I'm not worried about them at all. But that was, I think, something that turned a lot of people off significantly. And they'll come back now. They needed a year to just kind of suppress, just kind of, I think, acknowledge and just kind of move through some of the feelings that

that I think we all had to process. When your coach gets fired for gambling, that is really disturbing. That's tough. That's a blow. It's super disturbing. Is it like when your coach leaves for your arch rival the day after? You know what's funny, though? You don't win the national championship. Is it like that, Greg? I've been recruiting for him for months. Yeah, exactly. Is it like that? According to all my Aggie friends, though, that's not even really a rivalry anymore. I don't know.

We don't need him. I will never say that. It is a rivalry. I'm glad you acknowledge it. 100% it is. I feel like on the Longhorn side, they like to say they don't care about us. But I see that they did need to follow us to the conference that we left them for. So who's doing what is what I'm saying. Mission accomplished. I even told her. this giant log jam of teams in the league that are that. Yeah. That we think if this goes this way, they might be pretty good. They could win 10 games. But if that doesn't go that way, they might win six or seven. We just don't,

The tier is sort of low tier two, high tier three feels like, what, Greg, seven, eight teams we said? Yeah, probably. The thing that I think is also strange, I don't know about y'all, well, Mississippi State can certainly relate to this. Oh. But, like, what is good? You know what I mean? I think that's challenging. Like, if you're an Alabama fan, good is 12-0. Yes. You know what I mean? Eight and four. Or, like, 11-1. God damn.

forbid you lose one in the regular season. Eight and four. So I think we're having a tough time. And if you look at Vegas, like Vegas' win totals and like how they assess what's good, there's not a single team in the country that's win total is above ten and a half. Like and there's also...

Most teams in the SEC are at like 7.5. And that's not normal. So I guess it's going to be hard for us as fans to kind of acknowledge, hey, that was a really good year. They went 7-5. But hear me out. That was a really good year. And I think it's going to take some time to kind of readjust and rewire our brains there.

I feel like as an A&M fan, if we can, number one, keep our quarterback healthy all year, because we haven't done that since Kellen Maughan, that would feel like a victory. I feel like already knowing that we're not going to have all 11 A&M games, that feels like a victory over last year. So, you know, if we could get to...

nine wins, I think would be amazing for Elko's first year. That would be a great season. Playoff season. Yeah. Notre Dame in a non-conference. You're in the playoff discussion, I think. The losses. I think A&M is going to be really good this year. I think they're a top 25 team. Mississippi State, I just don't know about. Okay. Not because I don't love Leb. I do. Like I said, they could win eight games.

She really does. She does. Listen, if it's windy, we're toast. That's right. The Internet's never really gotten better. Living in San Antonio, that's great. That's perfect. It's all fine. Yeah, so it's been a minute. I mean, but it's been fun. So I asked you before we went to break if there was one person you could meet that's sort of affiliated with this whole thing.

Who would that be? Obviously, would not mind meeting Jeff Levy just because he's a – We could possibly facilitate that. Okay, thank you. That – but I will tell you, like, probably my biggest one, and I know he's not active in the coaching part of things anymore, but Nick Saban, listen –

I would love to meet Nick Saban just because I feel like he is a walk-in talk-in master class in leadership. He is. He is that. Yeah. So, anyway. I'm not sure if he would want to have anything to do with you. Sure. I'm going to go with you, by the way. That's fair. Yeah, that feels fair to me, too. I love the guy. Like, no one had a bigger impact on my life outside of my dad than Nick Saban. I'm good. You know, I don't stand this whole week. We're cool. Like, we're fine.

I'll be on the set with them in an hour and a half, and I'm dreading it. We'll be fine. Okay, so let's just cross that off my list then. Like, y'all settled that for me. We'll move on to the next one. You're good. Exactly. Josh Maxson, who's formerly the Alabama SID, is now currently Saban's handler at Alabama. Shared a great story last night with us. We ran into him in the lobby, and he said, I'll give you an idea of kind of where he is mentally. He said about, I think it was not last Monday, but like the Monday of Fourth of July week.

