You're listening to Preston and Steve on 93.3 WMMR. With Preston Elliott. I'm just getting warmed up. And Steve Morrison. And it absolutely will not stop, ever. Plus, Casey Boy. When you're the most annoying sound in the world. Nick McElwain. That last one goes out to Nick. And Marissa Magnata. Care to join me for a glass of breakfast wine? And now, Preston and Steve on 93.3 WMMR.
And we begin. And we welcome you, Fred. Hop on board. It's a Wednesday morning. We got stuff for you. Before we get into all that, let's see how we are going to fare weather-wise for today. We're looking at rain. What you see is what you get. Today's high, about 58 degrees or so. We got rain off and on all day long from what I understand. Now, tomorrow...
Actually, a pretty decent day. Some morning clouds and afternoon sun. High of about 76 degrees. Maybe some afternoon showers to deal with on Friday. And that leads to more rain into Saturday. And the high band only about 68 degrees. So we do have a couple of wet days to keep an eye on. And now, Kristen and Steve's News Update.
All right, today is Wednesday. It is May 28th. Philadelphia police are going to add extra patrols in Fairmount Park after a mass shooting on Memorial Day left two people dead and nine others injured. Almost two dozen shell casings were found.
from three different weapons at the scene on Lemon Hill Drive. Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said even though officers were nearby, they don't know if the violence was random or targeted. 23-year-old Maya Devlin and 21-year-old Mikhail Bowers were killed.
And the injured ranged in age from 15 to 28 years old. The incident happened quickly. Police said that they are reviewing social media videos to identify suspects in the case. Bethel said that while police will be increasing patrols, they won't be looking to limit permits for gatherings in the park. And added that the department needs to improve its intelligence about incidents that pop up.
Officials say at least one of the weapons was equipped with a switch designed to give the gun fully automatic shooting capacity. Officials also vowed to tighten security for the upcoming Roots picnic to make sure that people feel safe. And more than 40 performers will take part in that event this weekend at the Mann Center in Fairmount Park.
A black bear has been spotted running through a neighborhood in Mercer County, New Jersey. Sighting happened in the Yorkshire Village in Lawrenceville yesterday and on Monday in West Windsor. Police warned residents about a black bear sighting in the area of Market Fair.
Last month in Hamilton Township, a black bear was spotted running through a neighborhood. And in Mercer County two days ago, there were two black bear sightings. And it's that time of year again. Bear sightings aren't frequent in Mercer County, but they're also not uncommon.
Officials are urging residents to not chase or corner the wild animals. Yes, that's a good idea. To help prevent attracting bears, residents are encouraged to secure their garbage and report a sighting or damage. And you can call the Department of Environmental Protection at 877-927-6337. Now, Lawrence officials said do not call animal control as those officers are not equipped to handle bears.
And New Jersey's Department of Fish and Wildlife does not respond to routine bear sightings. To the best of your knowledge, have you ever had a bear sighting out in your neck of the woods? No. Yeah. Never have heard of one in the woods.
in and around my area. And we live in a pretty rural area. Yeah. That's what I was asking. Cause I thought it might be possible, but yeah, did I show you the video? My brother sent, there was a bear eating out of his bird feeder. Yeah. Yeah. It's so funny. Cause like my, my in-laws live in the Poconos and they just have them in their backyard all the time. In fact, they had a mama bear and two cubs, uh, earlier in the spring. And they're pretty sure that they are yearlings at the same cubs and same mama from, from the year before. So when we talk about bears and get excited about it, which I do, I love seeing them. Uh,
My in-laws are just like, yeah, all right. It's kind of standard for us. Holy mama. Bear watch. Bear watch indeed. And what's the... I got them all. A cute little bear. I was hoping for that one. There you go.
All right, so... I'm a big chubby bear with a furry little tail. Happy as a bear can be. There they are. All right, and then finally, Villanova University's merger with Rosemont College includes a $40 million investment by Villanova as the two Catholic universities have agreed to merge by 2028.
Students enrolled now will have until June 2028 to earn their Rosemont degrees and the college will remain independent until then. Its extracurricular activities will stay in place except for varsity sports, which will stop after the academic year 2026. Villanova put up $5 million in December to maintain exclusivity while negotiating a merger agreement and another $10 million after the agreement was signed. Villanova also placed
$5 million in escrow to cover some of Rosemont's operating costs, with additional payments of $20 million over the next two and a half years. Rosemont, which has been around for more than a century now on its campus, will become Villanova University Rosemont Campus in 2028.
The two schools are less than a mile apart, but Rosemont only has 774 students currently enrolled, while Villanova has over 10,000. Rosemont has operating losses five years in a row and has had to borrow from its endowment to meet operating expenses. And in sports this morning, your brand. Ball sacks are yummy. Ball sacks are yummy. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
The Phillies won again. They beat the Atlanta Braves 2-0 last night at the ballpark. Ranger Suarez struck out eight Braves over six shutout innings, and the Phillies survived an injury scare to Bryce Harper to get another win. Harper left in the first inning after he was hit near the right elbow by a 95-mile-an-hour fastball from Braves starter Spencer Strider. Harper sustained a bruise, and the good news is that x-rays were negative.
Phil's manager, Rob Thompson, said that Harper was in a lot of pain after he was hit. He'll be evaluated again later this morning. Even without Bryce, Phil still won for the 10th time in 11 games and continue to have the best record in baseball. The series continues tonight. Zach Wheeler will get the start. The first pitch is scheduled for 645.
In the NBA, the Pacers pushed the New York Knicks to the brink of elimination with a 130-121 win in Game 4 last night in Indiana. The Pacers lead the series three games to one. Game 5 is tomorrow night at Madison Square Garden and tip-off is at 8 o'clock. In the NHL...
The Oilers beat the Dallas Stars 4-1 in Game 4 last night in Edmonton. The Oilers are up 3-1 in that series. They can advance to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second year in a row with a win in Game 5 tomorrow night in Dallas. The puck will drop at 8 o'clock. And the Eagles are still the Super Bowl champs.
And that's what I have for you in sports this morning. All right, thank you very much. Nick, so welcome to Wednesday morning. Midweek already. That's a wonderful thing, my friend. We are going to set you up with some stuff today. We're going to go live on Fox Good Day. That's a regular Wednesday thing that we do. We have a couple of guests that will be on the program as well. We're going to have Jane and Guy Gaudreau stop by now.
Their sons, Johnny and Matthew, Johnny, a professional hockey player, of course, played for several years in the NHL, were killed in that horrible accident in New Jersey with a drunk driver. They were riding bikes. They had the first annual Goudreau Family 5K Run and Walk.
that is taking place. It's on Saturday. So, yeah, the mom and dad are going to stop by here this morning. We're going to talk to them, obviously, about losing their sons and how they're turning that into, you know, as positive a thing as you could possibly do. Yeah, I was watching something like that. Nick Preston, I was watching some of the news reports from the day after it occurred. It's just unbelievable, so devastating. But, as you said, they're going to try to do something good with this. Yeah, so they'll be by in the 8 o'clock hour. Looking forward to talking to them. And also, our good friend, Mr. Kempis,
Kevin Bacon will be joining us on the program today. We have had him on a lot, 10, 15 times, I don't know, over the years, but it's almost like a yearly thing. So the great Kevin Bacon popping on to chat with us in the 9 o'clock hour about the six degrees of fermentation, which is a collab that he's doing with some breweries. It's actually a really cool idea. Very cool idea. And so we'll get a chance to talk to him about, you know, everything.
Everything. Movies, Philly, music, everything that Kevin's into, and beer, obviously, as well. So we're looking forward to spending some time with him. We are also looking forward to revealing the name of our winner from the coolest teacher of the year. Yesterday, it was drawn randomly by Casey himself, Henderson High School, and we put the word out. It's what we do. We ask the students to vote and let us know who the coolest teacher of the past year has been, and they did. Yeah!
And we are ready to announce our winner from Henderson High School is, I'll do my best to pronounce the last name, Alicia Shiles. Alicia Shiles.
Alicia's last name is spelled S-C-H-I-E-L-E, so it may be Sheil. It may be Shiel. I'm not really sure. The only thing I know is that she's a math teacher at Henderson High School, and the kids love her, apparently. Again, when you're teaching math and you're a popular teacher, that's an uphill battle. Heading into graduation, and the students have decided that Miss Shiel or Sheil was their favorite of the year, which is a pretty sweet deal. So we are going to set Alicia up.
with, of course, the President Steve, coolest teacher of the year. Coffee mug as a little memento to hang on to to say, hey, this is from the kids. A job well done. I would stand outside my classroom in the hallway so the other teachers could see as I drank my coffee from this mug. It's a subtle sign. We're also going to give her a $50 gift card from our friends at Dunkin', and they are the ones that are sponsoring this event. So congratulations. If you know Miss Sheil or Shile,
Tell her to reach out to us today. We'd love to hear a thing or two about her and just find out what she's doing for the summer and why she's such a cool teacher as well. So thank you to Duncan, like I said. And at Duncan, you can order Duncan's $6 meal deal for a whole vibe. Bacon, egg, and cheese, hash browns, and medium coffee exclusions and terms apply. Why don't we pick another school? Yes. All right.
I got it right here. All right, Steve Morrison is going to reach into the giant mason jar of which we have the schools on pieces of paper. Choose one and decide who's up next. I got one now. All right. From deep within the mason jar. And it is... Northeast Prep! Northeast Prep! Northeast Prep! All right. Northeast Preparatory. If you go to school there...
You get to vote, and you get to let us know. We'd choose every school every year if we could, but we just don't have the time to do it, so that's why we choose these randomly. And Northeast Prep in Philly, all you got to do is text the word teacher to 610-660-9333, and then we'll send you the voting link. Once you get the voting link, then you can let us know which teacher has made a difference to you. If you go to northeastprep.org,
You need to let the staff know that this has happened. That way they can spread the word in the inner workings of the school and let everybody get on board. It's easy to do. If you need to give them a reference, tell them to go to WMMR.com or PrestonAndSteve.com.
And they'll see how they go about it. And they can share this with everybody. So, again, text the word teacher to 610-660-9333. 24 hours and in tomorrow morning, we'll find out who the winner is. And we'll award the prize. That is the way it works. So, Northeast Prep in Philadelphia. We're going to take a break. We're going to come back in a moment. The Entertainment Report is indeed on the way. Surprising DUI to show us a few other things, too. We'll be right back.

Hey, welcome to the Preston and Steve podcast, which is brought to you by Acme Markets. Hungry and in a hurry? Acme's flash grocery delivery or pickup gets you fresh groceries in 30 minutes or less. Acme, fresh foods, local flavors, and the official grocery partner of the Preston and Steve show. Thanks for listening to our podcast, and thanks to Steven Singer for being the official jeweler of the Preston and Steve show.
Now, back with more of the Preston and Steve Show podcast. All right, thank you, Marissa. So, a little while ago, we chose another high school to highlight for coolest teacher of the year, and that was Northeast Prep. And guess what?
Northeast Prep doesn't exist anymore. No! They shut down years ago, and so that was our faux pas. So it'd be really hard getting submissions for that one. So we're going to do a redo. Steve, can you jump back in and pick another one? There we go.
All right, I got one. All right, what you got? All right, I feel good about this one that it at least probably exists. We're looking at Haddon Township High School. All right. Haddon Township High School. Haddon Township High School. Now, you guys get it. You get to vote, all right? So if you go to Haddon Township High School...
Just text word teacher to 610-660-9333. We'll send you the voting link. That's how the whole thing works. So I'm not going to go through the whole spiel all over again. You can go to presidentsteve.com or wmmr.com.
Very, very simple to do. Text the word teacher, not the teacher's name. You go to Haddon Township, text the word teacher, 610-660-9333. Then we send you the voting link, and then you can put the name in. But let them know, let the staff know that this is happening, and they can help get the word out to the student body, and so we get a fair representation of the coolest teacher of the year, Haddon Township High School again. All right, and with that, guess what?
Our coolest teachers are right here. From Henderson High School. And we'll see if I got the name anywhere near correct or not. We have Alicia Scheil who is joining us. Alicia, good morning. Good morning.
Good morning, how are you? Good. All right, Alicia, first, the name, pronunciation correct, please tell me. Sheely. Sheely! Sheely. You tried. I didn't even get anywhere near. All right, well, whatever. That's okay. Mrs. Sheely, so you are a math teacher at Henderson High School, and how long have you been there at Henderson?
This is my fifth year at Henderson, but I've taught in Westchester for 28 years. Wow. Nice. All right. And always math and always the same subject in math? Like if you just always taught algebra or geometry or have you moved around a little bit in the math world?
Oh, we move around a little bit in the math world. So anything from algebra to pre-calculus. Okay. You got it all covered. To me, it always seems like a difficult topic to become a popular teacher teaching just because it can be a difficult subject for a lot of people. I know I wasn't the best at it. So what do you think you bring to your students that makes you the favorite, the coolest teacher?
Well, I don't like to get bored, so I try to mix it up. We have some special days throughout the year. We've got hot chocolate days. We have a cricket eating day. We have a lemonade day, pancake day. Oh, wow. That definitely sweetens the deal. Cricket eating day? Could you expand on that a little bit, please?
It's a silly thing. They're just little tiny crickets that people who hike a lot eat, but everybody gets to leave with the flex that they ate a cricket that day. Wow. Now I get it. You're doing cool stuff. I love it. I love it. Yeah, I love Homecoming Week. I've got a TikTok, so I really take whatever the theme is to the max, make a TikTok about it, put it out there for the kids. Nice.
It's fun. Alicia, did you know about this competition that was going on? Or, you know, not competition, this recognition that was happening?
um i just found out yesterday about it excellent well listen they they they got on board they voted for you and now we have this cool little memento and keep in mind where we created this thing but it is it is from your students they are the ones that are saying thank you for being a cool teacher and i think that's such a special thing because at very few teachers connected with me when i was in high school and and uh and junior high and and uh
It wasn't from a lack of trying, I'm sure. It was an uphill battle. It was an uphill battle with me. But we and your students appreciate what you do. And so it's a nod from them. We are going to give you a $50 Dunkin' gift card. And we're also going to give you the coveted Preston and Steve Coolest Teacher of the Year coffee mug, Alicia. So congratulations to you. Best prize ever. Awesome. Love it. All right. Have yourself a fantastic summer and keep doing what you do. Thank you. All right.
It's Alicia Sheely. That was very good. Congratulations. She has to do his theater students' crickets. Yeah. And
We are throwing it out there to another school now, Haddon Township High School in Westmont, New Jersey. So text word teacher to 610-660-9333 for the voting link. Then we'll be able to talk to your favorite teacher tomorrow. All right, I have a stupid question. We're going to move on to that. We're going to give away a pair of Moody's Piers same-day ride and water park combo tickets. It's at MMR's Big Friggin' Deal, by the way. And here is the question that I ask. What is the only New England state...
with no Atlantic coastline. 610-660-9333. Call if you know the answer. What is the only New England state with no Atlantic coastline? 610-660-9333. Call now. We'll go through some birthdays today. Today being the 28th day of May. Brandon Cruz, who played Eddie on the courtship of Eddie's father way
way back in the day i love that show as a kid i thought it was awesome because it was kind of a it was uh bill bixby was the dad and mrs livingston he was a widower yeah i think the story was uh he had killed her oh yeah they were okay yeah he murdered her in cold blood but then claimed he had to raise a child yeah it's tough you know for the for your murderer but no it was a sweet series no but i would have a little bit ground you see i just liked it because i liked it
you know, the father-dad relationship and all that. But the subtext for, you know, people who are older viewers was that here's a single parent raising a child. What is that like? Yeah. So he is 63 today. Krista Miller, she was on the Drew Carey show and Scrooge.
I can't do this all. Also one of the stars of the show Shrinking on Apple TV+. She's tremendous on the show. Her husband is the producer, creator. Yeah, Bill Lawrence. He did Tatlasso and Shrinking and Scrubs. And so, yeah, they've been together for a long, long time. I love her character. I love it. She polishes rocks.
And if she gives you a rock, you are now in the inner circle. Yes. You know, so she's got her little quirk. She is 61 years old today. Actress Carrie Mulligan. She was in Collateral and Drive. She's 40 years old today. She's also in Gatsby, which I love, with Leonardo DiCaprio. She plays Daisy. Right. And some people pissed all over that movie, but I really dig it. Yeah, married to Marcus Mumford. Yeah. And she was in that, God, that, it was...
I always forget the goddamn title, but she's amazing. No, the one with the Keegan guy. We were just talking about him yesterday with his addiction issues. What movie? He drinks the bath water. Oh, salt burns.
