When I saw that you posted you were moving, I was like, I'm sorry, what? My God, I'm exhausted from moving states. Do you feel like Orange County was the place you felt the most stuck? So it's funny, I actually credit Orange County for unstucking me. Really? It's just like kind of cool to realize like we're all walking around and like she looks like she has a figure. She doesn't. No, we don't know. It's kind of funny. Like you can't help but laugh, right? Like I have no idea. Welcome back to another episode of Mean Girl Pod.

Hey, girl. Hello, where are you? You have a different background than usual.

Live from Orange County, California. Newport Beach, Costa Mesa specifically. 17th Street. I'm hopefully... I guess you won't be there. I was going to say, I really hope your hotel isn't on that street, but you'll be back in Austin on Monday. I'll be back. I'll say this. You know what? I will actually say the hotel because I'm absolutely loving it. And when I lived here, they didn't have this hotel. But now they have a Pindery in Fashion Island and it is...

Like I have like these things about hotels, right? Like I like a cool central bar. I like a nice breakfast. I like not like a nice breakfast, but a nice place to eat the breakfast. I like a little coffee situation. They have all of it. So it's lovely. So it's not a scary motel that will get me killed? No, it's a little bit different than that. I still can't get over that place. Like the Motel Austin was awesome, but just like the fact that my door led to...

a creepy parking lot and like my wallpaper looked like vaginas. It was a very interesting experience.

I, like, loved it. It's, like, is one of my top three. I still tell people to stay there. I mean, if I was with Pete, 10 out of 10 recommend. I just got scared staying there alone. I totally get it. The outward facing door, there's just something about the lack of barrier. I mean, it's why they're in the horror movies. It makes sense. Right? And, like, all I listen to is true crime and I read thriller books. So I just envisioned myself getting kidnapped. Okay. Okay.

Speaking of true crime, let's just do Monster and then remind me about what I'm going to say. Okay. So we're back with the Ultra Blue Hawaiian because I cannot go away from it. I just love it so much. It's your favorite. All right. Give us a little taste test. Fuel yourself for the day. When I was in Florida this past weekend, I can't remember who it was, but someone was like – it was one of my mom's friends. She was like –

I see that you drink Monster all the time on your podcast, so I went and got one, and I think she got the blue Hawaiian, and she loved it. At a girl, I think it's such a good can, and we're approaching summer, and it's just like Monster, all Monster. Speaking of Orange County, they're based out of here. Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. So we have the blue Hawaiian Ultra. It tastes like pineapple orange. It's so delicious. It's probably my favorite flavor at the moment. I'm sorry, white Monster Ultra. I'll probably love you again, but right now.

The blue's taking over my life. That's all right. Like your faves. Okay, what about true crime? I'm so interested now. Okay, did you see who joined TikTok? Yes! I wanted to talk to you about this. Is it on the list, Casey Anthony? Yeah. What planet is this woman on? And why does she have 60,000 followers, people? We need to boycott, block, report.

I was shocked yesterday. Pete goes, hey, did you see that Casey Anthony's back on social media or is on social media? And I was like, oh, what? I thought.

I thought she was in jail. I forgot she never went to jail, really. So she, I went and watched her original video where she's like, you know, I'm going to advocate for myself. I'm going to respond to my mom and my dad and blah, blah, blah. And then like, so for a second, I was like, let me go refresh myself. Because like the way I remembered it was she killed her daughter, you know, didn't report her missing for 30 days and then was out partying while they were looking for her.

So that person's obviously not making this video. So like, let me go refresh myself. No, that's what happened. That's just what happened. Well, in my, my question, cause I, I like, she is known for one. Like she is one of those names that we'll always remember. They're always doing something with Casey Anthony. It's like similar to so many other true crime cases. Like,

that we just talked about it's gonna have an OJ it's an OJ Simpson effect-esque yeah and I'm just like why now like why are you popping up now what's your ulterior motive besides you wanting to be an advocate or what did she say she wanted to be what's her new thing she's a legal advocate what does that even mean I have no idea like where have you been the past eight I don't even know how long it's been was it 2008 I think it was 10 maybe or was it

2008 or 2010, but like, what do you mean you're illegal? You don't need to advocate. You need to get the F off this app. But didn't the jury not convict her? Yeah, no, she never went to jail besides her time during the case, I believe. And she said her dad did it, but her dad passed a lie detector test and so did her mom. And it's like, no matter what happened, okay? Like, we don't know because we weren't there. All I know is she was just out seen partying.

Literally, when her daughter was missing. So no matter what, she's just not a good person. Oh.

Oh, it's just gut-wrenching. Like, it just is awful. I was sick when I saw she was on there. And then I'm just like, why are you guys... Well, I did see She's Uniting America, right? Because people are like, we disagree politically, but one thing we can't agree on is that we hate Casey Anthony. Okay. At least we have that. I'm like, well, I guess, you know, I mean, it's just like, I don't even mean to laugh because it's just such a horrific thing. I just, I was so shocked. Well, I can't even imagine...

Especially now that you're a mother, how you feel? Because I feel like you're looking at it through a whole other lens. I can cry. I was so distraught.

last night reading about it again because when I initially read about it, I found it to be really, really, really sad, awful, messed up, every word you can use to describe it. When I was rereading, because back in 2008 or 10, whenever it was, I didn't have a baby, right? Yeah. So I was reading it through just like a human lens as we all would. Now reading it through a motherhood lens, like I wanted to throw up. Yeah, there has to be another reason for why now she's popping on TikTok, but I am just...

