You're going to have ups and downs in life. Things are going to go wrong. You're going to lose businesses. You're going to lose jobs. You're going to break up.
And there are times when you get injured and there are times when you get mentally defeated and you feel like you don't want to do it anymore. And those days go on and on and on. Things are going to go wrong. And what you need to do is to keep moving forward. No matter what happens, keep moving forward.
You judge the true character and caliber of a person not by where they stand in times of comfort and convenience. You judge the true character and caliber of a person by where they stand in times of challenge and controversy.
Because I believe like when you really trying to accomplish something or become something different, there are supposed to be challenges present. It's supposed to be opposition present. It's supposed to be adversity present. When you really trying to become something different, every next level of my life demands a new version of me. It's supposed to be challenges present, right? Like if you just can become the same person over and over and over because no obstacles, no opposite, you ain't growing.
You're regressing, right? I firmly believe in the thought process every single day you either becoming better or you becoming worse. Like I firmly believe at the end of this day, I'm gonna be a better man. I'm gonna regress a little bit based upon decisions, choices. I'm speaking to the people who want more.
The people who want to be the pinnacle, the people who want to be accomplished, the people who want to make a difference. You guys are going to have to go all the game. Make a 100% commitment to give the best effort you've ever given to outwork, outdo.
out-improve, out-strategize, outlast like never before. You can't be motivated anymore. You don't need others to motivate you. You have to be self-motivated. You have to dedicate every breath, every ounce of energy and every thought and effort that you possibly have in your heart to becoming what it is you want to be.
Here's what I discovered that happens to you in life, that you will go through things and while you're going through them, you can't understand why it's happening to you. But after you go through it, you get back and you look at it and you say, oh, now I understand why I needed that lesson. That I couldn't understand it then. But after I got through it, then I saw that that was preparing me for bigger and better things. That as you go through the challenges of life,
And you look at it and embrace whatever comes to you. Don't run from it. See, but when you go at what you're going to deal with and you deal with the difficulties of it, when you handle those hard things close at hand, making those hard decisions right now. So if it's hard, then do it hard.
all the great things in other high achievers lives, all the reasons that these successful people that you look up to, that you aspire to be like, are the way they are, have all come from a place of being uncomfortable. That's just a fact. Single biggest reason why people have bad days is because they start them off by looking around at everybody else and seeing what they're doing instead of having the focus and the discipline
to actually start your day off with you in control. Because everywhere I look and everywhere I see in today's society, everybody's doing everything they can to be more comfortable. They're looking for the more convenience. They're looking for the quicker. They're looking for the faster. Don't ask for security. Ask for adventure.
And see, it's not important how long you live. What's important is how you live. People are always looking for some sort of, you know, remedy or some shortcut that's going to make them be able to do things that are hard easier. But no, they're hard things for a reason. So they're going to be hard. If they were easy, everyone would do them. We go through life trying to seek security and not coming outside of our comfort zone. And we take most of our stuff with us to the grave. Ask yourself, what's blocking you?
What's preventing you from acting? Why don't you have the courage to handle that? Why won't you face that? What are you running away from? What kind of avoidance behavior are you engaged in? Next is, what is the worst thing that can happen when you take action?
Every day do something that moves you toward that goal that keeps that goal alive and insight and in focus however small or Insignificant that step might seem take it do it make it happen Because that goal isn't going to achieve itself. It is all on me
You each and every day that you are breathing in this world each and every day that you are doing something in this world You should be focusing on getting better not worse Show me your character remain discipline stay strong when it all seems hopeless Keep plugging away Nothing can stop you if you don't stop for anything don't stop for anything Never break your discipline
Remain faithful to yourself and your vision. You should be understanding that, hey, I can't be this same person on a day in, day out type of way. I have got to keep focusing and going further and going harder and going stronger and pushing myself until there's nothing else left to push forward.
If you do what other successful people do over and over again, nothing can stop you from eventually enjoying the same rewards that they do. But if you don't do what successful people do, nothing can help you. Success is not an accident. Sadly, failure is not an accident either.
You succeed when you do what other successful people do over and over until these behaviors become a habit. Likewise, you fail if you don't do what successful people do. In either case, nature is neutral. Nature does not take sides. Nature doesn't care. What happens to you is simply a matter of law. The law of cause and effect
You can look at yourself as a machine with a default mechanism. Your default mechanism is the almost irresistible attraction of the expediency factor. In the absence of self-discipline, your default mechanism goes off automatically. This is the main cause of underachievement and the failure to realize your true potential.
When you are not working deliberately, consciously and continuously to do, be and have those things that constitute success for you, your default mechanism is at work, you end up doing those fun, easy and low value things in the short term that lead to frustration, financial worries and failure in the long term.
One of the most important requirements for success, once you have decided what it is that you want, is the quality of willingness. Successful people are willing to pay the price, whatever it is, and for as long as it takes until they achieve the results they desire. Everyone wants to be successful. Everyone wants to be healthy, happy, thin, and rich. But most people are not willing to pay the price.
