McElroy and Kubelik in the morning starts now. All right, welcome in McElroy and Kubelik in the morning, 7 a.m. Thursday, August 15th, right here on JOX 94.5. Appreciate you being with us. Great time last night at the Barron's game.
For the jocks kickoff party, man, it was cool to catch up with everybody, kind of put a couple of new faces with names that are a part of the show that text in, call in, tweet in. It was fun catching up with everybody. And some bad news for you, G-Mac. I had multiple listeners come up to me last night saying,
and say that their favorite segment of the show is bad box score of the day. That's really unfortunate. Yep. It is nice to know that they're still listening. You go over there and tell Greg that right now. Walk over there and tell him because he hates it. That is accurate. And they said, no, man, it's got to be done. Somebody has to find those scores and let us know what's going on. And I said, then I will continue to do it. We will continue to let people know who got beat 90 to nothing in European American League football.
The Elf League is highly valuable to our operation here. No doubt about it. They have been a big assist in the bad box score of the day, specifically this year, as was the Arena Football League, which we appreciate some of their blowouts and games that were not continued. Saldana deserves their flowers. And a couple people asked me about that. They're like, who's that Alaska team? I was like, I feel like we put them on the map.
Quite literally. Even their coach admitting they had never had that much publicity before. Who knew that a high school football team in Alaska would be the most discussed thing on Alabama Sports Talk Radio? But by God, we did it. Big sold out on a guy. Cool to kind of catch up with everybody last night, G-Mac, and just kind of talk to everybody and get some questions about college football, hang out a little bit. It was a fun night. No, it's always fun. I thought the weather cooperated. The year before, it was like 1,000 degrees.
But it was really a nice night last night. Wish the Barron's game started a touch earlier. I would have liked to have watched some baseball. I was still there, and it was the bottom of the ninth inning. It was like that game flew by. It was 1-0 when I left. I don't know if that's where it finished up. As someone who produces those games to get a game in at two hours? It was crazy. It was crazy. I couldn't believe how fast it went. The game started at 7, and I walked out of there at...
What? It was a little before 9 when we left. Yeah, like 8.40? What time did we roll? Yeah, something like that. And it was bottom of the ninth? Yeah. Amazing. Absolutely insane. But all things considered, man, really a fun time to visit with our fans and our listeners all throughout the day parts.
Talked to a guy yesterday that listens literally. He gets in his truck at 6, and then gets off work at 2. So he listens to jocks from start to finish. So super fun to interact with everybody and get to visit. We appreciate everyone's support for coming out. Yeah, Golden Domer, Pelham Gator, good to catch up with those guys. And Hastings did not keep us for 45 minutes.
It was only about 22 minutes. I had under five minutes with him. I don't know what happened. I lucked out. I'll tell you what you did. He must have gotten a text from the wife or something. Had to go be a part of that. Well, he did get a text from the wife. A lot of things he wanted to discuss. He did get a text from the wife. She basically said, get your butt over here. I'm sitting with our friends from Spain or whatever. Come over here and watch the game. So...
He got good six innings in with us and had to get called back to wifey each of us, but yeah, he got some good, some good QT, but it was good to catch up with Hastings last night as well. All right. A lot of college football want to get to today. Roddy Nibulski is going to join us at nine 15. The coach went Sanderson at nine, some injury news from Georgia's camp defensive lineman, Jordan Hall, stress fracture. He's going to be out for multiple weeks. He's going to be out for multiple weeks.
Not one that you want early in camp. And you kind of brought it up with Georgia earlier in the week, Greg, that offense may be not on all cylinders like a lot of people would have anticipated here through camp. Sometimes this can be a little bit by design just based on situations that you're putting certain sides of the football in.
But is that a concern of yours for this team, especially going up against a like we talked about yesterday, a really good front seven right out of the gate? Yeah, that is, I think, a big concern is if the offense is not operating at max capacity, they don't have a schedule that is manageable whatsoever. I think Georgia schedule is extremely difficult, whether it's week one against Clemson, whose defense is always pretty dang good. I would think they'd be good again.
Week three against Kentucky at Kentucky. I mean, you're going to have to play well in that game. And if your offense isn't playing well and Kentucky could somehow manage a couple of touchdowns to be and Kirby's not sounded super pleased so far in the early parts of camp. Doesn't mean things can't get righted. It's just not a great start. Sounds like for them.