I'm just waiting for that reason. I'm afraid it could be something that happens over a minute. Oh, yeah. It's monetized. I'm afraid she might want the money, which is just, like, awful. It's going to be, like, similar to Gypsy Rose. Like, not that they have the same type of crime, but she jumps on TikTok, gains millions and millions of followers. The next thing you know, she's getting a reality show, all these deals, and becoming a millionaire. That makes me want to throw up. I really hope that people can...

get behind giving her no attention. Yeah. Don't follow. Don't engage. Here we are. Right. I didn't. I didn't engage. I didn't. I was like, absolutely not. No, she the first like five seconds of the video. I was like, absolutely not. And I was like, I'm not watching this.

The one that caught me was it was a stitch because I didn't know what she looked like. I remember her face in the courtroom, but she didn't look like herself to me in the video she made, right? And then the video I saw was a stitch. And it's like, I'm a legal advocate. I want to respond or I want to advocate for myself, my daughter, something. My name is Casey Anthony. And my jaw hit the floor and the guy stitched it and was just like, what?

And I was just like, oh, no. Yeah, no. That's wild. But on maybe a more positive note, what's your thorn? I guess we usually go into thorns first. So what's your thorn of the week? Or your rose. You can do either one.

My thorn is this is a moving podcast. This is a podcast where we only talk about moving. Okay, so when I saw that you posted you were moving, I was like, I'm sorry, what? And then I'm like, oh, I bet it's just houses, hopefully, and it's not a new state.

Quick pause to talk about our sponsor, Factor. Are you ready to optimize your nutrition this year? Well, Factor has chef-made gourmet meals that make eating well easy. They're dietitian approved and ready to heat in two minutes. So you can feel right and feel great no matter what life throws at you. You guys, I love Factor. I know Alex loves Factor. We get meals sent to us weekly. And you guys know me. I don't cook. So if I'm not getting a meal sent to me, I'm just...

going to be eating garbage and Factor is the best way to make sure that I eat well-balanced meals with all the nutrition and protein that I need in my diet. The best thing too is that you can pick from Calorie Smart, Protein Plus, or Keto. And I love the Protein Plus because I have a harder time getting protein in my diet. free shipping that's code factor podcast at factor meals.com factor podcast to get 50 off plus free shipping on your first box no my God I'm exhausted from moving States um it's houses we were gonna stay in our house we were gonna buy our house we were gonna stay there and then like I

I don't want to buy our house. That's the only way I know how to put it. Once you live in a house for a year, you realize, okay, if I owned this house, I would change X, Y, Z. And then the market in Austin is changing a lot. And so also there's interest rates, X, Y, Z, okay? All these things that come into play. Basically, long story short, we're not going to buy this house. And our lease is up April 15th. And so I thought we were going to stay there. And then we just decided

last week like we're not staying there and so now we're looking for houses again in Austin and I'm excited there's a lot of silver linings to it it's just you know moving's exhausted so that's my thorn um that's my thorn do you did you guys find a house are you still currently looking I

Still currently looking. We found this one and it is like the location is a dream. It's one house. It's one street off South Congress. You can walk to everything. But like it is a full fixer-upper. And Harrison's like, what a fun project. And I'm like, with the five-month-old? Like it would be cool to make it our own because the location is so great. But like I don't know if I have that in me.

in me right now so that's a no I wouldn't have said it if we were going to do it but so we're looking and the the funny thing about it is like buying a house or renting again it's just like the time is ticking and so I think that the timeline just sort of caught up to us and we're like whoa gotta hurry do you think you'll do this like I know you said you were looking at South Congress but are you trying to stay in the same neighborhood since you I feel like

You know that area so well And you have friends over there You're like We'll move anywhere in Texas Or in Austin No we're We're trying really hard So The area I just referred to Is not where we live So that's fine But like I I want to stay where we do live So

so because we have the nanny share on our street, which is like a dream come true. We can walk there and like that's really easy. If I need to run over there, it takes me literally a minute. And so to stay walking or a very short drive from where we are right now would be ideal. So we're going to try for that. There's just nothing on the market. So fingers crossed because all it takes is a day, like one thing to pop up on Zillow and you know that.

that could change everything. So we'll see how it shakes out. But right now it just feels like some unknowns, but nothing that we can't handle. So yeah, that's the thorn. I just, I know the housing market just across the board is it's rough out there right now.

It is. And with a kid, I'm like, I just want to know. I really don't want to move into a temp spot and then move to another spot. I know that I could do that. I just don't want to do that. So it's always interesting, though, when things like this happen because you know the universe will handle it, right? You're just like, what's meant to be will be. But it's so funny not knowing what that is. We'll see. Keep you posted. Do you have any things that you and Harrison are like, the house must have?

Like, do you have like a couple? You know, it's funny. I've really changed on this. I used to have a lot and now I've, I've really come off of a lot of them. Um, I don't need, I don't need a big house. I don't need a small house that square footage wise. Doesn't really matter. Like,

Like we have to have two bedrooms. Three would be nice. The only thing I don't want is what we have now, which is these stairs that are like see-through, you know? Those really scare me when she starts walking. And that's a big part of why I want to move too.

And so I want the house to be safe and practical for like kids. But other than that, no, I've really just decided like I care about location and that's it. Yeah. I actually thought about your stairs because you have the steep ones that you're right. They like don't have a back. So if I mean, she wouldn't be allowed to like walk up those stairs and she was like 15. Yeah.

Yeah, like we have them to the basement and upstairs. And like, I lose a lot of sleep over those stairs. They really scare me. Even people carrying her up and down them scares me. So I'm excited just to get somewhere that I feel really good about. Yeah, I'm excited to see where you guys end up. And then...

