You're listening to Preston and Steve on 93.3 WMMR. With Preston Elliott. I'm just getting warmed up. And Steve Morrison. And it absolutely will not stop, ever. Plus, Casey Boy. When you're the most annoying Sam in the world. Nick McElwain. That last one goes out to Nick. And Marissa Magnata. Care to join me for a glass of breakfast wine? And now, Preston and Steve on 93.3 WMMR.

Why are we going to do this thing again? It's Thursday morning. What the hell, right? All right, we welcome you, friend. Let's dive into the weather forecast for today. Man, is it starting off soupy and humid. We are going to go up to 91 degrees. That's the actual temperature, the number. But it's going to feel, with these dew points, all the humidity, cloudiness.

Close to 100 degrees. Yeah, and we've got a change coming. There's a cold front that's going to hit later on today. And it's going to bring with it some severe thunderstorms. Probably around 5, 530, somewhere around that time, depending on where you are. And then we do this weird little land. So it cools off with that front coming in. Tomorrow's high, 86 degrees. Mostly sunny. Good start of the weekend. Saturday, 91 degrees. Partly cloudy. Good summer day. It doesn't stop.

Sunday, high 94. Monday, we hit triple digits, folks. Over 100 degrees. So, summertime, summertime, summertime, summertime. We're right there. And now, Preston and Steve's news updates.

Good morning. Today is Thursday, June 19th. The superintendent of the Central Bucks School District, Dr. Stephen Yanni, and four staff members were fired last night following a report that alleged abuse of students at Jameson Elementary School. The allegations first came to light in April when the superintendent was placed on paid leave following the release of a report that accused a teacher and an aide of abusing students with special needs by restraining them

physically punishing them, withholding water, and leaving a student naked inside the classroom. The 70-page report was put out by Disability Rights Pennsylvania, a nonprofit with authority from the federal government to investigate public agencies on behalf of people with disabilities.

Abuse allegedly took place between September and December in 2024. The report also alleged that the school district misled parents and police. Seven staffers witnessed abuse and that was not reported to education officials, which is the law.

A teacher named in the report and who was fired last night, Gabrielle McDaniel, came forward in the hours before the school board meeting to deny the allegations. James Pepper, a member of the school board, said his nine-year-old son was among those abused. In the meeting, Pepper said, when people say to me, how can you bear it? It is the end of the beginning for us. We will be dealing with this for the rest of our lives. Yeah.

Robert Leroy Higgins, the Westchester gold and silver dealer found guilty by a federal jury of fraud and tax evasion last fall, was sentenced to 65 years in prison. The judge also ordered Higgins to pay $76.5 million in restitution for the precious metals that he stole from about 1,000 customers of his Wilmington depository.

Former employees, investors and two of his children testified at the trial detailing his thefts and cover-ups. The last of more than $150 million in silver and gold was stored at First State Depository in Wilmington, Delaware. Full restitution is unlikely because investors are unlikely to get more than pennies for every dollar lost.

Higgins spent customers' money on tropical family vacations, armored vehicles, and his daughter's private school education, and lied to customers, investigators, and the court. Did I read correctly that this is considered the largest theft of precious metals in American history? Yes.

It's crazy. Federal agents found 44 ounces of gold coins, some of the same types that went missing from his vaults in a 2023 raid on his million-dollar house near Westchester. But most of the missing metal has vanished and is untraceable. More than 90 of Higgins' investors filed victim impact statements. One woman said that she had been reduced to living in her truck. One man lost his daughter's college funds. Another man who is 80 is working in a deli to support his wife and himself. So this is a precious metals Bernie Madoff. Yeah.

Yeah, sounds like it. The prosecutor's memo called Higgins fraud the largest theft from a precious metals depository in the history of the United States and said that he was motivated by the desire to be the biggest name in the industry and flaunt his luxury vacations on Facebook. Higgins would invite potential investors to his vault in Wilmington, which was surrounded by barbed wire and security gate as a way to gain their confidence.

Ralph's Restaurant in South Philly, celebrating an anniversary that not many other businesses can boast. It is the oldest family-owned and operated Italian restaurant in the United States, and they are marking 125 years. Wow. That's great. And honestly, that stuff clearly does not happen by accident. No. I went to this, and this has nothing to do with that, but it is parallels that I...

Went to some burger joint in Scranton after, you know, taking my son to visit the school. I was like, let's go in there. And as I'm walking in, I see established in like, you know, early 1900s. Right. And I said to him, I go, dude, this, we're going to have a great burger. This place probably served...

Burgers to Jesus. Yeah. I mean, my math might be off. But when you see established in and it's over 100 years, you're like, okay, we're in for a good meal here. I know. This doesn't happen by accident. Yes. You don't survive that long without turning out something good. Elaine D'Addaro, daughter of the original Ralph, said, I can't believe it's happening. Whoever thought we'd be 125 years old? My heart is blowing up.

The family is celebrating the incredible milestone with a big bash. Francesco Despino opened the legendary restaurant in 1900, naming it after his son, Ralph, who ran it for decades. Ralph's daughter, Elaine, has now worked in the restaurant for years, too. She said, I feel so proud. I only wish my father could see this because I know that he would be thrilled. He wouldn't believe it. Jesus.

And now Elaine's son, Jimmy Rubino, is the fourth generation to run the ship. He said, I had to pinch myself to think my family had been doing this for that long. It's crazy. The restaurant is a trip back in time with old family photos hanging on the walls and the floors inside are the originals. And most of the food is still prepared the same way that Francesco did more than a century ago. Do you ever think about things when this show eventually hits 125? How will you feel about that, Preston? I'll...

be pretty proud. Yeah, yeah. You know? Jimmy said that these are recipes that have been brought over from our ancestors in Italy. People say you should change this, but no, if it's not broke, don't fix it. It's worked, obviously, for 125 years. Alexis Rubino is fifth generation and handling the social media and marketing for the restaurant. She said it's surreal to think that it's been around this long. In sports this morning. Woo! Woo! Woo!

Ball sacks are in the air. Ball sacks are coming. What the f*** is that? Alright, Nick, what's going on this morning? The Phillies beat the Marlins. They did it! They won 4-2 last night in Miami. Bryson Stott did a three-run home run. Ranger Suarez pitched seven strong innings. And the Phillies won their sixth game out of their last seven. They did it!

Suarez improved to 6-1 and he allowed only one run and four hits and another solid performance since his return from early season back injury. He struck out eight and walked two. Nick Castellanos doubled and singled in his return to the lineup after being benched the day before for making a quote inappropriate comment when he was pulled for a defensive replacement on Monday.