He called Josh. He said, okay, going to media day is going to work. Here's what I need from you. I need a few minutes with all 16 SEC head coaches. Okay, wow. And he said, and here are my times.

Tuesday, 7 to 10. Friday, 8 to 11. And next Monday, he gave them like three times of three hours. And Josh was like, okay. He said, and I made 14 happen. So I felt good about that. I'd love to know the two he didn't get. I would tell me too. I bet you could guess.

One may have been on the show already today. However, I don't think that was by their fault. I think it just kind of happened that way. Didn't work in their time slot. It is. Yeah. I do think the other was by choice, and I will not share that one. But it's just kind of where he is mentally. He is dialed in to coming to media days and being, I guess, similar to what he was as a head coach. Yeah. I like it. We learned a little bit about head coaches from you guys because you were at media days two years ago? Two years ago. Yeah.

And we had kind of a little bit, we didn't really have a responsibility. That would be a strong word. That's a strong word. We were allowed to sort of tag along in a certain area of media days. And so we got a lot of good first impressions, which was fantastic. I mean, it was, for us, it was really all we needed. So Brian Kelly was just walking by a few moments ago. What were your first impressions of him? Oh.

He smelled fantastic. I mean, like, really. Really nice cologne. Whatever. Aftershave, I don't know what it is. It was a good situation. It really was. And, you know, here's what we're not going to do. We're not going to say, hey, Coach Kelly. I've never worn cologne. Do we need to get on board? Are we missing the boat here? I think I had the curve cologne. Oh, well done. I think I had Abercrombie Fierce in high school. Oh, that's good. Greg, you were coming in hot.

With an abracrombie beard. Yeah, nice. Kind of set the tone as a 16-year-old redhead. Yeah, it really... I had to use whatever special powers I could use. High school was polo. Okay. If you didn't have polo cologne in high school, you were just poor. No, what were you doing? Which we kind of were, but still, we found a way to have polo cologne.

That's right. Priorities. Not since college, though. I have not had cologne since college, though. Well, I'm just saying we noticed. Yeah, we did notice. That was the only one we noticed. I will say that that day, because we got to see up close with the coaches and a lot of the athletes, I'm going to say that it increased our respect for the shoe game. Like the different shoes were admirable. Like it really was something. Every time, it's funny you say that, because I've actually left, as a former shoe connoisseur myself,

I feel like taste in shoes has really gone down as a society. Okay, interesting. I feel like now some of the shoes, and Conrad Van Order is a great example. He wears the ugliest shoes I've ever seen. He wears Yeezy slides most of the time. That's rough. It's like the uglier the shoes, the better now in some cases. Whatever happened to standard Jordan 1?

Jordan 3. It's a fair question. If you want to go 4, I can live with that. Okay. But when you start rocking some of these, like when you're on the Jordan 9s. Like the whole Balenciaga type thing. Oh, terrible. Like we're going to make the sole of this giant platform. Yeah. It looks like huge clogs. Yeah. I agree. You get more of like a modified ski situation with some of them. They're not fantastic. The other thing that blows my mind too, and I actually deal with this with golden gooses. So I'm not calling them out. Okay. This is not...

Everyone is fair here. Golden Goose is, to buy a shoe that looks worn for $700 to me is mind-blowing. Sure, I agree with that. Like, oh, this looks worn. I want that. I'll buy that. Yeah. It looks like someone scuffed it on the pavement. Yeah, drive over it with a car. Yeah, 100%. Yeah, tire tracks. But I look at some of these shoes that you could buy for $17, and instead you put a little Prada thing on there.

And we got action. So I want... This changes the game. We're really in our wheelhouse right now, y'all. If we're going to spend money, shouldn't you spend it on one of those ugly Balenciagas? Or should you buy a KED that has a Prada logo on it? No, not even a KED. I've shared this before.