I can, that will be like the mile marker of when I come to visit. Austin will be once you guys move into your new house and get settled so I can see it. Exactly. Exactly. And I just, yeah. So we'll, that's my thorn is moving. And I know with all this, all we do on here is talk about moving. Like when I typed it in, I was like, here we go again. I never thought it would be me. We are, like you said, a moving podcast. I'm dead. It's moving. We need, we need a moving sponsor. We have got to move out. We've got to reach out to somebody. No, literally. Yeah.

What's your thorn? So I forgot. Have you watched White Lotus season three yet? Are you still watching one and two? No, I'm on Landman. Okay. I'm watching. I've taken a turn to Billy Bob Thornton. That's what I'm hooked on right now. So no, I haven't watched it. But you haven't watched any of the seasons, right? Right. Okay. So my thorn is that, and I won't give any spoilers away because you haven't seen it or anyone listening, is that season three sucks. I think...

Sunday, the third episode came out. And usually by three episodes, you're like, okay, the show starts to take a turn. Like, that's usually where I will stop watching a show if it's not good. And Pete and I were just like, what? This season sucks. And it really pisses me off because...

Season one and two were gold. They had a stellar cast. The storyline was great. It had a lot of like comedy, but also sexy scenes. And in season three, I'm just like, okay, you have the star-studded cast, but what is this storyline? What is the chemistry between these characters? What is going on? Like it is, if it wasn't White Lotus, I would not watch episode four.

Do some people like it, though? What's the consensus online? I haven't seen any positive reviews online. Like, I haven't seen super negative, but a lot of people are just kind of confused. Like, what's going on? Like, there's no connections yet. Okay, so people are bored. Like, it's not good. No one's amped up about it. Yeah, and, like, it's just not very sexy or taboo, which it has been in the past two seasons. And it's just...

I don't know. They have one more episode to redeem themselves or I might stop watching because I'm pissed. And it sucks too because they've had so long to make this season. Or not, I shouldn't say so long, but they had like, because of the writer's strike, they had an extra long time since season two. So you thought, I thought that they were going to like come out with this banger of a third season and redeem themselves. But I'm just like, no, you're putting a bad taste in my mouth. I'm done.

Wow. So wait, are you going to watch episode four? I will, but if it's as bad as episode three was, I'm done. Oh, I see what you're saying. Okay, you're done after that. This is the deal breaker. And how many are there? Twelve episodes? I think there's only like eight. That's why I'm nervous. Oh my God, we're going to be halfway there and it's not good. That's not promising. Is that blonde girl with short hair in it? There is. Is she really tall and thin? Yeah, and she's somebody's girlfriend.

Like a famous person's girlfriend? Yeah, I just saw her at an awards show, and then somebody commented, like, she plays an excellent something, and I thought it was in White Lotus. I mean, this could not be more vague, so I'm very sorry. There is a tall, thin woman in White Lotus, and she plays, like, a lot of, like, side characters in TV shows, but she's really good at playing kind of, like, a bitch. Yes, this is her. Okay, yeah, people say she's good at it. Like a stuck-up bitch.

But I love her as an actress. I think she's just hilarious. Yeah, people at the comments section really liked her. Yeah, she's good. But yeah, so that's my thorn. I'm a little bummed, but it's okay because I have other recs to tell you guys later on in the episode. I saw your rec.

Oh, God. I know. I'm excited to talk to you about it. But before we do... I can't wait. Yes. I need to know what your thorn is. No, my rose. I was like, what? What your rose is. My rose is my child recognizes me. She has not recognized me yet until maybe the past three days.

And then right now, because Harrison's at Expo West, she has a nanny here. It's one of our friends there out of town. So like we're using her. And whenever I gave her to her, she started crying. And then whenever I would walk in the room and I would leave, she started crying. And it's the most rewarding feeling on the planet because it's like,

Now she knows who I am and like she does want me. It's hard because you don't want to leave her, but it's the best thing ever because you're like, she knows who her mom is. Does she recognize Harrison? Yeah, she does. She cries when either of us leave the room. Wait, that's really cute. What?

Yeah, it's really sweet. And she likes to play with things now. Like we play. We love Diet Coke cans because she's teething and like she can put her teeth on it and they're cold. And so it's fun now. She's like interacting. And so... Okay, let me ask you this though. What do you think about half birthdays? Six month old birthday. I mean...

I think if as a per, like a kid, if you want to celebrate, yes. But as a parent, I wouldn't celebrate it. Cause I don't want my kids to get used to it. But I think before they turn one, it's fine. Only the six month mark, like two and a half or not, but the six, cause I saw one of my friends posted, like I've seen a lot of my friends actually post, they have this like crown and it has the one half on it. And I was always like, Oh,

I don't think we're going to do half birthdays. And I'm like, oh, I might, I might be doing it. It's just like the cutest thing ever. Wait, is she almost six months? September, October. Yes. Oh my God. Yeah. March 17th, right? Yes. She's going to be six months old. And that's when she realizes like her and I are different people. So like, right. And I think she's realizing it right now though. I think we're a little early on that because she clearly, she didn't used to cry because I think she just thought she was me. And now I think she realizes I'm mom and she's Tate.

And so I think it's starting to happen. But yeah, I was like, oh my God, I always thought I wouldn't match her. I would love to match her in any matching pajamas. And I'm like, I might be putting the half of your crown on her head. A quick pause to talk about our sponsor, Quince.

Who doesn't love the good things in life? Even though I enjoy a little luxury, it doesn't mean I can always afford it until I discovered Quince. Quince is my go-to for luxury essentials at affordable prices. And you guys, I love Quince. I know Alex does too because we get so many awesome, well put together products from Quince. I know Alex has a cashmere sweater and we just love their products and they're so affordable, which is awesome.

