Ryan Reynolds here for, I guess, my 100th Mint commercial. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I mean, honestly, when I started this, I thought I'd only have to do like four of these. I mean, it's unlimited premium wireless for $15 a month. How are there still people paying two or three times that much?

I'm sorry, I shouldn't be victim blaming here. Give it a try at mintmobile.com slash save whenever you're ready. $45 upfront payment equivalent to $15 per month. New customers on first three month plan only. Taxes and fees extra. Speeds lower above 40 gigabytes. See details. I have not wanted to play since I retired. But after seeing this, I was like, damn! Lace them up! This is Queens of the Court.

What's up, everybody? Welcome to another episode of Queens of the Court, an Odyssey original podcast produced in partnership with the WNBA. I'm your girl, Cheryl Swoop. And I'm Jordan Robinson. And court is in session.

The first in-person Court is in Session. That hit different. That was nice. It was so spot on. I am so excited about this episode. I'm excited about every episode, but I'm particularly excited about this episode. Me too. Ask me why. Ask me why. Oh, why? Why? Because we're in person and I get to do it with you.

That's the best part. We are recording this in Las Vegas from the Odyssey Studios. Shout out to Odyssey for taking us on a Sunday morning in Vegas. That's a different level. Yeah. We appreciate you. And we're in person because we're here for All Star, as you can tell by my voice.

We've had fun. It's been a good time. We were kind of talking about this on the drive over, but we have so many highlights or things that have really just been incredible this weekend. Why don't you kick it off? What were some things that stuck out? Do you want my highlights first or my lowlights? Oh, start with the lowlight because I know it's about me. Yeah, let's start with my lowlight. Oh, my lowlight. So...

I had my very first inaugural Cheryl Swoops soiree and my partner in crime invite everything. Wait, let me finish. Let me finish. Did not show up. Did you even text? I did text. You texted me in the middle of my speech that I was giving probably. Oh, okay. So can I give my side of the story of what happened? Yep.

Okay, so it's not going to change how I feel, but go for it. This is my apology tour. What was that Ruben Stoddard song? I'm sorry for 2004. You know that one? Okay, I know. So that's going to be my I'm sorry song. Okay, this is what happened. Okay, what had happened was I was so excited.

to go to your soiree because you were so excited about it and this is the first annual and you worked so hard to put it on i sent you a text in the morning saying happy brunch day have so much fun you're the best i was just giving you all these encouragements

But then what had happened was Asia Wilson confirmed for an interview at that exact time. You know what? I don't even want to hear anymore. I don't want to hear anymore because I hear a, basically, I kicked your ass to the curb from Asia Wilson is what I'm hearing.

No. So I was also here with the Women's Sports Network and Asia Wilson was able to stop by her set and she was a little tardy because originally she was supposed to come at noon and I was going to have plenty of time to go back to the win, say hi, come back before the next interview. But Miss Two Time MVP was a little tardy. So I did not have enough time after and I felt

terrible about it. So here's my apology. And you guys can't see Cheryl's face, but she's not buying it. Please forgive me. But you know what, y'all? Let me just tell you how much I still love her, even though she stood me up. Thank God. She needed to be present for her gift bag.

But yet, I just decided to personally deliver her gift bag to her this morning. So anyway, but I do have to say the brunch was amazing. Yes. Great. I saw photos. You looked great. You were glowing. It was fine. Please tell us about it. I miss you. I miss you too. Well, since you're allowing me to do this, I just have to say being in a space with a

Just so many incredible strong women from the media space. And I was able to share that moment with some of my WNBA sisters, Teresa Weatherspoon, Tisha Pinachero, Sue Bird, Chastity Melvin, Misty Bass. That was for me, you know how we give our flower section? For me, it was about me being able to give flowers to my former friends.

And just showing them how much, you know, they mean to me and there's going to forever be a connection like it's a sisterhood. So it was great to have everybody be a part. And then I'll say this so I don't cry. I'll say it fast. But also we just kind of.

Had like a little tribute or a moment to Nikki McCray Pinson with yesterday being her services. So it was just beautiful. Had some amazing sponsors who came out and supported the event. And yeah, it was the first, but not the last. And hopefully you won't stand me up next year. No, it's okay. I get another chance. I'm going to redeem myself. I'm going to keep you next year. Thank God.

I did talk to Teresa Witherspoon. She came to Mandalay Bay after and she said, I just left Cheryl's brunch. She was glowing, lighting up the room. She just looks so happy. And I love to see my people happy. That was a quote from Spoon. Spoonie, you know I love you. Come on the show. She did say that. We're going to have her on. We're going to have her on. But I would say. That was my low light. Okay, sorry. We can go to the highlights.