Fittingly, Castellanos made the final out of the night with a running catch up against the wall in right field. And then he pulled up his shirt to celebrate. The series wraps up tonight. Christopher Sanchez will get the start and the first pitch is scheduled for 640. Game six of the NBA Finals is tonight with the Indiana Pacers hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC leads the series three games to two. They're one win away from giving the city its first NBA title. Pipoff in Indianapolis will be at 830. In other basketball news, former Rutgers star Ace Bailey has canceled his visit with the Sixers.

Bailey, the number three overall draft prospect, was supposed to fly to Philadelphia tomorrow for dinner with the team's front office on a private workout. But yesterday, for some reason, he decided to cancel the trip. The Sixers own the number three pick in next week's draft at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The Sixers have not ruled out selecting Bailey, despite his refusal to visit, according to sources. The team has scouted him extensively throughout the season, and he played nearby at Rutgers in Piscataway, New Jersey. And the Eagles, well, they're still the Super Bowl champs. Yeah!

And that's what I have for you in sports this morning. All right. Thank you very much, Nick. And, uh, we got some stuff planned for this Thursday morning. Uh, number one, we have, we're going to send out, uh, the, uh, Duncan meal deal workforce visit today. So we've got a couple of spots that the gang are going to hit and drop off some goodies. brought into the fold. His name is Stanley, which is appropriate. Oh, yeah. Oh, Stanley. Flyers Alumni Charity Classic weekend starts tomorrow, so we'll get to Brad Margin here to give us some of the details, but we're going to meet Stanley. I was reading about him a couple of weeks ago. It's a cool little addition to the Flyers family. And we're also going to have McKeever, John McKeever. Tire Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix, and he's going to pop in around 9 o'clock, so we'll chat with him about the show and what's going on in his world, because he's always got a ton of things that

Now, back with more of the Preston and Steve Show podcast. All right, thank you, Marissa. Stupid question this morning. Four pack of grandstand tickets to the Auto Trader Echo Park Automotive 400 NASCAR Cup Series race. And that is Sunday, July 20th. And a gentleman named Nick

McElwain gave me a stupid question to ask. So here it is. Who are the only two women to be the wife of one U.S. president and the mother of another? 610-660-9333 is our number. If you happen to know that, well, you need to call us right now. Two women have been the wife of one U.S. president and the mother of another. Let's see if you can name them. I'll go through some birthdays while we wait for that call to come in today being the 19th of Juneteenth.

And we have Hugh Dancy celebrating a birthday today. We had him in our studio. He was a very nice guy. Yes. He turns a big 5-0 today. Law and Order is one of his credits, of course. He was also in that Hannibal Lecter series. Yes. With Mads Mikkelsen. And I have forgotten who he is married to. He's married to somebody famous. Claire Danes? I think it's Claire Danes. I think you're right, Nick. Yeah.

Another guy we have in the studio who's actually really cool, Paul Dano. Yes. Great actor. I drink your milkshake. Yes. I drink it up. I didn't order a shake.

Now, that's not Paul, but that is from There Will Be Blood, which he is in. And he plays a weird character. Everybody's a weird character in that movie. And I was really kind of... I'm not sure. I wasn't sure what kind of guy we were going to get. He can be a real brooding, intense, artsy kind of guy. But he was laid back and cool and willing to talk. Terrific, fun. And the wide range of his roles. He can do a whole bunch of stuff. The...

The Spielberg life story. The Fableman? The Fableman. He plays a really down-to-earth character, and then he's the Riddler. And I highly recommend Dumb Money. It's about the GameStop financial thing that happened, which I still don't really understand any of that nonsense. But he's great in it, and Seth Rogen's in it as well. It's really well done. Cool. Felicia Rajad of the Cosby Show fame.

Turned 77 years old today. She didn't know Theo. Nope, she's not a Theo. They had great chemistry. They were in two series as husband and wife. She is really good at what she does. You know what? There is a channel that is actually showing lots of original Cosby episodes. I don't know what that means or how people respond to it, but it's obviously enough for them to...

Do marathon. I was going to ask you what other credits has she done besides Cosby, and then I remembered she is in this universe now.

Because she played Adonis Creed's mom. Yeah, right. She was good. Really good at it. She's 77 today. Zoe Saldana has her birthday today. She's in all kinds of pop culture universes. Every friggin' thing. Now an Oscar winner. From Avatar to Guardians of the Galaxy and the Star Trek franchise. Yeah, now an Oscar winner. She is a lovely young lady.

She is 47 years old today, Zoe Saldana. Mia Sarah, who is in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. She's a love interest. She's Sloan. She is 58 years old today. And Casey and I recently saw The Life of Chuck.

And I didn't put it together until close to the end of the movie. I'm like, oh my God, that's her. She plays a grandmother. Oh, really? Yes. And she is still a beautiful woman. She's a lovely young girl lady. She's a lovely young lady. In her 50s. Yeah, 58. But playing a grandmom. Playing a grandmom? I know. It was wild seeing her. Do you have a kiss for granddaddy? In that role.

She was amazing in Ferris Bueller. I love the movie Legend, which is the Ridley Scott movie with Tom Cruise. Yeah. A very fantastical movie. And she is the perfect princessy kind of character. I had thought about doing a...

you know, at least from my era, a bracket breakdown of crushes like either or. Oh, yeah. I mean, like she was way up there. And then Steve, the actress that we had from Last American Virgin and Better Off Dead. I've forgotten her name. Like she would be on that list. Like I would have a hard time deciding this or that.

When it comes to my crushes My cinematic crushes She was tremendous Who's Patton Oswalt married to She's also one of them She was in Dream a Little Dream Diane Franklin is the lady from Better Off Dead Steve I know who you're talking about Meredith Salinger Nice We'll have to Let's put a pin in that We'll come back to that at some point She is 58 years old today

Robin Tunning, who was in The Craft, Empire Records, one of Marissa's favorites. And Encino Man was a big one for her. She was also in the series Prison Break. She turns 53 years old today. We also have Kathleen Turner. Phenomenal. And she was in our studio. Casey got to tell her that he...

Orgasm. Spanked it too hard? No, no, I did not. No. I was a child who was unaware of what was going on. Of what was going on. Okay. And then she got a wet t-shirt and romancing the stone. Yes. And I was like, oh, I like that. Her response was great. Yeah. Isn't that great?

