Push presents, extravagant gifts given to women after childbirth, are being discussed due to their growing trend, especially among celebrities like Pookie, who received a $30,000 Hermes Kelly bag as a push present.
Zach Bryan has been accused of being abusive in relationships, with multiple ex-girlfriends alleging he controlled their appearance and behavior. Brianna Chickenfry, one of his exes, has spoken out about the emotional toll of their relationship, while another ex-girlfriend, Sophia LaCour, has been criticized for victim-blaming Brianna.
Both hosts agree they couldn't date actors due to the difficulty of seeing their partners kiss or have intimate scenes with other people on screen. They find it hard to separate personal and professional life in such scenarios.
The hosts suggest leaving the situation alone and not bringing drama to the bride's special day. They recommend reevaluating the friendship afterward to see if it's balanced and supportive. Being a supportive presence at the wedding can strengthen the friendship in the long run.
A Kelly bag has one handle and a shoulder strap, while a Birkin has two handles and no shoulder strap. Both are iconic Hermes bags, but Birkins tend to be more expensive and exclusive.
The hosts believe Coach is making a strong comeback with high-quality products and stylish designs. They attribute this resurgence to the brand's new creative director, who has brought a fresh, modern approach to the brand's offerings.
Both hosts rave about Cozy Earth's sheets, which are temperature-regulated to keep you cool year-round. They also mention the brand's pajamas and cuddle blanket as must-have cozy items for the holiday season.
The listener question is about feeling hurt after not being asked to be a bridesmaid in a best friend's wedding, leading to a realization that they might not be as close as they thought.
The hosts recommend 'The Housemaid' series by Freida McFadden, a thriller about a young woman who becomes a housekeeper for a wealthy family and uncovers dark secrets. It's a fast-paced, page-turning read.

Would you, if Pete was an actor, would you let Pete make out with or do like a bed scene with another girl? No, I don't think I could. I like genuinely don't think I could ever date an actor. Would you? No. No.
No, it'd be very hard. Zach is gross. Whoa. Like this dude is wacko. The fact that he's done this to multiple girls that he's dated and just gotten away with it. I'm just jaw was on the floor. Did you see Pookie's push present? I don't want to be rude. They look like a Kate Spade bag to me. That'll probably go viral. Welcome back to another episode of Mean Girl Pod. How are you?
Good. I'm great. How are you? I'm good. It's finally cold in New York, which I'm actually loving because it's a little hard when one day it's 80 and the next day it's 40. My temperature regulation doesn't work too well, so now it's like 50 and I'm feeling good. I'm wearing Uggs sweatpants. You're wearing Uggs. Uggs season is the best. Yeah. How cold will it get in Austin?
It'll get like 50s. That'll be like the coldest. It'll get maybe 40 some, but it drops next week. So we're very excited about that. But right now it's like lovely. Like it's lovely outside. It's just, it feels fall, but it's still kind of warm, but not like so warm. I was riding the bus today and I saw this little baby in, I don't know what it's called, but Tate has it. It's like the little fuzzy thing you zip her up in, but her hands are also stuck in it. What is that?
Well, I don't know what it's called. It's like I call her Teddy Bear, but... Yeah, and I... She was so cute. It made me think of Tate, and I was like, a little angel. How is she? She's good. She's just, like, growing. I get up in the middle of the night a lot, and I just go grab her even though she's asleep, and I just, like, sit with her because...
She's just every day I'm like you're getting bigger but it's cute. I have a lot to look forward to so I know that I just get sad about her growing up. No I was shocked. You sent me a picture of her yesterday and she looked so much older than when I saw her two weeks ago. I was like is this the same child?
I know. I know. She's basically a teenager now. I just look at her, you know, but she still can't like find the bottle even. Right. Like I give her so much credit. I'm like, she is like she can make sentences. And then I'm like, no, she can't. No, she can't. She still needs you. She's so cute. Oh, my God. Oh, I don't want a baby anytime soon, but I have baby fever for you. I cannot believe that you have baby fever. I mean, how far we have come.
for those words to come out of your mouth. The other day someone was like, Jordan, I know. Oh, it was when you posted the picture of Tate and I on your story. Someone DM me and they're like, Jordan, I know you don't want kids, but X, Y, Z. And I'm like, who said I didn't want kids? And then I was like, oh, wait, I did for like 10 years. Oh, me. I said it. No, I'm sorry. I'm changing my mind on that. You're like, you like DM her back and like, excuse you. How dare you say that? She's like, you only said it for literally two years on the podcast.
She's like wait what I know it's terrible We have all the records of it I thought you didn't have a monster today But it blends in with your shirt I was like oh you forgot it No literally my nails, my shirt My monster, my phone case I'm like all this one color
You're like, is it all... It's white. You're a white out. Yeah, it's like an off pink, an off purple. This is white. Because I'm drinking the Monster Energy Ultra or Zero Ultra, obviously, because it's my favorite flavor. But yeah, I'm just like a pastel-y white and pink and purple today. And I love it. Yeah, it feels very... It's a holiday color. It kind of feels New Year's of you. Yeah, I wonder...
What the color of 2025 is going to be. I don't remember what the color of 2024 was. Was it like a green of some sort? Was it? You know, I kind of want to say it was green. I'm going to Google it. Peach. It was peach fuzz. Peach fuzz? Julie's saying. Who picks the color? Anna Wintour? Like who gets to be the color picker? Pantone. Oh, Pantone picks it. That's right. Pantone does always pick a color every year. Yeah. Yeah.
Oh, they already have the colors potentially. So there are multiple colors of the year for 2025. They include future dusk, purple basil, cinnamon slate, violet, hammered black, and tissue pink. Oh, is it a bit of a depressing year? Sort of based on those colors? But it looks like future dusk, which is kind of a deep maroon burgundy, is the color of 2025, which I think I can get behind. Yeah.
Yeah, I like that. I don't know the way that they decided to describe those colors. What was the slate one? Cinnamon slate. Oh, well, cinnamon feels red, but slate feels blue. What's that color? Oh, I see. They're different colors or they're different color of the years by announced by different companies. So like cinnamon slate was announced by Benjamin Moore and
Future Dusk was announced by WGSN Purple Basil was announced by like PPG and Gildan So it's like different big paint companies I don't know Yeah a lot of those were paint companies That's funny Okay cool I mean I'm glad they're all picking their colors Wild I'm good to go with Pantone I think we can make Pantone our official color I think so too Whatever they pick
I don't see where their announcement is, but they'll probably wait a little bit closer to hopefully 2025. They're playing hard to get. They're making us wait. Exactly. Exactly. Oh, they have a countdown. Yeah, I'm in on that. We'll announce the Pantone color of the year. People are like, what the heck are you guys talking about?
You heard it here first, hot off the press Pantone's color of the year Change your wardrobe But how have you been? What's new? What are your roses and thorns? Catch me up Well, I'm officially changing my rose You know, as of 20 minutes ago When I found out my pump supply is like officially in Which is very exciting Because you like really work for that So, phew there Wait, what does that mean? I'm sorry
It means like I don't have to pump for 30 minutes now to get her enough milk. It means I can pump for like 20 minutes and I can actually get her too much milk. So my pumping time was just cut like down a good amount. Wait, that's incredible. So is that does that happen the longer you or the older Tate gets the less you have to pump for?