The highlights, again, I'm sorry. The highlights, and we talked a little bit about this too, but for me, it was people just coming up to me and saying,

Stopping me from any parts of the court or wherever I was all All-Star weekend to say how much they love the podcast and to say how much it's needed in the WNBA community and loved. And I just remember one specific woman who was with, I think, her sister and her mom.

And she was like yelling my name down the hallway around WNBA Live, which was incredible, by the way. And she was like, Jordan, Jordan, you and Swoops are incredible. We listen to your podcast. When she turns to her mom, who may be like 70 years old, she's like, my mom listens to. Oh, my.

Oh, my God. She loves it. It just reminds her of the old school WNBA when you guys talk about the history. And we took a picture. And I was like, is this what swoops feels like all the time when people stop her? Because I'm not used to this. But it was really, especially, you know, when you're in it and we're doing this every week. But to feel it at All Star where people would just really love the podcast was incredible. No doubt. That for sure was incredible.

one of my highlights, probably the highlight of the weekend was the same thing. I actually had a couple of men come up to me and they were like, yo swoops. I was like, hold on. First of all, you don't know me like that, but they were like, yo swoops, you and Jordan, the podcast is like on fire. It's a point. We love it. So I felt good about that. Good about that. But to your point, Jordan, I was, oh,

over at WNBA Live and just, you know, walking around convention center. And I had a few people like calling my name, like swoops, swoops. So in my mind, I was like, okay, like I got to get ready for pictures, autographs, right? So I turn around and I'm like, hey, and so they're coming up to me and, but they didn't have anything for me to sign. So I was like, okay, we're just going to take a picture. But they were like, listen,

I loved you. Love you playing that and all that stuff. They said, but the podcast is on a whole nother level. Oh, that's so fun. It's so refreshing. It's different. You guys have fun. So to hear that, right? Like we get listener emails and, and like, we feel really good about those, but to hear, hear that in person in the comments and everybody's like, give us more, give us more.

um, God, it was so much fun. It was really fun. Yeah. It's different from a listening email than people in person. No, that was great. That was definitely, of course, I'm sure you did too. I got the, from everybody did the gavel travel. The gavels did travel. It traveled not to the convention center. It did travel. And now, and now that we kind of figured out that we can take the handle off. Yeah. It comes apart. It might need to

traveled in my purse. It'll travel more now that we know we can kind of dismantle it and put it back together. It's going to, it's going to travel more, but yes, thank you guys for, I put it on Twitter before I left. Like if you see me, please come say hi. And I feel like everyone did that. Thank you for listening to this podcast. Thank you for saying that you love it. We just really appreciate it. And yeah. Any other, I think I'm in

I think for me, another highlight was the WNBA live portion of all-star weekend. It was incredible. There were so many sponsorships. I tried to shoot at the star three point contest, uh,

My arm is still sore. I don't remember the last time I shot a three pointer and I had, no, it was, it was bad. It was bad. I think I banked one. It was rough. Did it go in? It did. Listen, it doesn't matter. It went in. I don't care how ugly it looked or whatever. It went in. That's true. On the score sheet, it just says a make. It doesn't say how it went in. No doubt. No doubt. Listen to, to your point. I totally agree with you. Um,

every year there's something different I see with All Star that I'm like, okay, that's it, right? Like that's on point. Glad. And WMJ Live was that for me this year. And when you talk about sponsorships, for me, like the MyL sponsorship is so,

so incredibly like, like it makes sense. When I look at the W and cause everybody's, we had this conversation. Like we were like, we're going to have a whole beauty segment one day, but we talked about just players like their hair and how the edges are always laying in for my L to come in and say, we see you. We want to be a part of this. And to make that announcement during all-star weekend and everybody walking out with their little goodie bags. I was like, Oh, wow.

Well, yeah, that makes sense. And we have to say that a part of their station, it was from one queen to another. Yes. And I felt like that was really for us. Well, the picture that we took where you were sitting in the queen's chair. Yes. And I was standing and then it had the from one queen to another. I was like, this was made for us. This was made for us. It wasn't, but it was. Yeah.

