Where do I even start with Dr. Romie Mushtaq?! This episode is absolutely one of my favorites EVER.
Here are the Cliffs Notes on Dr. Romie:
No stranger to trailblazing, Dr. Romie was a neurologist when less than 5% of the field was made up of women. Even though she loved her work, the punishing 80-100 hours per week she spent working soon led her to her own health crisis. It was on the recovery bed after surgery that Dr. Romie realized she needed a new approach to her own life.
Since then, Dr. Romie has launched into a career of education and inspiration, all aimed at addressing the serious issue of how stress impacts our health.
Currently the Chief Wellness Officer at Evolution Hospitality, Dr. Romie now oversees the health of over 5,000 of their employees by combining traditional Western medicine practices with Eastern traditions to address both the body and the spirit.
Dr. Romie's TED talk, "The Powerful Secret of Your Breath," has been viewed over 320,000 times, and she continues to be an on-demand speaker nationwide on the topics of whole-self health and well being. She now says her mission is to shift our brain health--to change how we all approach our hectic lives and therefore improve the quality of our lives.
As if all of that weren't enough, she's also working on a book on that very topic.