Well, I tell you what, I don't know because it's just every day is a new day. But people kept telling me online like one day it'll just come in and you'll have your body just knows to pump her enough milk. And I was like, there's no way that's ever going to happen. I'm always going to be behind. And then like last week it started happening. But today, like pumping right before this, I looked down and I had pumped the whole bottle and
So it's like I've been exhausted and I've been really hungry. And so I think my body was trying to produce more milk in a smaller amount of time. And so apparently I will grow with her. Beats me. The body is...
The motherly like instinct in the body knowing that I need to make more milk as she grows is crazy, but it is happening. Like if I just trust the process, it's actually happening. I mean, the fact that you grew her in your stomach is wild to me. I still get tripped up that we can birth children, that we just reproduce little human babies in our bodies. She'll be like kicking her feet.
And I'll be like, yeah, that was inside of me. Like she, she'll scrunch up sometimes. And I'm just like, you were just in my belly. Like if she would have come out two weeks earlier, she still would have been functioning. Like they're just in there hanging out. Well, it's so juicy. Pookie's push present. Sorry. So jump, jump. No, no, I'm sorry. I, that, that's way more interesting. Yeah.
I like haven't, I hadn't been up on like the Pookie life and I feel like she was pregnant for a minute, but I think she just announced later. Um, but yeah, she got like a $30,000 purse and he jet like made a video and he was like, um, I'm going to get Pookie something in West Palm beach. And like, he went to the air maze store and like, we didn't see what it was. And then he gave it to her in the hospital, um, bed and she opened it up and it's like a,
I guess a white Kelly. I don't really understand the Birkin bag situations, but somebody else posted like it's a $30,000 bag. And I thought, whoa, my beautiful angel pipe. He is preparing to give birth to our daughter. And now it is time officially time for her push present. But here we go. The second most exciting thing of the day. I'm so excited. Oh my God. Yes. A,
Cray Kelly 25 Epsom leather gold hardware just for Pookie. So beautiful. Almost as beautiful as Pookie. Babe, it's perfect. Straight from Palm Beach for Palm Beach Pookie. That's what you did there. Yes. That's what you went to get. Special mission. You're the best person I know and I want to get something really special for you for this incredible moment. So blessed to have you as a wife and
so blessed to have you as the mother of my child we're going to be the most amazing parents together I want you to know how grateful I am for you and all the wonderful things you do you're gonna be the best dad babe love you I can't wait to see you love it I love you so much okay I was just gonna ask you if Kelly is a style of Hermes Hermes Hermes Hermes Hermes I think it's a
I think it's a Kelly Birkin. I think Birkin, I think Kelly is a style of a Birkin, yeah. And Birkin is a bag underneath Hermes. Yeah, like a dunk for Nike kind of thing. Got it. Okay, because I did see that video. I mean, when you see a box that big from Hermes, you know it's going to be so expensive. But I do know the Kellys are, aren't they like very exclusive? Like you can't just walk into the store and pick anyone you want. It doesn't have to be...
Aren't they just either limited there or you have to pre-order them? You have to be on a list. You can't just say, I want one. You have to have bought enough from there. I think it's like a rewards program, but that is not what it's called. But you basically have had to have had an account there for a while and then you can qualify again, not what it's called, to get the bag. So that might be why he had to go to West Palm Beach. I don't know, but...
Here was my one thing, because I think they are the most adorable thing on the planet, and it is the sweetest relationship ever. I thought it was really funny that he didn't put tissue in the bag or anything. It wasn't really wrapped. It was just like, here's the bag. So I listened to the video on silent because I must have been on the airplane or something, so I couldn't play my music out loud or the volume out loud. And if you watch that video on silent, I mean, don't worry, I love Pookie, but it's just like she was getting...
a normal clutch from Target. She was just like, oh my God, thanks. Yeah, I was like, so you got the grocery delivery. No, literally. It says right here that a Kelly is around $33,000. And I Googled why is a Birkin called a Kelly? And it says the Kelly bag, on the other hand, dates back to the 1930s when it was initially known as the Saca de Peches. I don't know how to pronounce that. The popularity started with Grace Kelly.
The Princess of Monaco. So that's why it's called the Kelly. Let's talk about a Bada because love the holidays, but hate grocery shopping. That makes total sense. And that bag is a minefield of supply and demand.
Like it's my girl Morgan Stewart has a couple of the like, have you seen hers? They are the size of a duffel. Oh my God. So hers are probably in the range of like the $84,000 that like range. Let me see. Is that the, is that the.
So I'm trying to find the duffel. I don't want to be rude, but they're not that cute. They just look like a regular bag. They look like a Kate Spade bag to me. That'll probably go viral. But like not to be like, I don't know a ton about designer, but when I look at their website, I'm like, I would like, because Kate Spade does a lot of like that asymmetrical where it's like flat and kind of goes up like that.
When I think of that style bag, I think of Kate Spade, R.I.P. But I just – I'm looking right now, and I don't understand why you would spend that much money. Oh, Goyard is under – oh, no, sorry. I'm looking at Outlet Store right now. I was like, why is Goyard under Hermes? I think the thing is they're like a –
A novelty piece. So I'm with you. If you just showed it to me and like I knew nothing about anything, that bag for me isn't defined as beautiful in my eye per se.
But I think the thing, the appeal of it for people is they view it as like a luxury item, which I don't know if it appreciates or what the deal is. But I am with you. I don't, doesn't do it for me. Okay, I see handbags. You can have the Hermes Birkin, the Hermes Kelly, the Hermes Constance, Evelyn. Okay, they have like all, that's like a type of bag. So Kelly and Birkin are different.
So a Kelly's not a Birkin No Google is a Kelly a Birkin Watch me like literally be so wrong Is a Kelly a Birkin
The main difference between the two is that one is immediately evident that it's a Kelly bag. And on the other hand, wait, no, sorry. The main difference between the two is the main difference between the two and one is that immediately. Okay, that makes no sense. The Kelly bag has one handle on the top plus a shoulder strap, whereas the Birkin has two handles on the top and no shoulder strap. So they are different bags. So no, a Kelly is not a Birkin, but they are both iconic crafted luxury bags from Hermes.
It's kind of like if you know, you know, like you got to have studied that and be in the sort of the club to know that's a one handle or that's a two handle. Like we would be insulting so many people by saying a Birkin and Kelly are the same bag. Sorry, guys. Just you know, like I'm not on that side of the Internet. You know what I mean? Like I don't have a clue. So I wonder, did she get a Birkin or did she get a Kelly? Yeah.
She got a Kelly. Okay. I thought, I think it said Kelly in the caption. No, he said that's a Kelly. I will say a Birkin is- Somebody said Kelly. A Birkin is more expensive, just as FYI. How much is a Birkin? How expensive is a Birkin bag? So a Birkin bag, okay, but what I'm looking is, it looks like a Birkin bag is also around $35,000, but it looks like the Birkin is a little bit-
Like the Birkin smallest is the Kelly's biggest size wise. So can you go into a store at any given time and buy a Kelly? What's more exclusive? Oh, I have seen you can buy them on Revolve. Those are secondhand, right? They are their secondhand. So it says...
The Kelly and Birkin bags will both set you back a small fortune. The Birkin handbag does tend to be a little bit more expensive than the Kelly bag. This depends on a lot of the factors, hardware of the bag. So it doesn't say which one is more exclusive to get. I'm sure they both are. Well, Daily Mail is calling it $12,000, but I think that...