And they loved my fro. Oh, my gosh. Every single when I walked by that booth, they were like, can you be our hair model? Can you come back tomorrow? And I was like, OK, I can't wash my hair. This is a whole day process. I love you guys. And I'll be using all your products that you gave me. But and that's not going to be the last time that we talk.

talk or interact with Mayel because a textured hair care product for the WNBA is so huge. I don't think people really understand. No, because when you look at the WNBA being, you know, I'm going to say 80, 85% black, like that's important.

Having someone that recognizes how the league is made up and what these women need. And I just kind of threw it in and said, well, let's not forget what former players need as well. You're like, I also need some hair care products. I'll take it. I'll take it. So shout out, Mayel. Appreciate you. We enjoyed hanging out with you at the booth this weekend. And keep the products coming. Yeah. And last thing I'll say, too, is just the crowd.

It was sold out, like really sold out. Every single seat in that crowd was taken. And I think I was just sitting in the media seat thinking,

chewing like 20 pan videos because I just wanted to remember this moment of how loud the crowd was and all the jerseys. And, you know, the Mystics didn't even have anyone there in the All-Star game, but people had their Mystics jersey on, just as an example. You know, people really came out and it was almost overwhelming to see all of the

um, fandom and love for the WNBA that we know to be true, but to see it and to see a sold out crowd like that, even courtside all the way up to the rafters. It was, it was beautiful. It was beautiful. It was beautiful to see. It was beautiful. Beautiful.

It was incredible. Okay, so we're going to take a quick break and then we're going to talk about this game that Team Stewart won over Team Wilson, which we did not call whatsoever. So we're going to talk about that after the break. And now a word from our sponsors at Betterment.

I think it's back-to-back winning for Team Wilson. Yeah. That's what I saw as well. All right, so that was us last week talking about how Team Stewie didn't have the oomph

And boy, were we wrong because Team Stewart defeated Team Wilson 143 to 127 in the All-Star game. It's not what we expected. But Cheryl, I'll ask you, what went right for Team Stewie? Because it actually wasn't Breanna Stewart. She didn't score until the second quarter, I think. Do you want the politically correct answer or...

The Cheryl used to play was an all-star answer. Both. Okay. Well, I don't think team Stewart party the night before as much as team Wilson. That's the Cheryl suits used to play. It was an all-star answer. And then, I mean, besides Joel Lloyd, I thought, I thought Sabrina, I,

Shot the ball. Well again again, she came out was like, oh y'all fought yesterday was a fluke. Mm-hmm No, let me just show you that's what I do. Yeah. Um, yeah, you're right. It was a stewie It was it was a lot of jewel Lloyd. It was a lot of BG. It was a lot of Sabrina

We were way wrong. The dogs did not come out biting. They did not. Not at all. You mentioned Jewel Lloyd. She had 31 points, which...

Okay, I want to talk about this because she had 31 points, which is the most points in the WNBA All-Star Game history. She was named MVP, which the trophy was nice. She could barely lift it over her head. That's how big it was. Social media makes things happen. The power. I know. The power of social media to bully the WNBA into getting them a bigger trophy.

I loved what she said, that it was her parents' 40th wedding anniversary. So this was her present to them by getting the All-Star MVP trophy. But is it, I want to ask you this, because is it a record when they have the four-point shot now? No. No.

Don't don't get me started with that. That's that's like going back to Caitlin Clark breaking Cheryl soups Oh, here we go record like here we go. Caitlin had an extra game Right and this is an egg because she had molt I feel like she had multiple four-point shots so to your point if we have if we had four-point shot opportunities back then and

it would be foreign records different right because we had players who could shoot it from deep as well oh for sure so but i gotta go back to one thing before we move forward when she was like yes that she congratulations happy anniversary all that and there's trophies for them listen jewel

Mama Lloyd does not want that for her anniversary. That's yours. She's happy. She's like, that's my baby. I know. She's like, that's my baby. Oh, I love Mama Lloyd. Yes. But Mama Lloyd is like, Jewel, come correct. You got to actually take them out to dinner. Actually give them a real gift. Yes. Because that is for you.