Yeah, it's not what you want. There's a lot of injury news kind of floating around different camps. We didn't really hit yesterday. Texas running back Christian Clark, Achilles, and he'll miss the season as well. So now you have some real running back death concerns for this Texas team going into the season, G-Mac. And keep in mind, things get going pretty quickly for Texas. There's not that runway like a Missouri or an Ole Miss, you know, four or five weeks into the season. They don't. I mean...
They still have good backs. Weisner's a solid back. Jaden blue's a solid back, but now you're down to only a couple scholarship running backs. I mean, that's now you're getting down to real tough spot. And the likelihood of those guys go in 12 games without some bumps and bruises is extremely slim. Try playoff expectations. So not good that all the injuries seemingly have come from one specific spot. Just hate it for him. Really do.
Are you okay with Texas quarterback Quinn Ewer saying yesterday he'll run the ball some if they need him to? I mean, it's not preferred. You got to do what you got to do, but it's certainly not preferred.
He's nimble. He's got decent mobility. I mean, I don't think you want to build a package around it just yet. I wouldn't, no. But if you needed to utilize that to keep defenses honest somewhat, in the main reason you don't want to do that is because he's been dinged up. I mean, he's been a guy that's missed some time, so you don't want to put him in harm's way. He's probably missed, what, six games the last couple years? So you don't want that. Not something that I think you want to see him have to sort of shoulder a large portion of the role at least.
and have to be the guy that goes out and carries the football. But as you said, Texas still has some talent, and a lot of the quick passing game can act as an extension of the run game for the Longhorns. So it's not something that they're going to – they can work around it to an extent. But like you said –
Most running backs are a little bit nicked up at some point in time across the course of the season, especially if you don't have the other two or three guys later in games, either if you're up or that you can just give a series to every now and then. Now more of the workload is going to go to your top two backs probably, and that becomes a little bit concerning, especially when you've got Michigan early in the season. And like you said, Michigan is not going to be a team that you're probably going to be able to run the ball on real well to begin with.
So it's not the end of the world. I mean, I don't think Michigan's going to give up anything in the run game. But you got to beat them with some quick passing game and some extended handoffs. I think the likelihood of Quinn Ewers' Heisman odds go up because he's going to have to throw his way out of some jams, I would think now. I mean, they've been a very balanced offense. That's kind of been Steve Sarkeesian's M.O., but they might not have that luxury this year if they're deep or banged up at running back.
Well, the other part, too, Greg, is what do most teams have the luxury to be able to do? And that is you've got your pass protector back. You've got your back that catches the ball better out of the backfield. Right now, maybe you don't really have that option to be able to say, all right, this is a guy who's going to come in third and long. We know he can pick up pretty much any blitz that's going to come. He's he's not afraid to go one on one with an edge defender if he's turned loose.
Now you just kind of got to ride with what you got. And you're not able to sort of even things up based on what the defense is doing or based on what the situation may call. And that can complicate things a little bit. Well, it's just brutal when you think about, I mean, everything. It'd be great in a perfect world. And Texas is the type of program that has the depth.
Or they really could, in theory. They could very easily say, hey, we really need specialized backs at the position. We really do. They don't have that luxury now. So it's really unfortunate because this is a team that has pretty much everything you could want. And if they are, look, the injuries, it doesn't matter how good you are. Injuries will cripple you.
So it's really not a good start so far to camp for Texas. All right, here's what we got going for you today. We're going to continue going around some of the college football camps, some things we're hearing from Auburn, Alabama. We'll get to those here in just a moment. You'll hear from some of the coaches at both schools, what we're hearing from camp, some other injury news around the SEC and nationally.
starting quarterbacks beginning to be named at a couple of different schools. One here in state. We'll talk about that. Uh, we'll get to your calls as well. 800-239-9569. And we were closing in on the season. So anything that you have from a preseason perspective, you want to talk about, you want us to discuss, we can throw that out. Uh,
You can also text into the show 205-834-9450. Bunch of folks last night saying, hey, probably not going to call in. Love texting in, being a part of the show. 205-834-9450. You can do that there. You can always tweet into the show as well at Mac and Cube. Also going to go through Alabama and Auburn's schedule.
What are the best position groups that they play this year? So we'll go through all the position groups, the best O-line they play, the best D-line they play, best secondary they play, linebackers, receiving core, quarterbacks. We'll go through that for both of those football teams this upcoming season just to give you an idea of, all right, this is where they're going to be challenged the most at each position group as we kind of see it right now today. It's obviously going to change across the course of the season.