I don't know. You know who is... Oh, no, no, no. No, upwards cost of $30. Yeah, yeah. You know who, what designer is really making its comeback? Coach? Yeah. How did you know? I was going to say that. I've been seeing it everywhere. It really, you know, I think their quality is like the best. I'm going to buy myself a coach bag for my Christmas present and I'm going to get it tomorrow. Even though it's only November. Oh.
You should totally do that. What bag are you going to get? I want to get, it just came out. It's the Brooklyn shoulder bag. So it's like a little bit bigger of a tote. Just get a Google on that. Yeah, Google that. It's very cute. I want to say it's probably a little smaller than the Never, is it called the Never Fold or Never?
Well, I think it's called Neverfull, but it could be full. I have no idea, but I think F-U-L-L. So it's not like... Okay, I see. Yeah, it's smaller than that, I think, but I want a bag that I can travel and bring a lot of things in, but that's a little bit nicer. This is beautiful. Right? What color are you getting? I think I'm going to get the Dark Stone bag.
Okay let me see Maple Dark Stone Love it I love the way they show it on the website Like okay if you keep scrolling Have you seen the girl carrying it in like the bow jacket Yes that's why That's exactly why I also want to get it Because of how they advertised it I was like okay so she can put a lot in there
Yeah, they need to move this video to the front. Like I'm sold. Yeah, their bags. I was just looking and there was, you know, remember when you were really into denim, like the denim bags that you got from Valentino? They have an almost replica of that on their site.
Oh, really? Yeah. They have a couple denim. And I was like, oh, my God, this looks like Alex's old Valentino bag. It was crazy. I got to get on there and look. I think their bags last forever. I mean, there needs to be a case study done about the rebranding of their items because they went from, like, the top to the bottom. And now I would say they're, like, bumping back up style-wise. They hired a new...
Oh my God. Not a graphic designer. Oh my God. What's the word? Creative designer, creative director, coach, creative director. They hired a new guy that was at, it's going to take me too long to find, but I think he was somewhere like cool. And then he moved over there. I mean, it's very hip. Like their bags are like a lot of their bags are close replicas of other popular designers. So low, um,
Yeah, I said it wrong. I was like, oops, I'm going to cancel myself that he left there in 2013, which is weird because he must have gotten them on their like uptick because then was like the thing. And now then he left to go to coach at 2013. I don't know what it says. Wow. And 10 years later, they're making their comeback. Yeah, really cool. I thought it was like from J. Crew, but I guess not.
Interesting. I made that up. Let's talk about story worth. This is actually a full circle moment because last year for Christmas, I gave my dad story worth and the year before that for Harrison's dad's birthday, he gave his dad story worth and this story worth I think is the gift that keeps on giving. Um, so if you are spending the holidays with loved ones, chances are you're going to hear a lot of stories. The ones you love to hear the ones you've heard too many times.
But have you ever wanted to help your loved ones capture these timeless stories, not just for themselves, but for you, your entire family and future generations?
This is why, okay, so StoryWorth is really, really cool because basically you're giving your family member that you give the gift to a prompt. And I signed up to get the emails of the prompt that my dad was going to get. And you can skip prompts. You can say, no, this prompt's good. It would be like, what's your favorite childhood memory with your mom, for example. And I think this is the best gift because I didn't know what to get my dad. I think dads are really hard to shop for. Some of your family members, they are hard to shop for. That's why this is
is awesome and it's fun for you and it's fun for them to do. So here's how it works. Each week, StoryWorth emails you and a loved one a thought-provoking question that you get to help pick, which is just kind of what I talked you through. And StoryWorth makes the writing process a breeze. All your loved one needs to do is respond to the email with a story. It can be long, it can be short, it doesn't matter. Some days my dad's was long, some days it was short.
You'll be emailed a copy of your loved one response as they're submitted over the course of the year. It's really, it's really so special. After a fun year, StoryWorth compiles all your loved one's stories and photos into a beautiful keepsake hardcover book that you'll be able to share and revisit for generations to come. So I'm coming up on my year of all my dad's stories, which I'm like very excited about. So help your family members share and capture their stories this holiday season with StoryWorth.com.
Go to storyworth.com slash mean today to save $10 on your first purchase. That's S-T-O-R-Y-W-O-R-T-H dot com slash mean to save $10 off your first purchase. Storyworth.com. Well, enough about purses. What is your other rose? Because I see it starts with my favorite word, wine.
Oh, I was like my other rose. I thought you meant my thorn. I was like, well, okay, my, so I never could drink red wine because it gave me restless leg syndrome. Oh yes. I remember that. Yes. And now, so we went over to the neighbor's house the other day and they're like, do you want some red wine?
And I was like, sure, you know what? I'll try it. This is like, I can pretty much fall asleep anytime this, because I'm so tired, like constantly I'll try it. So I like had two glasses of red wine, thought it tasted phenomenal and I didn't get restless leg. So now my new thing is like, I can have a glass of red wine and I'm very excited about that. What kind of red was it? Cabernet Sauvignon, right? So I call that a cab, right? Yes. Okay. I was thinking maybe it was like a different type you've never had, but I'm sure you've had a cab. That's so interesting. It didn't give you restless leg. Yeah.
I know it's so weird. Like my restless leg is gone a bit, but like I have like little bouts of like sort of eczema type things. Like everything kind of just like swapped. But yeah, so that's that's my other rose. Oh, I love that. I don't love a cab, but I love that you can drink red wine. What do you like? Do you like the pinots or the darker ones? I like pinots. Like I love an Italian red or a pinot. Cabs are just a little too heavy for me. Like I'll drink it if that's what it has to be, but I don't love them.
I'm on a cat and you know you know what else I like it for fall I've never been able to partake in like a red wine for Thanksgiving moment and now I'm like I can yes you should you and Harrison should pick up um a Barbera that's my favorite Italian red it is so good oh my god I I cannot rave about it enough like I could drink that every day is that is that a type of red or is that a
Oh, it's an Italian red. Yeah, so it would be like... So domestic and foreign wines are... I can never remember. Like, if one's by the grape, the other is by the region. But if you, like, looked up just Barbera reds at the store, they would have, like, a whole list similar to, like, all Pinot Noirs. Okay, that's what I'll do because I'm gonna... We're gonna do...
I haven't like I've never gone to the store and like bought a like a bot never even like bought wine for the house but I'm like I'll get a bottle of red wine for like if I'm having a dinner or something so I'll go meander to a there's a wine store near here actually I'll walk to it oh I love that good for you what what are your roses and thorns um well you didn't give me your thorn or do you want to do your want me to do my rose first I think my thorn I can't even remember what it was but I think I wrote down that I was tired
You said eating.
Oh, famished. Yeah, I'm eating a lot. I'm trying to get my eating back. There's nothing less fun than trying to right your wrongs on eating. And like, I was like craving cakes and things. And then I was eating the cakes and things. So now I'm trying to like shift to protein helps you produce more milk. And look, I started eating protein. Look what happened. So I think there's a method to the madness. It's not as fun, but it is good for the body. So I mean, they really do say that protein is so good for you. And I'm trying to eat more protein too. And it's hard. But if they say it's going to help with the milk.
You gotta do that for sure then.
I've never regretted eating protein. You know what I mean? I've never been like, let me eat this chicken before I go for the cupcake. And then I've never been like, damn, wish I didn't do that. Right. My body's always like, thank you for the protein. We really wanted that. I've never felt icky from protein. Let's talk about Cozy Earth because tis the season to be cozy and tis the season to give the gift of Cozy Earth this Christmas. Jordan, what are your favorite Cozy Earth products? Because we cannot stop talking about it.