I was saying that, you know, she put out an incredible performance and especially, you know, she only needed one more three to get this record. So Team Wilson tried to triple team her in the corner, but they were setting double triple screens to get her open. And she hit the three pointer in the fourth quarter to get this record. But it seems like it's a different game. It has to be. This is the record.

since the four point basket has started. I don't disagree with you. And then what was the, you know, that was the record for regular three pointers. Cause that, it just seems right. I feel like that's a little asterisk that we have to have on that. This is just another reason why I love doing this podcast with you because you, you, you're yeah, you're there. You and I are right there. Yeah. No, and it's no shade to Joel cause she balled out and she's having, and it's not taking anything away from her. But I think when you start talking about like,

records being broken. And again, that's why records are set to be broken. But you also have to, like you said, there is a little asterisk beside it, but because we didn't have a four point

back then. So that's all I'll say. And I'll leave it there. I will say, just talking about rules, I liked how fast the game was moving. It was fast. Because the shot clock was only at 20 seconds. I don't even think we got close to that, how much they were firing. But the game was moving fast. And 143 points, even if it is a four point shot. But that's crazy. That's a lot of points. That's crazy. So that was entertaining because even I felt like the entertainment

in arena DJ couldn't keep up with how much the ball was changing possession from team to team, but that made it really, really fun. Shout out to Joel. She deserved that MVP team Stewie.

They just really came to play. But we do have to say Ryan Howard was selected to fill Elena Della Dawn and she was having the time of her life. Yeah. Kamish. I'm just saying Kamish got that one right. Got it right. She got it right. Remember we had that discussion on who is it going to be? Yeah. She got it right. And Ryan Howard had some goggles on.

the second half was they kind of look like shades honestly she was going after her teammate alicia gray and and you know she's goggle leash and she was like okay i gotta bring out some goggles and it she was just having fun i even talked to ryan on the orange carpet she was like i just want to pass with chelsea gray i just wanted to play with her for so long so she was just having a good time well and

And that is the fun thing about, you know, we're talking about All-Star and who won and records being broken. But that's the thing about All-Star is it's fun, right? Players aren't really trying to play defense. They're not trying to get hurt, nor are they trying to hurt anyone. So, you know, for Ryan Howard to come out with the goggles was really cute. In addition to so many other things that happened, Ryan Howard, um,

showed up at my brunch yesterday. Totally unexpected. I think she was just walking in the hallway and we saw her and we were like, come on in. So she came in, hung out for a minute. Ryan is a really, she's just a really good kid.

I just had to put that out there. I'm a big Ryan Howard fan. Oh, yeah. And she deserved to have that all-star. We had that conversation multiple times of dropping that 40 piece. I talked to Tisha Pinnachero, too, who's Ryan Howard's agent. And she was like, yeah, she dropped that 40 piece right after they announced that roster. And when she did not make that, she wanted to let everybody know that she deserved to be on that team. Oh, yeah. She was salty. Really happy that she got that chance. And then we have to talk about BG because...

Not only did she have a huge standing ovation, roaring crowd applause when she was announced. Her name was announced as a starter. But she balled out. She had 18 points, 13 rebounds, and she was having so much fun. Two dunks. Two dunks. Throw that in there. All was right in the world when BG dunked in an all-star game. I was like, oh, this just feels like everything is how it's supposed to be. It was perfect. Yeah, she...

She just looked happy, you know, and if we go back, not that we want to, but if we go back to last year, it was an all-star game, but it wasn't right. It didn't feel like an all-star game because it's,

To me, the only way Brittany Griner is not an all-star is if she's hurt or she's just not physically able to play. So the fact that she wasn't able to play last year and then to come back and see her on the court this year as an all-star, rightfully so, seeing her just enjoying the moment, having a great time, the fans love seeing her. It was really, really good to see her out on the floor. And Chelsea Gray was...

coming down the floor and she hit the floor and even like she got in her camp defensive stance. She was also mic'd up and she tried to hit a three and she said, Oh, someone's in my eye. I couldn't get it. She's just so funny. It was hilarious. Another hilarious moment.

Asia Wilson, when the ball got stuck on the top of the backboard, she stopped, took a dance break with the, what do you even call that? Like the pole to wipe the floor with? It was a broom. It was a broom. She just took a dance moment. A broom, something. Took a dance moment in the middle. And I was like, okay. Are you dancing? That was me dancing. Hey. A little bit. This is a sleepy tired dance, but I got something. Yeah.

um that was hilarious there was just so many fun moments where you could just tell i think aaliyah boston she was kind of serious i felt like she didn't know what she didn't know what to do right she didn't know what to do she was kind of like getting off into rebounds like really battling and i was like oh this is your first one i was like oh that's cute that's cute you don't have to you don't have to try that hard well when you think when you think about it right

what, three months ago, she's playing in the final four. And now here she is starting in the all-star game as a rookie. I'm sure she was like, do I play hard? Do I not play hard? She didn't know. What do I do? And you know what? And I'm sure the vets on her squad didn't say anything to her. They were probably just like, girl, just go play. Yeah. Go do you. Well, what was your first all-star game? Did you kind of have that?

feeling of like, oh, I don't know. Are we playing hard? Are we just having fun? Because it just seemed like she really no one told her. Well, the thing is, right, like the very first All-Star game, it was the first. So that's true. But we so we were able to like kind of set the tone of what it was going to be like. So it was fun the first half.