Isn't that lovely? Or she was like, well, isn't that nice? She was great. She's totally self-deprecating in that second official Dumb and Dumber movie. Oh, my God. They go over to her. She was Frida Felcher, right? Yes. Frida Felcher. Excuse me, sir. Yeah.

She's got that voice. She's 71 today. It's Paula Abdul's birthday today. We have a musical tribute to Paula Abdul, don't we, Case? Yes, we do. All right, here we go. Oh, oh, oh, oh. There you go. That's uncanny. She turned 60. Do you have a bed, love? 63 years old today. Oh, yeah. What's that song, Rush? Keanu Reeves, Rush Rush. Yeah, yeah. Not forever, your girl. Hey, baby.

No, I think it was Rush Rush and he was in it. Paula is 63 years old today. Macklemore has a birthday today. His real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty. I think there was a story just recently where his house was robbed while his kids were in the house. No kidding. Wow.

So he turns 42 years old today. This thrift shop? Yeah. I love this song. It was a great song, right? It was so damn good. And actually, and when it hit, like the amount of traffic of people shopping at thrift shops, like tripled. And what they found out was in the song, he says something like, you know, I spent $20 or $10. They found out when you go to thrift shops, no, actually, it's a little more than that.

It's pricier than you think. Do you know what always confuses me? Who's the dude that wears the fake nose? It's the... Digital Underground? That's it. Yeah, yeah. Digital Underground? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So, Macklemore's 42 today. Brian Head Welch. From the band Korn.

Turns 55 years old today, so happy birthday to him. And another great musician, Ann Wilson of Heart 75. I think she probably has, pound for pound, the most powerful rock voice of any female that's ever done it. I mean, the dynamics of what she can pull off. Yeah. And, yeah, she's just the best. I mean, you have your...

Oh, man, why am I drawing a blank? Is he Hale and Grace Slick? No, I'm going back further. I'm going back further. Janis Joplin? Janis Joplin. Yeah. Obviously, she's powerful, too. But when Anne would turn it on, like, man, you can't deny how much vocal ability she has. So, 75 years old today, by the way. And then, author Salman Rushdie, the Satanic Verses author, he turns 78 years old today. I think they just...

Lifted the fatwa against him. I'll find you and I'll shoot you. It's an entire plot line for a season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Is that right? Yeah, Salman Rushdie plays a key part. He's on a lot of the episodes. And Larry ends up having a fatwa levied against him in a series of Curb Your Enthusiasm comedy of errors stuff. But it's damn hilarious. The fact that Salman can make fun of the...

death threats against himself. It was pretty hilarious. By the way, hit the twins again, please. I'll find you and I'll shoot you. We can't ever let go of those two. No, no. We need to continue that on. Run, he's got a gun. Exactly. All right, and then the final birthday, I want to mention my son Carter turns 23 years old today. Yay!

So happy birthday, buddy. You're sleeping deeply right now, but I love you and wish you a very, very happy birthday. Approximately when would we anticipate a wake? Now, school is done, right? Yeah, yeah, for now. So when would we anticipate a wake up to?

He's not as bad as Parker when Parker has a day off. That's like 2 o'clock in the afternoon. But Carr won't roll out of bed until after 11, most likely, I would think. All right, let's see if somebody knows the answer to this stupid question. Who are the only two women to be the wife of one U.S. president and the mother of another? And we are going to check in with John to see if he knows the answer. John, a good morning to you, sir.

Good morning, sir. Is everybody at work? All good if you got the answer, my man. So who are the two ladies?

Is it Linda Bush and Abigail Adams? It is not Linda Bush and Abigail Adams. I am sorry about that, bud. Is Linda Bush the lady that was in that Robert Greco movie? Richard Greco movie? What was the name of that lady? Linda Hunt. Not Linda Bush. Linda Hunt. She's the first lady. Hang on. Let me go to Jason. Hi, Jason. Morning, bud.

Good morning. How are you? Good. Do you know the two ladies? It's Abigail Adams and Barbara Bush. Barbara Bush. Not Linda Hunt. That is correct. Woo!

Hang on, Jason. We're going to give you a four-pack of tickets for the Auto Trainer Echo Park Automotive 400 NASCAR Cup Series race Sunday, June 20, Dover Motor Speedway. NASCAR returns at Dover Motor Speedway July 18th to 20th. And you can see NASCAR's best drivers race at speeds of up to 200 miles an hour. And an amazing fan zone and more. Get tickets at DoverMotorSpeedway.com. So we've got lots of things to talk about. Blake Lively and Taylor Swift's text message.

must be turned over to Justin Baldoni in lively sexual harassment retaliation lawsuit. After a judge ruled the texts are relevant to the case, Baldoni and Wayfarer Studio successfully argued that Swift's text could provide key evidence, though the It Ends With Us director initially tried and later dropped a direct subpoena against Swift. Hearing this story, it occurred to me I don't know the parameters of what becomes available to

to the court in a case like this, I know they can subpoena phone records. I know email, that would probably fall in that as well. At what point through this do you reserve the right to not incriminate yourself through your communications? Do you know what I'm saying? No. So in other words, what would...

Is everything up for grabs? You know, is everything subpoena-able? Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I'm pre-med. Lively's legal team fought the request accusing Baldoni of using Swift to generate headlines, but the judge, Louis Shadely Lyman, disagreed. The judge wrote, given that Lively has represented that Swift had knowledge of complaints or discussions about the working environment on the film, the requests for messages with Swift are reasonably tailored to the case.

He also said public interest does not invalidate Baldoni's discovery request, noting the mere fact that the request has been discussed in the press does not render it illegitimate. Harumph. Yeah, exactly. So we'll see how that plays out. This is pretty fun. Hugh Jackman got to give him some props for this little getaway stunt that he pulled after leaving his From New York With Love show. After getting mobbed by fans outside the theater, he spotted a random car parked

asked where they were going, they said 6th Avenue, so he jumped in the car and took off with them. It was not a rideshare service, but Hugh made himself ride at home like it was totally normal. The group of surprise passengers were more than happy to pick up the Wolverine actor, leaving the endless amounts of selfie seekers to hang out. Hugh has been lighting up the stage with his one man from New York with Love show at Radio City Music Hall.

and he's been singing hit songs from throughout his musical career and more. That kicked off in January. It's going to run through August 16th, but he just jumped in a car. You should try that, right? What? Try that, Dan. Just jump in a car? Yes.