Also, Quince offers a range of high-quality items like I was just talking about with prices that are in reach, like 100% cashmere sweaters from $50, washable silk tops and dresses, organic cotton sweaters, and 14-karat gold jewelry. They have so much you can choose from. I actually just got my mom a gift for her birthday off of Quince, but I'm not going to say it right now because she hasn't received it yet, but...

Love, love, love Quince so much. So give yourself the luxury you deserve with Quince. Go to quince.com slash mean for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. That's quince.com slash mean to get free shipping and 365 day returns. quince.com slash mean. I think every milestone before they turn one is doable to celebrate. Like the first time she walks, talks, all that. Teeths.

Might as well. Yes. I know. I'm like, oh, it's also precious. So that might be my update in a few weeks. We'll see. When do kids usually start talking and walking? Well, they walk around a year, like a little bit, like anywhere from eight months to any time after a year, right? Anything. And then talking, I think, is the same. Okay. Or not eight. I think it's more like 10 months to a year beyond. Okay.

Okay, so she still has time before her first words come out. Yeah, I thought she said dada the other day. And I was like, what? Because if you search on TikTok, there are some babies that will talk early. And so anything can happen. She could throw out a dada or a mama one day, but she hasn't. And I don't think it's anywhere near. I'm just saying it is possible. That's wild. Wait, um...

Where did Harrison end up taking you for your date last week? Remember on the podcast, you're like, we're going on a date. Yes. Okay. Oh my God. What is this guy's name?

Oh, no. Oh, my God. His last name's... We went to a concert. We went to dinner. And then we went to... And Austin has these really awesome, like, 500-people outdoor barbecue joint venues that country singers will go to. And, like, so I went and saw Miranda Lambert by myself when I was pregnant because she did a 50-person new release for...

Yeah and like I don't know I don't remember why I got invited But Harrison was out of town And I like felt like crap But I was like I will go to this for 30 minutes And I just like stood in the back Like really pregnant And

And because I just wanted to see the venue and it was at this place called Stubbs and there was literally 50 people in there. But, you know, country artists like they love to do that. And so this one. So she's an example of like a big one that came. But this guy, this was his first sold out tour. And it was something Newman. We'll go back to that. But you did you go to the concert?

Yeah, so we went to this like 500 person venue and it was like outdoor and they had like hot dogs and beers and it was just like such an Austin vibe and it was so much fun. Oh my God, I love that. And then did he remember your childcare? Oh, so we did a, I think it's Max McNown or something. How did you go from Max McNown to Max McNown?

Yes, that guy. Okay, so we went and saw Max McNown, and he's got a song that you know, and I don't know what it is, but it's really good. And like, he was so fun to listen to. He's got a phenomenal voice. Like, this isn't... What I love about these venues is they don't have like a massive production, right? So like, you really... You can tell if the artist is talented or not. Like, this guy was super talented. So...

We went to that. And then for childcare, our neighbors have been saying, let's do, like, let us watch your kid and, like, you guys watch ours and, like, let's swap date nights, right? Because it's, like, $150 here, $150 there for these babysitters. And they're across the street and vice versa. And, like, we love their baby. They love our baby. So he did book it in advance. Like, they had known since Monday. Wow. And they watched Tate, and it was so much fun. So we're going to watch their baby soon. I love it.

I love that. That sounds so fun. It was a really fun date night. It was like a blast. And it just wasn't, I was like, even if it's dinner, I'll be happy. But the concert was really fun. And we just like stood there and danced and it was great. Mom and dad night out. Exactly. I mean, we were home by nine, but it was great. Literally my type of night.

Yeah. You will thrive in motherhood because you will be like, like I can go till 11, right? I would love to stay. I can kind of turn into a night owl. Not anymore. No, no. I want to be, I was in bed last night, eight o'clock. I was like so happy. I, the main reason why I want a dog is so I have that excuse of, oh God, got to get home to the dog. Sorry guys.

Sorry about it. Can't add. Julie does it to us all the time. So I was like, I have to go feed Jenny. Yeah. Like that's, and that's a valid excuse. Like that thing has a heartbeat. You got to go. Oh yeah. That's my mom loves it. Oh, got to go take Elroy out. He's been by himself for too long. And I'm like, I love it. I need that. I saw this video of someone that was like the worst part. It might've been, it might've been the I've had it girls. Somebody though was like, um, the worst part about your kids going to college is like, there goes that excuse. Like now what are you going to do? You can go to the party. Yeah.

Oh yeah. Cause yeah, you have the excuse of a baby now forever. I'm always like, oh, I can't. Yeah. That is so funny. Harrison actually won't let me, he's like, you can't use that excuse unless you like, it's like for real. Like he won't let me, like if I just want to stay in, he won't let me say like, Tate, you know, I need to stay home because the XYZ, he's always like, you have to be honest about it. And I do think that's a good rule. Like if, if she, cause if she does need me, right, then I can't go. And like, I can say that, but I can't.

But I can't just like use her as a random excuse because I don't want to do something. And it's been good holding myself accountable to that. I always thought you out of everyone I knew had the most energy. But I think Harrison might have the most energy out of any human being I've ever met. And I don't know how. He does. He has way more than me. I don't understand. I mean, this is the nicest way. Does he have like ADHD or is he just run off of he can just not sleep?

