The importance of mentorship — and sponsorship — in cardiology cannot be overstated.  Throughout the medical training process biases and barriers can conspire to drain off a lot of exceptionally talented women — one  reason female chairs, chiefs, and lead research authors are few and far between. And research is the name of the game when it comes to advancing women’s heart health.