Yeah. I believe she was in Sulphur. Yes, she was. We got there. We did it, guys. We're doing it. She is 40 today. Is this Colby Calais? Is that how you pronounce her last name? You got me singing like a child now. Oh, okay.
Yeah, that's called bubbly. Yeah, bubbly. Bubbly? Yeah. Does she also do lights? Can you count me in? I don't know. I do not know. I think she does lights, too. All right. She's 40 today. Then we have a couple of really, really great musicians. John Fogerty. Oh, yeah.
John Fogarty turns 80 years old today. Of course. Big birthday for him. Yeah. Great songwriter. Great songwriter. Great vocalist. Great vocalist. Yeah. He's just had a unique vocal style about him. That Creedence sound, his sound, just transcends everything. You just know it immediately. And he's got, you know what I always liked about him? Weird pronunciations of words. Yeah. In his vocals. I'm like, what is he saying there? For whatever reason, you know? Man up.
He just pronounces things a little bit differently. Bit of a difficult person from what I understood. He's a perfectionist. And that was an issue with the other band members. But listen, he was the guy. Yeah. 80 years old today. Ah, the great Gladys Knight turns a year older. Oh, come on, man. Hello. What a song. I wanted to be a Pip so bad. Oh.
I mean, come on.
I have that song on multiple playlists. She is 81 years old today. It's Kylie Minogue's birthday today. Kylie turns 57 years old. Oscar winner for Biodome. No, not Oscar winner. I saw her pop up in a show. I only watched one episode of it and I need to watch it again. I think it's a Shonda Rhimes show on Netflix. It's a detective show. Kylie Minogue. And she is in it. She's a performer at the White House. She's doing...
Singing and she's a part of a murder mystery that ends up happening. I think what you and I both believe one of the most amazing things we've ever seen. She did an ad for a British lingerie company where she was riding a mechanical bull. It is pretty amazing. You know what? I may have to go look that up in the next commercial. Pretty good. It's been a long time. Yeah, she's 57 years old today. Billy Vera. I bring up him in this moment. This was huge.
Family Ties. Family Ties. St. Kevin's Dances. It's what dances? I'm like, you guys say Family Ties, but this is like St. Kevin's Dances. This is like every Friday night. Oh, really? On a universal appeal, Family Ties outweighs St. Kevin's Dances. On a Casey appeal, it's just not. I'm aware. I know the Delco scale. Bill,
Billy Vera turns 81 years old today. It was Billy Vera and the Beaters. Yes. This is the name of the group. Didn't want to ask what that was about. And then the last birthday is Michael Orr, if you saw The Blind Side.
That story was about him. Yeah. Roughly based on him. Apparently he's... Eventually sued them. Backtracked on how that all played out. Yeah. So he turns 39 years old today. All right. Let's see. If somebody knows the answer to this question, what is the only New England state with no Atlantic coastline? And we are going to go to... Let's see. We're going to go to... I just picked up the wrong phone. Let me go to Nancy. Hi, Nancy. Good morning. Good morning.
Good morning, good morning. Hi, Nance. Do you know the answer? What is the only New England state with no Atlantic coastline, please? That would be Vermont. Vermont. Yeah. Good for Nancy. All right, Nance, hold on a moment.

Depending on how much weight you give to anonymous sources, they could eventually be gearing up to take things to the next level. Eventually, a source told the Daily Mail that everyone is just waiting for Travis to ask her parents for her hand in marriage. It will 100% happen, they said. I believe that. I believe it's going to happen soon. It's heading there. While an engagement is not imminent, it is expected to happen after Travis is done playing football with a conversation expected to be front and center after.
They better do it soon because Billy Vera has some open spots on his calendar now. He wanted to play the wedding. He's not getting any younger, you know, so. The couple, maybe they could book out, what was the name of the place, St. David's? St. Kevin's. Oh, St. Kevin's, I'm sorry. I'm sure it's available. Okay.
The couple apparently sees this as their last relationship, but Taylor said to be deeply impressed by how Travis treats both his and her parents, seeing it as a sign that he'll be a great family man. And did you see he apparently has a Chuck D'Amico-level hairy back? No.
I didn't know that. Wow. The source said she knows that it will be perfect because she has seen it firsthand. I wonder if they would dive right in and have kids and do that whole thing or not if they decided to get together. It's kind of poised that way. I mean, you know, she's a hardworking woman. So, yeah, we're looking at pictures. Travis Kelsey's back. Yep. He's got a hairy back. It's kind of patchy, hairy. Yeah. I don't know what's happening. But yeah, he's got some thick spots.
So, Deborah Lee Furness has officially filed a divorce from Hugh Jackman nearly two years after their separation announcement. The divorce is uncontested with both parties agreeing on terms including a handsome spousal support payment according to a source. The couple who share two adopted children, Oscar and Ava, reportedly had difficulty dividing their $250 million fortune. A separate source emphasized that.
They are amicable, and they are both fully committed to being the best parents they can be. Rumors of Jackman linking up with his music man co-star Sutton Foster surfaced around the time of his split from Furness. Foster has since filed for divorce from her husband, sources saying that she and Jackman are 100% together. Meanwhile, Furness has been rebuilding her life.
supported by friends, and taking a healing trip to Bhutan. Oh, that's where I'm going to go for my healing trip. I want to take a healing trip to Bhutan. So in this case, she seems to have been a little broadsided by his wanting to leave the marriage. Who knows? Do you think Hugh Jackman was...
Seeing this woman that he's with now from Broadway was fostering this while they were married? Probably. I think it's, yeah. Most likely, yeah. I think that can happen when relationships are starting to fizzle out and then you find someone else and you go, wow. You're doing eight shows a week together. Yeah, it's also that. Sometimes when things have been bad with me and Claire, I'll come in and I'll look at you, Casey, and I'll go, what is it?
Love the one you're with, right? Yeah. All right, here we go. I teased this earlier. Former Olympian Mary Lou Retton was arrested earlier this month for driving under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or drugs, according to online records. The 53-year-old almost famously won the all-around women's...
gymnastics title at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, was apprehended by police approximately two hours outside of Pittsburgh in Marion County, West Virginia on Saturday, May 17th, by the way. Retton, who is native of Fairmount in Marion County, was issued a personal recognizance bond of $1,500, which she posted online.
It comes as the latest knockback for the former gymnast who experienced a major health scare in October 2023. After falling seriously ill with a rare form of pneumonia, Retton was nearly put on life support when she was hospitalized, remaining in ICU for a number of weeks. Do you know that the new sobriety test includes you having to recite back dialogue from Nell? I'm sorry, I don't know how to talk. Yeah, Nell, Nell, I need to sleep.
I don't know if I could do that. It can be a little tricky. Yeah. Uh, at the time her daughter Kelly had said that she was fighting for her life. And once she finally recovered, Brett and said she had faced death in the eyes during her illness. Uh, while she was in the hospital, uh, Kelly started, uh, a fundraiser and helped cover medical costs, uh,
because she didn't have medical insurance. Yeah, which kind of blew everyone away. In the end, donations totaled almost half a million dollars altogether, but she got dinged for a DUI. I don't know how out of it she was or what the story was, but yeah. They made her walk a line and she ends up doing that. Yeah, backflips and all that stuff.
Wouldn't that be funny? He's like, you want me to do it on my hands? The man with two brains, when Steve Martin gets his roadside check, he's in, I don't know, Belgium or whatever, and he has to juggle on one foot and recite the alphabet backwards. This is really hard. Ethan Cohen's Honey Don't film closed out the Cannes Film Festival with a major buzz, but fans were quick to notice that Chris Evans was not there, and it turns out
The former Captain America skipped the glitzy premiere to celebrate his mom's 70th birthday. That's a good boy. He wrote in a short, sweet Instagram story saying, there are some things you just can't miss. And then he wrote, congrats, everyone. I'm here, mom. Who are you? Margaret Cronin.
Kweli stars in the film as a private eye, Honey O'Donohue, in the offbeat mystery, while Evans plays a smooth-talking, sinister minister, and Aubrey Plaza plays her on-again, off-again lover. Have you seen the trailer for this? No. Really moody. Margaret Kweli is kind of this sexy...
detective and a PI, I guess. And it's just oozing sort of noir charm. Our buddy Charlie Day's in it as well. And he was sharing some pictures on Instagram over the Memorial Day weekend from Cannes. And Aubrey Plaza was in pictures with him. And that's the first time I think I've seen her since her husband passed away. Oh, yeah, that's right. I was a little surprised to see her out and about. But, I mean, good for her for doing something. Yeah, she had been keeping a very low profile. Yeah.
So the film's con debut ended with a six-minute standing ovation, and Cohen called it a fun way to end the festival. Honeydew will hit U.S. theaters on August 22nd. To be honest, I would like to end our shows with a six-minute standing ovation. Okay. We can work on that. I think it would help. Yeah, psychologically. HBO's Harry Potter TV series has found the new Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Dominic
McLaughlin will play Harry. Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger and Alistair Stout will play Ron Weasley. The three kids beat out over 30,000 people who all responded to an open casting call. That's how they got, you know, initially...
The whole cast in the original was an open cast and called thousands of kids. It took forever for that first swing at it. And they're so indelibly printed in your mind, you know, that cast. But these kids look cute. They look like they're a nice fit for the characters. They are now set to appear in the new series that will cover all seven Harry Potter books over the next decade.
10 years. So they're going to forge the relationship that the actors have from the movie series. I mean, they're entering into a lifelong friendship here. And I'm curious as to whether or not that cast of the films...
Was lightning in a bottle or if they can do it again, you know? It's a tough call to get that. But a lot of times it's sort of the same thing. You have been very honest about it. You were hired at DRE because you had a lightning bolt on your forehead. Yeah, yeah. But I took the job. You took the job. Worked out all right. Yeah.
So they will join John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Papa Asido as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost is playing Rubus Hagrid. Which is a great choice. Yeah, filming is expected to begin on the series this summer. And another Harry Potter story, Miriam Margulies, known for playing Professor Sprout in the movie series, she's the one that we play, he fought it in my face. Uh-huh.
has revealed that she may not live many more years. He falsified my face. The actress shared the news that debilitating health issues have limited the kind of roles that she can play on the big screen in the last few years, having previously had heart surgery in 2023, as well as suffering from spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis. She said...
When you know that you haven't got long to live, and she said, and I'm probably going to die within the next five or six years, if not before, I'm loathe to leave behind performing. She said, it's such a joy. I yearn to play roles that don't confine me to wheelchairs, but I'm just not strong enough. That's sad to hear. How old is she? I don't know, Steve. I mean...
I would hope that she has more than five years. Yeah, but she just feels it winding down. You know what I mean? Like I'm talking to my dad about that type of thing. She's 84. Oh, okay. She presents younger. Yeah. I thought she was much younger. I know she's wrapping up Tokyo Drift 2. They're making a sequel to that? Yeah. Wow. Okay.
Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible Final Reckoning had the best hoping of any Mission Impossible movie in the franchise. The actor couldn't be happier about it. He was taken to social media and shared, quote, this weekend was one for the history books. Thank you to every filmmaker, every artist, every crew member, and every single person who works at the studios. You know why it's an extra achievement? The movie's two and a half hours. Yeah, he also said to every theater and every employee who helps bring these stories to the audience, he says thank you. But he didn't stop there. He let fans know
At the end of the day, he does it all for them. He said, most of all, thank you to audiences everywhere for whom we all serve and for whom we all love to entertain sincerely, Tom. Is there anybody working harder in Hollywood than Tom Cruise? I mean, to get the theaters up and running, to get the movie industry back up on its feet. Yeah, he's a PR machine for television.
watching in general. Do you remember that footage of Spielberg going over to him at a party? Spielberg, and they had had a little bit of a contention over the years. Spielberg goes over to him, this is after Maverick came out and says, you saved Hollywood. That's Spielberg saying that. There was a, you know, it surfaced not that long ago, the audio of Tom flipping out because people weren't following COVID restrictions. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And he was like, he was living. And the points he was making, he didn't know he was being recorded either. He was just like, he's like, do you know how many people? These are jobs we're talking about. He's like, this is, this, I will not stand for this. It was ridiculous.
pretty cool. Preston, actually, I saw an interview with Christopher McQuarrie. He's the director of the Mission Impossible movies and he was talking about that very incident. It was the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast and he was like, first of all, that's two minutes of context where Tom was super passionate about it. Second of all, there was like
six or seven people in the room total. And two of the people were Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie. And third of all, he was just passionate about wanting to make sure that everybody was okay, that everybody was safe. So like the anger portion of it was taken way out of context. And Christopher McQuarrie did a really good job at defending Tom Cruise and his passion for making movies. Yeah, he was dressing people down pretty damn hard. But it was like, look, if we don't
follow these rules, we gotta stop making these movies. Multi-million dollar projects. So the movie opened to 63 million over the three-day weekend, 77 million over the four-day holiday weekend, beating out 2018's Mission Impossible Fallout, which opened with 61 million. So, nice job.
Kelly Ripa, living her best life. At least clothed life as an empty nester, and she's not shy about why. She was on Live with Kelly and Mark earlier this week, and she was chatting with guest Amanda Peet, and she talked about with all three kids out of the house, she and hubby Mark Consuelos have turned their home into what she said was a total freak show of nudity and romance.
With no more accidental walk-ins from their now-grown children, the couple who've been married since 1996 are enjoying their freedom in full spicy style. Goddamn, I bet they're getting it on all the time, Preston. Reed, you miss hearing about it, I'm sure. I'd love to sit in that bedroom. And with... I'd bring some Funyuns and a camcorder. With daughter Lola just shy of 24, Kelly joked that they might consider slowing down a bit. But hey, man, they're both super good looking. They're both in great shape. Yeah. Go for it. Why not? Yep.
That's what I say. Right, Rage? Yeah. Yeah, baby. So, Sinners, the movie will be knocking on your door soon with its digital release June 3rd. That's when it will be coming out with 4K Blu-ray and DVD dropping five days later. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Me too. Yeah. It's gotten such good response. And it looks like it's...
It's like a deep film. It's not just a throwaway horror jump scare thing. No, they say the first part of the movie plays like a sort of crime. These two brothers, twins, fighting...
bootlegging and all that stuff. It's cool. And then it goes into this from dust till dawn vibe. Nice. Which sounds pretty cool as well. Michael B. Jordan is in a dual role as twin brothers. He had 1932 Mississippi faces off against supernatural evil. It's captivated audience globally boosting 97% Rotten Tomatoes score. It's the only horror film ever to snag an A cinema score.
With a $48 million opening and over $338 million more wide so far, it's one of the biggest box office wins since Jordan Peele's Us film. And it's directed by Ryan Coogler. And, of course, he got a great deal on getting all the money from that. Did you see Us?
I did not. And I need to. So I've seen Nope and I saw what was the first one? Get Out. But I've not seen Us yet. I need to see that. So it has so much that's good in it. You watch it and you tell me. We'll talk. We'll chat. Two more quick things. Ryan Reynolds is trading soccer wins for the wide world of nature's losers in a
called Underdogs. It's from Nat Geo, and it flips the script on wildlife documentaries. It's narrated and executive produced by Reynolds. The five-episode show highlights creatures with bizarre mating strategies, surprising superpowers, deception, dubious parenting skills, and gross-out behaviors. The Deadpool actor called the series a dream come true. He said, "...mostly because I can finally watch a project of ours with my children."
And if that wasn't cool enough, he got Green Day to make the show's theme song. Underdogs will premiere June 15th on Nat Geo and ABC and then streams the next day on Disney Plus and Hulu. It looks pretty cool. It takes these weird, quirky animals with their very strange attributes and highlights them. So it's a little twist. I like it. I spend a lot of time, if I'm going to jump on and just kind of surf, I'll head over to Nat Geo a lot. Yeah, it's a good spot. Good spot, yeah. All right, and then one last thing.
The pink shorts that Jennifer Grey famously wore in the dance rehearsal scenes in Dirty Dancing are now up for auction. Isn't that cool? You can bet on it, yes. And she sharted her autograph into them. Oh my goodness. You can actually see her name? Wow. So, Prop Store, a global entertainment memorabilia auctioneer, is hosting the auction online. Jennifer's pink nylon Capizio briefs.
Our size, medium, 12 to 14. So... Not that anybody would be looking to put them in a regular rotation. But... What happened with the sister? She didn't... Did she go on to do much? I never saw her in much of anything else. Don't think so, Steve. Yeah. It was kind of her moment in the sun. Yeah.