He just cannot sleep and he can function like he has no ADHD. He just is like, I don't know. His whole family though, like his mom, she still skis. She can go ski all day every day by herself. Like they, the whole family just has a lot. They run marathons. Like they all, they got a lot of energy, like pure energy. You know what I mean? Like real energy. Yeah. Like he can be extroverted and not get exhausted. Completely. And he just can like,

work all day and then like go to a dinner and like I don't I never really see anything like it it's quite it's nice to be around though yeah I would I would love to just see what that's like for a couple days to see how much I would get done he gets a lot done but he's also not afraid of like he'll have a day where he's just like let's just stay you know like on a Saturday morning like if we sleep until 10 he's like that's perfect like he doesn't need to be moving he's definitely down to sit and hang which is really nice that is really nice I love that

What's your rose? So I finally got my PR from road. That's my rose. Okay. So tell us about the DM, but the address. So the, the day we posted the clip on mean girl pod, they liked my DM about my address. And I was like, Oh, that's interesting. Very interesting.

Very coincidental. How ironic that they liked it the day the clip came out. But that's all they did. And I was a little confused by that. And then, I don't know. I think I texted you guys maybe a couple days ago. So like two or three days later, they texted me and not text me. They DM'd me. Just casual texting with the road. No big deal. Let me pull up the DM so I'm not just guessing. They DM'd.

And they were like, hi, Jordan. So sorry about the delay. It looks like it got lost in the mail. We'll send you a new package. Here's a tracking number. And here's an email for future reference. And overall, I was very happy that they at least sent me something. But I was a little bummed that they just didn't. Like, it's not a coincidence that. No, it's not a coincidence. I've never had a package get lost from a brand. No. And you know what?

I just, I think he, I don't know. The only thing I have with it is saying the package got lost. I would almost rather a, we, you know,

You posted a clip. Let's not pretend like the package got lost. Let's just be like, yo, eat crow, right? Like, we never sent it. That is so my bad. We're road. We have a lot going on. You're getting one. It's coming right now. We're going to make good on that. But they still did it. So like, that's great. But like the amount of PR they sent me, I was like, this is an apology because they sent me so much. Like I got a makeup bag, which I didn't even know they sold. Blankets.

Lip peptide. Skin care. I'm like, okay. I have gotten PR from a lot of companies. And I've never received. Like this was like a gift. That's no problem. And I was like, thank you. I appreciate it. Because I do love their products so much. And I just wish that they. I just wish they handled it all a little differently. Or took accountability. But whatever. I got my PR.

I have a new lip gloss on. I love it. I'm so glad you got your PR. And I noticed in the DM, they did say, let us know if you ever need any refills. So that's nice. Yeah. And they gave me an email. That's really, really nice. Which I can reach out to. So no beef with road. Like I said, even if I had beef with them, I would still use their milk glaze. Quick pause to talk about Ollie. Yeah. For these brands, brands didn't used to have this like online accountability that they have now with the ability of like, because I even use the example of road sending people emails

It's like influencers like yourself, this like giant box, but then people getting their boxes, you know, and they just get their lip gloss like thrown in a box and people are like, wow, I would rather have more presentation. It's like we didn't used to be able to hold brands so accountable as we can now where like anybody can just turn their camera around. And I think that's a really cool thing. Oh, yeah, for sure. But I don't think they like knew that was coming, right? Like I don't think that that's also new for the brands to learn. Oh.

Oh, my God. Yeah. And I'm not someone who usually speaks out. I usually just like whatever. But I was like, you know what? I think it's time that I stand my ground. I was feeling frisky. I'm worked out. Yeah.

I just feel ballsy today. I'm going to say something. No, it all worked out. I'm really glad they sent it to you. I'm glad it was a big box. That's exciting. Thank you. I know this is when I wish I lived in the same city as you guys because I could have given you – there's a few products that I can't use because, I don't know, I have like a weird reaction to vitamin C or like anything with pineapple in it and they're face wash. And I think another one of their products has pineapple in it. And I was like, oh, I could have given this to Alex, Julie, or Priscilla. But –

I don't live in Austin. But I don't live there. Speaking of vitamin C, I've been meaning to update you on this. I know I said I could use vitamin C and I really liked it. I can't. I can use it. But it does something weird to my face. I started breaking out a little bit. And so I stopped using it because you said that. Whether it was coincidental or not, the breakouts did stop. I have like a little hormonal breakouts, but they, for the most part, that, I think that was it. Yeah, it's anything with...

With fruit in it too, like I said, like the pineapple or anything with sometimes they have like weird ingredients where it's like hibiscus or passion fruit. And I just can't put any of that on my skin.

Yeah, no, I'm with you. I need a fragrance, fruit-free situation on all my skincare as well. Yeah. So with that being said, why are you in Orange County? Want to give us a little update since you're back in your homeland? Yes. So I'm in Orange County for Expo West, which I don't think – I didn't know about Expo West before.

before I met Harrison, but it's this like huge food and beverage, um, convention. It's like, it's their Superbowl. Right. And every, I mean, you name a lot of people, Austin's got a big CPG hub. Right. So it's like everyone from there that has a food or beverage company is here. Like the, our flight from Austin to LA was jam packed full of them. And then I'm sure all the directs to Santa Ana are also, um, and,

Yeah, you just walk. It's a convention center. And you just walk the halls and you'll see like Siete, Olipop, you name them, they're there. Wait, so what's like who goes there? Like do brands go there to work with them? Or like is it a like what's the purpose of it? So brands, from what I'm gathering, it's a big deal for brands. They'll launch a new product. They'll launch a new flavor. Yeah.