I assume that they recognize that it was Hugh Jackman. I believe so. Wendy Williams' ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, is taking her guardianship case to court and he's naming names. A new lawsuit, he claims that Wendy has been the victim of unrestrained abuse, maltreatment, and fiscal malfeasance.

since 48, or malfeasance, I'm sorry, since 48 defendants, including her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, the judge overseeing the guardianship, Lisa Sokoloff, and even Wells Fargo. The bank petitioned the bank, it says. That's kind of weird. For the guardianship to begin with. I'll see me in court. So anyway. Oh, you will, will you? The suit.

I will see me in court. That Wendy was denied adequate legal representation and claims guardianship has since been a weapon, not a shield. These claims are scurrilous and exculpatory. According to the filing, the former... My recalcitrance is ridiculous. It's goddamn ridiculous.

You're not saying anything that makes any sense. The former TV host wasn't given an independent medical evaluation and was subjected to over-medication and unique undue restrictions. On top of that, the complaint also claims the staff at the facility that she's kept in tried to sell photos of her in a state of undress. Oh, man, you can't do that. Wendy spoke to TMZ, insisting she is not part of...

of the filing while Hunter's attorney LaShawn Thomas noted to people that Wendy is not legally aware of all of the evidence that supports our claims. Her ex maintained that he is not looking to end the guardianship but wants a new impartial guardian. How is he? I mean, he's her ex, eh? She hates him. He cheated on her. Remember, I think it was like a nurse or somebody from Lankana or whatever. There was some sort of relationship.

Locally. Yeah. And that was the whole thing. And then they parted ways. So he not only wants a new impartial guardian, he also demands the unsealing her case and investigation into the supposed mistreatment of Wendy's money and $250 million in damages. There you go, Steve. There you go. $250 million. He wants that for whatever reason. But he's not the one. It's her. So I don't get it. All right.

So, celebrity chef Anne Burrell was branching out before her sudden passing this week. Just hours before she was found unresponsive at her New York apartment, Burrell made her improv debut at the Second City in Brooklyn. Oh, wow.

And a fellow improv student, Jane Margolis, revealed via Instagram stories that she had been with Burrell the night before her death. She said, spent last night enjoying Anne's cooking and doing an improv show together. Still in shock, but so glad I got to know you. Which is wild because, you know, when I initially saw the story...

55 years old, successful. Yeah. I was wondering, okay, did she take her own life? You know, when somebody's cut down that quickly. Yeah, it happens enough these days where that would be a reflexive thought. Yeah, but apparently it's not the case here. Brella noted on her own Instagram last week before that she had been taking improv classes and was ready for the next step. She said, my class and I are...

Coming to the end of this term, and we get to do an actual show. No official cause of death has been announced, though it is thought that cardiac arrest was a factor, and her heart just may have given out. That's what I heard as well. Preston Mark Summers was in the studio yesterday speaking very highly of her, said she really knew how to have a good time. Yeah. And he was completely caught off guard as well. It was terrible. Yeah. Yeah.

This is sweet, and it's great when Johnny does this. Johnny Depp has had a rough couple of years, but he'd be the first to tell you that it's nothing compared to what seriously ill kids living their lives in a hospital are going through. So this Monday, he donned his famous Captain Jack Sparrow outfit. For 15 straight minutes. No, he wasn't. He was Whitey Bulger. He didn't do it to visit the kids. Wasn't your big fat... Whitey Bulger. Whitey Bulger, kids! No, it's his film.

God knows what. What a special visit. You take the same big, fat, filthy fingers. He's talking to some kid. It's nothing like that. It's something you're ever going to get out of that goddamn bed.

Oh, you're so sick. No, he dresses Captain Jack Sparrow. Just saying. And stopped by the Nino. Take the candy, take the candy, take the goddamn candy. The Nino's Asus University Children's Hospital in Madrid, Spain. Something he's done from time to time. And the response is always off the charts from the kids and parents and staff. It's pretty amazing. I mean, first of all, he clearly loves playing the role. But for kids, I'm just amazed.

At this point, the kids kind of know who that is. It's chronologically a little bit out of their wheelhouse. Yeah, it's been around for a while. That's a good question. I don't know if they get advanced word and maybe they show kids the movie. Maybe he should do Whitey Bulger Press. Yeah.

Hey, you kids are a fan of Black Mass? Take the f***ing money. Take the f***ing money. Take the f***ing money. So he was in Spain filming for his upcoming movie Day Drinker. And having a little downtime, took it upon himself to visit with the kids and give them a day to remember. So that was really cool. Come on. You can do it. Get out of the bed. You can do it. Come on.

Come on, get out of the bed. You can do it. The man... The past half hour, I've seen you piss into a pants. Yeah. There's tons of footage, by the way, if you ever get a chance. It's on YouTube. Call up him going... Oh, man, I love it. It's heartwarming and wonderful. The man who has lived one of the more chaotic lives in Hollywood is writing his life story, Charlie Sheen.

Charlie Sheen. He has announced that his autobiography, The Book of Sheen. Charlie Sheen. Is coming out this fall. I hope he does his own reading for the Audible. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Freaking Audible bunk. And in a statement, he said, my stories have been told for far too long through the eyes and pens of others.

I think you'll agree it's time to finally read these stories directly from the actual guy. I am on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen. Riding a silver surfboard in my freaking warlock bleeding tiger's blood, dude. The Book of Sheen comes out September 9th. Maybe he'll do some press, dude. Kiss your aneum and fart paprika. Wait, what? What? You remember in that. What do you do? What do you do? Hang on. Kiss your aneum and fart paprika. Duh.

Do you remember, I think it was Marissa, I don't know where she went, but Marissa sent us a video clip from Denise Richards' reality show. Did you guys see it? Yeah, I ended up watching the whole thing. So did I, Steve. And it was awful, but oddly compelling. It was so bad and so vapid and vacant, but Charlie was in it.

And, you know, she's got a show to sell or whatever. I don't wish them any ill will. It was basically a coming to terms. That's how it was positioned. And they were having dinner with the daughter and they were co-parenting or whatever. But it was, I don't know, a minute and a half, two minutes of just nothing happening. And they filmed it and it was a part of the television show. That was epic. It was kind of epic. At dinner, Nick, did he put any paprika on their food for them? I put paprika and piss uranium on it.

Hey, how does that poppin' fresh work? All right, so... No, I'm stupid. You're gonna finish that crescent roll? The book should be very, very interesting. Yeah. We'll see. All right, so we're getting our first look at Jeremy White, Jeremy Allen White, as the boss in the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere.