The auction is live now. The bidding ends on June 11th. If you want to check that out. Nick's going to look that up now because I'm curious too. So she played her sister. That was her singing. Is that Jean Brooker? It looks like her. Yeah, Lisa Hausman. Yeah. So let's see what she's been up to, Steve. In this headshot, she looks nice. Last project was in 2010. She did something called Bright Day. I don't know what that is.
So she likes to work every 15 years. Not really seeing anything of any note. Okay. I think it kind of fizzled out on herself. Stealing Home. Nick, go to that one. Wasn't there a movie filmed around here called Stealing Home? Yes, there was. With Mark Harmon? Yeah, this is it. Yeah, you're right, Case. It was? Yeah, it's Jodie Foster's in it.
Oh, Kong Kong, everyone. Yes. Sorry, I'm dancing. We should go down the hallway, President Kong. Yeah. Yeah. This is... So the scene where the entire dance group gets up and they're all doing a choreographed move. Yeah. We should do that. I love that. So do I. I absolutely love that. I can't dance to save my ass, but I love it.
All right, here we go. Just don't be surprised if you're at some live broadcast of ours. Maybe it's the Camp Out for Hunger and this song comes on. Oh, yeah. Next thing you know. We'll drop. We all just start dancing. All right, let's get to the clips, if you will, please, sir. F1, the Academy.
Is a Formula 4 racing series for women. It says Formula 4 racing series for women. Founded by Formula 1 to develop and support female drivers. In this clip, Chloe Grant...
Talks about how F1 Academy needs to be separated, but it's not because of the competitiveness. Here we go. No, it shouldn't be separate. I think we should keep it to only F1 Academy that is separate. We shouldn't normalize it and have other championships do this personally. Some say it's because we need to be separated because of physicality, which is completely nonsense. It's not true whatsoever. Translation, boring. I love that Scottish accent. F1 Academy premieres today on Netflix. Here's our next clip.
The new series, Adults, follows a group of friends in their 20s navigating through life in New York. And in this clip, Amita Rao and Lucy Fryer mention how the station got the cast involved.
to be such close friends. FX did this thing where like similar to the bear, how they like paid for them to go to culinary school to prepare for the role. They paid for us to go party in Toronto. And yeah, we just like spent every single night together. Yeah, on one of the first nights, Amita said that we all had to go around and tell each other a secret that we'd never told anyone.
The premiere of Adults comes out today. You'll find that on FX, by the way. All right, and there you go. That's your entertainment report for this morning. If you're just joining us, good day, friend. It's a Wednesday. It's kind of a crappy day. We're going to get rain. It's not really coming down in Ballackinwood, but it might be in your area because we have these scattered showers. They're going to kind of be kicking about all day long and a little bit cooler temps, so just a heads up on that. We had to do a make good. We chose a school that doesn't exist anymore for coolest teachers. Yes.
Was it Northeast Prep? We found out it's like break of noon, Preston, that it comes back every seven years and then disappears. Oh, and that's the only time? Yeah, when the off time. So, no, we had to dive back in and we chose Haddon Township High School in Westmont, New Jersey. So it's up to you guys to text the word teacher to 610-6609-333. We'll send you the voting link and then you can vote for your teacher. We had Alicia Shealy from Henderson High School call in a little while ago, math teacher. She said it was the best gift ever. Interesting.
She sounds like she's really cool. Yep. You know, it's very legit. So let's find out who is next. We have a few guests on the program. We'll take a break. We'll come back in a second. We'll spell it all out for you. Just stay with us on this Wednesday morning. We'd love to hang out together. We'll be right back.
WMMR presents the 20th annual I Bleed for Preston and Steve Blood Drive. Thursday, June 12th and Friday, June 13th. That's right. Two days of blood-giving goodness this year. First up, we'll be at Live Casino and Hotel Philadelphia inside the Events Center. The next day, donations shift to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.
We'll be right back.
The 20th annual I Bleed for Preston and Steve Blood Drive. Benefiting the American Red Cross. From 93.3 WMMR. Putting Philly first.
Now, back with more of the Preston and Steve Show podcast. All right. Thank you very much, Marissa. Real quick, before we dive into anything, I do have a short I want to do. It says, hey, guys, my wife, Krista, diehard fan, like incredibly diehard. She listens to your show every morning. You're podcasted as always on during the evening slash weekend drives. We spend a lot of time in Italy.
where she wouldn't go a single day without listening to your broadcast from abroad. And I asked her what she wanted for her birthday last year, and she said, all I want is a shout-out. And he said, well, I kind of thought she was joking, so I didn't reach out to your show. And then I asked her what she wanted this year, and she said, again, Steve, seriously, all I want is a shout-out from the Preston and Steve show. And I was hoping you could give Krista a Tom Jones shout-out. Yeah.
for last year and this year to help her kick off her fantastic 42nd birthday and to help make up for my big blunder last year. Thanks for your consideration, providing so much joy to my wife going all the way back to the WDRE days, and that is from Stephen Ferrari, by the way. So hit it, boys! All right! Yeah!
There we go, Krista. Hope you didn't get too much on yet, but happy birthday. It's chunky. I have noticed some things. It's time for the Noticer, yes. It was an extended weekend that gave the Noticer much more time to notice.
Do you see my face? I'm noticing very hard right now. Across an empty field, down an alleyway, wherever, whenever you need noticing, he's there having a full-blown amour.
All right, so I did notice this, and I mentioned this before, but it starts, I believe, today. For more than 50 years, Southwest Airlines had bags fly free policy. That's all changing. Oh, no. They announced it from now on, and I have the costs associated with it, so it starts today from what I understand. So let me understand this. For the longest time, you could put luggage on a flight and send it all over the country. Yeah, without you being on the flight or anything. It was free. Just send your luggage wherever you want. Bags fly free. All right.
Goodbye, nightbag. I hate goodbyes. I hate this. Sammy. I call him Sammy, but his real name is Samsonite.
By the way, what are other luggage brand names? That's the only one that comes to mind. That's the only one that I would know. You know, and you and I are fans of that travel expert, Samantha Brown. So I have all her luggage. But I don't know the name of it. Swiss Army Knife, they have... They do. Yep. And
And I'm sure there are, I'm sure there's a, like a Bentley. Exactly. Of luggage out there. You guys ever seen the movie? You have. Joe versus the volcano. Yes. And he's like, I'm going on a trip and he goes to this high end store. Right. And this guy does this fantastic.
full presentation of these steamer trunks. And, you know, it's just going to change your life and all that. Now, I don't know. You know, I imagine there's insanely high end luggage you can pay for. Whether you go hard shell or whether you go, you know, a more fabric approach. I'm thinking about the hard shell. Rochelle has bought like one or two of those hard shell cases.
and I kind of like them a little bit better. Well, you know what? It's a little incorrect to say a lot of people receive, oh, it's a rigid hard shell. They're still flexible. They're just firmer. So there's a high-end brand called Rimowa, R-I-M-O-W-A. I've never heard of it before, but when I looked up highest-end luxury brand luggage, this is the one that came up, and see if you can buy a hard shell suitcase, rolling suitcase called the Cabin,
For $1,500. Wow. $1,525. I bet you. So all the new ones come with Preston USB ports, charging stations built into them. There are some that will walk along with you like those high-end golf bags you were talking about. Right, right. I just need to make sure that the wheels stay on. You know, that's all. Yeah, that's always a nice added feature. So yeah, this one called the Cabin, $1,525. And it looks like you're just your standard...
put in the overhead bin size. Wow. That's a TJ Maxx purchase for me. TJ Maxx or HomeGoods, that's where I'll get my luggage in. I'll try to keep it for at least a decade. Do you guys have matching? I don't. We have one set of matching. We finally recently, we were collecting
for a few years and just not that long. I'm like, let's get rid of some of this stuff. So we finally did. But I was thinking about doing the hard shell. Well, anyhow, if you're flying on Southwest, they've announced that from now on, the first checked bag will cost $35 and the second will be $45. And there are weight and size limits, of course. So it still makes them, on average, cheaper than other airlines, right? I think others start at like $55. I...
I want to say American is like in the $30 range. Is it? I always thought they were, but I try to carry on now. I check everything. I thought it was like $35, something like that. But I may be wrong. There are some exceptions. With business select, excuse me, slash choice extra and A-list preferred customers getting two free check bags.
an A-list and Chase Rapid Reward credit card members getting one free check back. The new fee only applies to Southwest flights that are booked today and after. So the tickets purchased before today, the customer still gets two free checked bags. But after that, no more. You knew that couldn't last.
All right, for domestic American Airlines flights, $35 for a single bag and $40. If purchased online, $40 if purchased at the airport. So the same. I guess maybe what I was looking at was the weight difference if something weighs more. Maybe.
So if you're flying Southwest, there you go. That's a new one for you. When you can fly Southwest, do you fly Southwest? No, I go... I mean, I have rewards on both of them, but I usually choose American first because there are more flights out of Philadelphia, and that's usually I'm going to get the most. And for me, it's just convenient time is the most important thing. And you can sing the Lee Greenwood song, we are proud to be on American. But I do like flying Southwest. They've...
the staff has a nice sense of humor and they are a little more loosely and I don't mind the kind of cattle call, find your own seat thing. That doesn't bother me. When does that end or is that still in effect? That's coming to a close. But that is coming to a close. Now listen, I'm going to piggyback this. I noticed another story. It's just piggybacking. Holy crap! I know you guys wouldn't do this but maybe if it was a short enough flight but listen to these prices. So
From 2026, a handful of Europe's low-cost airlines plan to swap out some economy seats for what is called Skyrider 2.0, which is a half-standing saddle-style perch that promises rock-bottom ticket prices. Explain what the half-standing saddle... Are you literally sitting on something akin to a saddle? You're kind of... Yes, and there's a...
on this thing as well, but you're stacked up like there's another one right in front of you. There's very little room, but you stand up. It says, imagine balancing on a padded bicycle saddle, only this one is strapped to the cabin floor and ceiling, and you're cruising at 35,000 feet. For how long? Here's the deal. These would be for short flights, Casey. We're talking about an hour, maybe less than that. In Europe...
They're quick jaunts that you can take. But here's the deal. This, to fly, say, for like an hour, maybe less...
10 bucks. Dude, I've stood on Amtrak for longer, you know, on a longer train ride. I could do that. Yeah. My son's going to college in the fall and he's going to Northeastern, which is up in Boston, but he's actually starting his collegiate career in Dublin, Ireland. He's on the international program, which is really cool. I'm super proud of him. But we've been talking about this, Preston, because you can fly from Paris, from Dublin to Paris,
for 46 bucks. And that's not even including like these standing room things that you're talking about. And it's, it's an hour and a half flight. I mean, you can take ferry from, um, from Dublin to, uh, Liverpool. Like there are so many options and it's so close that why not? And especially if you're a student, you know, when you're looking to pinch pennies or whatever, you're going to spend $10 to get from Dublin to Paris. Why the F not? So it's like flying to Boston or Pittsburgh or something like that for us. And would you pay 10 bucks? Hell yeah.
Yes, I would. So here's the deal. And the reason it can be so cheap is part of it is these things are so light. They're half the weight of a regular seat. And that cuts down on fuel consumption. Yeah. So they can pass long savings in that as well. So, yeah, it says by shaving off a bulk and off bulk and tightening up the space between rows.
Airlines figured that they can cram in up to 20% more passengers on hops lasting two hours or less. And if they fold the flaps up on the side, it instantly becomes a coffin. So, yeah, during crashes, you'll be set. So, bigger cabins, there's more bodies per flight, meaning fatter profit margins for the airlines, quicker turnarounds. You get lighter seats, fewer parts, less cleaning, so planes spend more time in the air. So, you're kind of in a quasi-standing... Yeah. Yeah.
But you're kind of leaning back. You're leaning back. Almost as if you were sitting on a bar stool. The weight is on your legs, it says. And quick runs, it says, say, Madrid to Lisbon or Manchester to Edinburgh. Would you do from here to Australia like that? Of course I would. These lean-in perches could carve out a niche. Airlines get to splash headlines with $10 flights. And penny pinchers get their fix of adventure. And yeah, you get to go.
So I think it's a pretty good idea. Why not offer it? Yeah, sure. We'll see if it ever makes its way. If they start to see profit with this overseas, you guarantee they'll have them here. So when they come around for meal service, will they just scoop it into your hands? That's what they do. You just hold your hand? Yeah. You want the rice? Yeah. Trust me, you're not going to want the gravy with that. All right. I thought you guys might find that interesting. Yeah, that is interesting. All right. I noticed another thing in the world of grammar.
A form of punctuation appears to be on the verge of biting the dust. Anybody want to guess what punctuation is? Hardly used anymore at all. Like a colon or semicolon? Semicolon, Casey. Yay! Woo! Woo!
I use it all the time. I do too. It's one of my favorites. Yeah. I don't even, I don't know what that would be. Sometimes I'll just write things so I can use a semicolon. Yeah, when is the proper time to use a semicolon? If there's two separate phrases within a sentence that aren't joined by a comma or the word and, a semicolon is appropriate. So Preston and Casey are going to the Flyers game later tonight. Semicolon, Steve hasn't been to a Flyers game in five years. Yeah, okay.
You donked it. Yeah, that to me is a dot, dot, dot. Or a dash. Or I don't give an F. Well, a dot, dot, dot sometimes is just a pause. You know, like a mental pause or a pause for effect. Or something's been eliminated in a quote.
Oh, really? Yeah. Like redacted? Or just if you're quoting the police commissioner in a news report and he goes on and on and then you eliminate a sentence or two, like in the middle of that quote, you can put dot, dot, dot to eliminate something that he said while maintaining the accuracy of said quote. So a new study has found that the semicolon is dying a slow, certain death back in the 19th century literature.
You can find a good old reliable semicolon once every 205 words. Yeah, those were the days, right? Quite a bit. You remember those days. Today, it can be found once in every 390 words.
Everyone loves the semicolon. It's the punctuation mark that's sweeping the nation. Goodbye, exclamation point. In fact, these days you might even be hard-pressed to find someone who actually knows what a semicolon is used for and if it's being used properly. You know what they're bringing in now? The semi-period. Yeah.
It's just a whole different thing. Wow. I wonder what that would even look like. Probably red. Yeah, I guess so. So, yeah, if you use it now, you continue to use it. They're not going to like, you know, eliminate it. Could you face legal charges? Yeah, I don't know. Would it be possible to eliminate a punctuation? You know what I mean? Like make a not a rule, but.
It's happened. You're right. It has happened. Things like the double space after a... These are just general rules that you follow. How do you enforce it? After a period, have kind of crawled to a...
null zone. You're actually bringing up something that I was just talking about this very thing. I think social media and the pursuit of 140 characters has condensed because you're right. After a period, it would be two spaces. Now it's very common to just trim that down to one. I just automatically space, space. I just hit it. We were born in the time of the semicolon. I was trained to do that. Again! Do it again! Do it again! Do it again!
Everyone loves double spaces after a period. Ah, but have you heard about the semicolon? Flappers love it, the elites love it, everyone loves a semicolon. There was a time where semicolons were very popular and no longer. All right, so just thought that was interesting. And now a song from the aristocrats. All right, I did notice another thing.
So there's a TikTok trend. I don't know if you guys have seen this or not, but it encourages men to call up their friends before bed and tell them goodnight. Yeah.
So the interesting thing about this is, you know, the majority of the videos are filmed by a wife, fiance or girlfriend. And the interesting thing about them is it's it's a joke. Yeah. You call up your butt. Hey, man, how you doing? Hey, well, I'm going to bed. I just want to say good night. Yeah. And then they react, you know, in a funny way. Do what are you talking about? But what they're finding out as this is going on is.
is that these guys are appreciating the phone call and that it's just kind of nice to hear that. It's not going to lead to a trend of this happening, but it's kind of opening up the conversation about, you know, friendship and checking on people. Being more vulnerable. And being more vulnerable. Yeah. But also checking on people and just like, everything good? Are you dead? All right, good night. You dead? Yeah.
Yeah, I could see that. I mean, obviously, what time do you go to bed? What time are you actually asleep? 9.15 at the latest. I head up to bed around 8.30 or so. I just start drinking. Well, good for you. So the act...
Calling up a friend to check in this article that says to check in as a man isn't part of socialized norms. Ronald Levant, the emeritus psychology professor at the University of Akron, he said it goes against masculine ideals taught to boys in grade school. He wrote a book called The Tough Standard, The Hard Truths About Masculinity and Violence.