So a lot to get to, a lot to talk about. A couple NFL signings. We've got NFL tonight, Philadelphia at New England, 6 o'clock on the NFL Network. 13 preseason games Saturday, two preseason games on Sunday. Some history in Major League Baseball last night. We'll discuss that. Transfer portal is happening somehow, someway. I don't know how these kids are transferring now. Hey.
The LSU had a tight end leave like two days ago. Another wide receiver just popped up who used to play at LSU at another spot today, Coy Moore. That's a name that's familiar to a lot of folks. Played at LSU, played at Auburn last year. Apparently has just enrolled at Western Kentucky.
and maybe trying to help that football team out this season. It feels super late for some of that to be happening, but welcome to today's college football. You love it. That's just kind of how it goes sometimes. Yeah, I love nothing more than a guy that's been through a full week of fall practice that shuts it down and says he's going to go play somewhere else. Makes perfect sense. Hey, scrimmage one in the books. I'm out. Did what I needed to do. Where are you going? Because guess what? They're already practicing too.
You're going to roll into another place after a week and a half of practice? I'm going to get mines here. Hey, guys. How's y'all scrimmage going? You guys still at acclimation period? I just don't know how you do that. I don't know how you take someone seriously that does that. How do you think you're going to be able to go and find a way into the rotation at this point of camp? How's y'all's winter workouts? Y'all still got mat drills? When did y'all max last? When you get in trouble, do you pencil rolls? Pencil rolls? Pencil rolls.
I just don't. How do you work? Unless you're an absolute freak, which we know Coy Moore is not. I don't think so much so that I don't remember him from last year. Not being not being angry or frustrated, but like, I don't remember him. 24 catches. Coy Moore's back. I'm like, what? Who? He was the guy from Auburn LSU. I was like, I don't remember him. What year? It was last year. I go, oh, that year. That one. Well, yeah.
I don't know, not being angry or hateful, but I just don't think it ends well. When you're searching this late in the game, let me just give you this example. You're at the bar. Bar closes at 2. It's 1.38. You really need to go home with somebody. That's what you think. You're really trying to figure something out. You're really not going to make a good decision at that point. You're really not going to make a good decision. It's desperation mode. It's never, ever, ever going to be a good decision. So be smart.
Stay where you're at. The likelihood of you getting on the field, the place that you've been through camp all off season, been through spring, been through summer. You got a much better chance playing there than you do at wherever it is you're playing now. Unless you got in trouble, which to me is a real, real scary proposition to bring someone that got in trouble during camp. How's that possible?
Doesn't feel like a great idea, but either way. All right, tell our listeners about B-Dry before we get to break. We'll come back. We'll hear from DJ Durkin on the other side. A player, right? Like the myth of Bo Jackson. Like, rate, and download the show from the Jock Cup or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, welcome back in. McElroy and Kubelik in the morning. Talk some Auburn-Alabama football here for the next segment or two. Auburn defense, a group that we've had our concerns about, but there are some voids that were filled through the transfer portal. And I think there's some upside in certain spots, some areas that we feel like
May be able to exceed expectations. Up front, the depth has been a little bit of a concern. Actual game wreckers up front has been a little bit of a concern. Auburn D coordinator DJ Durkin on that defensive front and the depth maybe that's being created through fall camp.
I think, like, along our defensive front, I like our depth. We've created some depth. I mean, you look at all these guys up there that, I mean, there's some guys that have been here, and there's some guys we got in the transfer portal, and then there's some freshmen. There's a combination of all those, like, newcomers in that are really,
I mean, it's day-to-day who you can point out who had a great day in competing, and that's a great thing for me. When you have depth up front, you need to have that in this conference. If you want to be successful and consistent, you've got to have it, and I really think we're developing that in that room.
So he feels like it's coming on just a little bit. Uh, but he says overall Auburn D coordinator, DJ Durkin, that he's pleased with how this defense has progressed so far through fall camp. I'm very pleased. We're at our guys have done a really good job of preparing, showing up every day with the right mindset. Um,
They're grasping the defense really well. The number of our mistakes is really, I mean, really down when you look at the ones and twos, really low. Obviously some guys down the line got to keep picking up and going, but our effort
And just the togetherness of defense is really good at a high level. So this side of the football, Greg, where could this group be really good? Where could this Auburn defense shine and maybe be problematic for some of the opponents on the schedule this year? I think they're going to have good competitive depth at the second level. And I also think they have some playmakers at that spot as well. And I think up front they have competitive depth. I don't know how good they are.
