Hello, I'm Kristen Sevey, and this is Murder, She Told. I know it's been a few weeks, but I wanted to start out by saying there are a lot of awesome things happening behind the scenes. Episodes in the works, projects I can't wait to share, and I have two I want to tell you about today that I am so excited about.
and they are both live and in person. This has been in the works for a couple of months now, and we've been putting our full heart into them, so I hope you'll come out and support and join me in person.
P.S. There is a new episode this week. Thank you so much for your patience. Murder, She Told isn't going anywhere. This is only just the beginning. But as much as I want to do all the things at the same time, I'm only one person and we're just a very small team behind the scenes. But on June 4th, in just two weeks, you can join me in person for a special press conference and community event with the Kittery Police Department for the Reeves-Johnson case.
I don't want to mislead you, Reeves is still missing and we are still searching. But we've been working very hard to push his case forward. And we're still working very closely with Detective Kummer in the Kittery Police Department. And we have some news that we want to share with you. It's open to the public to attend and it's free and anyone interested in Reeves' case is welcome. You can come for the full event or just part. It's really flexible, but we'd love to get a good energy in the room the whole time.
And if you're connected with media, we'd love to see some faces from the media, even if only for the announcement at 1 p.m. I'm asking people to RSVP just so we can get an idea of head count and food count. I'll share all of these links in the show notes. But you can also go to MurderSheTold.com slash Reeves Johnson for links to the RSVP forums for both events. There's also a button on the home screen on the website. But here are the basic details that you need to know.
The press conference community event is on Saturday, June 4th, 2022, and it's going to be at the Star Theater in Kittery, which is located inside the Kittery Community Center at 120 Rogers Road. Around 11 a.m., I will be there and I'll be doing a telling of Reeve's story. So first Murder, She Told Live event coming at you. And then at 12 p.m., there's going to be a lunch break. I'll
I'll be ordering food from a local barbecue spot, and if you want in, I'm asking for $15 a person. Please just fill out the RSVP form, and you can pay me via Venmo or PayPal. All the info is right there. If that doesn't work for you, you can email me at hello at murdershetold.com, and we can figure something out. But this is just an option. You're also welcome to bring food if you want to. At 1 p.m., the Kittery police chief will be making an announcement regarding Reeve's case, followed by an open Q&A.
I suspect it'll go until maybe 1.30 p.m. Breakout rooms for media will be available at the conclusion to speak with family and police and myself about Reeves' case, which speaking of, who else is going to be there other than me? The Kittery Police Department will be there, including Chief of Police Robert Richter and Detective Brian Kummer, who you heard in the Reeves episode. The family of Reeves will be there as well, including Sally and Hugh, who you also heard in the episode. If
If you can't make that, don't worry. On June 18th, I'll be back in Kittery again for the Kittery Block Party, and this is going to be a lot of fun.
There are food trucks and live music and vendors, and the Kittery Police Department will be there, and they'll have a table raising money for the Special Olympics, and I'm going to be joining them to help spread the word about Reeves. And that is where you come in. We want to gather a volunteer street team to hand out as many flyers as possible and to get people talking about Reeves.
One of the biggest pieces of this puzzle that we're missing right now is connecting with people who actually knew Reeves. And this event will have the entire community out walking around, so it's the perfect time to connect with them. The entire event is from 10 to 4 p.m.,
I'll be there the whole time with the Kittery Police Department. And I've broken this up into two-hour shifts, so if you want to volunteer, you'll still have plenty of time to walk around and enjoy the festival for yourself. Even if you don't want to volunteer, come say hi, grab some flyers. I might even have some goodies to share, if they come in on time. So if you want to volunteer, I would love to have you. The sign-up form is on the same page at the website at MurderSheTold.com slash Reeves Johnson.
And if you can't come or you don't live near here but you still want to feel like you're a part of it, there are other ways that you can help. From now until June 18th, anything through PayPal or Buy Me a Coffee, instead of helping cover production costs for the show, will go towards this event and will help cover expenses like flyers and poster printing, snacks, water and sunscreen for the volunteers, and more. As always, free ways to support are sharing this event and sharing Reeve's story.
I created a Facebook page for the event and I'll link it in the show notes. Mark off that you're interested even if you can't go and help create a little buzz around the event. The episode for Reeves is always a great way to get his case out there. We are so excited to share Reeves' story and this event with you and get the community involved. So we hope that you'll share his case with others. Please help us spread the word.
In a missing persons case like this, sharing is sometimes key. We're really trying hard to get this heard by the right people, and you never know who might be in your Facebook friends or bingo buddies with your dad.
And finally, thank you so much for your interest in Reeves' case and supporting his family's search for answers. It means the world to me when I get an email with a thought or a suggestion for his case or people reaching out to say that it resonated with them. Even if it's something we've already thought of, the fact that you're racking your brains and thinking about this case just really means a lot to me and I know it means a lot to his family and Detective Kummer as well. Thank you for sharing his story.
Solving a missing person's case from 1983 takes a community and we couldn't do this without the support of you. So thank you. I am so excited for these events and I cannot wait to see you there. All the links will be in the show notes. Feel free to email me if you have any questions at hello at murdershetold.com. I'll see you again soon for a brand new episode.