But at the end of the day, we're like, we got to win. So you really or we really didn't start playing hard or serious until like the end of the third quarter and all of the fourth quarter. I don't even know if we played quarters. I think we played halves. Oh, I think just when it when it got time to when it was time to turn it up and make sure we were going to win. Then we started playing serious. OK, it is supposed to be fun, but.

I'm going to say this because it's an all-star game, right? It's the best in the league, or at least the people think. I wouldn't mind seeing them play for real, for real.

That would have been... You know what I mean? That would have... Well, and it's like, I kind of was waiting for them to kind of turn it on. Yeah. To be serious. But then Team Stewart was just really... They started breaking away. So it kind of didn't make sense for Team Wilson to start... Okay, now we're going to start playing. Not at that point. No, not at all. The game was over. They really got a jump on them. But it was still fun. But I...

It was entertaining. Here's the thing. I saw Alyssa Thomas on the orange carpet and I told her, I said, there's never been a triple double in the WNBA All-Star Game. And she said, heck no. I don't want to do that. I want to rest.

She's like, I ain't doing all that. That takes a full game, 40 minutes. And I do not plan on playing that. And I can see that. That would have been fun to see them all at their 100%. But I also think Coach Becky Hammond and Stephanie White did not want that for all of their players to get tied. I guarantee you, if there would have been a bag on the line for a triple-double, AT would have been going for it. Okay, I like that. Having money on the line?

I like having money on the line for everything. I just like money. So that could be fun. That could be fun. You were also sitting courtside with some WNBA legends. What? Like yourself. How was that? Who were you sitting with? So someone asked me. Why didn't I get to see you? Because you didn't show up for my brunch. I walked right into that. I walked right into that. I shouldn't have said anything.

That's why I'm going to give you a hard time for a minute. But someone asked me at an event I did and we spoke to girls and they just, we talked about like what it meant to be an all-star and to be a part of all-star. You know, part of it for me is being able to,

to get in the community and do stuff but the other part for me is just an opportunity to reconnect right to reconnect with former players with my sisters and yesterday getting a chance to sit courtside with Sue Bird and Simone and Seal and Ashley Battle who else was down there with us um

I don't know. It was just, it was cool. And, and to be honestly, to be sitting courtside. So we're getting to really watch the action, but also we're interacting with the players, right? Like Kelsey Plum came over a couple of times and she was talking to Sue and then Nneka came over and we were chit chatting a bit and Nneka, we're waiting for you to come on the show. But it was, it was, it was a lot of fun. And, you know,

I felt like sitting courtside yesterday at the game was almost like just from a celebrity standpoint. You see it at NBA All-Star, right? Everywhere on courtside. Like that happened yesterday. Yes. At the WNBA All-Star game. Yeah, it was. The stars came out. Which is why I love having the game here in Vegas. You have Summer League. You have NBRPA. They're doing events. Like, yeah.

you can't go wrong with having an All-Star game here in Vegas. It really was the perfect host city. And we were talking about that too. And they announced that the next year it's going to be in Phoenix. And it was kind of cute. Asia like passed the ball over to BG at half court and they had the Phoenix Mercury mascot getting all excited for 2024. And I'm sure that's going to be super fun as well. But Vegas is just like,

If we could just know that it's going to be here every year, that would be so much fun. And the Aces love to host and they have the crowd and have the fandom to go with it. So I hope it comes back around. I do too. I just, I think it makes, it makes sense to me because like it's,

It's a good look for the W to have NBA players here and sitting courtside. And I think you get that because you're in Vegas, Summer League is going on. So they're coming out to watch Summer League and then, oh, there'll be All-Star games here. So let's go to that. So you go to a different city. Those guys aren't leaving Summer League.

to go to a different city to watch it's the it's less likely right but i think the phoenix uh crowd you know we talked about when when it's when they're thinking about what host city should we go to the mercury have a really good oh they always have really good fandom so i know that they're gonna show out and um yeah we're gonna go to one desert to another

Hot to hot for the next couple of years. But it'll be fun. Phoenix will be fun as well. It'll be fun. But before this, we have to talk about the three-point competition. Sabrina Inescu. Oh, my God. That was incredible to watch. Just, I don't know, if you've been living under a rock and you missed this video or you missed this record that she hit,

She made 25 out of 27 shots in the final round, broke an NBA and WNBA record for three-point competition. She had 37 total points because she hit the starry four-pointers as well. I was in awe. I just sat back and was like, what did I just get to witness? It was so pure, her shooting form. It was unbelievable.