I don't know how you feel about their front, but I think they have depth there. I'm not sure there's any game records. There's no guys that I got a game plan around, but I feel pretty good about them going seven, eight deep in the front without there being some significant drop off from one line to the next. That's one of the things that was really bolstered in the portal. Sorry, coach prime. I've,
I'm going to use the word bolstered here. You can't say that. I'm sorry. Oh, my goodness. But Jason Jones, we've been waiting on him for a while, has a chance. Isaiah Rakes not only has played in the SEC, he's played for DJ Durkin. He knows the scheme, knows the system, could help. Gates Keys, Trill Carter come in. They could help you a little bit. I think Keldrick Falk has a chance to be one of the more active players up front defensively. And then you have...
carry on Crawford, Jalen McLeod, both a little bit light, but both twitchy, quick, fast, flexible, good bend off the edge could give you a little bit more in the pass rush. So yeah, the depth I do think is coming on. Um,
a Zaccheaus Walker maybe give you some good reps over the course of the season? Malik Blockton maybe as a freshman give you some good reps? Jamonta Waller maybe? All those possible up front on that front seven. But I agree with you on linebacker. And I think specifically the first few, if they stay healthy...
That could be one of the better parts of this defense. Austin keys we know can be downhill bumper. Like he can, he can be a guy that brings a different physical element to your defense. And then Asante can just be kind of that just active everywhere. Sideline to sideline. If you need him, use them in different ways, type of a factor, but he, I think needs a little more protection up front from some of those guys that we mentioned.
maybe it is a little better than we expected and could be a little bit better than we anticipate with some of the depth that's been added and some of the different players that have stepped up through fall camp. Well, I'm optimistic about kind of where they might be on that side of the ball. I think they're going to be fine on defense. That doesn't concern me. My concerns are
All offseason have been, how good can they get offensively? I think they're going to play some complimentary style football for sure. So the offense will help them some, for sure. I still think tempo is going to be utilized. But I think the defense is better equipped now to play with an offense that utilizes tempo and is not going to be in complete ball control mode. So I...
I think the defense is going to be an above average group, middle of the pack SEC thereabouts, which to me, if you're top eight in the SEC, you're cooking on defense.
Well, one of the other things that Durkin kind of focused in on yesterday was Jaron Thompson. And we talked about this months ago, just kind of referencing some of the leadership that Auburn had gotten out of the portal. And that a couple of guys were coming in and just holding different people accountable, handling things in a different way. Like Robert Lewis was one of those guys. Yeah. Kind of another coach on the field for the wide receivers. Yeah.
And Jaron Thompson was one of the guys that I heard about that just was, was way far ahead from a leadership perspective and accountability perspective. And he,
Coach Durkin talked about him becoming more of a coach on the field yesterday, that the scheme is not an issue for him. He's able to communicate it. He's able to help other guys get lined up. And that could be big for a secondary that lost a few bodies. But, I mean, Keontae Scott's a playmaker. Yeah. He's all over the place. I mean, a guy you just love seeing him on your team, can make plays, can do a lot of different things. You know, Cain Lee has made plays in this defense. Champ Anthony has made plays in this defense. So, second,
Secondary doesn't feel like much of a concern, especially if the Texas transfer, Jaron Thompson, comes in and can sort of be that guy for DJ Durkin. Yeah, and I think Jaron Thompson, the problem with Jaron Thompson is he's been a little inconsistent and he's not a great cover guy. So as long as he doesn't get beat over the top and he's not in the one-on-one spot, if he's in run support, you're in great shape. But if he's in a situation in which he has to cover the deep third...
or he's in a one-on-one scenario where he's got to cover man-to-man against a tight end that can run, stretch the field vertically, you're going to have some problems. You just can't put him in that situation. So that's going to be on the coach to somehow figure out a way to avoid that potential matchup because that's one that could exploit you. But at the same time, I think he's a good leader. He loves ball. I think there's a lot of things to like personality-wise. He's a good tone setter, but he's...