It's not a complete biopic as it centers on the making of his 1982 album Nebraska. Alongside White, who not only acts but sings, cast includes Jeremy Strong as John Landau, Springsteen's manager. Stephen Graham as Bruce's dad, Douglas.

Paul Walter Hauser as recording engineer Mike Batlin. Odessa Young as Bruce's love interest, Faye. And Mark Maron is going to be in this as well. He's a producer, Chuck Plotkin. Johnny Cannizzaro is going to be Steve Van Zandt. Harrison Gilbertson will be Bruce's friend, Matt Delia. Hey, I've never spent any... I'm going to be Clarence Clemens. Oh my gosh, you're going to be Clarence? Yeah.

I have to bulk up because I'm the big man. I've spent zero time with Nebraska, the album. Is it good? I assume. So this is a smart move when they do this. They did it with Dylan. Yeah. And they locked on him moving from acoustic guitar to electric. Rather than try to do the whole story. It's too much. I agree. However...

Nebraska. I would have picked Born to Run. Yeah. But I mean, so, but this is the same sort of dynamic, Preston. It is him going in a different... It's a shift. He became, he was no longer the Asbury Park Bruce, who I happen to prefer, but...

But he became the sharecropper. You know, hey mister, can you get your track? And I get that. And there's a lot of great stuff. Nebraska's not everyone's favorite album. But it is a definitive shift. So I guess that's why they went with it. It's more singer-songwriter stuff. And then Born in the USA just became this huge record and that came out two or three years later. Oh, sorry. Born in the USA was after Nebraska? Born to Run was in the 70s. Born in the USA was 84. And Nebraska was in between the two. Okay.

The movie will hit theaters on October 24th. Did you watch it? I watched. And, you know, the live, him performing live, Jeremy Allen White looks really good. I don't know. It says he's doing his own singing, but it sounded a lot like Bruce. It sounds a lot like Bruce. You know, I'm judging by first appearance, and it's a little Uncanny Valley-ish, because Bruce is so prevalent. Yeah. But we'll see. Okay.

Netflix has ordered a second season of Tom Seguro's sketch comedy series, Bad Thoughts. Good. He shared in an announcement how excited he is to get back to work. He said, it was such a thrill to get the opportunity to entertain and horrify audiences with our very bad thoughts on Netflix. And we're also excited to push things further with season two. I promise your family will not approve of what we do. There is one segment where he plays sort of this Latin character.

nurse or somebody in his retirement home. And so he sort of helps them rediscover life by having them lick his ass. Okay. Right? Listen, every single

skit that they do goes, it is wrong. It is absolutely, you're like, oh my God. Yeah. A premiere date for season two has not been announced as of yet. I was very delighted to see this this morning. Mindhunter fans,

There's a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Holt McAllen, who played Bill Tench in the Netflix true crime drama, we had him on the program a couple of years ago, says that he recently met with the show's director, producer, and showrunner, David Fincher, and was told that there is a chance that it may come back as three two-hour movies. Look it on it. Yeah, he added, I think that it's just a chance, but confirmed that there are writers that are working to give Fincher and

give Fincher the perfect season three script. So what was really disappointing about it was they could have wrapped it up easily after two seasons, which they did, but they kept this slight tease about the BTK killer throughout several episodes. And it was clear that that was going to be the focus of the third season. So I'm hoping that they'll be able to pull this off. So I found season one

And season two was, I don't remember a lot about it. It was a little bit of a letdown after season one. Because season one was so good. Just even the opening five minutes of season one. It was amazing. Yeah. I think of that opening scene from time to time. Yeah, I know. A hostage situation. A hostage situation didn't end so well. No, it didn't.

So he said that there are writers that are working to give Fincher the perfect season three script, and the crime drama hit in 2017, but it was shelved after its second season in 2020. That had to do with scheduling conflicts. Fincher later said that it was an expensive show. We never got the numbers that justified the cost. But still, McAllen said that he gave me a little bit of hope that

Though it all depends on Fincher being happy with the material. I'm playing J. Edgar Hoover. Wow. I think if they were to bring it back, fan it a little bit, give it a little bit of promotion, I bet you it would kick in again. Yep. All right. And then one last thing. New trailer for season 17 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Promises some high-profile crossovers on the way. It's great. Did you watch it? I have not seen it yet. Preston, it has Danny DeVito, Frank, as the Golden Bachelor. Correct. Yeah. So I did read that. So the new season will feature crossovers with Abbott Elementary from the perspective of the cast. We also learned, like Steve said, that Frank will star in a new season of The Golden Bachelor.

Season 17 will premiere on July 9th on FXX and stream the next day on Hulu. They also do a parody of the Hawk to a Girl. One of the contestants on The Golden Bachelor. Different name than Hawk. It excites Danny when she's one of the contestants. By the way, Glenn Howerton will be on the show in two weeks. Let's play the clips for you we have this morning.

The creator of Stick is Jason Keller, whose dad was a pitcher for the Twins and the reason why the show could have focused on any sport. But here, Owen Wilson and Judy Greer explain why golf ended up working out best. Everyone always talks about golf being a metaphor for life because it can be so difficult and

also rewarding when something goes your way. I mean, Rory McIlroy completing the Grand Slam by winning the Masters, it was agony. And when he won, it did not look like somebody who won. It looked like someone in agony. It's not like when

baseball players win the World Series. No. New episode of Stick Streams. Today you'll find that app on Apple Plus. So I watched the first episode and I liked it. And we'll see. I'll give it the three and see where we go. I'm enjoying it. I don't think all the characters are as likable as some of those Ted Lasso shrinking things. But I'm allowing them to develop before my very eye.

All right, we have another clip to play for you. In 28 years later, the rage virus still exists.

But it is mutated in different directions to survive. Here, director Danny Boyle talks about how the mutation isn't just a physical strength. It's also mutated behavior because in the original film, they were just random, the way they behaved. But they're more, they feel more, not intelligent, but they feel more organized in how they survive because they have to learn how to hunt and eat. How scary.

28 Years Later is in theaters this weekend, you will find. And the advance word, some early reviews. Excellent. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Now, back with more of the Preston and Steve Show podcast. Thanks, Marissa. In a little while, we're going to have former Flyer Brad Marsh stopping by and the new alumni service dog of the Flyers, Stanley. Always wanted to meet Stanley. So he'll be in. There's a big event coming up this weekend. We'll get the details in a little bit. Real quick, I want to do a shout-out. I didn't get a chance to get to this yesterday. This is from our friend Michael Hertzler, and he said, hey, I want to request a shout-out for Emma, who graduates high school. Wow.