He said, I do think that we give up a lot of comfort and health actually in not being more connected with people. While the trend may be seen as a joke to many, it can also serve as a reminder to men about the importance of reevaluating ideals that may not be best serving them. LeVant encouraged men to take this time to think about masculine ideologies that they were taught at a young age and be open to expressing themselves.
like he said, Steve. Yeah, see? I'm good at this. More genuinely. And I've talked about this before, you know, that now saying I love you to my... Strangers. My men, my best buddies has become normal. Makes you feel good, doesn't it? Love you, bud. Yeah. Hey, man, I'll talk to you soon. Because you do. And you do. Yeah. And I think it's cool to say that. You just have... It's almost like...
That first time you say it to, you know, someone that you're interested in and you're taking a chance by not hearing it back. And even if it's your buddy that you've known for 30, 40, whatever years, if you've never said it before, it can be like a little bit weird. But I said this before, you know who broke the ice? Dr.
I think Jackie Bam Bam. Oh, Jackie Bam Bam. Yeah. Well, I mean, Dr. Mike definitely is a love you guy for sure. But Jackie Bam Bam one time left a message for Casey. And he's like, listen to this. He's like, okay, man, you know, I just want to blah, blah, blah, say this. All right. I love you, man. Yeah. And we were like, we both got a kick out of it. And now. And now you do it. Yeah, absolutely. On average, how long do you wait to say I love you to a paid escort? Yeah.
Immediately. Because I know it's going to be accepted and returned. And you'll remember this. The show The Waltons would always end with the entire family saying goodnight to everyone. And the country as a whole responded to that segment on the series as a wonderful thing. And it was typical as kind of a joke to say goodnight John Boy. Yes. To anybody and everybody. Goodnight John Boy. Yeah, goodnight John Boy.
All right, so try it out. Try it out. All right, here's another thing. I noticed this via Steve Morrison. Oh, what did I do? So Steve sent me an article on weed delivery at the Jersey Shore. Yes, I was curious if you were aware of this. I was not. And...
My favorite place to go is in Cape May, and it is mentioned in this article, and they deliver, and I am very happy because sometimes...
Getting in and out of Cape May is a pain in the ass. That's what I hear. Traffic is... I haven't been in a long time. It can get congested on the weekend, so I love the idea of that. I saw new places just outside of Avalon on Route 9. Oh, okay. Yeah. So if you... Sometimes you'll go down 55, 47, all that. If you get on the 83, that pops you onto Route 9, and then you end up getting on the Garden State Parkway right there. So hit it on the way home. Right there. Or on the way to the house. But...
This would be great. Cause, uh, I already know the products they have at this place. Anyhow. So Atlantic city, by the way, and I did not know this until I saw this article now has more dispensaries than casinos. Atlantic city does and is preparing to debut some of the state's first licensed cannabis lounges. We've mentioned that, uh,
And public consumption and use in rental properties is still prohibited at this point. Is it still illegal to have a billboard in New Jersey advertising a weed shop? I saw one. Are you sure? Nick, I'm almost positive. Because you might have seen one on the bridge on the way over. That's where I saw one. But, Steve, I don't think you're allowed to. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you did. No, no, no. The reason why I say this is I told you guys I went to this wolf preserver. Preserver.
And that was fairly deep into Jersey. And I remember pointing to Claire and saying, look at that. Nick, I thought I saw one too. Okay. In New Jersey. Yeah, because it used to be the weed shops were legal, but the billboards were not. So in Pennsylvania, where the weed shops weren't legal, you could advertise for shops in New Jersey. But maybe that's an outdated thing. So here's the deal. Even though nearly 70% of New Jersey's 564 municipalities have opted out of
of cannabis businesses. Delivery services are still allowed to operate in those areas, according to the state Cannabis Regulatory Commission. Forgive my ignorance here. Are there services that will pick up a six-pack for you and deliver them? Can alcohol be delivered the same way? I don't know if you can use like DoorDash and Instacart or those things for...
Booze delivery. I don't know. I've never done it. It was funny, Steve, because during the pandemic in 2020, all of those rules were relaxed. Right, right, yeah. In order to do anything to support those businesses. Curbside. Right, yeah. I remember stateside vodka was like, yep, we'll deliver whatever you need. Yeah. And then I don't know if those rules relapsed back into pre-COVID times. I have no idea. Yeah, likewise. By the way, a follow-up here, Nick. Our friend Heather, who texted in, and she's like a marijuana expert, said that it is still illegal to advertise drugs.
Okay. Establishments in New Jersey. So I don't know. Maybe it was something...
Pot adjacent. CBD. What is it? CBD. CBD. Yeah, maybe. All right. So anyhow, dispensaries that deliver to South Jersey shore towns include, but are not limited to, according to this article, which I think was from the Enquirer, Steve, you sent me. So Shorehouse Canada. That's the place I go to in Cape May. Great little spot. Are you like Norm when you walk in? No, no, no. I don't go in that often. But they're really nice. It's a really cool place. And it's right across the street from the Cape May Honey. There you go. Oh, goddamn. This is the...
Listen, my two favorite honeys in the world are provided. One is provided by Joe Casey from Xfinity, who's amazing. And this Cape May honey that you got. And what I really liked about it, Preston, is that it had sort of a granular thing.
thing going on they have a bunch of different kinds yeah all right so shore house canna delivers from cape may up to ocean city and you go to shorehousecanna.com uh high rollers dispensary covers uh from brigantine and atlantic city to ocean city wait a second it's a high roller it works both ways high rollers dispensary.com and then uh sunny tn t-i-e-n uh they serve atlantic city to seal city
And their website is SunnyTM.com. So ordering cannabis online isn't much different from ordering takeout. You visit a dispensary website. You browse products. Choose between pickup or delivery. Unlike pizza delivery, weed orders don't show up in 30 minutes or less. Customers typically schedule a window for delivery from an hour to a few hours later. So it's like... Yeah, just put it through the window. Yeah. Yeah. But...
I mean, they do need... You know where my bedroom is? Just put it through the window. They need to check your identification, I assume, right? I would think so. And maybe there's something you fill out...
ahead of time, and then they'll check your ID. It's just a document that says, yeah, it's me. Oh, you need to fill this out. See the part where it says, yeah, it's me. Just check that. But this is cool, too. Most dispensaries don't charge a delivery fee, but you need to plan ahead. So how, on average...
How often do I go by? How expensive is it? It depends on what you're getting. There's a variety of prices. Topping out at what would be the most expensive? $80 or something like that probably. In that range, I don't know. I go and I buy a bunch at a time that I don't go for a few more months. You buy in bulk. Pretty much so. Here you go, Casey. Tips for delivery.
Have payment ID ready. Payment and ID ready. Customers must present an ID, maybe cash or digital app if not prepaid. Only the person who placed the order can accept the delivery. Remove your DEA windbreaker. Order to a residential property. It says cannabis products can only be delivered to a permanent or temporary residence, which includes rental properties, Airbnbs and hotels.
We cannot be delivered to businesses like bars or restaurants or public spaces like the boardwalk, beach, and parks. That makes sense. And it says here, buy in bulk. Many dispensaries waive delivery fees for larger orders as well.
And also they recommend that you keep an eye out for possible scams. You should always go directly to a known location's website. You shouldn't see an ad and click on that. Do most of these places sell food or brownies? Edibles, but not food. Okay, because I know in Amsterdam that was always a thing. You go to...
Yeah, like cookies, brownies, things like that made with THC butter or something like that. That's not the case domestically. Not that I've seen. Hey, does GoPuff deliver alcohol? I was wondering about that case because their whole thing was kind of like... Marissa says thumbs up. Okay. Definitely beer. I'm not sure about liquor, but that's in Pennsylvania. Right. Remember, they weren't created hoping that this weed delivery thing would take off, but I think it's...
State to state, they're having some problems. They keep trying for it here. Hang on a second. One more. I'm going to go to a call and we'll switch to another story of Janet who's checking in. Janet, good morning. Oh, nope. That's my fault. Don't have you on. Hi, Janet. You're now on the air. Go ahead. I am so happy to talk to you guys. I listen to you every day. Oh, thank you so much. By your dispensary that you like across from Cape May Honey is Sunset Liquors. They deliver. Oh, really? Yeah.
How far out will they deliver? I'm not sure how far out. They may go to Wildwood, but I have a house in West Cape May, and it's very handy when you're drinking and you don't feel like going. So you're saying you can get your honey, your gange, your booze. If you can find a brothel that delivers, Preston, you'll have everything. I'll never leave that house. That godfather pizza is right across the street. You just ask for a good-looking delivery guy. All right, Janet, thank you very much. Appreciate it.
Thank you. All right, we'll see you. By the way, text New Jersey police officer here. It is illegal to advertise marijuana in New Jersey, but you definitely did see a billboard in New Jersey. They are up illegally for a small independent smoke shop in Trenton. Okay, maybe that's... So they're doing it illegally. That's what I might have seen then. All right. Can I mention one more thing? Uh...
The notice is asking if he can mention something. This is, well, yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's a real quick mention. Mike from the Game is a Foot Arcade in Warrington reached out to me. They're the guys who set me up with the video game console. They're amazing. For my birthday years ago. They're celebrating their 10th anniversary and I wanted to pass this along because they're big fans and they support us and they're open on Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays and Mondays and so they've got
all the games you want. Pinball included. And they're doing free hour Fridays. They'll give every player a free hour of gameplay for every hour purchased. So you can buy unlimited games and stuff like that for a certain amount of time. Sundays are their competition days to celebrate the anniversary. You can get the day's high score on Retro Game of the Day and the high score will receive prizes.
The 10th anniversary party is going to be Sunday, June 22nd from 5 to 8 p.m. So it's the Game is a Foot Arcade in Warrington. And it's their 10th anniversary, which is cool, man. That is cool because I remember when they, I think they first opened up and was that when you got the unit, right? Yeah, I think it was. Right at the opening. Yeah.
I think it was right at the beginning. It might have been 10 years ago. You love that frigging thing. Oh, it's wonderful. So I want to give Mike some love and thank those guys for being big fans and support and everything. But go by and see him. The game is afoot. Arcade in Warrington. All right. We do need to. That's all I'm done noticing. Notice has got to go. God damn it.
All right. God damn it. We're going to take a quick break. We'll come back in a second. Yes, we will go on Fox Good Day and we'll get your bizarre files. So stay with us. Now, back with more of the Preston and Steve Show podcast. Give me World 93.3 WM The More in the middle. We got about 10 seconds and we will hear some music.
From our friends at Fox 29. And we will do a little segment with Mike and Alex and check in with those guys and see how things are. And then we'll get your traffic and all the other stuff. So any moment now, we'll hear a little swell of music. That means it's TV time, people. Look at that, Steve. Oh, yes. Print and ready to go. I just got my hair cut, so I'm feeling pretty solid about this. Yeah, you look good. You look styling. Marissa, I have this on and up. This is where this comes up, right? And don't hear anything yet. Marissa is checking on something here.
Was it configured for Kenans? I don't know. What's that? Okay. We don't have a connection. Marissa is talking to their producer, so we're going to have to... We're bailing! Steve might be right. It may have been configured for the Kenans live broadcast and not switched over. We used some of these components. Now I hear...
Someone walking around in the background. Components are failing presence. Oh, hi. Hey, guys. Boom. We were saying that, you know what? The connection is always strong with us. Yeah. Emotionally. Yes. Always. The bond is there. All right. Here's the question I was going to ask you and the whole crew.
And we'll go through each of you. Preston, we'll start with you. When the plane, when your plane lands and that you hear the ding, which means you can get up. Do you get up?
It depends on where I'm sitting. If I'm in an aisle seat and near the front part of the plane, yes, I will do that. But I usually sit window. So almost always I just kind of hang out because it's going to be a little while. And why just kind of and the roof is right up here and I'm tall and I end up hunched over. So I just hang out in the seat for a little while.
That's exactly the way I handle it. Steve, what about you? Yeah, same. Though for the longest time when I was doing stand-up for the longest time, the little thing I'd do when the plane would start to stop, I'd go, and that is the sound. Oh, my God. And you'd see people start to get up. That was in my more loose cannon phase. But I agree. You're not going anywhere unless you're front row first class. Sit the hell down and wait.
Exactly. Which is Mike. Mike is front row first class. He's in the cockpit. Yeah, please. But I will ask the person next to me in the window, do you need to get something? Let me get it for you. Yes.
No, I wait till the last minute to get up, but I'm in no rush. Like, I'm in no rush to get on the plane. I'm in no rush to get off the plane. So I just wait, and then when it's my turn to stand up, that's when I stand up and I get going. You can't go anywhere, right? You're locked. You're locked in a place. Right. Well, the time I do feel bad is when they make an announcement like, please, guys, if everyone can stay seated because there's some people of a connecting flight that they have to make, so let them go by. And they never
And it's always awkward. That's when you see humanity at its best, when people have been told, by the way, we have a human lung in a cooler. We need to get to Oahu. Please let it... No, no, no. I'm visiting my uncle. I paid for this seat. If I'm sitting in a window seat, I don't even...
bother moving until the people to my right have gotten out. I'm not even going to go anywhere until they've even stood up because there's just no room. You're going to bonk your head on the ceiling. You might as well just wait until the very last second and then trudge out with the rest of the cattle. There was a moment, I'm sorry to jump in here, that I loved. I was on a flight and the plane was still taxiing. A woman gets out of her seat and she starts walking towards the front of the plane. The
The pilot stopped the aircraft and made an announcement. He's like, ma'am, go sit down. We're not going anywhere until you have a seat. And we all just, it was great. We loved it. Ma'am, sit down. I'll beat your ass. Was she embarrassed? She looked mad. She was angry. And she looked like the type that sometimes doesn't like being told what to do. I know that type. So I think there's consensus here. We know those types. That's me. Diva.
Kids, we have to fly because it's 8 o'clock. We love you guys. We're not standing up too soon, though. No, please don't. The reason we brought that up, the country of Turkey is now fining you for jumping up out of your seat. Yeah, I'm okay with that. Yeah.
Thanks, guys. We'll see you next week. All right. Our friends at Fox 29 this morning. All right. We skipped traffic, so we're going to dive into that. Do I have my music? Yes, I do. Do we have Marissa? Yes, we do. All right, Marissa, what's going on? All right. We are jammed on the Ben Franklin Bridge that is westbound from the mid-span out to 5th Street.

With an extensive history of methamphetamine-related arrests, was fatally shot by deputies Monday in Lakeland after a chaotic series of events that Sheriff Grady Judd described as a bizarre and drug-fueled rampage. Timothy Schultz, 42 years old, allegedly swam across the lake...
Right.
or hot, or something, Judd relayed from the witness account. One witness reportedly attempted to offer Timothy a life preserver while he was in the lake, which he refused. Another witness said the man growled at them. Jeez. Deputies arrived. It's gotta be drugs. Yeah, deputies arrived.
Uh, deputies arrived as Timothy was emerging from the lake and attempted to break into a truck with a brick, having armed himself with a set of garden shears apparently left in a nearby yard. He immediately charged the deputies holding the shears. This
The situation escalated further when Timothy climbed into the passenger side of a running patrol vehicle. The officer said as he jumped into the seat, he was trying to either get the rifle or the shotgun out of his holder. At that moment in time, all warnings had to stop and the action had to begin. And that's when they shot him enough to stop the threat. He was pronounced deceased. The sheriff, Judd,
highlighted the suspect's lengthy criminal record. He said his record is long. It's meth arrest, meth arrest, meth arrest, meth arrest, meth arrest. And guess what? On April of this year, he was arrested for what? Meth. And then he said the shocking detail was that he had appeared to have been attacked by an alligator while swimming across the lake, which he described as a long swim from Highway 37. He said it appears that
that his right arm was bitten by an alligator. So apparently he was attacked by a gator while in the lake as well. The fact that he was bit by an alligator significantly and still continued his rampage is shocking. I'm an alligator, bit my hand. Oh my God. If you're on enough meth, then the person you see is not the person that's attacking. Wow. And a lot of times they're imbued with sort of superhuman capabilities. Yeah. So like being bitten by an alligator and continuing to swim.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. I don't think I could do that. A college senior's frustration over her professor's behind-the-scenes use of artificial intelligence has sparked debate about transparency, fairness, and the changing dynamics of higher education in the age of chat GPT. Ellis Stapleton, a business major at Northeastern University, noticed something unusual in her professor's lecture materials. The notes included strange errors.
A reference to chat GPT in the bibliography and AI-generated images that appeared distorted, some even showing people with extra limbs. Well, that was enough to prompt her to dig deeper when she confirmed that her professor had been using AI tools without informing students
She filed a formal complaint and requested a tuition refund of more than $8,000, which was the amount she paid on the course. That's going to be a big part of a lot of business going forward where you're going to be in the wrong if you don't inform people that you're using AI to get some results. Well, here's the deal. She said he was telling us not to use it and then he...