He can be a liability in coverage from time to time. Well, think about how you open up to Greg, Alabama, A&M, Cal, New Mexico, and then an Arkansas team that is probably not going to give you four and five wide the entire game. We've heard about them more tight ends, eye formation, focus a little bit more on running the football, and then you get Georgia, a team that'll be pretty balanced. Now, a great group of pass catchers, so you will need coverage skills and safety against that group before a week off, and then you go get Missouri. So,
And specifically there at that position early in the season has a chance not to necessarily be exploited as much based on how the schedule looks. Yeah, I don't think it's going to. I mean, who's the first? I mean, Cal might be pretty good, but that's a little bit of a up in the air when you look at what Cal could be. I mean, I don't know about you. I think their offense is probably going to be pretty good.
Better than people think. New OC, so a little different, but they got Jay Knott. He can run it. I mean, they have a really good running back. Auburn fans remember him from last year, so I'm not sure they're going to be a group that can really dial you up on some of the things that Auburn might be susceptible to.
But still in a pretty good spot, I would assume. Absolutely. Nick Sheridan, Alabama offensive coordinator, talking to the media yesterday. A couple surprise bodies, a few that Greg's already mentioned to you this offseason that you might need to know. We'll hear a little bit more about them next right here on McIlroy and Kubelik in the morning. The capital of the sports talk nation. This is Jux 94.5 and JuxFM.com. Hurry hand. Talk about Alabama football now, and you can be a part of the show. 800-239-9569. 800-239-WJOX. Also, text into the show. 205-834-9450. Tweet into the show at Mac and Cube. Nick shared an Alabama offensive coordinator meeting the media yesterday discussing a wide receiver, Greg, that you've mentioned multiple times through fall camp. Yeah, I think, you know, every day Caleb does something to impress you, and every day there's still things for him to...
Coach Shep is pointing those out in every moment that Caleb's out there. He coached extremely hard. A lot to be excited about and a lot to work on, and we're super happy with where Caleb's at. We know there's still even more for him to grow and get better at. So Caleb Oden, somebody, Greg, that absolutely could help this football team this season, and you've heard great things about him throughout the course of fall camp. Really good things, and they were very excited about him
Even dating back to the spring saying he's a guy that's different for us. I mean, we had a lot of guys that can catch and run. We've got a lot of guys that are a little bit on the smaller side, but we don't have a lot of guys that have crazy length that are going to win those contested catch situations. So it's really been important for them to get him up to speed because they're going to need them. I mean, there's going to be some spots against some teams that,
That are super physical and are going to disrupt routes and are going to tackle great in space and they're going to press you. So you got to have a guy that can really consistently win those one-on-one jump balls and he can be that guy. So really important that he's had a great camp and I'm glad to hear that he has. Not the only receiver that I've been hearing about in camp. Another body that you have mentioned that.
I kind of tried to talk about it a little bit last year because Coach Saban mentioned that he had some juice and potentially could help him, never was really able to get on the field, and that's Emmanuel Henderson. Yeah. Who can just absolutely fly and was an elite kick returner in high school, actually played some quarterback in high school, played running back in high school, played for a teammate of mine, was his head coach in high school, Jim Bob Stripling, a walk-on quarterback at Auburn and who just absolutely loves him.
But you got to have a guy that can force defenses to play a little bit of a different way sometimes. And Henderson has a chance to be that guy for Alabama this fall. Definitely has a chance. And I think he's super talented. And they spoke very highly of him in the spring as well. He's got a chance to do some nice things for him. It's just when you have a lot of the guys that all kind of do the same thing,
it's going to be interesting to see what the pecking order is. Are there specialty plays? If you look at last year's team for Washington, all the receivers, for example, played within their specific roles. You knew Roma Dunze was going to be the featured player, and he was going to most of the time be lined up at X. The other two guys, one was in and out of the lineup. The other was full go all year, McMillan.
Those two guys kind of swapped around. So if you have three guys that are all kind of the same, then how do you anticipate kind of distributing that differential? I think Jeremy will probably be the top dog, but the other three guys, whether it's Kobe Prentice, Law, Emmanuel Henderson, those guys are going to all kind of be rolling, I would assume.
Depending on how Ryan Williams comes along, he's going to be in that mix as well. And then you're going to have Caleb Odom for situational awareness stuff. So I'd be curious to see how it all works out. It really will. Is it good that there's not maybe just one guy that we're hearing about and we hear good things sort of spread across the board with this group of wide receivers? Yeah. I don't have any problems at all with things being what they are for the wide receivers. I mean, I don't think it's a problem if you have...
