圓形的東西代表團圓、和諧，因此在台灣料理店，吃飯的桌子都是圓桌，大家吃飯時圍著圓桌吃飯，象徵著團圓。中國人以前吃飯時席地而坐，自己有自己的餐點，各吃各的，而在西元3-400年前，中國人開始使用圓桌，大家圍在圓形的桌子旁邊一起吃飯，加上什麼菜都看得到、夾得到，因此後來我們就習慣使用圓桌吃飯...

圍 wéi: to surround
象徵 xiàngzhēng: symbolize
席地而坐 xí dì ér zuò: sit on the ground