I mean, I say this every single time, not to be a broken record, but their sheets have changed my life. I live in a tiny New York City apartment where I have to run the AC even in the winter, even when it's 40 degrees. But my sheets keep me cool all year round because they have a cooling, like a scientific cooling thing in the sheets that just keeps me cool.
or they're temper regulated. I was like, what's a scientific term? They're temper regulated, temperature regulated. Sorry, I can't speak today. And they just keep me cool, Pete cool. I've just never slept better. And also I'm itching to get their pajamas because I'm on a pajama kick right now. And Alex, I know you wear their pajamas and you look so cute in them. Wait, when you lived in New York, did you ever go to Bond Street, the sushi place?
Yes, I did a couple times. Oh my God. I ate there last night. It was so good. Speaking of protein. Oh my God. They're like little tuna pizzas they have. I don't know if you ate that because I think it is gluten. It might have some dairy on it. Did you have that though? No. I don't.
I went twice with Harrison. He probably just like ordered some rolls and things. I like the atmosphere of it. And I always thought their sushi was not dry and it was like moist. And I really liked it. That's what I remember from it. Oh my God. It was so good. I was like this. It made me mad how good it was. Cause I was like, I've lived here for three years and I've never been.
I was like, it's a vibe and you can usually get a reservation like semi for as happening as it is. Yeah. And it was right next to Zero Bond. And I was like, I really want to see if like a famous person walks into Zero Bond or if like a cool person does. But I didn't see anyone. Swanky. So swanky. It's such a swanky street. That street. I love that street. It really is. And it's so pretty with like everyone. Everyone's trying to put up the decorations and stuff like it's very it was very pretty that it's a walk in the city last night.
What is your favorite kind of Christmas light? I don't know if I have like a favorite type, but I really love like that. Like the light blues and like the whites. Okay. Is that what you mean? That's an option. Well, my neighbor put up classic white, you know, not the bright white, but the classic white with the classic bulbs on their house. They put those up yesterday. So I said to Harrison, Harrison,
My favorite kind of Christmas light is the Christmas Vacation. It's the classic multicolored bulb. So who's putting up the Christmas lights in your household? Oh, that's a higher out situation because we got a tall house. Are you kidding me? No disrespect to her, so I just can't picture him putting up Christmas lights.
Where he thrives will be the inside. He'll wrap our staircase. He'll have Tate. This place will be a winter wonderland. When it comes to those lights outside, yeah, those got to be the guy named Gavin. We're going to use the people that the neighbors used. But I think you got to set the pace early. The neighbors put theirs up, and I'm like, we got to get ours up.
Like we got to let them know we will also be participating in the Christmas lights. Yes. I mean, and if it makes you feel any better, my mom puts up the Christmas lights, not my dad. Of course Tracy does. Of course she does. I love that. Does she put them on the house though? Yes. How? How does she do that? I mean, I know how she does it, but is it a tall house? No, it's like a one story house, but she, I mean, she gets on a ladder and puts them up.
She shouldn't be. Clark Griswold. She's up there stapling. Like I just picture him.
Every time. I'm like, there he is up there. I was just like, she's like, yeah, I got to put the Christmas lights up soon. And I was like, tell dad to do it. And she was just laughing. She's like, I can't tell you the last time your father put up Christmas lights. And I just shook my head. I was like, oh, my God. It would be a rewarding feeling. Like, well, what kind of lights does she put up? Just like the standard Christmas lights you buy at Target. Like the smaller bulb.
That just wraps around the house. Nothing crazy. My parents do small bulb too. They do green and red. Oh, I think my mom either does white or green or red. Just like the standard color. Nothing too like pizzazzy.
Yeah, I kind of want to pizzazz it out. I've been on Pinterest looking up my inspo's. I'm like, what kind of tree am I doing? I got a kid now, you know, I'm like, I really got to make sure she has good Christmases. She has to remember. And Hanukkahs, yes. She has to remember. Yeah, I think we're going to do a bow theme, maybe like a bow tree and then a menorah that I might put bows on. So I've got to really figure that out.

So I know we talked about this, but like they really got to get Hanukkah to be fixed, like a fixed date that leads up to Christmas. Right? Yeah.
Yeah, I did order some Hanukkah pajamas, though. Oh, I love that. That's gonna be so much fun. I just I mean, the fact that Tate gets to celebrate Hanukkah on Christmas growing up, she is a lucky kid. That's gonna be a blast.
But I got to work that out because like Hanukkah is a present of the day, you know. So I had friends I remember in high school where they had a theme. So like one present would be like food or something. So you don't get like a present every day. One could be like, I don't know, a clothing item. And I like that they have or one could be like an event or something. Ticket.
Yeah an experience that's what I'm looking for one is like you make something like you make a gingerbread house or whatever and I think that's cool to like theme it out so it's not just like present every day I don't want the message to get lost. Yeah I love that it's gonna be so much fun I'm excited for the holidays this year. They'll be fun. Do you have anything that you're gonna do like you're gonna go to a show? Well I don't think I have anything planned really I know my mom really wants to come to New York for the holidays just because New York is such a pretty time but
Like you said, when you came with Harrison, hotels are so expensive right now. She's like, I just don't even know if it's worth it. I was shocked. I mean, the hotels have skyrocketed. But for Christmas, it is a magical. It is. New York is magical in December. There are no words. It really is. Yeah. I mean, I'll go home for Florida or I'll go home to Florida. I haven't seen snow during Christmas in so long because it's
As much as people say that New York gets cold, it really doesn't get that cold. Like, we haven't seen snow since, like, our first year, I feel like, living in New York. Yeah, we didn't have a... Yeah, I don't know if you're supposed to get one this year, but I hope you do. Because not when it's sloshy, but when it's beautiful and outside and it's white, it's like a winter wonderland. It is magnificent. Yeah, no, I agree. So, yeah. Okay, do your roses and thorns. Okay, so I have...
two thorns but my rose is uh just I was in Florida this past week with my family and I just love Florida it was so fun the weather is starting to get a little cooler so it was like 70s in the evening and it was I just I read I just relaxed I spent time with my family um my thorn I was there because my grandma passed away which I'm totally fine um
It was more so, it's just so sad to see your parents go through that. Because are all your grandparents alive? No, just my mom's parents are. Both my dad's parents have passed. Okay, yeah. So my dad's parents have both passed. Now my mom's dad passed, but...
It's being at this age and seeing them pass. It's just, it's such a different experience. And then it makes you all like, I can't even think about it. Like the thought of parents passing away makes me sick to my stomach. It's so sad. I had actually never really, I mean, I guess it makes total sense. But when you said like, I'm just more sad for my dad, I was like, I do. I do 100% get that. Like it is sad to watch your parents be sad. Yeah. Because I feel like, I mean, my dad's in his sixties, but that's still so young.