Launching a new product today I don't know if I can say what it is yet I don't know so I'm just not gonna say it Because I know it doesn't launch to the public yet Like I haven't understood if I can Well I'll say it and then we might have to bleep it It's called Baconics Okay It's a bacon It's like a bacon sauce Oh my god yum I know

I know. Doesn't your mouth water? Like imagine that on a burger or something. It's like bacon flavored. I mean, is Rob's is he, did he bring Rob's popcorn with him? Like, are they going to have a stand there? I think Rob's flock and baconics have a stand and I think they're right by each other. Oh, I love Rob popcorn. And I know flock is like the big one for right now. And so, okay. So the thing about it is, so investors come, brands come, um,

And then like the buyers come Whole Foods etc But like And a lot It's like the founders It's the So it's everyone is here All in one place And a ticket to go To the To the show is like $750 Like it's This is like their Super Bowl For CPG And so like if they're If they're raising like a new round They're like

or if they have investors that are here, or if they want to get into Whole Foods or something, and the Whole Foods people are walking around. There's a lot of that going on. And they go all out on these booths. I'll show you some photos when I go today, but it's a whole thing. This is their biggest event of the year. It would kind of be like...

The podcast version's kind of like upfront, but it would almost be like upfronts on steroids, I would say. Very cool. And then you are going... Are other people like you there to go and talk to brands to see if there's sponsorship opportunities? Yeah. And so, okay. So for example, yesterday in the airport, I met Mac, the Cleveland kitchen guy in person. Oh my God. He was... Yeah, he was downstairs and...

First of all, he is a real life 6'6", 6'7", foot tall person. I met him on Zoom. And whenever I met him, I was like, didn't know about this over Zoom. And he was like, oh, yeah.

Yeah he's so tall but like they're There so I'm really excited to go to their booth And talk to them because we love Cleveland kitchen Yes and And so yeah there's a lot and then Olipop our guy Stephen was telling me Now like a lot of these brands Now have like an influencer Component to them you know Like some people have like the face of an influencer Or they'll have like a that'll Be like an investor of theirs so like there's Kind of that elements happening with CPG And

And then yeah, there's like a lot of brand sponsorships happening. Like last year, John Legend was there. I don't know why he was there. He has something to do with some brand. I think I know Chrissy Teigen has a food brand. It could be that maybe he went for that. I don't know. So there's just like a lot going on. Wait, do you get free samples when you go there? Oh,

All of it. Yeah, they're literally like, you would eat like a light lunch because you walk around, you try every single sample and there's everything. Like if you're dairy free, this is the place because like they have it all. Oh my God. That would be my dream come true. I love things like that. It's like amazing. Like you'll get a full waffle, you'll get a full sandwich, like whatever it is they have. I mean, and they're giving out like

This is where they're giving out like a lot of samples. Yeah, that's sick. And is it just like two days? Three days. It's Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. So it's a fun little shebang. That's cool. And then it's kind of cool too because you get to see Harrison do his thing and he gets to see you do your thing.

Yeah. And like they and it's fun. Like they have parties at night, dinners at night, you know, and so like that's cool for them. Like it's just a whole it's like a conference, but on steroids. Yeah. Like you said, it's their Super Bowl. It's the food world Super Bowl.

Yeah, exactly. So it's really fun. I'm like really happy to be out here. I went last year, but I was pregnant and like nobody knew and it just was like a cloud. So this year I couldn't taste anything last year. Everything made me want to throw up. So I'm like, I'm so excited to go this year. So that'll be fun. But I know the reason we're talking about this is because we're talking about, you know, feeling stuck this episode and our past experiences.

I was listening to Selena Gomez's song on the way here. What is it like? Last night was the last night of my past life. What's that song called? Is it called past life? I believe so. I know what song you're talking about, but I'm so bad with song names. I think it's called past life. Like last night is the last night. And I was driving around thinking, I was like, that's so funny. Like I used to live here.

Yeah, when was the last time you were back or you were in Orange County? Besides for the food. I came twice pregnant because I love it here. Like this is a top five place for me. And I know it so well. So I do enjoy being here. But I guess, I don't know. I was here like maybe six months ago or something. Quick pause to talk about our sponsor, Mint Mobile. Throughout all the places you lived...

Do you feel like Orange County was the place you felt the most stuck? Or does it just stand out to you because it was the place you were before you moved to New York and started your content, your barstool and all that? So it's funny. I actually credit Orange County for unstucking me. How about that? Wait, why? Yes, because it was the first place I ever moved. And so I felt stuck everywhere.

And I don't want to say I felt so stuck. I wanted to do something about it in Oklahoma, but I did have this underlying desire to go and see what it would be like to move. And then once I moved out here to Orange County, I was like,

It was, you know, it's not such a big city. It's not an LA or a New York. It's very close to LA, but it's very much its own bubble. And so it was a really comfortable place for me to dip my toe in the water of moving. But I credit this place for like making me feel comfortable enough to move. And then I realized here, like, I love, I love having moved. I love having to make new friends. Like I really found a version of myself here. And so that was like, it was like a very important chapter in my book, I would say. Yeah.

Did you, I forget, did you start content part-time in Orange County or was it like mainly when you moved to New York? Well, I moved from Orange County to LA and when I moved to LA, so COVID hit while I was here.

And then while I was here, we moved to L.A. because I wanted like more action. So I wanted to see what I thought Orange County was like. And then I was like, OK, I like this. Like I love living in these cities. There's like a lot going on in the world. So then we moved up to L.A. That's like really where I started making the content, I would say, was when I lived in L.A. Yeah. Yes, because that's where I dyed my hair blue. Yes. And so it was when I...

It was when I moved to LA, but do you know that I think I attribute like my time here to me realizing like you can kind of do anything because I didn't have a lot of friends here. I read a lot of books here. I read more books here than anywhere else. I got up at 5 a.m. here and I would like take a cold shower and I would go exercise and I like ate healthy and I really loved it here. And so I gained like a lot of focus here and tuned out a lot of noise.