He's using it himself. Hypocrite. So she sees as a double standard. The professor, Rick Arrowood, admitted to using several AI platforms to help develop his lecture materials, including JetGBT, the AI search engine Perplexity, and presentation generator Gamma. He told the Times that he now realizes he should have taken a closer look at the materials before sharing them with students. Translation, I missed the watermark. He said, in hindsight, I wish I would have looked at it more closely. I'm too lazy. He added that...
That's why I'm using this. To be transparent about AI use and thoughtful about how it's integrated into teaching. He said, if my experience can be something people can learn from, then okay. That's my happy spot. He's a teacher at heart. If people can learn. But listen, after a series of meetings, Northeastern University decided to not approve the refund request. Ah. Yeah. Northeastern's policy requires... We certainly understand your issue, but we're not giving your money back. Come on. Yeah.
So their policy requires both students and faculty provide proper attribution when using AI-generated content in any submitted work. It also emphasizes the importance of checking AI output for accuracy as well.
All right, this is wild, man. A violent break-in occurred at the California home of Beanie Babies mogul Ty Warner that left a woman in a coma. The Nevada man now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder in connection with the home invasion and assault.
The suspect, 42-year-old Russell Maxwell Fay, was taken into custody after violently attacking a stranger inside a private residence and barricading himself from deputies. Deputies responded to the residence about the victim with severe injuries outside and followed a search for the residence. The suspect had barricaded himself in an upstairs bathroom. So the Beanie Babies, that's what Kathy would collect, right? Exactly, yep. So...
Just wondering. Uh-huh. I mean... Because maybe she's had it and went on a rampage. I mean, you know, doesn't have a job right now. Maybe think, you know... Son of a bitch. This guy attempted to flee by climbing out of a second-story bathroom window. He jumped to the ground. He was apprehended by a sheriff's canine. The victim, L. Malik Al...
As Lannan was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and the attack left her comatose due to brain injury. That's horrifying. Wow. Beanie Babies, well, who knows? Who knows? Let's try to make sense of this. Yeah, so he entered the home with the intent of burglarizing and then he ran into this woman and then he, you know, he beat her.
So this guy is a jeweler in this estate, and this guy is the creator of Beanie Babies. Yeah. Investigators do not have any indication that the victim or suspect knew each other, and Faye was charged with first-degree attempted murder. Wow. And just wild that that's the Beanie Babies mobile. All right. And we're going to have to end the Bizarre File right there, friends, because time is permitting it. So we are going to take a quick break. We have a few guests today.
that are on the way in the nine o'clock hour. Kevin Bacon is going to be checking in with us about one hour from right now. Always good to talk to him. He's got this cool setup with, uh, some local breweries called six degrees of fermentation. It's great. I love that name. Uh, when we return, we're going to have Jane and Guy Gaudreau, uh, their sons, uh, Matthew and Johnny were killed in this horrible, um, accident with a drunk driver. They're riding bikes. You remember, uh, Johnny was an NHL player, uh,
Matthew played hockey as well. It was just a terrible, terrible story. They have an event coming up and they want to get the word out about it. We're going to talk to these guys and see if they can carry on in their names and do something positive and make sure that everyone gets a chance to recognize and help out and all of that. We're going to take a quick break and come back with those guys. We have a few other things taking place as well. Don't be gone too long. We'll be back in a moment.

Now, back with more of the Preston and Steve Show podcast. All right, thank you very much, Marissa. We have our next guest in the studio and a very tragic thing. A parent's worst nightmare took place with this family. But they are trying to do the best that they can to carry on the legacy of these two gentlemen, John and Matthew Goudreau. As you remember this last August, it was absolutely horrible. Riding their bikes in New Jersey, drunk driver hit and killed both of them.
I'm sure we all recall, and obviously Johnny was a professional hockey player. Matthew, a hockey player in his own right, not in the NHL, but still both very, very active. Obviously, you can imagine their parents...
Their lives were, you know, completely encompassed by their sons and taken from them way too early. But they have an event that is coming up. And it is a first annual Goudreau Family 5K Run and Walk and Family Day. And it is this Saturday. And we'll get to the details. It's in Sewell, New Jersey. We would like to welcome Jane and Guy Goudreau. Yeah.
to the show this morning. Guys, thanks for coming in this morning. We appreciate it. Thanks for having us. Absolutely. I mean, we can't imagine the tragedy you guys have gone through. It was only this past August.
You know, it's hard to talk to people who have had this happen because it's just so difficult to wrap our minds around it. But you guys seem to be, you know, coping as anybody would have to. But trying to bring a positive out of all this, is that a fair statement to make? Yes, I think so. It's helping us a little with the grief knowing that we're keeping the boys' legacy alive and that we're helping...
So many other students that are not as fortunate to be able to run or play or do different things on swings. And this just makes us feel like we're helping them out. So you guys are going to have essentially a playground built with the funds from the event, correct? Yes.
Yes. Okay, and where is this and what type of playground is going to be made? The playground's at the school that I work at, my oldest daughter works at, my mom worked there, my brother who has special needs, he went there when he was young. And the boys volunteered when they were in Gloucester Catholic at
at Archbishop Damiano's school. So it's kind of like a family fair. Even Guy had volunteered before there when the kids were young. We would go up on weekends. And they've been trying to build a playground for several years now. And
We've been getting, you know, the donations through like different outlets. When my mom passed away in Louisville, we had all the donations go there. And then we decided that it was actually one of my friends from Calgary, Kelsey Snell. It was Chris Snow's wife said to, you know, to help with your grief, she found that if you got a project. So...
We were trying to think, like, well, that's what we should do. And one of the girls said, Mom, we already have a project. Why don't we just continue with the playground and our hockey friends where...
They kind of all came together and they formed this committee and they've done all the work. Guy and I and, you know, our family, we weren't quite ready to do anything. And they just took it from the beginning stages. And just it's just amazing. Over a thousand people that signed up to run. Plus the virtual is now over a thousand. So it's just amazing. That's great. You know, so.
So I was watching a number of the day after news reports, you know, after this horrifying incident occurred. And what you did see immediately was how much these two young men meant, obviously, to family, but to the neighborhood and to people who were touched by them. And so this, you know, after the maelstrom of that initial stuff subsides and you're like,
I know the predicament. What do we do? How do we channel this into something? This seems so perfect and so beautiful because they live on. You remember people, they live on. And you're going to have something that's a tangible thing that's going to bring joy to people for generations to come. So wherever they are and whatever you believe, this is something I'm sure...
They'd be smiling over and are smiling over because it is an extension of what it appears, judging by these people reacting to the friends and family in the neighborhood. This is what they stood for. This is what they meant. So it's a wonderful extension. And were you a little shocked at how immediate the turnout was? You got so many people signing up. Yeah. Yeah. When we first started, our friends...
put this committee together. I'm like, well, we might get 100 people, maybe 200. So we went to a smaller venue where we could run a couple hundred people, but we probably should have went... A little bigger? Yeah. It's a good problem to have. Yeah, within three weeks it was sold out. We felt bad because we had friends and people that were just waiting, you know, and...
So, yeah. And then they went virtual. But it's, you know, it'll be nice if we have 1,000 people there. There'll probably be more. Yeah. There's a family affair and there's going to be a silent auction back.
are up for sale to raise some more money. We'll post information on our website on how people can get signed up and contribute where they can do it in person or virtually. I wanted to ask you guys about raising these two boys because when you're talking about raising athletic kids, there is a lot of time that has to be invested into supporting that, encouraging that. You guys, I mean...
you got to the elite level of sports with your kids. So your, your lives in fostering that and making sure they needed to be where they needed to be when they needed to be there and in all the right environments to make sure that this ended up becoming a career had to have just been all encompassing in your life. Yeah. Our life was hockey. We were all from Toronto to Boston to Chicago, everywhere. And, you know, they're on the ice all the time, but,
The boys both played soccer and hockey and baseball, so they were pretty involved. And we had two daughters that were high-level dancers, and so we went different directions. That's how we stayed married so long, I guess. Yeah, divide and conquer is what we all had in ours. You couldn't be sick of each other because you were never together. At weekends, at Thursdays, we'd figure out who's going where with who. Tough.
Yeah. You know, when we're doing it, you're like, something's wrong with us, right? But like we look back now, our family was really close. We were a close family. Yeah, I think it built a real closeness because we would...
either be with the girls or we would be with the boys and then sometimes you know we would be lucky and they you know would work out where we could all be together so we spent so much time going to tournaments with the cars you know and different things like that so our four children are were unbelievably close like so close so that's one thing that we have you know
you know maybe we didn't have the time but we certainly did have the quality i wanted to ask you both about um the hockey community and uh and just how they've responded and taken this awful and heartbreaking and tragic situation and try to make it as heartwarming as possible and gee if i understand correctly uh john tortorella was one of the first people to invite you out and just get on the ice and do some stuff is that right yeah i went out with the flyers quite a few times and and it was kind of still fresh right so it was uh
I have to say, the first three or four months, your brain really doesn't work. You're just walking in a daze more than anything else. It was nice. The flyers really, really did reach out to get me out, try to get me moving ahead a little bit, which I'm still working on. It is...
My life was hockey. I coached hockey. I ran Hollydale for 30 years. I have tons of kids that are playing pro hockey, Division I, that I've coached. So, you know, it was hard to get... Now I'm trying to get my brain back into...
I think this summer I'll probably do a couple of hockey camps and try to get back up. Because I had retired two years ago. I officially retired. And then the boys' wives got pregnant. So they said, well, you're coming out of retirement. Right now. You're coaching my boys, right? Our boys. So John had his first son, little John. So then that was automatic. I was out, right? And then Madeline...
uh had trip and she some john maddie goes well now you're definitely out of retirement so yeah so and then now john's third child is a boy so carter so i'm assuming one of them's gonna want to play hockey yeah probably a good shot the good genetics are we play hockey well you talk about moving on uh gee or at least not moving on continuing on with your life i mean it's
It's the most complex of situations because here you are. Yes, you're not doing yourself any good by wallowing and self-isolating and staying away from anybody yet. You're cautious to do it. And then the moments that you take to step out and try to get back into the swing of life, you probably feel guilty about that too. Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, you go through a whole range of emotions. Yeah, I do. But, you know, like when I get down on myself or like there's not a minute of the day where I'm not thinking about the boys and different things that happened. It could happen differently. But I know my two sons and they would be disappointed in me if I just sat home and cried all the time, which I do a lot of. And they'd want me to go back out and help other kids and everything.
That seems something that I'm fairly good at anyway. So they did want me to get back out and do things. They wouldn't want me to lay around and do nothing. And it's easy to say, but to do is a little different. It's something to remember. And when someone passes, and I always say this,
You know, and you have two, you know, you know what they would want. And you just said it. You know what they would want. They would want you to be happy. They would want you to. And they, you know, you think how you, you know, when you pass on, you don't want people to be.
dragging it, you know, it's just these weird dynamics that exist. And the truth of the matter is, is that what you're doing now with this, with this walk, run and this event is a great extension. And everything starts to shift out. And then the memories, the moments to laugh, the moments to remember. Tell us something about each of them that, you know, that we don't know that, that
was something that makes you laugh as you think back about them because they were certainly loved in many different ways. A lot of people mentioned how jovial they were and how fun they were. So does anything come to mind for both of you? It's funny with John. He's a little quieter at first. It takes him a little bit longer to kind of warm up. And once he does warm up, you know, it's like he's just like so much funnier.
fun yeah and um and he just always loved children and his family like his family meant everything to him every time he would come home i remember before he you know it would be like bag day he would call and he'd say i'm getting on a plane and i was like are you going to stay a couple days and he said no i want to get back to my family so that was kind of like more john maddie he was just so full of life like he would walk into the room and within minutes
Like, he was everyone's best friend. It was just like, you know, took John a little bit. He was a little bit quieter, a little bit more reserved. But once they both got going and if the two of them were together, it was crazy. They just, you know, they were just so fun and so, you know, just...
Just crazy. Can you share the story that you were telling me in the green room about John moving in with Matthew when Matthew was in college in Boston College and John, who was in the NHL at this point, had to live in a dorm room? He did. One of the...
agreements we made if he left college early i said that he needed to finish his degree so he promised he would come back and boston college has this great program where they um coach york would have the the students either do the first part of the summer or the second and that was to get them back in i think it was also a little bit where he could kind of keep an eye on them and make sure that they were still working out you couldn't officially be on the ice or anything and so every summer i
John would come back. And if you know John, again, besides being so kind of like reserved, he was also never like to be alone. So he always had to be somewhere. And when we went back for the summer, he was trying to, he thought he was just going to go back to like, well, you know, I'll have a dorm and everything. And I was like, well, it doesn't really work that way. And he said, well, that's okay. I'll just live with Maddie. And Maddie said,
I'm in a double with, you know, with, you know, my friend Chris. He said, where are you going to sleep? And he goes, I'm going to sleep in your bed. He goes, we'll sleep together. He goes, it'll be fine. And Maddie was like, this is crazy. Like, you're coming back. And he said, you know, now you're on my territory. And John goes, oh, it'll be fine. It'll be fine. But I know deep down, like, even when they would come home, they would come home and, you know, my oldest daughter had moved out. She had gotten married. And I was like, oh, you guys, we have the extra bedroom. And they were like, what?
Why would we want different rooms? Like they were, when I say inseparable, they were inseparable. Like, I mean, it's so tragic what had happened to them, but because they were both together, it was just the way, it was always John and Maddie. They had all the same friends,
And it was just, um, yeah. And always being together is a terrible thing to say, but if one living without the other would have been incredibly difficult, you know what I mean? Yes. For each other. I just, they wouldn't have survived. Right. Yeah. It would have been hard for her.
Either or, if they were that close. I mean, they would have had their families, you know, their children, their wives and everything. But it would have just never been the same. You know, the boy's good friend from Boston College, Kevin Hayes, when his brother passed away. I remember the boys, you know, that whole next week leading up to the funeral. They were just...
They were just so devastated. And they were like, we can never do this. We can never do this. Wow. If you're just tuning in, Jane and Guy Gaudreau are here. And they're the parents of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau who passed away that terrible accident last year, killed by a drunk driver while they were out on their bikes.
They have this event and it is coming up on Saturday. It's a 5K run walk and it's to raise funds for this new playground that is going to be built at Archbishop Damiano's school. Did I say that right, Damiano? Yes. Okay. And you can sign up at runsignup.com slash GaudreauFamily5K. We'll post it to make it easier for you in case you don't know how to spell Gaudreau or
anything like that we'll make sure that that's up and an easy to uh to access uh gee you had a on a lighter note you uh last night threw out the first pitch at the phil's game yes i did and and i threw straight hey there you go no easy feet it was like oh geez you know yeah a lot of people looking at me i'm like uh so yeah it was uh they did a nice job the phillies got us there and uh
a lot of media to help promote the event. Just a quick question on that. Is this the...
RunSignUp.com, the website mentioned too, sign up. Is that where people can also virtually participate as well and make donations even if they can't participate in that way? Yes, if they can't, of course, the in-person is sold out. But the virtual, I mean, anyone can do that. You just sign up and then just go run 3.1 miles and you'll, you know...
Give your information in and then you'll get a certificate saying that you were in the Goodrow family 5K. And as long as the money's legit, you can stay around. Well, yeah. It is for a good cause. It is, yeah. These special needs kids that are... If you go there, if you've never been there, they do a tremendous job with the kids, but the playground really needs to be updated. I have a brother that has a special need. The daughter's in a wheelchair and it's like...
When John bought his shore place, he had to have an elevator for her to get in and out. So he bought a shore that had an elevator to go all three floors for her. So, you know, like people don't realize that when you're in a wheelchair, you don't walk, whatever. It's hard to get on a swing. Yeah. We're fortunate enough to be able to.
have regular jobs, have regular life. So, you know, it's just, it's really important. And that's why we thought about this, the playground, because we wanted to do something that was important to the boys. And we thought, you know, there's a lot of things we can do, but for...
this was our first one and we thought, well, you know what, let's do the Archbishop Damiano school playground because we know the boys would be so proud. When, when the accident happened, um, I'd never met John or Matthew and, um, but, uh, you know, it impacted me in a way that I was kind of surprised by. And I think that that happened for a lot of people in and around Philadelphia. Um, and you know, John played for the, for Columbus and for Calgary. And, um, but,
Flyers fans loved him. It didn't matter where he played. He was just embraced by Philadelphia sports fans, as was Matthew. One thing that's just resonated with me over the last couple of months is that I've gotten to know people like Jillian and Maureen who are in studio with us who are connected to the hockey community. Stacey Stevens, who is John Stevens' wife. Stacey has been so instrumental in helping to make this happen. Just one hockey person after another has been kind and supportive and
uh wanting to do whatever they can do to help and and just to do find some positives find some some paths forward so for me and i i hope you guys feel the same way it just does feel like um as awful and as tragic as this always will be there are these spots that we're like man we can find some positives here not that there's a silver lining but at least there's some positives that can be done do you think that that's accurate
Yeah, I think that's very accurate. I think it's brought a lot of people closer. We've gotten letters from people all over the country that, especially from parents who, you know, this is just unfathomable. No one, you know, ever would think that this would happen to them. And I think it's made people kind of appreciate different things more.