Uh, it was actually yesterday. She graduated. Oh my God. It's unbelievable. Part of the 2025 senior class at Kingsway regional high school in Swedesboro, New Jersey. He writes with the struggles she has. We knew the middle school and high school road was going to be a tough one. However, she walked into this new world with her usual optimism and willingness to try. Um, Emma has autism, uh, and we've known her for years. In fact, if you ever tune in on, uh,

our YouTube channel, these little bracelets that we have hanging around our microphones were made by Emma for us. Yeah. And, uh, he says, uh, it would have been even harder for her to, uh, on this journey without love and support of her family and friends, including everybody on the show, Jackie Bam Bam and everyone at WMMR. Thank you. We are forever grateful. So congratulations to Emma.

Huge. I remember Preston. First time I met Michael and Emma was at an appearance at a Sleep Number store, I think it was, in KOP. And yeah, man, that little girl's graduated. Yeah. Holy hell. Crazy. One other quick one. I've got a few other. I'm going to spread out through the show. This one says, good evening, Preston. My wife turns 60 tomorrow on Juneteenth.

Uh, she is really not happy about turning 60. Uh, she's a huge fan of your show. She sets her alarm at six 15 every day to wake up to your show. Could you send her a shout out from her husband, Alan and our sons, Brandon and Justin, maybe after 7am much appreciated. So that's from Alan Sam. So here you go. Happy birthday to you. Uh,

And he just says my wife. He doesn't say her name. My wife. Happy birthday. Oh, Cheryl in the subject line says shout out to my wife, Cheryl. So there you go. Happy birthday to you, Cheryl. All right. Let me see. You know what? If I do not do this by the time we get through the show today or tomorrow, we always get backed up. I will regret it because there are so many new studies that have come out in the world of medicine and science.

We have to go to the Just Say It Institute. The Just Say It Institute, home of the Preston Elliott Extreme Weather Golf Survival Academy. You're playing today, right? I am playing today. It's going to be gnarly. It's going to be hot. It's going to be stormy. We'll see if we survive. I'll get back to you tomorrow on that. All right, so...

marijuana, you can find it all over the place now. Mary Jane. People who use marijuana, who use cannabis, have a much higher risk of heart attacks, strokes, and even dying from heart disease now. And you're not going to stop, are you? Oh, God, no.

Now more people use cannabis and the products they are using are stronger than before. Today's cannabis has more THC. That means stronger effects on the brain and body, especially the heart. I saw a study on THC yesterday and even in the last 20 years,

it has skyrocketed in marijuana bought and sold. You know, we've talked about this and how people who are, say, students or at least who would partake decades ago find themselves way out of their depth with the new strain. So this was an orientation thing. My son's going to...

uh northeastern this fall and uh i said kid and son at the same time and it came out as almost a dirty word uh my son is going to northeastern this fall and um it is so it was a previous steve about like you know kids dealing with alcohol right right sex and kids dealing with weed which i thought was a nice thing to learn but they had this chart and it just mapped from 2020 i'm sorry to from uh 2005 to 2025

And it just goes like this the whole way up. And it was just percentage of THC in an ounce of marijuana. So a quick question, and I just surface skimmed this article, Preston, but we're assuming that this is on the smoking end with the, or maybe I'm wrong, are the edibles, are the gummies, are they as impactful? It's THC. Yeah. So a new study was published in the Journal of Heart based on data from over 432 million people.

Well, that's kind of sketchy data, though. Yeah, so the research looked at 3,012 studies. Among them, 24 studies were focused on the link between cannabis and major heart problems. An analysis of the research showed that people who use cannabis have a 29% higher risk of

of heart attack, that's pretty significant. 29%, a 20% higher risk of stroke and more than double the risk of dying from heart disease. Stroke risk didn't look the same in every study. A few didn't find strong links though, especially in people who use cannabis once or twice. But when the researchers zoomed in on heavy users or young adults, the risk became clearer. Do you think this is going to be a case of just do it till I need glasses?

That kind of mindset? Yeah, maybe. In Australia, one study found that people who used cannabis weekly were nearly five times more likely to suffer a stroke or a mini-stroke. A U.S. hospital database also found increased risk, especially in people aged 25 to 34. These results suggest that occasional cannabis use

may not be a red flag, but regular use, especially while young, is when things start to look risky. One study showed that cannabis users aged 15 to 22 were 36% more likely to have a heart attack. Another found that people using cannabis more than once a week had more than double the odds. That's after adjusting for tobacco, cocaine, and other drugs.

Cannabis came out as the strongest predictor in a French hospital study, even stronger than cocaine. That's pretty amazing. And that's not what we normally hear about cannabis. The risk of fatal cardiovascular events was also investigated. In one study, young patients who had heart attacks...

and also used cannabis were far more likely to die. The link remained consistent even after controlling for smoking and other conditions. Another study conducted in the United States confirmed that cannabis users had a much higher chance of dying from heart-related causes. And in the UK, a 2024 study revealed an unexpected twist. Women, not men, faced higher risks of heart-related death

from heavy cannabis use. Well, this is not a lot of good news for people who are active with it. But I just wonder if these numbers are a little bit skewed because... Because they're too stoned to really calculate this stuff? No, because maybe the type of person that would use cannabis would...

be a less healthy type of person to begin with. So it's not necessarily the cannabis that's the issue, but the human being. This is a pretty comprehensive number. Those are all factors, yes. You're saying someone who might be inclined to be a chronic pot smoker. You're arguing causation versus correlation. Is that a sound argument? Yeah. So we'll see. So cannabis has shown, and here are the health benefits to

To smoking weed or to ingesting THC. A general good feeling. A general feeling better overall sensation. The disappearance of commitments. Proven medical benefits, especially when used under doctor's guidance. One of the most recognized uses is for managing chronic pain. People with conditions like arthritis, multiple sclerosis, or nerve-related injuries often find relief through cannabis-based treatments.

The plant's compounds, mainly THC and CBD, can interact with the body's endocannabinoid system to reduce pain signals and inflammation. And also, it can help cancer patients by easing nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy. And in some cases, it can stimulate appetite for those struggling with weight loss due to illness.