And granted, my grandma was almost 90 and she was getting really sick. She fell a while back and unfortunately when someone falls, I mean, they're that old, it just goes downhill fast. So she was in a lot of pain. But then you have like my mom's mom who is 90 and she's living on her own. She's driving. It's just like, it's so crazy how...
people can be the same age and be so different health-wise but also too going back my dad is so young it's just like really sad to think that now for oh it's gonna make me so sad the rest of his life he just doesn't have parents oh gosh that's terrible that does make me sad um so yeah that's all i won't talk about too much because i don't want to make people sad but um i got to go home and be with my family because of that and it was really fun like i felt like it was one of the more intentional times i've spent with my parents like i
I didn't, I mean, obviously like I was on my phone, but like I wasn't on my phone as much. I tried to spend like my evenings being more not on my phone. Like I sat with them and engaged in conversation because sometimes I go home and I'm just next thing I know, I'm like, wow, I was really, I was really just doing my own thing the whole time. But this time I like spent all day with them, um,
We like I hung out with my parents neighbors a lot like it was fun. It was actually like a very very good time. So I enjoyed it.
I, I had two things. One, I thought the bagel that you got looked really good with your mom. Like I, I thought that your little like mom, your, your day with your mom was really sweet. And I think it was, I think it's really cool. Like because we're going into the holidays, right? It's cool to say this before, not after that you went home and you were intentional and present. I think, um, that's a big one because you can use your, your phone as a crutch when you're home with your parents, but it does, time is fleeting and it does mean the world to them when you are present. So that's, that's a good little, um,
A little early nod before the holidays. That's so true. That bagel was called Jersey Girls. And I believe because the family is from Jersey, I could be wrong, but it was good. It looked really good. Like you were like, it's not a New York bagel. And you're like, oh, it looks pretty darn good. Like I thought, yeah, you were like, okay, I'm surprised. And I was like, it does look good. And my second favorite.
is I don't know if we're going to be able to put this on the podcast because it might break someone's eardrums but I'm going to send you I'm going to send you this video Alex and I want you to listen to it okay okay oh god let me turn my bluetooth off I'll play it out loud yeah it's careful I don't want you to like burst your ear your eardrums this is the current state of what I'm listening to at my apartment due to construction okay oh my god
Do you hear that? I would go insane. So I don't think we'll play it on the podcast because it will literally break your guys' eardrums, but they are like shaving the concrete off of my apartment. And it's one of those sounds where it's like, but it's right outside my window. And I feel like the apartment is shaking. It is so loud. And it goes on all day long.
And you just... Do your headphones cancel it out or like no? A little bit, but I can still hear it for sure. Oh, and when it stops, do you just think, oh my God, so peaceful. And then when it starts, do you just think I'm going to lose my mind? Yes, fully. And it's hard because like being someone who creates content full time, I'm like, well, I don't know how I will create with that noise because I don't have... Like I just like...
One, you guys would hear everything in the video. And two, my brain feels like it's going to explode. I mean, like, are people in your building just, like, leaving for the day? I mean, I would go insane. I have no idea. And it's so funny because you know how in New York City, though, they're like, oh, yeah, it'll be done by November 1st. It's like, no, they, like, started on November 1st. Yeah, no, it won't. It will not be done. But.
So yeah, do they even and you just got to live through it like, you know, I think here in Austin if somebody was making a ruckus on the street enough of us would complain but in New York, it's just like get over it. Yeah, you just got to get over it. It is it's been quite a lovely few days and Pete's like you should go to a coffee shop and I'm like, it's a little eh.
it's not to be like a complainer but it's kind of hard to find like a good coffee shop to just like sit um with space i don't like a lot of people around me so yeah that is hard to find in new york yeah it's like these days are no laptop
Yes. I feel like where you used to live, there were some good ones, but up by me, there's actually not that many coffee shops with seating. It's more so just like you walk in, you get your coffee, and then you walk out. There's not actual seating.
So I noticed that the couple times that I was up there because I was going to that doctor up there and I would go afterwards to try to find and I did notice there was a lot down by me because it's kind of coffee shop culture but there wasn't as much up by you. I don't know why that is. You'd think they'd be everywhere in New York. Yeah, I don't know. So fingers crossed it ends soon.
We'll see. Oh my gosh. I hope so. I hope for you that it does because that is so loud. Yeah. So with that, that's my rose and thorn. Should we get into some of our topics? Yeah, let's do it. Okay. So we have to talk about, I feel like, everything that's going on with Zach Bryan and Brianna Chicken Fry and...
a little bit with Sophia LaCour just because it's all over the internet. Do you know what's going on with that? Well, I saw you got reposted by Sophia. She also reposted our Mean Girl clip too. So is she posting the hater clips? Yes, because she's a serial killer. Is she joking? I don't know. Like, when we first...
talked about her, I mean, I think that was a few months ago. I was like, haha, silly girl. Like, she's just kind of leaning into being the villain. Like, I'll give her that because there's two sides to every story. We don't know exactly what happened with like the Hallie Reed stuff, whatever. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. She was kind of like, I felt like she was handling the hate well. But now she is just
It's like evil. And I never talk about, I never talk crap about people like publicly, but when someone turns so evil and is like actually blatantly being so mean to people, it's like, I don't really care anymore. I'll talk crap about you. And she posted a video essentially like victim blaming people.
brie for being in an abusive relationship like saying like if if she was in that relationship she would have gotten out immediately and i was like that's where we draw the line like you need to either shut up or like try to support girls especially girls who have been in abusive relationships so i was like i've had it with you you're just like you're you're i'm done that's so mean
Like that, that, that being your take on like the breathing, I feel like is wild. Like what happened to Bree, I think is terrible. And I think that the way she handled it was awesome. And I just feel like this chick, like that, that, that to me is like really going low. Yeah. And it comes, there comes a time where like, if you have nothing, I say truly don't say anything at all. And like,
Whenever it comes to like abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment, all of that, like you never make jokes about that. And I feel like and a lot of other people felt like she did. And then on top of that, she made like another video being like, people are just twisting my words. And it's like, no, they're actually not. Because you made a video like essentially making fun of the situation and insinuating that you like just insinuating that.
and making, not like making fun of people of abuse. Like, I was just like, this isn't funny. Like be a girl's girl for once in your life. Well, and I think too, like her whole brand is just not being a girl's girl. But then I think like, I think to say people are twisting your words, like you kind of signed up for that. You signed up to let interpretation go when you made these videos and it's just, she's on the wrong side of it. It's just, it's just too bad, honestly. Yeah. I can't imagine being, like there's like, I feel like a lot of,
like villains on the internet but you see them in real life and you realize like they're not actually like that's kind of their persona they put online but with her she's like so far into it where I'm like I genuinely don't know if if you know what's right or wrong anymore and if that's just like how you see life and it's very scary does she make other con like I don't follow her does she make other content or it's just tater
I mean, I try not to look at her videos, but they do pop up. And I think she's been a content creator for a long time, and I know she was making other content, but what got her noticed was... Or what got her to blow up was the stuff with Halle and Reed, and then she got into beef with Brianna, and then...
Now with this whole stuff after Bree and Zach broke up, she's like, she's just like, the way she's like staying relevant is just being a villain. So now she pretty much just makes hater content. So she's just like picking fights with people. Yeah, it's almost like that's how she found she was going to stay relevant. So that's just what she keeps doing to stay relevant. Well, that's, I don't think that would be fun to follow. That's just like too bad, like gross kind of. Yeah, yeah.
It's just a wild situation. I'm just like, girl, like, what? I don't know. I don't follow her, so I don't know, like, enough about it. I just think, like, why would she even touch that situation and be, like, mean about it? Yeah. It's really sad. And I don't really have much more to say other than Zach is...
