TianGong Ultra Takes First Place in Robot Half Marathon

The world's first half marathon with both robots and humans participating was successfully held in Beijing, attracting 12,000 human runners and nearly 20 robot teams. After an intense competition, the TianGong Ultra robot, developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, crossed the finish line first with an impressive time of 2 hours and 40 minutes, successfully winning the robot race. This robot has a top speed of 12 kilometers per hour and employed a battery replacement strategy roughly every 5 kilometers during the first 10 kilometers of the race. The research team stated that they will continue to optimize TianGong Ultra and are actively working on the development of subsequent versions, with this competition marking a significant innovative step for robot technology in the field of sports.

SHEIN and Temu to Adjust U.S. Prices

Fast fashion giant SHEIN and e-commerce platform Temu have jointly announced that they will adjust the prices of goods in the U.S. market starting April 25, 2025, due to changes in global trade rules and tariff policies. The main reason for this price increase is the U.S. government's cancellation of the de minimis exemption for small packages, directly leading to higher logistics costs for Chinese goods entering the United States. This policy change is expected to increase shopping expenses for American consumers and has already triggered strong opposition from the Chinese textile industry. Despite recent growth in SHEIN and Temu's sales in the U.S. due to stockpiling demand, both companies have also begun to reduce advertising spending to cope with the upcoming market changes. Meanwhile, Temu has shown strong performance in the Polish market, becoming one of the most popular e-commerce platforms in the country.

Webb Telescope Discovers Potential Signs of Life

The latest observations from the James Webb Space Telescope are exhilarating, with astronomers detecting the presence of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) in the atmosphere of a distant exoplanet. This significant discovery has garnered widespread attention in the scientific community because DMS on Earth is commonly associated with biological activity, hinting at the possibility of life on this planet. Astronomers noted that the environmental conditions of this exoplanet appear suitable for life, providing exciting new directions for future in-depth exploration. Currently, scientists are actively studying this finding, hoping to gain a deeper understanding of the potential for extraterrestrial life.