Well, there's no doubt Sabrina can shoot the basketball. I think everybody knows that in college. Like, you know, we watch. That's what she does. She's a shooter with the Liberty. Like, she's a shooter. It was so like when she missed the two, I could just see the look on her face like.

Like, why would you miss those two? That's what she said. I interviewed her on the orange carpet. She's like, yeah, I'm mad. I missed too. Right. Right. What? But she, she does. She, she has such a beautiful stroke and her, her form is nice, like rhythm. And here's the thing. Everybody, like everybody can't,

be in a three-point shooting contest. Yes, that's what I'm saying. It's all about your form because not everybody has the right, like Jackie Young is a perfect example of that. She's shooting incredible this season, best she's ever shot, but she takes time. She loads her legs every time she shoots and you got to go faster. And so, and so Arike. Yeah.

Right. Like like a Rika is a gamer. She's one of those. She's got to go between her legs a few times and shoot and fade away. Three is falling out of bounds. That's going in. Right. Right. Not to say that she's not like because she can shoot the ball, too. But it's very different when you're in a contest versus in a game. Right. Sabrina doesn't shoot like that.

So much in a game because there's defense on her. Right. And so you got to create to get your shot off. And that's not her strength. But let me rewind for just a bit because I had someone, a few people come at me on Twitter and slid in my DMs.

After our last episode. And they call me a Sabrina hater. Uh-oh. When we talked about the NBA 2K24 cover. Yeah. So I need a moment. Take your moment. To address this. Okay? If you listen to the episode, I did say that it's not Sabrina's fault. Right? That she's on the cover. Has her own shoe. Not her fault. So I'm...

Let me clarify this. I am not a Sabrina hater. I'm not an anybody hater because I got my hair done that and then some. So let me just, let me say that. Okay. So not a hater. Never have been, never will be. I appreciate good basketball. But what I am a hater of is

This is for anybody who hasn't done enough to deserve that. That's what I'm a hater of because there's so many people out here who work their you know what's off every single day really, really hard and don't get their flowers. They don't get what they deserve. That's the part that bothers me. Then somebody said, well, see, she won the three-point shooting contest. Yes, she did. And she shot the lights out. But winning...

A three-point shooting contest still does not qualify you to be on the cover of NBA 2K24. It doesn't. She grabbed the gavel. I knew it was going down. It was a gavel drop, y'all. I just... I hear you. But it made it so...

When you watch something like that, you know that she is an incredible player. And I don't think we ever said she wasn't. I've never said that. I have a Sabrina Inescu jersey. Like, I know she is going to be one of the greats when it's all said and done because of the talent that she has and because how hard she works. And...

And, you know, I talked to her on the orange carpet. How did it feel? Has it set in that you won the three point contest? And she said, it's all my hard work kind of paying off and me being in the gym shooting because she is in the gym. She's in the gym. She's shooting and she deserves that. And she showed everybody that she is one of the best shooters ever.

That doesn't take anything away from, from anything that we were saying, we were talking about and what you were saying, Cheryl was the decision makers. And it's like, I'm not mad at her at all. Right. Right. I just, and I'm not going to go back here. Cause we talked about this last week, but when people are coming for me, I need to, I need to address it. But, but I look at, cause we talked about accolades, right? So I, I put Sabrina, uh,

My left hand, I put Asia on my right hand. There is no comparison. Like Asia Wilson has worked her ass off just like Sabrina and every other player. Right. So if, if you're doing this based off of accolades, make it make sense. Make it make sense. That's it. That's a perfect, that's a perfect place to end that. No, the perfect place to end it is by me saying, congratulations, Sabrina. Yes.

on winning the three-point shooting contest. And like Ali Quigley said, unbelievable. I don't know if that record will ever be broken. Ali Quigley said that.

oh man now ali quickly just how even if she doesn't play next year like if she just comes back with sabrina i think we would all be so happy and i will say i saw sammy woodcomb warming up she only missed one she can shoot it i saw her in practice i was like oh i don't think people are talking about sammy wickham enough because she's a spot-up she's made for this type of content and i was like i was telling people in the media i was like yeah i think i got sammy woodcomb

And if it was anybody else, I feel like Sam, because I think she had 27 points or something like that. Like she would have had a trophy, but Sabrina just had an unbelievable, incredible night. And I love that for her. It was all her family. Her fiance plays for the Raiders. So a lot of his family and her family were here to see that. And she, you know, she told me on the orange carpet that, that,

It was nice to have all them cheering. She had a whole cheering section during that. So yeah, I watched, I watched it. I didn't go. So I watched it. I was at a bar watching and I don't know. I don't know who it was, if it was her fiance. I don't know who it was, but they showed him when she finished and he just said, I read his lips. He said, everybody go home. Yeah.