Gross. And I don't, I'll never. The worst. The worst. I'll never listen to his music again. Oh my God. The fact that he's done this to multiple girls that he's dated and just gotten away with it. I am just jaw was on the floor. I saw his wedding photographer from like his marriage made a video that was like, no, cause you guys are behind. Like I photographed his wedding. I don't know how many years ago. And he blocked me on all of his socials and I,
made me sign an NDA and a cease and desist or something crazy. And it was just like, whoa, like this dude is wacko.
Well, and it's also too... Like your wedding photographer? What happened there? Why? Oh, yeah. That is weird. Like, yeah. What do you not want her to tell us? What do you have to hide? Like, that's kind of odd. Well, it's so scary, too, because it makes so much sense why his ex-girlfriend, Deb, never really spoke about it because she was paid off and why his ex-wife never spoke about it. But it's also...
kind of creepy because now I'm seeing videos of Brie being like oh I can color my hair again I can wear my nose ringer again and it's like this man tried to change the look of every girl he's dated to be like this carbon copy of his like perfect woman right it's so which like
It's mind-blowing. And like when you're in it, I mean, I'm sure that's just like so horrible to navigate. And then you get out of it and you're like, oh my God, I feel like I can see color again. Like, wow, I'm free, you know? Yeah. Like being in an abusive relationship or in a relationship with a narcissist is so terrifying. And I'm so sorry for Brie and all the other girls that have had to go through that. And I'm just happy she's finally out of it. But
It is just, it's so scary to think about everything that happened to her in that relationship or like what he's done to other girls. And he's just a famous singer making a ton of money. Exactly. And he's just like running around like wreaking havoc. And it's like, whoa, you're, these are people. And I'm really happy for her that she got out of it. And then now she can,
I haven't seen like she can color her hair and things again, but like that, like a kid in a candy store, like you get to get back to living. Nothing is more fun living than if you haven't been able to, you know? And then you're like, wow, I get to go run and be free now because you kind of get perspective of what it's like to not. Yeah. Like, have you ever been in a relationship where someone is trying to change the look of you? Like, um, like what to wear or how to wear your hair or makeup or this or that. But I have been like where I felt like,
How funny would it be if like I had been paid off and I like couldn't answer this question? I'm dead. If I'm like, no, I just smile. If I was, I couldn't tell you. There was like, I do feel like there has been things though expected of you, you know, to dress nicer. Things like that, but not never. I'm trying to think like not college. Yeah.
No, but I do think there were times when I felt as though dressing more appropriate was expected. Yeah. What about you? Um...
No one that's like forced me to dress a certain way but definitely like had someone in my ear being like oh that would look really great on you. Oh you should wear something that's more like this to kind of like slowly gear towards the way that they want you to look. But the reason why I asked you that was because I feel like that's a lot of girls deal with boyfriends who kind of try to like have them look a certain way and it's just like girls if you're in a relationship you're
where your boyfriend's trying to control the way you look like that's a huge sign that you need to get out of that relationship asap because it just gets worse and worse and they start to try to like change so much more about you after that that's just like the beginning i did have one guy that did that did have me change one time before a dinner oh now that i'm thinking about it and i wonder who like what was wrong
Yeah. I'm surprised I wasn't just like, shut the fuck up. I was probably just tired. Or like if you're dating like a really rich, like I always see this in books and it's because I'm reading in a book right now where like you're dating like a super rich guy and they start to buy you all these gifts and you're, and then next thing you know, like you're wearing like only luxury and this designer and this or that because they're trying to change you to be a certain way because like their money can do that. Like I see that all the time in movies and TV shows and stuff like that.
And I wonder if they even know what they're doing in that scenario. You know, does the guy in your book know? I mean, the guy in my book is psychotic. So, yeah. But I'll tell you what during our recommendations because it's my rec of the week. Oh, I saw it. Yeah. Oh, I'm not supposed to reference that. I saw it. I fucked up. Sorry. I don't know what it is. But yeah, it's just really scary. And you should never if you ever feel like your partner is trying to control you, please know that that's not OK. And yeah.
tell someone and try to get out of that relationship. Yeah. No kidding. It's such a tough thing to navigate though. And like, I think sometimes you don't know what happens and then you look up and you're like, Whoa, what happened there? Right. Um, speaking of relationships to kind of change it to a little bit of a lighter note. Did you ever watch Outer Banks? Maybe an episode, but no, no. Did I try it? No. Why? So I don't recommend getting into it now because it's,
The fourth season sucks. But I saw on TikTok and all over like pop culture allegations that... Okay, so there's a character named JJ and a character named Kiara. They are part of like the poke group. They're dating in the show. But sources say that they, Madison...
Is her real name and Rudy is his real name. Madison and Rudy hate each other so much in real life that they got stunt doubles during their cuddling scenes because they didn't actually want to touch each other. Okay, wait, sorry. Now I need you to clarify this. Outer Banks is not a reality show. It's not like Southern Charm. It's a... They're actors. It's scripted, yeah. It's with like Madeline Klein and Chase Stokes. You know them? Yeah.
I know Chase. Yes. Yes. So they used to date on the show and they they they sorry they used to date in real life. They date on the show and they can act. They are so good about acting civil.
And the other two hate each other so much that when they had to cuddle, they got stunt doubles? Allegedly, yeah. Like, there's a scene of them, her holding him on a moped and him driving off. And people are like, that is not JJ on that moped. That is literally a stunt double because they don't even want to touch each other. What happened? I think something to do with Rudy, who plays JJ, his girlfriend. I don't know exactly who.
The, like, it's like a jealous girlfriend thing or what it is. I haven't dug deep enough to figure out, like, why they hate each other. But to, like, not be able to act civil enough on a TV set where you have to get cuddle, like, stunt doubles during cuddling scenes. I mean, it would be crazy, though, to even have to, like, exist in the kitchen together and do a scene if you just hate that person. Right? Yeah.
What could happen, though, that's so bad that you hate them? I mean, a girlfriend interfering could be the problem. Or a boyfriend interfering. Or somebody got caught. I don't know. I don't know because Madison Bailey has a girlfriend. Like, I don't know if she's bisexual or if she's a lesbian, but she is dating a girl. So I don't think, like, any type of, like, romantic issues happen between...
Madison and Rudy. So that's why I'm also so confused. Cause yeah, it's like, why does this girlfriend hate Madison so much? Or if that's the issue, does it bother you when a lesbian plays a straight person or a straight person plays a lesbian? If you know in real life that they are the opposite. That's a great question. I guess I've never thought of that. Um, I don't think it bothers me. No, I don't think it bothers me. Why?
No, I was just wondering, like the other day they posted the Yellowstone cast and Beth Dutton was on there and I almost clicked her personal profile. And then I realized I don't want to know anything about Beth. I don't even want to know her real name because to me she's Beth. And so I didn't know if somebody was in like a really romantic, steamy scene, whether it's like lesbian or hetero. And then like, you know, they're the opposite in real life. Does that affect you watching that scene? Cause you're like lost in the moment.
That's a great question. I never want to know people's real life situations. Like when, I don't know, Brad Pitt, Leo, all of them were fine for me because none of them ever actually like got married. But like...
I don't want to see Reese Witherspoon in a, like, making out with somebody because I know she's married, so it messes with me. Well, so, like, with Tell Me Lies, knowing that Lucy and Steven date in real life, I got kind of, like, queasy when I would see Steven and Diana hooking up or Lucy and Leo because I was just like, ew, like, Steven's literally on the same set as Lucy having sex with another guy. Like, it did kind of ruin the fantasy of Lucy moving on because I knew she dates...