Well, I lived here and I think that was a, that was really good for me. I feel like sometimes when you're the, and I don't want to say you were lonely, but when you are the loneliness, that's like when you have your, your breakthrough of figuring out how to become unstuck. It's almost like when you hit rock bottom, but not hitting rock bottom in a way. Because when I lived in Minnesota, I,

It was during COVID where I was like the most isolated, where I really got my focus and was like, this is my time to start doing what I want to do. Well, have you ever heard people say rock bottom is a really good place to stand? No, but I love that. Yeah. Like, like the, the, they, I like that they call it rock bottom. Cause it's like a solid foundation. It's like from there, that's where you stand up. And I've always found that to be true. I think it's where you test yourself. Yeah.

But on what you were just saying about Minnesota, like I want to ask you, did you find – what part of it – was it COVID because you weren't doing anything? Like what part of it made you – I mean that's where you started creating content too. What part of that – why did you feel stuck and then what was it that was like pivotal and feeling unstuck? So –

I feel like I felt stuck for the majority of my life. Living in Minnesota and then going to North Dakota for college and then moving back to Minnesota for three, four years, I just always had this feeling that I didn't belong here. I always wanted to do pop culture. I always wanted to be on E! News or Good Morning America. For as long as I can remember, I always just wanted to be involved with the pop culture scene. And I just didn't feel like

I could do that in Minnesota and North Dakota. And I didn't feel like people supported that decision because no one else was doing it back then. And back then, like,

People weren't becoming influencers. It was all we knew was like the OG YouTubers, Emma Chamberlain's, the Jake Paul's, the Tana Mojo's like those people. So when I would tell people that they were like, LOL, that's hilarious. Or I would post. I remember I would start posting and and I had friends that would unfollow me. I remember one time I started posting because I was into fitness for a little bit.

So I was like, oh, I'm going to become a fitness influencer. So I was like, you know what? I'm just going to go for it. I'm going to do it. And I remember that I had friends at the time being like, why do you keep posting your fitness stuff? And I had one of my best friends, her sister unfollowed me on Instagram. And it was just like a bunch of slaps in the face where I was like, you know what? I don't feel supported. So I gave that up. And that was like, I don't know, 2018. And

And then COVID happened and I was like, this is my time to shine because I don't know the next time I'm going to see a human being. No one can judge me. And if they see me on TikTok, I'm not going to see them where they can judge me. Like I didn't even tell my roommate, Sarah, who is one of my best friends now, that I was posting on TikTok until she found me and she was like, what's this? And I was like, oh, sorry. And she was like,

so, so supportive. And then when she showed support, I started to realize other people wouldn't like Madeline really supported me. My parents did. And they were really the only people I talked about it with. But that's why I felt comfortable to start posting because I didn't think anyone was going to find out. And it also kind of helped me become unstuck because I was like, well, what else can go wrong? I'm living in Minnesota. I do insurance and the

F it. Let's just go for it. Like true rock bottom. Yeah. But also it's so crazy. Like that's a direct reflection of like, you didn't have to see anyone like people's opinions that they can matter. And then literally eliminating seeing them.

Is what now we don't have COVID, right? So like you do see people. So I see how it's hard for people in this day and age to like step outside. But for you, it was like a gift. But I have a question. I have another. I saw your video talking about how you started making pop. You started making content doing pop culture stuff. But then you quickly and I would read the video, but I don't I can't. I don't have it. Oh, the one I just posted. Yeah. And then and then you were like, but I quickly realized. But what was your sentence? You said my passion is.

Let me quick. I really liked the way it was worded. I think a lot of people can identify that with like I started doing X, Y, Z, but then I quickly realized my I don't want to know the word. I started or I got I got started on social media doing pop culture, but soon realized lifestyle content was my passion. I've really been struggling to grow a community.

From that passion. Yes. I thought that was a really well worded video that like a lot of people probably can identify with because you start making content where you start anything in life, right? You start a business, you start whatever. And then you quickly realize like, that's not your passion. That was just a stepping stone. Yeah. And then you, you change it. And I thought that was, I had written that down on my notes of like a way of feeling unstuck. It's just like realizing what you love and then pursuing that way.

And realizing that you can change at any point, like...

I went to therapy this morning and my therapist told me, again, I've known this for a while. She went to medical school and was a full-on doctor and then realized it wasn't for her and then decided to become a therapist at 34. Yeah, like that? 34. And a lot of people get on this timeline thing and it's like, no, you have no idea what can happen. Someone just DMed me today and they were like, I think she was like, I'm 30. I finished grad school, but I don't want to do it anymore. I'm like,

don't like don't do it your 50 year old self will be so much happier there's no timeline like only you can change your life and if you just feel like you can't do it you're just gonna you're gonna stay stuck for the rest of your life until you choose to not be stuck

Yes, I texted my friend Nugget today and I was like, she was just like, what's new? And I was like, well, what's new is I had a realization last night that like my life was almost completely different than it was. And like I made like a very hard U-turn at 29. Like,

Getting divorced And at the time I was like so in it And I felt Like I always say this I could not see the next step But then I like zoom out And I'm like Thank God I trusted myself Because it was so hard At some points I almost couldn't Follow through with it But like I land here today And I'm just like Out here for this expo And I'm just like so Happy with the way Like the cards fell And I'm like

But it's like, if I would have let the timeline hold me back or if I would, you know, any of those things you were just talking about, hold me back. Like it could have been at such a different ending. And like, it's not, it's not ended yet, but it's like it, my trajectory is a different path than it was. Oh my God. Yeah. And it's, I mean, it's similar to you probably leaving Oklahoma, you getting divorced, you choosing a non-traditional path, even you having like a baby with,

like not in marriage. Like they're all these things that people might look like frown upon or not think that it's okay to do, but they're all things that have brought you so much enjoyment in your life because you made the decision to not fall like the social norm and just do what makes you happy. Yeah. And that was real. Like every single thing you just like listed was really hard, right? Like it was really scary. And a lot of times if I paid attention to like what was right versus what

And not what's actually right, but what people tell you is right. Right? If I would have followed the path of like what's correct, what do you call it? Societal norms? I have no idea. Yeah. Then I would be in a very different path than I am now. Like I would be living in Oklahoma probably. And it's like...