We've gotten letters where people have asked, like, you know, how did you raise such, you know, four really good kids? And, you know, we kind of joke around and we were like, you know, they're good in public, but you should see them at home. They've had some, like, really, like, really, you know, major battles against each other. But the hockey community and really even the sports community, everyone's just kind of like...
I felt like just taking us in, it feels like this warm, big hug that everyone just wants to help out. And they just want to be there for all of our family and for John and Maddie and just keep their legacy going on as much as we can. Absolutely. All right. Well, we'll post that information, as I said. And kudos to you guys because this is...
it's gotta be so hard to come and talk about this. I mean, this is an event that you want to be successful, but you know, we're, we're talking about, you know, the most pain you could possibly feel. And, and I just, uh, you know, our heart goes out to you guys and, and, and thank you for sharing your story and we know how hard it is and we'll do what we can to, uh, uh, stimulate our, you know, uh, listener base to, to get out and support this event. So,
We wish you nothing but the best. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you guys for coming by here. It's Jane and Guy Goudreau. Information, like I said, presidency.com. We'll have that up. Now, back with more of the Preston and Steve Show podcast. All right, thank you so much, Marissa. So, I know I noticed things earlier, but if I don't do this, I think we skipped the Just Saying Institute last week. We did. These things build up too much. And then you risk an explosion. And we don't want that. So, we're going to the Just Saying Institute right now. The Just Saying Institute, home of the Preston Elliott School for People crowd surfing. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
That was so much fun. Then the video's up, too. You got to see it. I can't wait. I did a crowd surf as dressed as the Pope at Kenan's. It was a beautiful thing. It was actually a bucket list item. Yeah. So experts are warning of yet another horrifying side effect of the drug Ozempic. It is called Ozempic teeth. Uh-oh. Yes.
Receding or sensitive gums, yellowing teeth, bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease are among the symptoms. By the way, the American Dental Association has come out in favor of us. To keep their industry thriving. So, obesity medicine specialist Dr.
Dr. Daniel Rosen said unpleasant outcomes are the result of acid reflux caused by the GLP-1 drugs. Okay. Did you experience that at all, Casey? I had some stuff going on, yeah. So I just went on a Prilosec, you know, to take care of that. Yeah, and it took care of it. Yeah. All right. Yeah.
So the medication makes people feel full by slowing down the rate of digestion, which can lead to food remaining in the stomach for longer periods. The longer it sits, the higher risk of its acid, of stomach acid, back flowing into the esophagus.
Dr. Rosen said many people say they experience a taste of stomach acid in the back of their throat known as water brash. Ooh, water brash. I've never heard that term before. I don't know. It sounds like a show in Vegas. Welcome to water brash. After you've, you know, vomited or something like that and that... Oh, my God. Yeah. That taste. Ugh. Gnarly. The acid, it says not only can, it can not only be unpleasant... Oh, no.
That's the reaction. And alter the taste and enjoyment of food, but can also lead to tooth decay. The acid in stomach content when it reflexes into the mouth can weaken and dissolve the enamel, making teeth more susceptible to decay. Isn't that a bitch? So you get in the best shape of your life and the best you can do is gum a new girlfriend. Yeah.
Meanwhile, cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Michael Green said that she or Michelle Green said that she has also seen many clients on Ozempic suffering from the same problem. She said that along with acid reflux, vomiting and lack of saliva caused by Ozempic are the triggers for depression.
deteriorating dental health. So now there seem to be a number of different options, you know, like Ozempic and Manjaro. Manjaro, Wegovi. Is there a jazz something? Zetbound. Zetbound, that's how to work it. Zetbound. We're losing lots of weight today. I want that one. That affects me, including scat singing. Zetbound.
Wouldn't that be great? If there was a drug that the side effect was scat singing. I think Debbie's on that. Listen to her. Dude, what is wrong with you? He's on the jazz one. Don't even ask. It's obvious.
That's definitely Zep-bound. Zep-bound. Jazz-bound. You're saying that so much you have no time to eat. That's right. People are trying to shove food into your mouth. I can't get it in! Eat! I can't!
It doesn't stay open long enough. I just did it. You ready? Yeah. I got a little cheese nub here. Have a bite. Go ahead. All right. Go.
Please tell me the camera was on Casey's face during that. Wait, you can catch the end of it all. You did? Yeah. Oh, wait, I want to see that. Nick has pulled up our YouTube stream. He's backing it up. This is Casey eating live on the air. Take a moment.
as he is on the, what is it? Jazz, whatever. Zatman. Zatman. I'm Zatbound. Skatbound. Skatbound. All right. Anyway, I'm not going to wait for this. Why? Why? Because the doctor's on the line. All right. Fox 29 and Penn Medicine. Dr. Mike Sirigliano is joining us. Hey, Dr. Mike.
Now I understand why all my patients are doing scat. Yeah. It's a side effect. They're on Zepscat. Zeps, they're on. So, look, let's break this down. Okay. A couple things. So, Ozempic is the
Same drug as Wagovi. All right? They're the same semaglutide. Only one is FDA approved for diabetes, and the other is for obesity or overweight. Now, the other class, not class, but the other drug that's most popular is Monjaro, which is for diabetes, and Zep-Bam. Stop it. Stop it.
There you go. That's the side effect. Okay. And how is the ZipBound differ from the others? Well, ZipBound is the same as Mongero. It differs somewhat in its composition and receptor interaction than Wagovi. But the bottom line is these drugs, GLP-1 receptor agonists,
Basically, what they do is they can reduce your appetite, making you get dehydrated. So the reason that the teeth take a hit sometimes is because you have dry mouth. It's almost like a condition like Sjogren's where you have dry mouth, and that leads to an increased risk of tooth decay. Dr. Mike, you're saying that it's bad.
probably less a result of reflux than it is dry mouth. Well, you know, they talk about vomiting. I mean, look, Casey, if I put you on one of these drugs and you call me two weeks later and say I'm vomiting all the time, I mean, unless I'm Dr. Kevorkian, I mean, I'm not going to keep you on it. I mean, what the heck?
So the bottom line is I've never had a patient that had vomiting that I kept them on the drug. And I've never ā very rarely do you see that side effect. Now, reflux is a different story. It can increase the risk of reflux, which can put acid up into your mouth and
and increase the risk of tooth decay. But if you look at all of the benefits of all of these drugs, you reduce your risk of heart attacks, stroke, reduce the risk of sleep apnea and kidney failure and even dementia. It goes on and on and on. So you do better teeth management. If you're on these drugs, you make sure you brush your teeth and do all the things that your dentist says to do.
Mike, what's, what's of the Troika, which is the most gentle and which would be your first go-to if someone was just simply looking to lose a few LBs? Well, you start all of them at a very low dose. There's a, there's another drug that's similar called Trulicity, but the bottom line is you would start on a very low dose. And I think it's 2.5 milligrams for, uh, Zep bound, uh,
And 0.25 milligrams for the Wagovi. And you start very low, usually wait a month, and then you increase very gently to give your body time to kind of acclimate, if you will. And a lot of the symptoms are bloating, diarrhea. You can have a lot of constipation. Right. A lot of those things. All right.
When it comes down to it, you start very low. Now, there was a study comparing ZepBound to Wagovi, and ZepBound had some more weight loss in that one study. But look, right now, to get them is the big problem. And compounding, by the way, a lot of folks get them compounded. That's going to be going away. The FDA is really cracking down.
down on that. What does that mean, compounded? That means you get them from a pharmacy where they will give you pre-filled syringes and compounding just means they mix it up in the pharmacy lab. And the company is saying, oh, wait a minute, wait a minute, we want it. So it
Lilly, Eli Lilly, you can get ZepBound directly from Lilly Direct. So for people out there listening, because this is just hot off the press, this is happening late last week, early this week, basically what they're saying is you're going to have to get it from the company. And the problem is insurances won't pay. A lot of insurances won't pay.
You know, it's funny, and I don't want to get too deep into the weeds here, as they say, but if you're taking something that has all those preventative aspects, you're saying, you know, reducing risk of stroke and heart attack and so on and so forth.
you would think that would be something that the insurance companies would be supportive of. Right. So why are you healthier? Fewer medical problems down the road, possibly, where they would have to pay out more. Right. Right. But see, here's the thing. They're very expensive. What I think in a free market like we're in, when newer drugs come along, I think the prices are going to go down and you'll see that they're more affordable. But it's...
it's clearly beneficial uh... to people and and the government and uh... i mean stated medicare has said we're not we're not paying for for obesity and they will pay for the diabetic side of things yet type two diabetes uh... but it's uh... it's it's a real challenge before they didn't have it and that's why compound the pharmacies were allowed to take the medicines and mix them up and give them to people but now there's plenty of the drug the problem is
You can't get it because insurance won't pay. Hey, Dr. Mike, I want to ask you kind of an off-subject conversation. Well, it's on-subject, but a little bit of a diversion here. You know, when these drugs started to surface and people, you know, they realized, kind of like Viagra was, it was intended for something else. They found out there were other effects. They found out it was used to great effect. Now we're finding out, you know, obviously these things are working tremendously well for weight loss. Are there any other things you see down the road? Is there any rumblings about...
up-and-coming drugs that may have interesting benefits to us as people. Like boners?
Well, look, we're always finding things that we didn't think about when it comes to medications. And I'm trying to think. Minoxidil is one of them. And that was for high blood pressure. And it was found to grow hair somewhat. But, I mean, I think that there's always a new...
nouveau way of looking at a problem. And one of the things I love about medicine and science is that we're always finding new ways to skin the cat. Just 30 years ago when I first started, the treatment for cancer has just been remarkable.
I mean, people that were dying 30 years ago are now living lives and some of them are cancer free. It's just unbelievable. Isn't it like often just standard protocol to check what you might already have that, you know, that that might off label, you know, work in another way, you know, as a treatment? Is that right? I mean, that seems to have happened quite a lot throughout medical history.
Oh, absolutely. And you can repurpose drugs. I mean, they'll look at a drug that's been around and then all of a sudden, wait a minute, somebody found that this does this. And you mentioned off-label prescribing. That's definitely something that goes on because you
You don't have the absolute confirmation from multiple trials and studies, yet we find that it works. And in many patients, I'll do that. You know, it's amazing. We're living in an age, Preston, where your hairy boner can now lose weight. How about that? It's amazing. It's a wonderful thing. All right. Dr. Mike, we love you. Thanks for the call. I love you. I love you.
love you guys. We'll see you. Dr. Mike Serigliano, Fox 29 in Penn Medicine. Yeah, what I was wondering about, I mean, so
We've tackled the boner issue. Yeah. I mean, that got taken care of a long time ago. Now we're getting on the weight loss thing. And if this could become even more ubiquitous, it'll be even easier for people to obtain and keep weight down. They haven't perfected the hair thing. I just heard about something. I know they're getting close. Yeah. And it's really not a lotion or a... What they're learning is... This is the latest study. I should have asked Dr. Mike when he was on.
That said that really what's happening is the hair follicles, the cellular nature of your hair follicles, just sort of go dormant and can be reactivated. I forget what methodology they used, but they were saying this is basically patches of your scalp go to sleep. And that's what it is. And so you're just reactivating it. And I think that's done with a large hammer. Okay.
Wake up! Steve, sit still. Don't move. Wake up! But I mean, isn't that... It's amazing. It's pretty wild because, you know, when you touch a bald man's head, it's smooth. Like there are no follicles there. Oh, it freaks me out. I love it. As if there's no follicles there or were never any follicles there. Yeah. And they just kind of went to sleep. You're saying that they can be reactivated. That's what this report said, which I think is amazing. So...
Besides weight loss, boners, and hair, what else other thing that's not life-threatening that we look at and go, if only there were a drug. Drugs can help us scat, but yodeling is still... No, but what about height? Height. All right, there you go. Just read a story about, and I asked this question to my wife.
There was a guy who was 5'6", 5'5". He wanted to be six feet tall. He had those extensions put in his legs. That's way too much. That's a lot. Yeah, yeah. I mean, to me, and you're 5'5". Listen, everyone's experience is their experience. Who am I to judge what makes you sad or happy? If you're an adult and you're going to do your thing, God bless you, you're not hurting anybody else. Got it. But that seems pretty drastic now.
To get up to just six feet, you know? I guess besides the height, it would be bigger genitals and bigger boobs would be another thing, right? Yeah. I want a huge vagina. Grow larger boobs, not have implants. Well, like changing your look, your physical appearance without plastic surgery or without invasive plastic surgery or dangerous plastic surgery. Like we've talked about, you know, how dangerous liposuction can be. What about like wrinkle surgery?
saggy skin reduction. Yeah, I guess it would fall under age defiance. Which, by the way, this goes right into another story. Oh!
All right, this is a story about plastic surgeons admitting the procedures that they themselves would never get. There you go. Because they're too invasive or too dangerous. Can I guess number one? Yeah. Lipo. No, lipo is actually not on this list, Steve. I've always heard that that's the most dangerous. It is. It's very invasive. Or is it even necessary? Well, going back, circling back, has ozempic and all these other drugs eliminated liposuction?
Probably not eliminated, but maybe cut back on that. So body altering surgery that these specialists would never get. So one of them is a Brazilian butt lift, better known as the BBL. Transfer fat to the booty to give it more volume and shape. Can you pick them out now? I don't know. I saw a woman yesterday walking across the street.
And I thought to myself, there is no planet on which that occurs naturally unless it's Brazilian butt lift planet. Right. Because there was just a bizarre half dome thing going on. I just need to see like a picture of one that is definitely one.
Okay. I think it's a lot easier to pick out fake boobs than it is to pick out a fake ass. Don't you guys? My ass game's getting better, but I would agree. It's hard to say. Some women are very, very curvy. Yeah, I don't know. I've never really looked and go, that's a fake butt. If your ass is on your chest, it's much easier. So Dr. Sam Fuller said that it has some of the highest complication rates with plastic surgery, including bleeding, deformity, pain, blood clots, and death. Don't like that. He said the recovery, which involves orthostatic,
lying on your stomach for weeks is another reason that he'd pass on it. Dr. Brandon Richland points out that he wouldn't have a BBL as they have, quote, the highest mortality of any cosmetic plastic surgery procedure. So quick question on that then. I didn't even think about this. If you are, you have to stay on your stomach prone for,
For a while. I mean, how are you? Probably. How are you going to the bathroom? That's a good question. All right. Here's another one. Liquid rhinoplasty. Liquid. Yeah, it is a non-surgical nose reshaping done with fillers and cosmetic and cosmetic surgeon. Andrew Kwan warns of the complications that come with it. He said the nose and area between the eyes.
carry fine arteries that can cause severe skin damage if they're inadvertently injected with a filler. I remember my first exposure to someone who had had plastic surgery was a girl I went to elementary school with. You got to remember, they were just fresh off the Civil War at this point. And she got a nose job. And it was completely...
Yeah. And she was, I mean, probably a kid, but pretty girl prior to it. But it's the way she felt about it. So she had surgery. She had surgery. Cosmetic surgery. Yeah, this is different than that. This is done with injected fillers. So Richland says that when done by untrained providers, which a lot of times these are, the procedure has a high risk of skin necrosis and even a risk of blindness. Because remember, it's in the triangle. And it can travel too, yes. Your eyes and nose is a dangerous spot. Jennifer, go ahead.
Gray looks like a very different person. She had her nose done at some point. Jennifer Aniston had her nose done. I think nose jobs in general are not that invasive, but this liquid one, no thank you. Yeah, my buddy Keith, when I was in high school, he had like a Geddy Lee-sized nose. Yeah. Yeah.
Big old honker. I can see that. And when he got that done, it was the best thing ever. I mean, like it was like you'd look at him and the first thing he goes, nose. You know what I mean? And then once he got it done, it looked great. He was a totally different person. And yeah, he was really happy he got that done. There's actually a TikTok star, this woman who had a, I mean, a very pronounced Geddy Lee nose and had the surgery and looks dramatically different. And by...
