Hey, folks, Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper Lore, a bonus episode designed to serve as a topical guide to the most recent episode of the podcast. My team and I have made well over 300 episodes over the past decade, so I know that frustration when you hear a new episode and it sparks a memory of a similar one from a couple of years ago, but you can't track it down. That's where Deeper Lore comes in.
The goal here is to quickly point you in the direction of some older related episodes, so you can keep this week's topic alive a little longer and, you know, go deeper into the lore. This week for episode 275, Taking Control, we headed to an area of France called Aix-en-Provence to follow the story of a convent full of demon-possessed nuns. Or at least that's the way it seemed.
but the true story was much darker and filled with all sorts of odd bits of folklore. And sadly, stories like that aren't unique in history. So here are three older episodes that will pair up nicely with this week's new one. First up, episode 57, Quarantine. As another French story, this is going to feel like a natural companion to our newest episode, but there's a lot to be learned through comparison and looking for patterns. Enjoy this dark classic episode.
I know I did. Next, download episode 155, "Skin Deep," which is another French panic story, but on a whole different level. Lovers of monster episodes are really going to enjoy this one. Yes, my French pronunciations are far from flawless, but it's the folklore that shines here. And finally, go give episode 81, "On the Edge," a listen. One last story set in France, but with an entirely different sort of threat attacking a community.
I won't spoil it for you, but I guarantee you'll never think about certain things in your life the same way again after following this wild, folklore-filled story. So, there you go. Follow up this week's brand new episode with a trip into the past. Episodes 57, 155, and 81 are waiting for you in this podcast feed. You can just scroll down the app to find them, or you can tap their direct links in the description for this episode. And until next time, stay spooky.

Hi, I'm Chris Gethard, and I'm very excited to tell you about Beautiful Anonymous, a podcast where I talk to random people on the phone. I tweet out a phone number. Thousands of people try to call. You talk to one of them. They stay anonymous. I can't hang up. That's all the rules. I never know what's going to happen. We get serious ones. I've talked with meth dealers on their way to prison. I've talked to people who survived mass shootings.
Crazy funny ones. I talked to a guy with a goose laugh. Somebody who dresses up as a pirate on the weekends. I never know what's going to happen. It's a great show. Subscribe today. Beautiful Anonymous.