But that's not what I wanted. And so to keep like choosing what you wanted or like keep prioritizing yourself, I think is the antithesis of feeling stuck. Yeah. And I feel like when it comes to being stuck, it's a very frustrating conversation because so many people will talk the talk whenever walk the walk because they're

they'll either just be too scared to do it or they'll try it for a week and then they're like, oh, well, it didn't really work out. So I'm just going to give up. And it's like nothing good comes easy and only you can make the change. And I just wish people realize that there really is no timeline. And if you're unhappy where you're at in life, you can change it. Like you can change it at any point. Like there's no one saying you can't.

I totally agree. And I think that you'll like this. I saw it the other day and it was, it was just a quote and it was like, nobody knows what they're doing. Even if they have the job title of executive tech director or like head of it, like they still don't know. We know we do know exactly how to, the it director probably knows how to troubleshoot your laptop, but we're all kind of walking around like, I still don't know.

No idea. And I think that's a really, when you look at it through that lens and like forget, you don't take life so seriously, then I think you're able to take risks and like laugh at yourself, be self-deprecating, like put yourself out there. And I think that can help with feeling unstuck. It's just like, remember, they actually don't know what they're doing either. Like it's a little humbling. I saw a video and it was like advice you give to your 20 year old self. And they were like,

That you still won't have it figured out when you're 30, when you're 40 years old. And I'm like, that is so true because I'm just as confused now as I was when I was 18. And someone would look at me and be like, oh, she has it all. Like, she has a great boyfriend, a career. She's in New York, this or that. But it's like, no. I still am like, what am I doing with my life? What's going on? And that's why you need to not compare yourself to others. And I fall into this all the time. But it's so true because it's like everything.

Everyone is like, so what are we doing with our life today? I don't know.

Totally. Like it's 100% it. And it's like, some of us have like, it's imposter syndrome on steroids, but it's just like kind of cool to realize like we're all walking around and like, she looks like she has a fear. She doesn't know. We don't know. It's kind of funny. Like you can't help but laugh, right? Like I have no idea. Yeah. I think like the people you compare yourself with are just people that are willing to try to make the change and just have, I don't want to say the courage to make the change, but they do. But like,

They're still trying to figure it out. They just are more willing to make the change than you are maybe in this moment in your life.

Yeah, but learn from them, right? So like see them take that step in the back. I can take that step You know, I think that's a really good point There's like a little bit more guts and every time you have a little bit more like once you do it once you're like Okay, i'll just I have a little bit more guts left and i'll do this and then i'll do that And then before you know it you're like wow cool Yeah, and you don't have to make all the changes at once because like you and I Literally change jobs and move to new city, but some people can just do small things Um, yeah, no, I totally I could not agree more with that. Um

Okay. So I have to get going to the expo soon. So let's do our recs and then let's wrap this bad boy up. Perfect. Okay. What is your rec of the week? Week.

You're going to read it to me. It's a Mel Robbins episode. How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over from Mel Robbins, Dopamine, Motivation, and Attention. Okay, so the episode title is How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over, and she talks about where you get your dopamine, your motivation, and your intention and how to configure those. And it was a really good episode, so that's my rec to everybody. Oh, I love that. My rec is Running Point with Kate Hudson, and I need to know if you've started it.

So I tried to watch it on the plane, and then Tate was not going to let me. It's number one on my list. I'll probably watch it tonight, honestly. I cannot wait. Okay, it's really good. It's really cute. Great cast. It's just like a feel-good show, but I love Kate Hudson so much. And I laugh out loud watching it. So it's really good. Yeah, that will be – I'll have definitely watched it by the next time we chat. I also saw Kate Hudson talking about how she didn't take the role in Devil Wears Prada. Right.

Right. And like I didn't even I didn't even know she was offered it like it would not have been the same without Anne Hathaway. But like fascinating to know Kate was offered the role. So just a little tidbit there. But I did love what she said at the end of it. And she was like, everything does happen for a reason. And like I I try to believe that I didn't take that role because other things came my way. And I'm like, I love that outlook and perspective. Yeah, she's she's had to lose a guy for in 10 days for me. And Anne is Anne is Andy. Isn't it, Mandy? Yeah. Yeah.

In the movie? Yeah. Yeah. I love the way that it all played out, but I thought it was cute that she was like, I didn't, I didn't prioritize it. But like everything does happen for a reason. Wait, is it her name Andy and how to lose guy 10 days too? Or is it Andy? Oh my gosh. Or wait, is it Andy and both? Is there any? Yeah, I think it is both. Oh my gosh. Great catch. Right. Andy. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Andy, Andy Anderson. Yeah.

Yes. In How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. And Andrea, which I believe her boyfriend calls her Andy. Oh, that's right. Andrea. Andrea. That's right. I can hear her saying that now. Meryl. Oh, my God. I love that. Okay. Well, with that, we will let you get going to the expo. Have so much fun. And we will see you guys next week. See you guys next week. Bye.