In real life so yeah I guess it kind of Does ruin it for me yeah I think I think for the most part it does Yeah But I also can see how if you were on A set like so many times I feel like people Are in a movie or a TV series together and they start Dating and like I do see how that could happen too Because you're with them all the time and then You're like acting with them Yeah I mean if Madison Or sorry if Madeline Klein and Chase Stokes Can keep it cordial
Like, they dated for a long time and broke up and are still playing great characters in Love on TV. Like, I think anyone can. Would you, if Pete was an actor, would you let Pete make out with or do, like, a bed scene with another girl? Okay, no, I don't think I could. I, like, genuinely don't think I could ever date an actor because that would, I, like, I try to think.
I am I wouldn't say I'm a jealous person but I never want to see my boyfriend touch another girl even if it's for acting would you I think it'd be no I know no I think it'd be very no no it'd be very hard yeah I say that I I guess if somebody really sat me down and like Margot Robbie I think does an excellent job of like totally separating her personal and professional life and like seems to have a really good relationship we don't see a lot of it
And she plays like a wolf of Wall Street, you know? And I feel like for some reason her husband just like doesn't care and is cool about it because he understands like this is her career. But I would have a really hard time with it. Is her husband an actor or what is he? No, he's like a, like a, I don't want to say regular guy, but I think he's a, yeah, like a finance, like just a guy. Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, that's like so the creator of Tell Me Lies not to keep bringing that show up. But Megan Oppenheimer, she she's the creator of the show. And her husband is the teacher that Brie was hooking up with in season two. And I don't know how she directed that show while watching her husband have sex with another girl. Like to me that I don't know how anyone could do that.
I would just send ricochet shots to the other girl. I'd be like, I don't like you and I casted you for this role. And I'm very sorry. It doesn't make any sense that I'm being like this, but I can't look at you. Right? And yeah, there was even a scene where she was like, yeah, I wanted my husband to keep his shirt off longer. And I was like, that's weird. No, no, not with somebody else. No, no, no, no, no. Yeah, no, it was, it's a no for me. A big fat no. Yeah, it's a no for me too. Yeah, I totally agree. Um,
Okay, I want to do the listener question next because it's going to stem like kind of a decent topic. And I think it's short, but it is a really good listener question. And I think everyone kind of experiences this in their life.
Totally agree. Listener question. I wasn't asked to be a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding and I'm devastated. What advice do you have when this happens? Should I talk to my best friend about it or leave it alone? It's kind of a realization that I'm not my best friend's best friend and it hurts. Like not being your best friend's best friend, that's so painful and I feel like so many girls go through that.
And you don't realize where you sit all the time. You know, if you're just texting them throughout the day and you guys go to dinner and things one-on-one, you don't know the pecking order in their brain until something like a wedding happens and then it's served to you on a platter. I know. Like for this girl, I definitely think she should leave it alone because when it comes to a wedding, like this is...
her friend's day don't bring your own drama into her day maybe talk about it after the wedding I know that's a long ways away but like don't cause drama beforehand but definitely like keep it in the back of your mind and just maybe reevaluate how much you're giving to that relationship and if she's giving you just as much back I think that's a really good point evaluate that if they're if that's like a skewed if that's a lopsided scale
definitely note it. But I also think when it comes to weddings, there's a really important role to play, which is the role of that. I was almost, I almost asked her to be in my wedding, but she didn't make the cut. That person can show up and be so supportive, so kind and,
And like that's such a like a looked over role where it's like be the best friend. Be awesome to her still and like text her how's the wedding. Be a cheerleader for her and like in 10 years she'll never forget that and maybe you guys will be even closer then but like definitely don't go low right here I would say. No no no no no no. I know one of my college friends she was
She just found out she wasn't in a really close friend of hers in the bridal party and it really hurt her. She obviously didn't make a big deal about it because she was like, it's not my place to, but it definitely hurt her feelings, especially how she was told. She just like the bride just like kind of casually brought it up and they're like best friends. So it was like I was shocked that she wasn't.
even in her wedding and I don't even know them that well. But like it really hurt her and she's like it she's like I don't want to like say it's going to affect the friendship but like it definitely made me think about the friendship because she's like if I was going to get married she would be in my bridal party.
So I'll also say this, like her bringing it up really casually could have been like, she probably thought about that for two days of like, how am I going to bring this up? I'll go, I'll go the casual route. Like it's so heavily on the bride's mind. And sometimes it's like a numbers game where like the guy has five. So you have to have five and like, you have to cut that one. And it's like devastating, but like,
It like affects the bride But it also affects the friend too And I feel like we think about it in the moment So matter of fact Like black and white But I don't know I have a lot of hindsight on it from I don't talk about that I was married a lot But like that was one thing And it's like
When you are picking those bridesmaids and things like it's such a big decision, but like you do feel so bad because there are so many of your close friends that you can't include. But I remember till this day, I'm thinking of one specifically who was fucking awesome. And she was just like, how'd you ask the bridesmaids? Like so happy for you. Like she never missed a beat. And it actually ended up on my wedding day. I was like, I just would have loved to have had her in it. Um, but she had such a good attitude about it.
Oh my god, yeah. I have seen a lot of sad stories about girls feeling like crap because their friends haven't picked them. And I'm so grateful where
I haven't dealt with that yet because I don't... My friends... I only have, like, two friends who have been married and I was in their wedding. But, like, my other close friends, they're not in that point in their life yet. But I know it will happen to me where I'm like, shoot, like, I can't believe I wasn't asked. But since I've seen so many sad stories, I try to... Like, I try to remind myself, like, when that day comes, like, I...
need to be the bigger person for this bride because this bride is about to go through so much stress as it is she doesn't need someone causing more drama because for all I know she could like you said pick someone because of maybe this girl the groom knew her better or maybe they had she had something to do with the way that they met or maybe it's all high school friends or maybe it's all college friends or this or that like it's not personal
No. And sometimes the one left out is the one, you know, can handle it. And that's the toughest thing to cat to, to grasp. But it's like, she, she'll be the most mature about this. I think she'll understand it. I'm going to go. And you pick the one that like, wouldn't handle it. Well, that's so valid. The one that didn't get picked handles at the best. That's actually so true. Like I, I feel like a lot of brides pity pick people not to be mean, but they're like, I'm just going to pick her. And it's not fair deal with it. Yeah.
It's not fair to the friend that doesn't get picked, you know, but like that, that's a rationale of like, she'll be more logical about this. I'm not going to pick her. But also I feel like, yeah, I feel like that's a big part of it is like, like she can handle this. Yeah. But, um, that goes back to like the broader topic that we said earlier of like not being your best friend's best friend. Yeah.
And that sucks when you realize that like your friend doesn't like you as much as you like them. No, it's so true. Or like she's your number one, but you're her number four. Yeah. I've dealt with that so many times where I'm like, oh my God, no. Like I know that they're like we're each other's number one. And then this is like in high school and college. And then you're like, oh no, I'm like their third.
Where you're like, we're best friends. And then like they're talking about you being like, yeah, we're pretty close. And you're like, no, no, no. You're my best friend. Right? Yeah. You got to let people know. I was thinking the other day about like...