My aesthetic. Hers too, apparently. She looks better. She does. Like Princess Vespa in Spaceballs. No! Kind of give her her original nose back. Part of the torture. Your original nose back. Alright, here's another one. Buccal fat removal.
No, not buku. Buku. Buku fat removal. Is that your cheeks? B-U-C-C-A-L. Yeah. So this is for creating more sculpted cheekbones. Yeah. If it's overdone, Dr. Richland warns that it can lead to, quote, severe deformity and skeleton appearance. Well, that's the thing you want to be doing is sitting on your couch at home and then a skeleton appears. No, the skeleton won't appear. You will look as if you are a skull. I recommend it.
I recommend against that procedure. This is, this is a very trendy one you just mentioned. Uh,
Buccal fat removal? Yeah, because it's sitting, again, in that triangle. And a lot of people don't. We've talked about this before, and some people ask, when you bring that up, what are you talking about? If you pop a pimple or a zit in what is the triangle down from your brow to your nose around your mouth, think of like a Bermuda triangle on your face.
if you get infections, it can be dramatic. Yeah. And you mentioned, so this fat removal thing and the cheeks, I forgot the woman's name earlier this morning, birthday, she's from Shrinking. Oh, Krista Miller. She has clearly had that done. She's done a lot of work done. Yeah, and it,
I love her character on the show, but I do get distracted by her face sometimes in that it looks like Terrence and Phillip. She was on a show with Courtney Cox for a stretch. I can't remember the name of it. Cougartown. Cougartown. And Preston, everybody on that show at one point or another had had plastic surgery. The show was called Cougartown. It's about aging women who...
who stood around and drank wine. It was actually a pretty good show. I love that show. I did too. But it was distracting to see all of these, in my mind anyway, beautiful women change their appearance so much that it becomes...
They just become, again, this is a subjective opinion, but in my mind, a lot less attractive. And I guess that kind of thing is, it's kind of like by osmosis. You're next to this person, they get it done, and you're like, oh, maybe I should get that done. Well, you and I had the experience of going out for this event. We went out to L.A.,
for this radio event. And, you know, Nick, I completely agree with you, but it's easy for us to say in that environment when you're surrounded by people getting all these procedures done and you don't quite look up to that. You know who they say has had a good, pretty extensive makeover is Chris Jenner.
Oh, really? Have you seen Kris Jenner lately? Not in a while. So she clearly had, I mean, the Army Corps of Engineers came in on this one because she looks like one of her own daughters. I always found her pretty attractive. Yeah. So I'm interested in seeing what current Kris Jenner looks like. Nick is pulling up some current photos of her.
Wow. Okay. Yeah. Still, you know, I'm looking at the photo on the right here. We have side by side and this looks like a younger version of her. Yeah. Definitely smoother lines. Yeah. And not as drastic as some...
procedures that I've seen done but still it's a little off because you know how old she is and you can see there's something a little bit different. What are you 11? How old is she? She looks good. She's over 70. Okay. Yeah she oh no I'm wrong she's 69. She turns 70 in November. Okay.
One last thing on this list of procedures that plastic surgeons would not get done themselves. The fox eye trend and thread lips. So give me the fox eye. This procedure is popular with celebs and influencers who want to create an almond shaped eye. Okay. Very anime look. Yeah. Dr. Robert Schwartz, a double board certified eye.
oculofacial plastic surgeon calls the Fox Eye procedure abused and destructive to the eye area. He explains that the main concerns are cosmetic deformity, damage to facial nerves, scarring, and alopecia as well. My friend got an oculofacial in college and she ended up with pink eye. Oh, Jesus.
I mean, that's actually true. She ended up a big guy? You got to watch that stuff. Terrible. All right, so anyhow, these are from the experts, so I thought I would pass along. Okay, we're going to move on to another story from the Just Saying Institute. You guys ever heard of summer penis before? Summer penis. Yeah, it happened so fast. Summer penis. Isn't she currently Miss California? No, summer... Summer penis. The common causes of summer penis...
have been revealed after a doctor issued a warning about the condition and detailed who is most at risk. So what are the signs that you may be suffering from summer penis? Well, Steve, let me tell you about it. Summer penis.
Summer penis happens so fast. It's more common in older men. Intertwined with that is summer penis. Anyway, I'm going to stop reading this. So, all right. Yeah, I was sitting in bed and my balls touched my ass. No, that's eruption. In the U.S. between...
I have nothing. Erections. I got the way to do it. Erections. Erections. Erections.
Summer penis. All right. Anyway, between 30 and 50 million men in America have erectile dysfunction. The condition is more common in older men. Intertwined with that is summer penis, a simple biological reaction to the heat as blood vessels expand instinctively to help us cool down.
So, and it says the question here, what is summer penis? Even they don't know. Medical experts have explained how as temperatures across many countries soar in the coming weeks,
Time spent in the bedroom may be less intimate than usual. Dr. Donald Grant, senior clinical advisor at the Independent Pharmacy, said that the warm weather can pose many health conditions and exacerbate symptoms like erectile dysfunction. While summer penis is not an official term, there are symptoms that you can look for. I always figured, well, I don't know. I always associate the warmer weather and...
with more likely to be sexual. Well, here, the penis with summer penis, it can look larger, especially when flaccid, it says here. And the presence of a summer penis can also worsen ED symptoms from those who suffer. So it...
You look more like a shower than a grower. Yes. But when it comes to performance, you might have a little bit of difficulty because of the heat. I never knew this. It's never been... I've never had that experience either. I'm sorry. It's warm, honey. I can't get it on. Yeah. My penis looks much smaller compared to the ocean. Some men are more likely to experience ED on hot days due to dehydration as your body uses... Can I talk to you for a minute? This is great.
I think I have summer penis. What's that, son? Can you hit that again, please? Dad, can I talk to you for a minute? Do you have the whole clip? Yes. Can you go up to... All right, here we go. I have a strange... Dad, can I talk to you for a minute? I have a strange discharge. All right, thank you. I can edit that. All right, so anyway...
So, yes, as the body uses more water for homeostatic processes like sweating on hot days, and it may cause a problem with essentially keeping you ready to go. Basically, blood needs to be flowing within the body to the area. While narrowed blood vessels are also a symptom of dehydration, means the body is less likely to push the blood through. Okay, I would think, though, in colder weather, everything would sort of...
Right? I mean, shrinkage. ED symptoms can worsen through the summer months, including that of how fatigue and tiredness can also cause issues. I think you guys are discounting cuddle season versus get away from me season because the other person's too hot.
You know what I mean? Like in the summertime, you don't want to necessarily be next to somebody. I'm not disagreeing with anything you're saying. I understand your points. But in the winter, you're going to cozy up to somebody, your partner, and make sweet love. So when I'm sleeping or in bed, I...
I don't like to be wrapped around someone. Especially in the summertime. Yeah. No, I don't either. I'm off me. And it's, yeah, it's nothing. I love my wife dearly. No, I know. And she feels the same way. You can love somebody and not want to be next to them because they're gross. Well, sometimes skin on skin contact is just after a little while. It makes it warm. It gets warm and maybe sweaty. Oh, when I'm sitting on the couch and both my wife and I have the same thing. We're adorned by multiple cats and the body heat and everything. Yeah.
You go completely comatose. I think Chuck was telling me that he likes to sleep like big spoon, little spoon. Okay. Sleep like that. Really? I understand that's your starting move, right? Yeah. I got like max five minutes of that and then it's like, okay. I think just body heat to body heat is going to make things hotter. But I guess it stands to reason that some people would like that. Does that lead to him sporking his brains out?
So anyhow, summer peanuts, something I've never heard of before. No, no. You guys will find that interesting on the Just Ain't It suit. All right, here's another thing I've never heard before. In fact, no one's ever heard of this before. Scientists spotted surprising evidence of what they describe as...
Monkey kidnappings. Yeah. While reviewing video footage of a small island of Panama, the capuchin monkeys were seen carrying at least 11 howler babies between 2022 and 2023. This is according to the research said this was a very much shocking finding. According to Zoe Goldsboro, a behavioral ecologist who said we've not seen anything like this in the animal kingdom.
The monkeys' motivations remain under investigation. Capuchins are house cat-sized monkeys found in South America and Central America. They are long-lived, clever, and learn new behaviors from each other. I want 50 bananas and a paper bag if a kid gets it. One group of capuchins in Panama has even learned to use stone tools to crack open nuts and seafood.
There you go. Starting to use tools. Yeah. So Goldsberg and other researchers had set up more than 80 cameras to study capuchin tool use, but were surprised to see the first howler babies appear in early 2022. Goldsboro initially found four different howler infants being carried.
In nearly all cases, the culprit was the same sub-adult male. And the scientist nicknamed the capuchin Joker because the small scar at the side of its mouth reminded them... Do you wonder why I'm always picking my ass? Have you ever asked, why is his finger always up there? Because I like it. My father was an ass picker. He picked hard.
One time he scraped my lung. That's how deep in he went.
So, yeah, so he had a scar on the side of his mouth and it reminded them of the Batman villain. At first, the scientists thought that this was the heartwarming story of a weird capuchin adopting these infants. And then the researchers started finding other cases not involving Joker. It was the Riddler. But the scientists were... It was Bane, actually. That's who it would have been. Do you want your child back?
I want 10 bananas in a paper bag. I said 10. You can't hear me through this? No, it's really hard to understand you.
The scientists were puzzled because the capuchins did not eat or prey on the babies. Yeah, which is a concern. Nor did they see them enjoy playing with him. Goldsboro said they eventually realized that these abductions were a social, traditional, or a fad among the island's young male capuchins. So when I was reading this, I was wondering if it was an aggressive...
to establish dominance. Like we could take your children. You know what I'm saying? They don't believe that it is, Steve. So the footage showed the Capuchins walking and pounding their stone tools with baby howlers on their backs, but cameras did not capture the moments of abduction, which scientists said likely happened up in the trees where howlers spend most of their time. In most or all cases, the baby howlers died
died, researchers said. Infant howler monkeys would normally be carried by their mothers while still nursing. All the babies in the video, from a few weeks to a few months in age, were too young to be weaned. The videos recorded a few instances of young capuchin males still carrying howler babies that had died, likely from starvation, and many animals...
from gorillas to orcas... have been observed... carrying their dead offspring... though scientists aren't sure... for the reasons. Imagine seeing a gorilla... carrying an orca. Now listen... why did the Capuchin males do it? There were no signs... of deliberate aggression... towards the babies... and they weren't eaten... ruling out predation...
He said, we all spent hours racking our brains why they would do this. Now, the first baby snatcher may have had confused caring motivation or parental instinct because he showed gentleness interacting with the infants. Then four other males copied his actions. Researchers said they don't believe the Capuchins harmed the babies on purpose. So far, only one of the groups Capuchins attacked.
has been known to kidnap. And it's called... They think it was... Alarming behavior? Bizarrely a fad. A fad. So cultural fads spreading among animals is rare but not unheard of. That's why you occasionally see gorillas with Stanley cups. But, I mean, it's like a... You know, what I think of is...
Kathy was telling us how on women's purses, these little charms are kind of a bad. It seems like that. They're carrying this thing around for style. Look what I got. Oh, I hate him. He works it so well.
Where'd you get that howler? Previously studied capuchins in Costa Rica that suddenly started grooming porcupines. Okay, so they have seen this before growing bored of the trend. So they did that as a fad for a little while, grooming porcupines. That's a little bit more, that's a more dicey situation. That sounds like a woman fiddling with herself. I'm just grooming the porcupine.
And back in the 1980s, killer whales took to donning dead salmon on their heads off the northwestern U.S. coast. So they say sometimes these fads might be one of the reasons. Remember there was that pod that was sort of aggressively playing with boats and sinking them and stuff like that? Because aggression from killer whales to humans is...
It's like almost non-existent. And so they believe there was one matriarch of the pod that they'd seen do it, and they were just following suit. Kind of like this. So the trend, by the way, of killer whales wearing dead salmon on their heads. How do you like my salmon?
It returned decades later when orcas were again spotted wearing these, quote, salmon hats last year. Debbie, where'd you get that salmon? Oh, this whole thing? I put it on when I don't care how I look. So, it's interesting that there are, from time to time, these bizarre little fads in the animal world. Wow. It's...
amazing, wonderful, and troubling all at the same time. Yeah. All right. Let's do another one from Just Say Institute. These are scientific studies, medical breakthroughs, things like that. And this is kind of interesting. The future may finally be here in this regard. Scientists have created special contact lenses for
that let people see in the dark using infrared technology. So I think we're right at the edge of that, you know, the Batman, the special lenses that she, Catwoman was wearing for him. You remember when she goes into the club and she's wearing those lenses and he can see what she's seeing? Oh, yeah. Yep.
These lenses, developed by a team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, turn infrared light, which is usually invisible, into visible light. And this helps people see heat signatures like those from animals or objects. Like the predator. Even in complete darkness. The lenses use tiny devices called quantum dots to change the light. And they're thin and flexible, making them comfy to wear, apparently. So, I don't know...
You know, you would have to be able to turn it on and off because otherwise you put those on and all of a sudden somebody flips on a light. It's like in Step Brothers. Your head would blow off. I'm curious to this. I'm not that I haven't done it. I put in, you know, costume contacts, you know, and I've done it. It's fairly easy. I ain't got used to it. But I would be. Yeah.
concerned about popping things like this into my eyes. Preston, you just went to the eye doctor a couple weeks ago and you didn't get that thing that they dilate your pupils with? Correct. What is that drug? I don't know what it is, but it's so they can look for diseases if you're having cornea issues or something like that. But there's
Instead of getting that done, you have an option to look into this machine. Right. Like insurance is like it costs an extra 40 bucks or so, but you don't have to spend the rest of the day with sunglasses on. You can drive. Yeah. So I usually opt for it. I made that mistake. I didn't know what to expect. First time I went to the eye doctor and they put those drops in my eyes. Right. And I was like, no, I got this. And then when I left the store, I was like, I can't.
I can't see anything. I know, I know. And then I had sunglasses. Help me! Which barely did anything. But I'm wondering, like, does that help you? I mean, is it... It helps them do the checkup. I know it helps them do... But, like, suppose I put them in at midnight. Would there be a benefit for you? Would I be able to see better in the... I don't know, Casey, because one of the things... I had that done, and then it was evening. And...
the weird thing that happens with any light that you see, like headlights from a car or something like that. Um, do you know, uh, if you ever put on, uh, like, uh, like goofy glasses and you will see like prisms and like, you know, these kind of big cross type or star type things. That's what it looked like. Right. So I can't, you know, believe that it's good for you. Uh,
But if I was playing like Manhunt at night and I was out in the woods. I don't remember being able to see way better or anything like that because they were dilated. Anyway, in test, back to these infrared contact lenses. The lenses help lab animals see infrared patterns clearly. The researchers say that these lenses could help soldiers see.
spot dangers at night or let regular folks see better in low light, like during a power outage. Well, and there's also just night vision goggles. They're getting smaller and smaller, so if you did need them... Well, but these are even... There's no equipment. It's on your eyeball already, so I would think if they can turn them off and on, it's going to be much more practical. You probably have some power cords running out of your eyeball. Yeah, out of your eyeballs, you can plug a USB into your ear. I'm just going to play my eyes in.
The team is now working to make the lenses even better by improving how sharp the images are. They also hope to test them on humans soon. Now, if you have these, will banner ads pop up?
I don't know. But more work is needed to ensure that they're safe and practical for everyday use. Yeah, and Steve, you never know when they might be able to. I mean, there's also not only in Batman, but in Watchmen. So a night owl has those special goggles and it can look and identify people and give you all their information. So we're right around that now with the Google glasses and the meta headset and all these. Ray-Ban has some stuff that's coming out. We're going to be right on that precipice.
And you're talking just a couple hundred bucks for a lot of these things. Yep. All right, I think we got time for another one. One more? Yeah, yeah, I'm going to do one more. I got a few other things I could get to, but talk.
I told you there's a lot going on. Yeah, there is. So, countless patients, female patients, have suffered through in-office gynecological procedures like IUD insertions or cervical biopsies with nothing more than ibuprofen and white knuckles. Pain is complex and individual. One patient might feel little to no discomfort, and for another...
It can be excruciating. But some clinicians don't offer pain management because they believe it is unnecessary. And in its new recommendation for cervical and uterine procedures released last week, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says that there is an urgent need for this to change. If that, yeah, because if that changes, I think you'd see...