Occasionally, they may be willing to pay the price, but they're not willing to pay the whole price. They always hold back. They always have some excuse or rationalization for not disciplining themselves to do everything that they need to do to achieve their goal.
How can you tell when you have paid the full price of success? It's simple. Look around you. There it is. You can always tell how much of the price of success you have paid by looking at your current lifestyle and your bank account. By the law of correspondence, your outer world will, like a mirror, always reflect the person you are and the price you have paid on the inside.
fully mature people accept that their actions have consequences.
A fully functioning adult knows that he or she can choose an action, but once the action is taken, both predictable and unpredictable consequences will follow. The true adult accepts that for every cause there will be an effect. For every action, there will be a reaction. You can choose the action before you act, but you cannot choose or control the consequence or reaction afterwards.
Intelligent adults are very careful about the thoughts they think and the actions that they take. They do not fool themselves or engage in self-delusion.
They don't pretend that things might happen differently, nor do they trust to luck. Inactions also have consequences. What are called crimes of omission are often more serious to your long-term prospects than the mistakes you make. Omitting to think through your values, set clear goals, make plans, commit to excellence, and so on,
can be disastrous to your possibilities of great success. The starting point of success is the acceptance of reality.
What cannot be cured must be endured. Often people will come to me with challenges they are facing and I will ask them this simple question: Is this a problem or is this a fact? If it's a problem, it's amenable to a solution. There is something that you can do to change it. If you are not happy with the situation, it is up to you to go and do whatever you can to resolve it. A fact, however, is different from a problem.
It is something that exists like the weather, like rain or snow. There is nothing that you can do about it. You can solve problems, but the reality principle says that you have to learn to live with facts. Something unfortunate that has happened is a fact.
A sale that did not go through, a business deal that collapsed, a relationship that didn't work out. All of these are facts. Many people waste an enormous amount of emotional energy struggling with facts when they would be much better off concentrating on doing better in the future.
The commitments we make to ourselves and to others and our integrity to those commitments is the essence and clearest manifestation of our proactivity.
It is also the essence of our growth. Through our human endowments of self-awareness and conscience, we become conscious of areas of weakness, areas for improvement, areas of talent that could be developed, areas that need to be changed or eliminated from our lives.
then as we recognize and use our imagination and independent will to act on that awareness, making promises, setting goals and being true to them, we build the strength of character, the being that makes possible every other positive thing in our lives.
It is here that we find two ways to put ourselves in control of our lives immediately. We can make a promise and keep it, or we can set a goal and work to achieve it. As we make and keep commitments,
even small commitments, we begin to establish an inner integrity that gives us the awareness of self-control and the courage and strength to accept more of the responsibility for our own lives. By making and keeping promises to ourselves and others, little by little, our honor becomes greater than our moods.
The power to make and keep commitments to ourselves is the essence of developing the basic habits of effectiveness. Knowledge, skill, and desire are all within our control. We can work on anyone to improve the balance of the three. As the area of intersection becomes larger, we more deeply internalize the principles upon which the habits are based and create the strength of character to move us in a balanced way toward increasing effectiveness in our lives.
This intense focus on one goal is not easy, but it is all important. Orison Swett Marden wrote, "The giants of the race have been men and women of concentration who have struck sledge, hammer blows in one place until they have accomplished their purpose. The successful men and women of today are those of one over-mastering idea, one unwavering aim, men and women of single and intense purpose."
Martin also said that every great man has become great. Every successful man has succeeded in proportion as he has confined his powers to one particular channel.
Single-minded concentration in the direction of your dreams will intensify your desires and increase your emotional drive toward your goal. This intensity of concentration will activate the law of attraction and begin to attract people and opportunities into your life to help you achieve your goal.
The more you think about your goal, the more it will come to dominate and direct your life. The more you think about it, the more rapidly you'll move toward it and it will move toward you. Great men and women are those who absolutely believe that they are put on this earth to do something wonderful with their lives. They have a vision of something greater or better than their current circumstances. Personal greatness means having a sense of destiny and a conviction that
that your thoughts and your imagination are the only real limits to your possibilities. William James said, "Compared to what we ought to be, we are only half awake." We are making use of only a small part of our physical and mental resources. Stating the thing broadly, the human individual thus lives far within his limits.
He possesses powers of various sorts, which he habitually fails to use. The founder of Success Magazine, Orison Swett Marden, once said,
There are powers inside of you, which if you could discover and use, would make of you everything you ever dreamed or imagined you could become. In a five-year study of leaders reported on in his book, Leaders, Warren Bennis discovered that each of them consciously avoided the comfort zone by continuously setting higher goals. They never allowed themselves to become complacent.
They live their lives fully extended, always striving to be and do more. To develop unshakable self-confidence, you need to see yourself and think of yourself as a leader and to do what leaders do. You need to stretch yourself toward the outermost boundaries of your potential. You need to set goals that draw out of you the very best that is in you.
You need to work toward objectives that cause you to feel a sense of mastery and peak performance.