When I do games on Sideline and it's going to rain, I will not wear my good shoes. Yeah. So I'll go to Walmart and I'll buy a brand new pair of like the Mall Walker Specials for literally $9.99. And it is amazing. The last time I did it was in Tuscaloosa. It was supposed to rain and it didn't. How many people are like, love the kicks, man? I'm like, yeah.

Listen, my daddy's 92 years old, right? A product of the silent generation, like old school. And he has contended for my whole life that everything is made in one factory, right? It's in Alexander City. It's Russell. That's right. It's on the way to Lake Martin. Yeah, exactly. And you can stop off at the

store, but he's always contended everything's in one factory and you just get a different He may not be wrong. Well, listen. So, listen, Cole, you have just given him a lot of validation. And they're comfortable, which is crazy. They feel good. They changed it. They've just given Walmart freebies out. The Walt family needed it. Whatever their new mall walker special is now, it's not as attractive. You're allowed to talk about that. You're allowed to talk about that for about two more weeks before Pant Store comes back on as a client. Right. And then you're not allowed to talk about it.

talk about it anymore. You can only wear Sperry top tighters. I need some hokas from Pant Store next time they come back. Can we make that happen? There's a weight limit on those. And I'm over it. That's why we've got to be on it. The hokas are great. First impression, Kirby Smart.

And I felt like he made the effort to say hi to everybody in that room, which I thought was very nice. He shook everybody's hand. He thinks you might have a five-star middle linebacker. That's right. And I might. That's right. Maybe. Maybe.

Exactly. You can't just go say hey to mom and dad. It's got to be aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers, sisters. You've got to talk to everybody. Have you ever, and maybe there's someone that's no longer at their job, so I'd kind of prefer for you to lead in that direction here. Yes. Was there ever someone that you were like, I'm just not, I don't know about that person? Like...

I need to see that you're invested. I'll be honest with you, a Denny's menu would elicit a pretty excited reaction. Hang on. All I had was a protein bar this morning. You have my attention. You know who made the strongest impression on us, I think, that year at Media Days was Sam Pittman. He's the ultimate people person. Let me tell you what. So nice. He came in that room, and you were just like...

I mean, you felt like you'd been reunited with an uncle. 100%. He's the most normal guy. Oh, my gosh. It's like, how are you a college football player? This job is way too ruthless for you. Yes. Like, why do you do this? Yeah. Every time I see him, and we have a really good relationship, but we don't talk a ton. Every time I see him, I feel like, like you just said, it's...

We've been best friends forever. Yeah, and we don't know him at all. But, like, he just was so warm when he came in that room. It was really sweet to see. Like, in five seconds, I was like, well, I think I'm a fan of yours forever. You know? He has that. SEC championship game, the last year he was at Georgia. Catherine and I went to the game as fans, and we were down on the field before the game, and she was pregnant with Locke.

And I saw Coach Pittman, and I was like, ah. And, you know, she's just kind of following me around, going all the different things. And we walk over, and he walked right past me. I, like, had my hand out. Literally, he walked right past me and puts his arm around Catherine and, like, puts his hand on her belly. He's like, how far along are we? Like, when's the due date? And I was just like, yeah, that's different. He's the best. What about Coach Stoops? Mark? Did we – I don't know that we –

Did we end up seeing him? I don't think they met Bob at Media Days two years ago. I don't know if you know, but he didn't end up at A&M. That was an unintended concept. You're going to like Elko. Have you met Elko yet? I haven't met Elko, but I've heard great things about him, and I really am excited about him. He's got some Sam Pittman vibes. I love that. He's a very normal guy, very approachable. Wait till you meet Caelan DeVore. Okay. You know what? He is the best. Okay. Awesome. Awesome.

Well, just we have a family friend who plays, and he said similar. Oh, for sure. I don't know if you know, but we know somebody that plays. We know somebody who knows somebody. But he's on the team.
