplies or I'll come back with a police officer. But that's just me. And everybody would have stayed alive. And I would have got a gun. I think that's it for me. I think that's it for me, too. There's so much. Like, the first crime, my goodness. Just because you switch phone numbers don't mean they can't track you.
Just a little stuff. All right, y'all. Parole or no parole? I think that 55 years is a great
Yeah. You're going to be decrepit by the time you're done. She's going to be like 77. Yeah, she's going to be. I said what I said. Unless she gets parole after 25 years and I don't see that happening. I don't see that happening, girl. I don't see that happening. Because honestly, you paying it backwards. Fuck paying it forward. You paying it backwards for what you did to Andrew and how you set his ass up. Mm-hmm.
Yeah. And it seems like she was constantly in survival mode. And that's a tough place to be because when you do that, you only think about numero uno and you don't think about anybody else's livelihood. Hopefully, you know, while she's in school, she'll take advantages of some programs. Hopefully the prisons actually care about her. That's hard to come by, especially in the state of Texas. But all right. That is the end of the show. Let's chit chat, read some views and let's go home.