Okay. You know how you breach the, you like announce it one day, you know, I don't know on Instagram story or something. And you're just like besties. Okay. So then you've officially proclaimed you guys are best friends. But I was thinking about like me making my new friends here in Austin. And I'm like in my thirties, you know, as a mother, am I, do we still proclaim when somebody enters into the best friend threshold? Or is that like a thing of the past?
Wait, that's such a great question. I feel like just feel like, yeah, I feel like our moms have like best friends through different stages of life. Don't you think?
But have you ever heard your mom say she's one of my best friends? Have I heard my mom say that? I think I've heard my mom say she's like one of my closest friends, but I don't know if I've heard her term someone as a best friend. But my mom isn't like super emotional with people, so I just can't picture her saying that in general. I don't think I've ever heard my mom say – I've said she's my mom's best friend. I've said it for her. But I've never heard my mom say like she is my best friend.
But it's funny because like my mom's closest friends were people she met in her 30s. Like one of her closest friends, who's also my godmother, she met, I think it was after my dad and her got married. So that would have been in like their 30s. Yeah. And that's a best friend. I mean, that is Tracy's best friend if you have known her for, you know, 20 plus years, but they're still calling them close friends. Yeah.
Did they use the term best friend? You know, I don't know if they were using the term best friend in high school. Were they? Because this bestie thing is like something, you know, we like to proclaim. But I don't know if our moms did. Yeah, I don't know. That's a good point. Yeah, I wonder if like the Gen Z uses best friends or if that's like choogy. Yeah, I wonder. And like boys damn sure don't. Like I have never heard Harrison say, ah, best friend. No, never. Yeah, like I'll always, I think I've asked Pete when we first started dating. I was like, who's your best friend? And he was like,
I don't like really have a best friend. I'm like, okay, who would be your best man at your wedding? Like that's how I had to get him to pick. That is, I have asked that question so many times. Like, okay, well, would he be in your wedding party or not? And it's like,
It's so funny that that's where our brain goes in order to identify. It's like a MySpace top friends. We're like, no, I need you to organize it. No, literally. Like, and if you, I wish I would have wrote down every single year who I would have in my wedding to see how much it changed from like high school to now. I think there would be, I genuinely think Madeline would be the only person consistently in it. Other than that, I don't, everyone else would not. Like, it'd be so different. It's even cool though that you have like one consistent person
Sydney would be my, I would only have one consistent from high school to now. Yeah. But it's like every phase of life, you kind of like add one in, you know, that like makes it. But then it's crazy to think about like my mom's best friends. And it sounds like your mom's too. Like she did meet in her thirties. Yeah. Cause is your mom's closest friend. Is she a friend that she met later on in life? I think all my mom's closest friends are mom, like friends that she met in this era of like mom, like,
Your kids being young, daycare, things like that. Yeah. And it's like, I'm just entering that phase. So it's like, you're telling me I haven't even met them yet. Even when I went home to Florida, I like met my parents' neighbors and like there was like a group of moms that my mom hangs out with. And I was like, I love this. Like, I love that these are like your new group of girlfriends and they're so fun. And these are the people who are going to be your friends for the foreseeable future. Like,
Like I have to keep reminding myself like you will literally make friends in every part of your life. And like if you don't. That's so crazy. If you don't feel like you have a good group of now like it's fine. Like you will find your people. There's no formula of what year you have to meet these people.
No, no, no question. And I think there's things like when you move to a new city, who you live by, like they all make such a big, like if somebody moves 20 minutes away, you're just not going to see them as much. It's just simple. Yeah. Like I'm super excited to see like by like this time next year in Austin for you, like you're going to have like a legit group of moms you hang out with or girls you hang out with. I said to Harrison the other day, I was like, I'd love to fast forward now and just see.
Like is this neighbor that has a baby within two weeks to be like, is she my future very best friend? I don't know. Right. It's so funny. Could be. Great candidate. Love her. But you know, it's just like what happens? And it's just like every day I'm like, what? Yeah. It's wild. Friendships are wild. Do you want to do Rex? Yes. Okay. Let's hear about your book. Okay. Let's hear about this. What is he? A protagonist? Oh. Antagonist? Well, I don't know. I'm so bad at that.
Yeah, it doesn't matter. Let's hear about your man, your guy, the guy. So I think you will actually like this series. It's fake. It is fiction, but it's like thriller mystery. I'm reading The Housemaid. I have the book with me in my backpack because I bring it with me everywhere. Like I literally read it on the bus, the subway, you name it. It's every free second I have, I will be reading it. And...
So I can't give you a lot of information without giving the book away, but essentially what it's about is this young girl who was a convict. She's out of jail now and she...
goes to be a housemaid, a housekeeper for a very wealthy family on Long Island. And the wife is a little crazy and just weird stuff starts happening. But that's really all I can say. But it is such a page turner. It's such an easy and fast read. And Freda McFadden is the author and
And she just writes at a pace that every page you're like, oh my God, more information. I need to keep reading. I need to keep reading. It's so good. Oh, so she writes for us instant gratification generation. Yes. Is it a series or is it a one-off? A three-part series. Three-part series. What are you on? I'm on the second one. And the third book just came out over the summer. So it's like still, it's like a relatively new series. Yeah.
Did you ever see Okay like love that And then did you ever see The maid The show I saw it just like On Apple the other day No I didn't Oh Did you I think that I think you should try that It's called the maid Like first It's a The maid Yeah it's based on a true story It I think it's like A phenomenal watch Oh Oh my god I will definitely Oh I've seen I've heard about this show Oh
Yeah, it's on... I guess there's parts of it on TikTok, the girls are saying. But, like, it... I think I watched it in two days. Like, it was awesome. Is it a limited series? And knowing it was... Does that mean there's, like, a finite amount? Yeah, it's only, like, eight episodes. Like, one season. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. I'll watch it for sure. You'll watch it in one day. It was so good. Okay. Love that. Yeah, based on a true story, but it reminded me of the maid thing. Um...
What's your rec? So my rec is shrinking. Have you seen that? Oh, the TV show? Yeah. I've seen, I, it's a show that Pete watches. So I, I've like read when he watches it, but I really should watch it because I've heard incredible things about it. Loving it. So that I'm watching, I'm on like episode three right now, but like really liking it. So it's my current show. So that's my rec. It's a bit like, you know, it's fun TV. It's not,
Like I put it on every day while I feed her and it's fun to like watch, but I wouldn't say you're like going to binge watch the whole thing in one setting. But if you need something like light and good to turn on, it's great. Great cast too. I mean, you can't go wrong with, isn't it? Jason Segel and Harrison Ford in it? Yes. Yeah. Yes. They're great. Yeah. Oh, I love that. Okay. Amazing. I'll watch that and you read The Housemaid.
Yeah, I think The Housemaid actually sounds really good. Like, if it can, sounds like it could be based on a true story, even though, like, I know it's fiction, but, like, I think I would like that. And it's set in New York. Like, the first season's more Long Island, but, sorry, the first book is Long Island, but the second book is the Upper West Side, actually. So I'm like, oh, this is cool. Oh, that's really cool. Okay, yeah, I would love that, actually. Yeah, you should read it. Go to Barnes & Noble right now.
I will. I can walk to a bookstore from here. So maybe I'll do that. And then I'll go to my wine store. Do you ever drink wine and read? Yeah, all the time in Florida. That's like my favorite thing to do. Like, duh. Yeah, I figured. Okay, cool. Okay. Yay. Well, we love you guys so much. Please keep sending us your listener questions. Am I the asshole?