It's over. It's over. A Kenny Smith dunk contest. I was sitting there. I was like, yep, it's over. Yeah. That was tough to follow. First, Sammy would come. Like we're talking about, that was tough to go after. She probably didn't even want to go. Right. But she had to. She walked up to Sabrina after. She was just shaking her head. I know. She's like, what am I supposed to do with that? I want to say what I think she said, but I won't say it. Okay. Yeah. But she was. I think she was just like, eh.

What? Like, really? Why did you have to do that? But it was fun to watch. Very fun to watch. Team Stewart took it home. Now the series is tied one to one as we go into Phoenix. We'll see if Team Wilson, Team Stewart get a third time to redeem themselves, even with the draft. And I want to say I'm sorry, Brianna Stewart, because... You know what, Stewie? Me too. I...

I was saying maybe GM isn't in your future. I was talking all this mess about the team that you picked together, but you, you shut me up and really everybody else. Um, so shout out to team Stewie. When we come back, we're going to take a quick break. We have one more final segment about the tweet of the week.

Mmm, cinnamony. The home with Duncan is where you want to be. All right, welcome back to Queens of the Court. And for our final segment...

I couldn't wait. When I saw this tweet, I was like, I am the luckiest woman in the world that I'm going to be in a studio with someone mentioned in this tweet to ask her her personal thoughts on this. So it's

SportsCenter tweeted, this was ahead of the All-Star game. It said, who's winning this star-studded matchup? And it said, WNBA All-Stars 2003 versus 2023. For 2003, it had Teresa Witherspoon, Cynthia Cooper, Cheryl Swopes, Tina Thompson, and Lisa Leslie.

And then for 2023, it had Chelsea Gray, Arike Agumbawale, Satu Sabli, Brianna Stewart, and Asia Wilson. This went pretty viral. And, uh...

I'm going to know who you think would win. No, I'm going to know who you think would win. Oh, absolutely. The 2003 team. Cheryl Swoops gets the MVP. Come through, Jordan. Absolutely. But this is good. First of all, I want to say,

This is a good tweet. We've talked about bad tweets that have compared W players or things like that. This is a good tweet because it gets the conversation going and people were debating who's the GOAT, who's better, who's going to match up. That's the conversations we need around the WNBA. But as somebody who is mentioned in this tweet who would have to be matched up, according to the graphic, you would be matched up with Satu

Who do you think is winning? The matchup between me and Satu? No, no, no. Just the teams. I know who's... You don't have to tell me that. Well, okay. I mean, like, this is such a no-brainer. First of all, you have Spoon, who is like... You know how I feel about Chelsea Gray. Chelsea Gray is a baller. Mm-hmm.

but chelsea ain't seen nobody like teaspoon who is gonna get up in your grill is gonna talk to you and it's gonna lock you up so all those fancy passes all that and that ain't happening ain't happening no and then you got i'm not even gonna say the names you got cc ss tt and ll oh enough said

say anymore. But I saw this myself as I was eating dinner last night and I was just like, oh, like, let me say this so no one comes for me. I'm not a hater. There's not a lot of defense on this 2023 team. That was my first thought. I said, this is the 2003 all defense team. 2023 isn't going to score a point.

This is, it's too much defense on the O3 team. The 2023 team is not going to score much and we're going to go crazy scoring. Cause let me see, you got Chelsea Gray on Spoon. Spoon is going to facilitate. Spoon is going to find us, right? Arike, Coop is going to go crazy. Crazy. I love Satu, so I'm going to just skip over that one.

T.T. is going to... She's either going...

like take Stewie on the block, give her a little. - Little shimmy shake, little shoulder shake. - A little TT twist. She call it dream shake, I call it the TT twist. Then she gonna pull her away from the basket, gonna give her a little mm-mm-mm. She shooting it, she going by. And then, yes, I love Asia, but Lisa, come on, Lisa, come on, Lisa. Y'all, listen, I so appreciate the tweet. I love the conversation.

