Mr. Jim started the podcast as a solution to help tell his sons stories while he was traveling for work. He recorded stories and uploaded them to a podcast app so his wife and kids could easily access them, turning a family bedtime routine fix into a global audience.
Mermaids brush their teeth with bubbly toothpaste, brush their hair using spiky coral, and put on their favorite pajama shirts. They read bedtime stories, tuck their kids into clam shell beds with seaweed quilts, and ensure jellyfish nightlights are lit before sleeping.
Mermaid families eat dinner together, share stories of their day, feed their pet fish, and watch the dark ocean above them. The kids play and race on sea turtles, while parents prepare meals and care for their seahorses.
Jellyfish light the sandy streets and coral forests, guiding mermaids as they finish their day. They also serve as nightlights in mermaid homes, creating a calming atmosphere for bedtime.
The podcast offers calming, imaginative narratives designed to help children relax and transition into a restful night's sleep. Mr. Jim's soothing voice and positive messages create a peaceful environment, making bedtime a magical and comforting experience.

Hello friends and welcome to Bedtime Stories with Mr. Jim. I was just getting ready for bed. Are you as well? Oh good. I hope you brushed your teeth and found all of your comfy things like pillows and blankets and stuffies. Oh yes, oh good. Well, as long as you have all those things ready,
Then it's time for our story. But first we must close our eyes so that we can travel to an imaginary world. Have you ever wondered how mermaids get ready for bed? The sun is setting, painting the sky before it disappears. The colors of the sky reflect off of the ocean, turning the blue water into pink,
red and orange waves. The waves are splashing around, enjoying their new colors for a few minutes. Then the moon arrives and makes the ocean bright white in the places that it shines down. All the rest of the water is dark, all the way down to the very bottom of the ocean, except where mermaids live.
The land of the mermaids is still bright and cheerful as they finish their day. Jellyfish float through the sandy streets and coral forests, lighting the way for the mermaids. Construction mermaids put away their shovels and pails, finishing their sandcastles for the day. It is time to ride their seahorses to the store to pick up dinner for their families.
They wave hello to the dolphins that work at the store and the dolphins click happily. Sushi rolls, seaweed salads, and tuna casseroles are all on the menu tonight. Mermaids love their seafood and undersea veggies. They wave goodbye to the dolphins and other mermaids they see and hop back on their seahorses to head to their homes.
Back in their sandcastle neighborhoods, the mermaid kids swim down the sandy streets. They play together and race around on sea turtles until dinner time. The jellyfish wiggle their way over to the castle of the mermaids. The shells decorating their sandcastle homes shimmer in the glow of the jellyfish. Inside, dinner is ready.
and mer moms and mer dads call their mer kids home for dinner. In the blue seashell sandcastle, a merm family eats and shares stories of their day. Mama mermaid tells her family all about the sandcastle she built that day, while dad mermaid talks about his day training seahorses. The mer kids share stories about school,
And the little mermaid girl describes how she won the sea turtle race just before dinner. After feeding themselves, the mermaids always make sure they feed their pet fish. Mermaids don't keep their pet fish in bowls. They just let them swim around in their homes. The fish swim over happily and eat their food flakes as they float around the kitchen.
Then the mermaids go outside and put their seahorses away in the sand stables for the night. Before going to sleep, mermaids like to watch the dark ocean above them. The scales of fish swimming above reflect the light of the moon, glittering like stars in their watery sky. Every once in a while, a whale will swim by up ahead, blocking the shimmery scales as it passes.
The merkids yawn. Now it is time for the mermaids to get ready for bed. How do mermaids get ready for bed? You might find it similar to you and me. First, mermaids must brush their teeth. They spread their bubbly toothpaste across the bristles of their brushes and then scrub it against their teeth. They put their toothbrushes away without needing to rinse.
They smile and inspect their pearly white teeth. Next, they brush their hair using some spiky coral and put on their favorite pajama shirts. Since mermaids have tails and not legs, they don't need any pajama pants. Mermaids love to read bedtime stories.
There are books about princesses in dry land castles and mer-knights in underwater sandcastles. But tonight, in the Blue Seashell Sandcastle, a favorite book is chosen. Mermaids read a story about a brave mermaid and her dolphin best friend. Once upon a time, in an undersea land much like ours,
There lived a brave little mermaid named Molly. The mer-mommy snuggles her little ones close as she reads. Pictures of galloping seahorses and sunken pirate treasures are splashed across the pages. Molly the mermaid defeats a sneaky squid and outwits pesky pirates. When the mer-mommy closes the book, the mer-kids are sleeping.
The mermaid parents pick them up and swim them to their rooms. All around the ocean, mermaid families settle their merkids down into their big clam shell beds, tucking them in with their seaweed quilts. The mermaids make sure their jellyfish nightlights are lit and kiss their merkids on their head.
The moon shines brightly in the sky as all the mermaids snooze below the surface. The little mermaid girl dreams she is walking on a beach, playing with the kids who live above the water. Her merbrother dreams that he is fighting krakens with his seahorse. Little boys and girls who live above or below the ocean both sleep and dream. They play together.
and eat dinner, and brush their teeth. They wear pajamas and hear bedtime stories. This is how mermaids get ready for bed. The same as you and me. Well, my friends, as we all drift off to sleep, may you have very sweet dreams. I will see you tomorrow. Good night.