A bunch of guys that are interchangeable. I don't think it's a problem. I just don't know how they're all going to be used and what the distribution chart is going to look like. Could five guys potentially catch 30 passes or more? I think that's within reach. I think that's certainly possible. Would it surprise you? No. No, I think it's actually good when you – and we talked about this with Auburn yesterday, how it's not – for a while it was Cam Coleman –
But now Malcolm Simmons. And then now you're hearing about a couple other different guys that are getting buzzed through camp. You don't want it to just be one guy because you want it to be collective. And I think when that happens, it's great for your wide receiver core for your offense. Also great when your quarterback and center are on the same page. Nick Seredin, the Alabama OC, also discussing Parker Brailsford and Jalen Milrow so far through fall camp. Just time on task together and
I think the character of each one of those kids is fantastic. And so they both take a lot of pride in their jobs. They all know that the communication is super important. And it all starts with the center. So far, so good. And that'd be a good question to ask those
So it's important. It's where every play starts. And according to Nick Sheridan, GMAC sounds like there haven't really been any issues between those two so far through fall camp. No, it doesn't sound like it. And that's great because that's going to be really important for that level of chemistry to exist. I mean, that's so imperative. I cannot tell you how important that is to have a great relationship between quarterback and center. And I know that that was something that abandoned them last year from time to time.
So it's going to be really important to notice the level of growth and improvement, ownership, accountability, all that stuff is very important. That relationship is imperative. Have to have it. If you don't, it can certainly be very disruptive. No doubt. So just news and notes there from the Auburn defense.
From the Alabama offense. Just kind of where things are headed. Here so far. As we've worked our way through. I guess we're about halfway through fall camp. For a lot of these teams. And not a lot of breaking news out of either one. But I think a lot of positives that you can take away. From what you're hearing from these coaching staffs. And just different things that are taking place. Always good things though taking place at Bromberg's. Always. They've been serving this community for nearly 200 years. They have high end.

So when I go in there, I feel like I'm shopping with family. I feel like I'm shopping with friends. So go check them out right there in Mountain Brook Village or the Summit. You can also shop online at Bromberg's.com. Also, finally, Jamarcus Shepard, Alabama co-offensive coordinator, also wide receiver coach, discussing that wide receiver position and just
How, this is a shocker here, route running is important.
Well, I think that what we have to do is as far as learning technique of route running. And that's where you got a bunch of guys in the room who really haven't played the position very much. Kendrick Law as physically gifted as he is as a young man, he just hasn't played the position a ton. So understanding route depths, getting in and out of breaks, okay? I call it stress bread takers. I think I've said this before, but talking about, hey, the important things related to the stance. Hey, triangle read.
The releases, why I'm doing the release. You know, a lot of people are doing all these cute releases and they're putting them on YouTube and all over all these videos and stuff like that. And everybody goes in there and likes it and oohs and aahs. But what, why am I doing that release? I need to understand the why of what I'm doing now, okay? How you stem a route to be able to gain leverage, lose leverage, all right? And gain it back again when I need to, okay?
How do I get in and out of my break? Now, how do I depart from the break? And finally, you know, how do you catch the ball at a high level? I mean, all of it's important. And that's where we're really honing in to make sure we're dialing down and progressively teaching these guys how to run routes at a high level. Yeah, destroying.
What did Destroying do with Route releases? All the releases and stuff. He's always putting those things on YouTube. Isn't he a kicker? Those cute releases. No, but he does the competitions and everything where he shows up at your high school and you do one-on-ones or whatever. Oh, I thought he was a kicker, though. What was the thing he said about that he calls them stress what? It was...
Stress bread takers? Stress rep takers? Stress rep takers?
I call it stress bread takers. I think I've said this before, but stress rep takers. I'm hearing bread. I think it's red, but I'm hearing that time. It's not like stress red takers. I'm trying to figure out what what we're talking about there. Stress rep takers. Maybe we'll get Damien to come in here and explain that. This is a wide. I don't know that one. I don't know. No, he'll talk about the cute releases that he was discussing and being on YouTube.
We we'll see if Damien can kind of clarify that one. Well, he comes in to give us our top three on the other side. Don't forget about train though. For those that checked it out yesterday, SEC Network, pretty cool. 10-year anniversary of the SEC Network getting underway. I remember vividly a lot of shots, a lot of pictures, a lot of throwback. A lot of throwback moments being shopped around yesterday. It was a day that I really missed being on social media. Really did. But had a bunch of folks, good friends, send them stuff to me. Goodness gracious, we looked young. What were we doing? I mean, to think that we were launching a network that...