I love people saying what they got to say. Cause here's my thing. Some of the comments I read, I'm like, you know what? I get it. It's recency bias. Oh, of course. Of course. But if you know the OGs on this list, come on now, rethink your answer. Your answer. She had to turn her fan up for that. She got excited. I have not, I have not wanted to play since I retired, but after seeing this, I was like, damn. Oh,

Lace them up. Hey, this is just a group chat. You can just text all of these women right now and say, hey, if we just start in the gym now, next year all-star, we can make this a reality. Jordan, now you try to put something out there that ain't really going to happen.

Okay. I can be hopeful. I think that's what I just got excited at the thought of this, even as a possibility because of you, all of you in your prime against all of these players in their prime, like that's what makes these conversations so fun because you have to say, okay, well, this is Oh three version of this person and these players that makes it so it would, it would be fun. It would be a lot of fun, but yeah,

You know what I do wish would happen for W All-Star? That they would have some type of a, like the skills competition. Bring a former player in. To be a part of the skills competition. Three point shooting competition. Bring a former player in. I would love to see that happen. Okay. What event are you signing up for? Oh my. Don't get me. Let me shoot. Are you going to be in the three point competition? I'll shoot. I'll do the skills competition.

Make it happen. Cheryl, they're going to make that happen. And then I'm going to be sitting sideline with my camera so happy if that becomes the reality. Come on. Let's do it. We talked about manifesting and speaking it into existence. That's what my shirt says, manifest. Oh, it really does. Don't read the bottom part. It says manifest. So we're manifesting a legends version of the three-point contest and skills. They did that for

that for an NBA all-star one? Yeah, they brought back Ray Allen. I think it would be super cool to do that. That just got me so excited. I love that so much. But if we're going to do it, I need to know now so I can start working out. I said that. Just get in the gym now. Just start that group text too. Just get all your peeps.

But I only want to know if we're going to do it before I get to the gym. Because if we ain't doing it, I ain't getting in the gym. Okay. We'll call Kathy. We'll see if she can put something in the books now. Just so you can get ready. Oh, wow. Okay. This was fun. And All-Star Weekend was fun. It was a blast. Clearly, my voice is...

struggling, but it was because I was just yelling and having so much fun. I will have to say partially because my voice is gone is because Cheryl was sitting courtside. They flashed her on the jumbotron and I was sitting in media seats, not so much courtside. And I yelled, I said, that's my co-host. Yeah,

People thought I was very weird, but it's okay. Thank you, Jordan. I have to shout you out. You know what? And I totally forgot this. So before we wrap it up, I got to add this. So we were talking about Sabrina. Yes. You and I were having coffee this morning. Oh, yeah. The guy that came up to us and Jordan and I are talking about, you know, all star and just stuff that we did this weekend. And this gentleman was sitting there.

behind us and I don't think either of us really paid any attention to him but clearly he heard our conversation and he got up and came over to us and just said you know we were talking about the all-star and he all-star game the skills competition three-point shooting competition in particular and he just basically said that they saw Sabrina he and his two sons saw Sabrina

in the lobby or somewhere and they were more excited to take a picture with her than they were the NBA guys that were in the hotel. And I thought that was like such a compliment to all the women, but in particular Sabrina and, you know, honestly like her impact that she has had already on the game, but

the fact that he felt the need to share that with us. I wanted to make sure we call that out. So whatever, whatever the women are doing, it is getting noticed. It is. For sure. And I, that's a great place to end because it was also just, I said how overwhelming and in awe I was of the crowd. And I guess I just want to ask your opinion. Like,

It definitely feels like it's growing. No doubt. The game is growing. It's very much so if you build it, they will come. It was a perfect place and everyone came and cheered and supported. And it was just somebody who is an OG fan and someone who is an OG player. It was just like, man, we've been waiting for this. Like this just seems strong.

so exciting and it's only going to go up from there. You know, and, and I saw like just a lot of people around this weekend and, you know, they were like, Oh, I came in from out of town. And my first response and shame on me, my first response was, Oh, you're in town for summer league.

And they were like, no, I'm in town for WME All-Star Game. And I was like, shame on me, right? Because that should have been the first question I asked. So yeah, it's absolutely growing and it's good to be able to continue to be a part and be around and watch it happen.

Well, Vegas, you treated us well. You were hot. Record-breaking. Yeah. Some extra fans. Cheryl lost one fan. I got to find my other one. But thank you, Vegas.