Doctors have used it to help patients with neurological disorders. And certain forms of epilepsy, especially in children, CBD-based medications have reduced the number of severity seizures. And then the bottom line is some experts think that they should be not criminalized, but it should be treated like tobacco with warnings about health issues. Right, right. About health concerns. It's interesting because I've seen a couple of articles pop up recently.

and some doctors are proponents of the use of nicotine for treating certain maladies. And I'm like, have you seen these cases? I have, yeah. Yeah, and I didn't take a deep dive on it, but I've seen this... No, they're not telling you to go smoke cigarettes or chew tobacco, but... But they're saying there may be beneficial aspects to nicotine. Yeah, these studies are interesting, and they, you know, I mean...

It doesn't fully affect me. Every other day... You're on the radio. Well, every other day, no, we're seeing something that says, this is bad for you. And you've been doing it your whole life. And it's like, okay...

Or then they'll reverse it and say, it's not as bad as we said it was. In fact, it's beneficial in some areas. And so there's so much confusing information that I just don't care anymore. I still like asbestos. I'm going to use it. Yeah. Why not? But I mean, yeah, I mean, you know, alcohol causes cancer. Yep. It's a poison. You have now this. And then let's go right into the next story. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. This will dovetail nicely.

Viewing porn is a habit that scientists have warned could pose risk to cognitive health. How? You learn so many things. A recent study found that... No, that's not how you do it. You do it like this. Regularly viewing pornography can immediately reduce a person's performance on tasks requiring attention and cognitive control right after exposure to explicit content. Impaired executive mind.

function and reduced cognitive performance are known early markers of cognitive decline, a precursor to dementia. So they're saying if you watch porn, you're going to end up demented. We have audio of one of the research experiments, Preston. Now he's also at this time trying to do the blocks matching shapes to holes. Right.

And having difficulty with it. You can hear he's... Yeah, I stopped it. See, he couldn't do it. Is it done? Yeah. Okay. I have a funny quick story about porn and young men. My nephew, Luke, turns 12 today. It's his birthday. And we were down the shore this weekend. And Luke is 12 and Tommy is 10, his brother. And Luke...

found a magazine with boobies in it. That's a rite of passage. Is it? Honestly, for 12... Of course, it was for all of us. Is it for a 12-year-old? He brought over a magazine, a piece of paper, a physical piece of paper, and he's like, Nick, look at this. And he handed it to me.

And I don't know where it came from. I don't know if it was a Playboy. It doesn't matter. But it was a physical copy. It wasn't on a phone. He found a magazine somewhere in the house that they were renting. And it was like...

I was happy for him because it was funny and it was cute. And it was, you know, it was like a little rite of passage thing. But I was shocked that any print publication ended up in a 12-year-old's hands. Right, right. It almost seems like a dinosaur at this point. Yeah, at this point. But, Nick, it's funny because I was just in the shopping center where we used to go to the Magical Dumpster. I was there two days ago. There was a Magical Dumpster behind this five and dime that had nudie magazines in it. And I was probably 10, 11 years old.

That's where you saw it. But it used to be more than that. It would be the famous thing was the Sears catalog and the bra section of that catalog. These were things that were very, no pun intended, titillating to young boys. Casey, you need to write a book called The Giving Dumpster. The Giving Dumpster. That's Shel Silverstein.

So impaired executive function and reduced cognitive performance are early known markers of dementia, possibly. Like I said, researchers had suggested that if such effects are sustained or repeated over time, they could potentially contribute to long-term health risks. In the study, college students watched a 10-minute internet pornography video chosen for its high viewership.

Before and after viewing, they completed a test that measures focus and attention control by requiring them to name the ink color of a word even when the word spells out a different color, along with three psychological questionnaires. Scientists observed that after watching pornography, participants had significantly slower reaction times and made more errors on the test compared to their performance before viewing. I wonder if that's just simply because they're spent.

Additionally, the brain activity patterns seen in these students resembled those found in individuals with drug addiction and schizophrenia. Oh, man. As well. So pot and porn, we're learning just terrible things, man. It's killing a lot of weekends here, Preston. Each group completed 18 rounds of the test with each rest around lasting two seconds. The results revealed clear differences between the two groups.

If the third story is golf, you're going to be up on the roof. Here are the two differences between the groups. The clear difference is low-frequency users demonstrated stronger connectivity in brain regions involved in language processing, movement coordination, and sensory input, while the high-frequency users showed increased connectivity in areas associated with executive functions, which are commonly linked to addiction and emotional regulation. So in college, high school, as a friend of mine...

And he was, even at that time, this is pre, you know, on your phone anywhere you want, Pornhub, X-Hamster, all that stuff. He was addicted to porn magazines. I mean, he had, this was his thing. And everyone joked about it. And he was, he kind of displayed what we would assume would be like a classic pothead thing. I mean, he was, he was...

You know, distracted constantly. Okay, yeah. So I guess that could be it. I mean, like chronic addiction. Well, they also examined emotional responses during viewing. Participants who watched porn less frequently displayed a wider range of emotions, such as surprise, fear, and disgust, while frequent viewers showed more muted emotions.

or neutral facial expressions. So I've seen porn that's made me very disgusted. So I think you can have both. Maybe. The best of both worlds. Maybe. And I'm referring to two girls in a cup. But it supports the idea that repeated exposure to explicit content made dull emotional sensitivity over time. I think that's, yeah, that's a standard. And we've talked about this.

People who've been weaned on porn and expect intimacy, real-life encounters to be like that, always end up in a bad way. Yep. So, sorry. Got bad news about weed and porn for you this morning. But I'm going to bring up something else. We need something on a positive note. Inspiring. And this was a really cool article that I read. It's about cancer. And obviously, it's still a terrible health threat.

One that is responsible for one in six deaths around the world, killing nearly 10 million people a year globally and over 600,000 people a year in the U.S. But...