I know there was a Big Ten network. I know there was an SEC network prior to. But to think just how successful. We didn't know anything about what we were doing. We had no idea. All of us knew the TV for the most part, other than Dari, pretty much. And look at it 10 years down the road. Cube kicks, Monday night show. Cube kicks, face of the SEC network. SEC the weekend, prime. It's like, look at where we're at now. It's amazing.
I mean, literally, if you were to sit there, we're having beers after the show that we launched that night, having beers with Brent Musburger. I'm like, this is the coolest thing I've ever done in my life. I can't believe this. I can't imagine. Like, this is easy. I'm a lad of you here. Let me tell you. And it's like, oh, this is so cool. And we had gone on the air just a little, you know, a couple hours earlier. And I'm sitting there like, I can't believe we just did television with a Brent freaking Musburger. What is going on? So super cool. 10 years in the books. But, uh,
SEC Networks is strong and as powerful as it's ever been. It'll only get better because we've got great people working on it.
Really, really have enjoyed being a part of that family and miss doing more for them. But pretty cool yesterday, Cole, to see the 10-year anniversary in the books. No doubt. Picture of you at the desk. You just looked like a baby. You looked like a child. It's wild. I was nowhere to be found when that thing was launched. I wasn't a part of it. Didn't have anything to do with it. You were on the SEC Network like three months later. A little further down the road than that, but that's okay. No, no. We had the original Fine Mom Film Room. That was year two, I believe. No, year one.
You're one home skillet. Yeah, Blake Sims versus Nick Marshall. Shootout, Iron Bowl, 2014. Mississippi State was number one in 14, which is why CBS had to take that one. So we at ESPN got Fine Mom Film Room. So me and the kick, cube kick.
Got to kick it alongside Booger Spears and Feinbaum for the Feinbaum film room just a couple of months later. And that was Cole's welcome to the SEC Network moment. Welcome in. I think I may have had an alternate game or two before that. It's still said SEC Network. That's all that matters. Last time I checked, that's under the umbrella. It is. It's there. Doesn't matter. It was there. May have had one or two of those going. Yeah.
Probably should have been on the alternate network. I didn't know what I was doing on TV at that point. I was a disaster. It was fun, though. I was playing the piano all the time. That was a cool moment. Were you Nick Saban dancing? Kind of, yeah. The T-Rex? No, not quite to that extreme. Yeah, but it was very piano-y. Like, if you looked at my hands as a young analyst, everything was the piano. So that was good. But we've moved past that now. Thanks for...
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Now you're on to the trumpet. But yes. Playing the trumpet on TV would be a little dicey. It would be tough. It would be. All right, let's move on to our top three in a moment. First, tell our listeners if they're moving in or out of a new home who they need to call. It would be Crocker Movers. Damian, what do you have on tap for us today? Man, as you know, on August 15th, it's World Greatness Day.
It's what? World Rankings Day. Be great today. Absolutely. Top three better be great. Is this Mannheim Steamroller that you're playing? By the way, nice pull. Love Mannheim Steamroller. Saw him in concert with my dad down at the BJCC. It's a good show. Like two or three years ago. Yeah. Coming back this year, I think. This is Vegeta theme music. The what? Vegeta. V-E-G-E-T-A. Don't pull a Damien and go sicko. The Prince of All Saiyans.
If you say so. No, it's a fact. It's actually National No SpongeBob Day. Didn't know that was August 15th. Down for it. I'm here for it. No SpongeBob? With it. Okay. Specifically on the 15th. But it's a stew of celebrity birthdays. One, Ben Affleck. Okay. He's had some successful... Love his insurance, okay. Yeah, he's had a successful career, I'd say. Chief Keef. I know y'all are dialing in on Chief Keef. He's got a hitter. He's got a hitter, too. But it's actually Greg Homeboy's Joe Jonas' birthday. Okay.
So, speaking of Joe Jonas. Is that Joe or the other one that you shared the hot tub with? Nick. Nick. Got it. Oh, the baby boy. I don't know. Y'all homies. Yeah, that's lit. But no, speaking of the Jonas Brothers, who are your top three? Don't. Boy bands? No. No, no, no. I can't name one of their songs. No, no, no, no. Who are your top three? Jonas Brothers. Sports slash celebrity siblings. Oh, see.
