by Awesome Step, how using a podcast can and will grow your business. So grab a glass of wine and pop your headphones on because girlfriend happy hour has begun here on The B-Words.
Hey girlfriends, welcome back to the B word. Today we're diving deep into a topic that is so near and dear to my heart. It is the magic of interviewing your ideal client avatar on your podcast. Don't skip this episode. Your ICA is so critical to the success of your marketing efforts with your podcast.
And if you are ready to take that little old podcast that you've created up to the next level, I promise you this strategy is an absolute game changer. And I'm here to tell you why. All right.
First things first, let's chat about what an ideal client avatar is. Sometimes I call it my ideal listener. Sometimes I call it my ideal customer. It all means the same. Your ideal client avatar or your ICA is that dreamy, picture-perfect representation of your ideal listener or customer.
It is not just about demographics, folks. It is about truly understanding their dreams, their fears, their goals, and absolutely everything in between. Crafting this avatar at the very beginning of your business, or if you haven't already, getting into it now will help you get inside your avatar's heads so that you can deliver content that truly resonates.
I am telling you right now, here on the B Word and at Podcast Her, we have about a 10-page document for our avatar. And every time we go to create a new episode or a new product or an event that we're going to host, I pull out that 10-page document. It is printed out. It is spiral bound. Put it on the desk. And I ask the whole team to take a look at it and say, has she changed?
Do we need to update anything about her? Do we know more information we can add to this document about her? And ultimately, is what we're creating good for her? It is what she needs. Is it going to resonate with her? You know, that old saying, like, what would Jesus do? Well, sometimes here at The B Word, we say, what would Amanda do? Because Amanda is the name of our avatar.
And if you haven't gotten that deep into your avatar, just go to thebwordpodcast.com forward slash 150 and you can download a worksheet very similar to the one that we use on creating your ideal client. I really encourage you to go do that. I promise you everything just gets so much simpler. Now...
Once you know who your ICA is, the next thing is to bring on someone to interview on your podcast who embodies that ideal client avatar.
That way, you're not just having a conversation. You're actually establishing your credibility and authority within your industry and within your niche. Think of it as a stamp of approval from someone your audience would admire. It's like saying, hey girl, I get you. I'm bringing in the experts you trust because this is what you need. And remember, your podcast isn't about you as the host. It is about your ICA. So bring in content for them.
Imagine that you run a podcast on productivity and your ICA is a busy, overwhelmed entrepreneur. Wouldn't interviewing a productivity coach who specializes in helping entrepreneurs instantly elevate your status as a trusted source for your niche? It would create that podcast that your niche goes back to time and time again because you're bringing in the people that make sense to them.
The thing I see a lot with younger podcasters, we call them the baby pods. They are in that space of interviewing anyone who will be on their podcast. And it creates, let's call it a mismatch or a charcuterie board of people on your podcast to listen to. The problem is when you bring on anyone who will be on your podcast, you kind of develop that speaking to no one authority. You're too broad. You're too generic.
And your listeners have no idea what they're really listening to you about. So bringing on those ideal client avatars, where you can have those conversations, where they really speak to the tone of the person, the thoughts of the person, the dreams of the person, and being very careful in doing that, strategically intentional about who you're interviewing. Oh my gosh, your status will skyrocket.
Also, the beauty of interviewing your ideal client avatar, it lies in the depth of that connection that you can create. You get to tailor your questions and the topics you discuss to address their specific challenges, goals, and questions.
And that makes your podcast episode become like a one-on-one conversation with your avatar, giving tangible solutions to their unique problems. And by diving deep into their preferences and especially their pain points, you can
You'll craft your episodes that resonate on a very personal level, making your podcast irresistible to your audience. Because when you get personal and you get relatable, you really foster the know, like, and trust environment that your business will need in order to scale. In fact, you make your podcast or your offers an easy hell yes when you present that offer to your ideal listeners because you have become the person that they go to.
You're the GOAT. Podcasts are also fantastic at creating communities. When you interview someone who represents your ICA, girlfriend, you're not just delivering content. You're creating a shared experience and listeners will see themselves in your avatar and they will feel this immediate connection to you and your podcast. They'll want to engage with your community, subscribe, and they will become loyal, raving fans and followers.
They know by listening to your podcast that the other people who listen to your podcast have similar dreams, goals, fears as them. And they will want to connect with them either in an online situation or in real life, which will open up so many opportunities to you.
Lastly, by interviewing your ideal avatar on your podcast, you actually tap into their audience. This is another game-changing aspect of interviewing them because you get to borrow their established presence and their established authority.
The chances are your guest, they have their own tribe who share common interests and characteristics with your target audience. You really want to find that sweet spot where their audience and your audience overlap and align. That is where a lot of that magic happens.
And by featuring them on your pod, you open the door to a whole new audience that might not have discovered you otherwise. Let me give you a pro tip to getting that guest that you're interviewing to actually share your episode. Ask them a question or get a conversation started that they haven't had a million times over the last couple of months. If they're going on multiple podcasts and they're talking about the same thing over and over again,
they have no real reason to share your episode with their audience. And we want to tap into that. So when you're coming up with your questions, when you're having that conversation, get them to share something interesting that maybe their current audience doesn't know, but they want them to know. Or maybe you ask them about whatever they're promoting or sharing or teaching to your audience in a different angle. And then you ask them to share your episode afterward,
Because it has that unique twist. It has that unique flavor and feel to it. It's not their same old thing that they're already telling their audience over and over again. They're far more likely to share their episode at that point with their audience, which grows your exposure.
So there you have it, my girlfriends. Interviewing your ideal client avatar on your personal podcast is your secret sauce to boosting your credibility, creating valuable content, fostering a tight-knit community, and ultimately expanding your reach. It is a win-win for both you and your listeners. And it creates a cash injection into your biz.
Because you've aligned your content with the needs and desires of your avatar. Again, making it so that when you present your service or your offer to your listener, it is an easy yes. Now, if you're ready to supercharge your personal podcasting game, go ahead. Start interviewing those people who embody your ideal client avatar. They are the key to unlocking your podcasting success.
Our podcast here at The B Word and our business really took a turn when we left interviewing the people that were interesting maybe to me or that were just raising their hands and asking to be interviewed. And when we really got intentional with our strategy behind interviewing, we were only interviewing those people who actually were our ICA. And ultimately, remember this girlfriends, when you create visibility and credibility, you end up with profitability.