Perhaps women who are reticent to go get the checkup maybe be a little bit more embracing. And I would completely understand if I was going and getting something that was a painful procedure. It happened years ago before my current dentist, Dr. Petula. The...
it was painful and it was not good. And now it's gotten much better and I'm more likely to, you know, follow up on things. So ACOG directs clinicians to have an upfront and thorough conversation so patients know pain might occur and are offered options to manage that pain, such as a paracervical block. Marissa, is this stuff uncomfortable to you? I...
I'm scared to death of an IUD because it's actually like putting it into your body. But I have friends that have gotten them. And yes, a lot of people have experienced the pain. And it is one of those things where a lot of doctors just brush it off and say, you'll be fine. Take some Tylenol. You'll be good. Suck it up. And that's exactly it. That's what this is. It's like saying, no, no, no, this is a real problem. Now, not everybody gets an IUD, but at some point, you know, maybe a cervical biopsy is going to happen in your life. Sure.
Have you had it before? Yeah, well, you get like a pap smear every other year. You can actually take them at home now. There's a new test. Really? Yeah. So this block that they're talking about... I pooped in a box for a test, but it wasn't attached to any sort of thing. I just want to see if I could do it. A paracervical block, it is done by injecting a local anesthetic, often lidocaine, on top of and near the cervix. Lidocaine cream and spray are additional options for patients who want to avoid needles.
Though there is less research on their efficacy. My friend has gotten this and she's like, I can get Novocaine to get a cavity filled, but I can't to insert something into my body inside of me. Right. Yeah, that just it seems insane, right? Some physicians use a combination of the methods by applying a topical to numb the area first before going in with a syringe. Sedation is...
And anti-anxiety medication are briefly mentioned in the recommendations, which note that these options might be beneficial for certain patients, including adolescents or survivors of a sexual trauma. Yeah. They just want to be out for it. I'm surprised that this is not something that's done...
already, you know, to help mitigate that. So the new guidelines seek to prevent problems like the ones experienced by Melissa Stewart, who's a Memphis-based attorney whose doctor didn't warn them that IUD insertion might hurt. For Stewart, the insertion felt like she said being stabbed.
And this kind of experience can lead to a patient's distrust and even make the pain worse. Guidelines come just nine months after the CDC updated its guidance on IUD insertions, which also emphasize shared decision making. But while the CDC only acknowledged that local anesthetic can make an IUD insertion hurt less,
the American, uh, gynecology, uh, organization explicitly states that a clinician should offer it along with other options. So they're, they're hoping to make that more than normal. Yeah, actually, um, I just did an interview with, um, uh, her name is Emily Sheridan and, uh,
from um virtua i wasn't sure if it's emil or emily but it's emily sheridan from uh virtua and we talk about all sorts of things like this so if this is something that might interest you um very important for women or just anybody who is interested maybe has some important women in your life um we have lots of information to help you out here cool preston you mentioned like medical advancements that um you know almost like a magic wand type of a thing that that might happen over the next 10 15 years or whatever pain management must be up there right like the ability to sort of
At the beginning of the story, you talked about how different people feel different pain at different levels no matter what the procedure is. If you can mitigate a pain from a surgery or from an injury or from something like a medical procedure like this, wouldn't that be a great advancement? I would think so. We talked about people who live in chronic pain world. I don't know. You have my...
I don't want to say adoration, but I'm blown away by your ability to do that. It just seems something that's insurmountable. I think sometimes you're left with no option but to have to learn how to deal with it. Well, anyhow, I thought these were interesting stories passed along from the Just St. Institute, so therefore I have done that. We're going to take a quick break. Oh, and by the way, Kevin Bacon's not on the show today. I never mentioned that.
Well, we said, listen, we really want to do Joe Sane Institute. He said he understood. No, there was a scheduling conflict, so we'll try to get him on soon. But we're going to take a break. We'll come back in a moment. And Bizarre File. Yeah, that's on the way next. Stay with us. Looking for fun things to do this weekend? The Arrow Bears Weekend Calendar has you covered.

We'll dive right into this was an interesting one that took place over the weekend. A chilling case of real life imitating horror hit one theater goer hard when a woman was injured during a final destination screening, nearly losing her life as part of the ceiling fire.
fell on her in the middle of the movie. You might be inclined to think that was a stunt for the movie. Yeah, the incident happened during the Final Destination Bloodlines screening at the Cinema Ocho Theater in La Plata, Argentina. Fiamma Villaverde, who was celebrating her birthday with her daughter and a friend, was the victim of a freak accident straight out of that Final Destination playbook. Villaverde explained that
She chose to see the final destination, Bloodlines, because the tickets were discounted. She said, since tickets were cheaper than the rest of the week, we said, ah, shall we? And yeah. So what was meant to be a chill night out with popcorn and jump scares turned into a real-life horror moment. Toward the end of the film, Vyarde and her others in the audience heard a loud crash and initially assumed that it was part of the movie's special effects.
And she said there was a really loud noise. At first, we thought it was part of the movie because we were so absorbed. But the huge piece fell on me. Jeez. Laverde was struck in the knee and immediately taken to the hospital. Thankfully, she was leaning on the armrest at the time of the impact. If she had been sitting upright, the falling debris could have hit her in the head and possibly killed her. After being taken to the hospital, confronted the theaters, she confronted the theaters management.
She claims staff tried to downplay the incident and avoid taking full responsibility. That's 4D. The trauma from the accident goes far beyond the physical injury. Valle Verde revealed that she suffers from an anxiety disorder tied to past injuries.
panic attacks and had to avoid theaters for years only deciding to go this time as a birthday treat. Well, to be honest, if she suffers with stuff like that, why is she seeing Final Destination? Because they were cheap tickets, I guess. The incident is... If you see the movie in the theater that's collapsing, the tickets are cheaper. The incident is now being investigated by local authorities, but there has been no official public apology or comment on safety upgrades from the theater.
Wildlife officials helped remove a black bear that was found hanging out in the kitchen of a Kentucky home after an impressive yet clumsy break-in. I'm a big chubby bear with a furry little tail. Happy as a bear can be. A game warden responded to a call about a bear inside a home at about 5 a.m. on Wednesday. Now, the bear was not difficult to find. The bear!
Upon arrival, the bear was located sitting on the stove in the kitchen. Oh. There are pictures of it. But how did the bear enter the home in the first place? Officials said that it likely climbed a ladder outside. Holy nowhere!
No way. And squeezed through an opening in the attic, which is a feat you might expect from like a raccoon or a posse. That's pretty amazing. But the bear came crashing through the ceiling as evidenced by the large hole left behind. The only thing we don't have is video footage of this thing falling through the ceiling. I would love to see it. How funny would that be? Officials sent the large woodland intruder on his way without any harm done, unless you count the damage to the house. They're adorable.
They are, though they will slice you to ribbons. A male juvenile has been arrested on suspicion of murder for allegedly shooting and killing a man with a flare gun in Huntington Beach, California. Wow.
Officers dispatched at about 8.40 p.m. Friday to a reported shooting and located a man suffering from a single wound inflicted by a flare gun. That's got to look pretty nasty. I would imagine. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. The suspect initially fled the scene but was quickly located by responding officers. He was identified as a male juvenile.
The child, whose exact age was not provided, was booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder. I've never heard of that before. I mean, where did he get shot? Did he get shot in the head? That's what I'm assuming, right? Good question. Don't know.
Two 16-year-olds from Scarborough, Ontario, have been charged following a collision with a moose near the Perry Sound. A moose? Yeah, police... A moose? Why don't you forget the moose for a moment? Now, police responded to the crash with the fire department, and the moose and vehicle collided on Highway 69. No one was injured, but...
The police wrote, after detecting a strong odor of fresh burnt cannabis emanating from the vehicle, they searched the vehicle and occupants. Police discovered 250 grams of fentanyl, 33 grams of cannabis, a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine and 16 rounds of ammunition. That moose never had a chance. Yeah, so they probably should have forgotten about the moose and not hit it. At least for a moment. The firearm... Why don't you forget the moose? Okay.
For a moment. The firearm was concealed and unholstered in the waistband. One of the occupants of the vehicle had no manual safety, had nothing physically preventing the firearm from being unintentionally discharged. Both 16-year-olds were charged with drug trafficking and a weapons offense as well. And the most? The accused were both held in custody pending bail hearing. You know what? That is a good...
Steve. It's about the moose. They forgot about the moose. Why don't you forget the moose for a moment? Done. All right. Yeah, I don't know. Hopefully it made it. Yeah. Residents in a Cape Coral neighborhood in Florida have been dealing with an unwarranted...
An unwelcome visitor stirring up chaos. Now, I mentioned a bear early, but this community invader turned out to be a Muscovy duck. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says these ducks are known for being aggressive, damaging property, and transmitting diseases. They're huge. James Sepulveda...
James Sepulveda showed his hand, which the duck had bit. He said, I sit on my porch from 7 to 7.30 at this time of the year to catch a sunset. You know, some sun. Yeah. And I had my eyes closed. All of a sudden, I felt a jab on my hand, and it was bleeding. Something, bitch? Yep. The Florida Wildlife Commission issued a control order allowing the management of Muscovy ducks and their nested eggs. What?
In areas outside their natural range, Richard Guy, another neighbor, was also attacked by the duck. He said, I stood up, I made some noises thinking it would go away. Go away, duck, you know. Go get it. Next thing I know. Yeah, duck, yeah. Next thing I know, its wings come out like it's going to attack me.
I'll punch you right in the bill. So, yeah, these things have been apparently... They do get cantankerous going after the neighborhood. They video this thing squaring off against this poor guy. The commission said the ducks could be humanely killed or donated for educational purposes. Nah, don't kill the duck. Kill me. I've lived a good life.
All right, and that is what I have in the bizarre file for you. Actually, you know what? Yeah, there's one more because it's a story that hit yesterday and is viral. Did you guys see the nun in Brazil that went viral after launching into beatboxing? I heard about it. Didn't see it. It's great. It was a performance during a Catholic TV broadcast in a moment that has prompted no shortage of memes.
Sister Marizel, appearing on a Catholic television show in Goiânia, surprised the panel of viewers alike when she began beatboxing live on the air. NBC News reported the nuns were invited on the show to speak about vocation when Sister Marizel began to sing and beatbox.
While her performance lasted only a few moments, it was enough to get the priest and panel on their feet for a dance in a clip that has since gone viral. And drawn a flurry of reactions on TikTok and Instagram. The Internet was here for it as users drew comparisons to the 1992 Whoopi Goldberg film Sister Act.
And complimented the nun's talent. Marissa, you look like you're trying to grab that. I'll pull up the... I'm sorry I didn't let you know ahead of time. I love this. The priest and the other nun are dancing. Yeah, they're totally getting into it. They've got some good moves. And actually, her beatboxing skills are solid. She doesn't do anything crazy fancy. It's just a straight-ahead beat. But she's got the reproduction sound just right. So they're singing and...
And they go through a verse. And then in the second verse, she starts doing the beatbox. And then that's when the priest gets up and starts dancing with the other. And their moves are like choreographed. With the nun. Yeah. They're getting into it. So Marissa will grab that in just a moment. Make sure that we reward people that were listening earlier and have stayed listening through the morning. So what is one of the unfortunate side effects from the weight loss drug Zepbound? Thank you to the hard work of Marissa Magnata. There's now a video recap with the answer to this question on our YouTube channel. So if you were to pay attention earlier in the morning and watch us on YouTube, you would have seen Casey's version of it. All right, 610-660-9333 is the number. Courtney Stodden revealing that she had her lip filler completely dissolved. Stodden realized things had gone too far after she used her mouth to blow up a car tire. Oh, my God.
Britney Spears getting in trouble after trying to smoke on a chartered jet from Mexico. Spears says the whole incident was a misunderstanding and that she is actually a Boston Terrier. And finally, Chrissy Teigen coming clean about recent surgery to restore her hairline, which had thinned after having babies. Teigen wanted thick, dark hair and gave the surgeon a picture of Eugene Levy's eyebrows. Yeah.
All right, let us see if you know the answer. See if we can find someone who knows the answer. We need to find out one of the unfortunate side effects of the weight loss drug Zepbound is. And we're going to check in with Moik. See if he knows the answer. Hey, Mike. Good morning, bud.

at Rivers Casino on June 6th. Tickets start at just $39 at riverscasino.com. Must be 21 or older. Now, Preston and Steve's Music News on 93.3 WMMR. Yeah! Oh, yeah!
All right, we're going to start off with this sad story, man. Rick Derringer. I know. Passed away. There are some things I did not know about him until I started reading this about his life. He had a six-decade career, spanned teen stardom as lead singer of the 60s smash song Hang On Sloopy, had a 70s solo hit with Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo, which is a song I still love.
I still love this song. It's great guitar work. I just think it's a fun, cool rock tune. But he also did session work with artists from Steely Dan to Barbra Streisand and extensive work as a writer and producer of wrestling themes as well.
Derringer died Monday evening in Ormond Beach, Florida. No cause of death was announced, although he had been in ill health in recent months. He was 77 years old. A remarkable, versatile guitarist, a strong singer, and a high-profile presence on New York's rock scene of the 1970s and 80s. Derringer also produced...
The Edgar Winter Group's 1972 smash single Frankenstein. Which is very similar. Served as the band's guitarist for several years. Worked closely with Winter's brother Johnny Winter as a guitarist and producer. He produced Weird Al Yankovic's first album. And even gave Patti Smith her first major credit on the song Jump from Derringer's 1973 debut solo album All American Boy. That's pretty, I always liked that song. Hang on, Sloopy. Yeah.
Apparently, he also sang the Real American theme song for Hulk Hogan. That's correct. Yeah. His eponymous band released several albums and toured heavily through the 1970s. The band's final major incarnation featured Neil Giraldo, who immediately afterward scored major success as Pat Benatar's co-writer, guitarist, and husband to this day.
Derringer and his first wife, Liz, were also members of Andy Warhol's extended circle and frequently appeared in rock magazines of the era. And in his later years, he worked extensively with Cyndi Lauper as well. It's pretty amazing. What a career. Yeah, yeah. Best known for this, though. Yeah, I mean, this song. I love this. I love this guitar part.
That's just a great tune. So I was sad to hear it. And I just was not aware of all the stuff that he had did, you know, beyond Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo. He had a lot of input with other musicians and writing songs as well. In fact...
Oh, no. Okay. I thought he was involved with the Eve of Destruction. It says here, no, hang on, Sloopy, beat out Eve of Destruction. Okay, he did both. On the chart. So, sad news about Rick Derringer. A couple of other things to share. Slipknot guitarist Jim Root said that he is working on new music for the band's next album. He has six songs finished.
and four more that he's developing, which he hasn't shown to the bandmates yet. So he's done these arrangements, but he hasn't finished them up completely. Root wants the album to feel raw, like their first two records, and hopes to take time for proper writing and pre-production. And he mentioned that the band's
Been busy touring since new drummer Eloy Casagrande joined in 2024, which hasn't left a lot of time for working on new music. Slipknot's last album, The End So Far, came out in 2022, and they're gearing up for a European tour starting on the 4th.
Ryan Reynolds, I mention this because there's a music aspect to it, is trading soccer wins for the wild world of nature's losers in a show called Underdogs. It's a new Nat Geo series, and it flips the script on wildlife documentaries. Narrated and executive produced by Reynolds, a five-episode show. Highlights creatures with bizarre mating strategies, surprising superpowers, deception, dubious parenting skills, and gross-out behaviors.
He called the series a dream come true, mostly because he said, I can finally watch a project of ours with my children. And if that wasn't cool enough, he got Green Day to make the show's theme song. That's excellent. Yep. Underdogs will premiere June 15th on Nat Geo and ABC and then streams the next day on Disney Plus and Hulu. And then finally, I believe we have a clip. Steve sent this over. Case, do you see anything from Bono and the Edge movies?
Kimmel last night. I didn't look at the Vox Pro. Not just yet. Marissa's saying one moment, we'll send it over. But they were on for an interview. And yeah, they hinted at new stuff coming from them. You know what? I think I'm kind of excited for a new U2. Here we go. This is the clip. Are you working on anything right now? Oh, yes. You are. You are. You are.
What stage of the process are you in right now? Are you in a studio? It's where you've been in a studio. You have? It is. And, you know, I think you've sometimes got to deal with the past to get to the present in order to make...
you know, the sound of the future, which is what we want to do. All right. So no idea when something like that will come out. But yeah, new music from you two could be very, very cool. And that is all I have in music news for you. All right. Let's take a quick break. When we return, we'll get you that letter of the day for your word of the week prize. And we'll see what Pierre's got cooking. We'll tell you what's coming up tomorrow. Stuff like that. We'll be right back.