You should have just kept it at sports. No, because I already know exactly who's probably going to be number one. I ain't trying to hear it. Or Jason DeTravis. No. They'd be up there, though. Wait, who? I know exactly who they're going to be. George Shiloh. Eli Manning was an all-world quarterback. Wow, he said that, too. The media boy, I tell you. I'm just going to stick to sports here. Go ahead. I'm going to go. And no, the Undertaker and Kane are not actually brothers. They're not? No. Well, you're telling me the Dudley boys aren't?
Maybe adopt it. Can I take the hearts? Yeah, they're real. That counts. Oh, yeah. Take the Mannings one. Obviously. Taking the Consecos two. I feel like that's one-sided. Not the McGuire. And the McGuire's three. The Giambis? Yeah. Dan McGuire, 6'6", quarterback from San Diego State. Get him in there.
God, who am I going to go three? See, I can't say the Kelsey's now because Greg made fun of them. They're not in. I'm going to go Brandy and Ray J since you and Brandy are so cool. No. Wow. No. I said I was going to stick to sports here. I mean, this one's so easy. I can't believe you're not doing it. Okay. Well, then have at it. Okay. The Matthews family, perhaps? Well, that's a whole dad, uncle, father, son, brother. I'm sorry. I didn't know. I didn't realize it didn't count.
They play our line. My uncle's Bruce. My name's Jake. He was great. Let's go with Chris and Kyle Long. Okay. There's more choices, but we'll allow it. All right. Gregory? Number three, Venus and Serena. Atta boy. Number one, Peyton and Eli. Oh.
And number two becomes slightly trickier. Klitschko Brothers. No. It's a little bit trickier, I feel like, number two. I've had kind of a tough time with this, but I think I'm going to go bigger picture here. Okay. And I'm going to go with the McMahons. Stephanie, Vince...
Not brother-sister. Shane. Our brother-sister. Thank you. I know that Vince is the dad. Thank you. I didn't feel like he went father-son, father-daughter combos. They set the table for all of the brother-sister tandems. It's a family affair, if you will, in the WWE. In that case, I'm going to go Dale and Dale Jr. Well, no, because I just gave you siblings. Oh. Yeah.
Well, father-son, yeah, absolutely. They'd be up there. No Austin Dillon or Ty Dillon? Kirk Kyle Busch? Nah. I'm just trying to help you guys. What about Rex and Rob Ryan? They're up there. Hardballs, I do think, has to at least be discussed. They are in the discussion. Pouncey Twins? Yeah. Okay. Depending on what you're looking for. All right. John? Number three is Warren Beatty and Shirley MacLaine. Number two... That's a plot twist.
I mean, they're siblings. I'm answering the question and name a better acting duo. Number two is obviously the Williams sisters, but number one is the Manning brothers. Oh, you know what? You forgot one. Cole. Cole. I did or they did? The Watts. Why did I? The Watt family. Fantastic. Or JJ. Oh, TJ. Who's the other one?
The walk-on brother. There's another. Derek Watt. Yeah, he's like a fullback. His name doesn't even fit the right. What is he? Something. The Gronkowski's. That's a good one, even though Felix is a little one-sided. One, one. Correct. He'd lean on one. The Molinari's. What about the Olsen twins? Well, with Elizabeth, too. I mean, that's pretty. I put their checks up against everybody else's. I'd say they have a good run. I think they would probably dominate the field.
against the spread on finances yeah i'm surprised nobody went the hardy boys they were so close to me just wwe champion i read them they're buddies with your greatest wrestler of all time right they're pretty cool yeah they're pretty cool uh number three for me i actually had the kelsey's uh to the venus and serena and uh i have to say it i mean number one is manning's so why did you even go celebrities if you were going to go all sports you should have just left it at sports
Because I was going to... Are Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen actual brothers? No, half-brothers. I mean, yes. Well, as I checked, that counts. Half-brothers. Brothers or half-brothers? It's not my opinion. Correct. But yes, they're basically cousins and half-brothers. I'm not even going to tell you about a conversation we had last night about that. Not for air. Emilio! Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal? They're brothers. Successful?
The Jacksons will be in there. That's, again, one-sided. Janet's up there now. Just the brothers, correct. That'd be up there. Okay. The car. Somebody sent the car. Macaulay and Kieran Culkin? That's a good one. It's no longer one-sided. Well, maybe it's reverse one-sided now. Maybe. Wow. This is McElroy and Cubelik in the morning. It's time for Bob's Dare to compare. You get style.