Apparently, we have turned the tide in the war against cancer. This is an interesting article. The age-adjusted death rate in the U.S. for cancer has declined by about a third since 1991, meaning people of a given age have about a third lower risk of dying from cancer than people of the same age more than three decades ago. Which is quite an achievement. That's correct. That adds up to over 4 million fewer cancer deaths over that time period, thanks to breakthroughs in treatments like Osteo.

autologous stem cell harvesting and CAR-T therapy, there's no doubt that

Just as the rise of smoking in the 20th century led to a major increase in cancer deaths, the equally sharp decline of tobacco use eventually led to a delayed decrease. Smoking is one of the most potent carcinogens in the world. And at the peak in the early 1960s, around 12 cigarettes were being sold per adult per day in the U.S. You take away the cigarettes and after a delay of a couple of decades, lung cancer deaths dropped.

in turn, along with other non-cancer smoker-relating deaths. But we just heard the story about, and Marissa was sort of hepping us to the fact that the cigarette has now become sort of a fashion statement, right? The people being there, in fact, at the Met Gala,

people were openly smoking as they were coming in. Yeah, I just see it being used a lot in fashion. Not as much smoking, but just like a prop. Oh, I see. Okay. Even before the decline of smoking, death rates from non-lung cancers in the stomach and colon had begun to fall. Just as notably, death rates for childhood cancers

have fallen significantly as well, declining six-fold since the 1950s. In the 60s, for example, only around 10% of children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia survived more than five years. Today, it's more than 90%. It's amazing. And the five-year survival rate for all cancer has risen from 49% in the mid-70s to 69%.

in 2019. So this is good news. This is great news. Yeah. My nephew would never have found that piece of paper with the boobs on it if not for the research that's been done and the funding that's been allotted by the government and other cancer research industries. I mean, he had leukemia and he had pre-BALL and now he's doing fine and he's looking at porn. This is little Jimmy. He might never have seen jugs were it not for the work of CHOP.

So the dramatic bend in the curve of cancer deaths didn't happen by accident. It's the compound interest of three revolutions. All right. So while anti-smoking has been the single biggest lifesaver, other inventions have helped reduce people's cancer risk. One of the biggest is...

is the HPV vaccine. A study last year found that the death rates of cervical cancer, which can be caused by HPV infections in U.S. women age 20 to 39, it dropped 62% from 2012 to 2021, thanks largely to the spread of the vaccine. Other cancers have been linked to infections, and there's a strong research indicating that vaccination can have a positive effect on reducing cancer in

The next revolution is better and earlier screening. Yes. Obviously for things like colon cancer and colonoscopies and all that. Prostate. Yeah. So according to one study, incidences of late stage colorectal cancer in Americans over 50 declined by a third between 2000 and 2010 because of colonoscopies. Do you know what they are seeing though? Is they're seeing a...

increase in younger people getting colon cancer. 30s, early 40s. And that's sort of alarming. So that's a bad thing. That's a bad thing. And most promising are, so most exciting are the frontier developments in treating cancer from drugs like lenalidomide and bordezomib.

I don't know. Not zombies. Oh, wow.

It helped double myeloma survival and the spread of other stuff. So the bottom line is... This is good news. Yeah, the most promising is the development of CAR-T therapy or CART therapy, a form of immunotherapy. So I wanted to throw some good news in there. Well, you just rocked a lot of people's worlds with two stories, and this is good news. And I also think that the idea of my mother years ago, who had... She had...

A lung cancer that broke off and got into her brain. And I think had she had the scenario today, I think she'd be fine. They would have been able to treat it. But listen, you are of your time and that's the way things go. But it is amazing the way they approach it, the way that they – it's not always to –

sometimes they just stall it in your body. Don't let it grow. And so here it is, but it's not going to do anything more. My dad has multiple myeloma, but it won't kill him. He's going to live with it for the rest of his life and he'll never be cured from it. Um, but he also won't die from it. And so it's one of those things, Steve, you're exactly right. And if he had been, they've been diagnosed with it 20, 25 years ago, it probably would have been fatal. Yeah.

A lot of stuff continues to develop and they're coming out with great treatments. There was a story, I didn't get a chance to get to it today for Justin and Sue, but there's a vaccine they're working on for AIDS, a twice yearly vaccine that you can take, which is huge. It's amazing. So a lot of stuff happening. Now we focused on medical. We're going to move on to something else in the scientific realm. Psychological? Not psychological.

This more has to do with environmental. A group of researchers in Antarctica found strange radio waves coming from below the ice. Yeah, they're talking to me every day. In Antarctica. According to the results published in the physical review letters...

The mysterious radio waves were discovered by the Atlantic Impulsive Transient Antenna. We have a sample of the audio if you want to hear it. Yeah. Hey, everybody. It's good to have you on the map. No one can understand what the theme is yet, but there's clearly an advanced species living under the ice.

Hey, everybody. We lost the signal. Yeah. All right. She's buried. Yeah. Something too ba-ta-ba-da?

It's way below the ice. Is it like Gort, Klaatu, Barada, Nikto? During the experiment, the researchers analyzed signals traveling to Earth using a variety of instruments, using balloons to send the instruments up high into the atmosphere. I love balloons. The goal was to gain new understandings of cosmic events throughout the universe. And according to the release...

The reason Antarctica was the site of the experiments was due to little or no interference from other radio waves. However, the researchers found radio waves transmitting from under the ice instead. Oh!

It's like right out of a horror movie. Well, there is one of the installments of the Aliens vs. Predator franchise. Preston, this is exactly it. They find, maybe this is it. Maybe the producers actually knew something and were suppressed by the government but still wanted to get the word out. So they created this movie so we'd have at least a forewarning. Stephanie Weisel, Associate Professor of Physics, Astronomy and Astrophysics from Penn State, reviewed the discovered radio waves

while searching for a particle known as neutrinos. Yeah. She said the radio waves that we detected were at really steep angles, like 30 degrees below the surface of the ice. So to explain it, Preston, there was Quisp, Quake, and neutrinos were the three cereals. Lysol went on to explain that the radio waves should have been undetectable. The waves...

would have to go through thousands of kilometers of rock and would have been absorbed into the rock. She also said that the release, that the team of researchers in the release, that the team of researchers had no answer about how these neutrinos were detected. Have you ever seen when they take ice, like core samples, and they go down tremendously far? Yeah. It's wild what they pull out. But this is like...

Talk about when we get transmissions or radio signals from deep space. This is right within our own planet. Neutrinos are important to the understanding of the universe due to admitted by high energy sources and are typically hard to detect. She said that you can have a billion neutrinos passing through you at any moment, but they don't interact with you. She said, so this is a double-edged sword problem. If we detect them, it means that they have traveled all this way without interacting with anything else.

We could be detecting a neutrino coming from the edge of the observable universe. Once discovered, these particles can reveal data and information about cosmic events that even the most powerful telescopes can out. However, the research cross-referenced their findings with two other experiments and found that the results did not match up. This means what they found were not neutrinos, but something else entirely. They said that there have been some theories that this could be dark matter, but it can't be confirmed and remains a mystery.

Wow. That's a mystery. That's a mystery. All right, one more... That's a mystery. ...story from the Just Saying Institute...

Let's see. Where do we want to go? Well, we've been in the medical realm. We were just in the don't know what it is realm. Let's go to space. Space! The final frontier. So a pair of European satellites have created the first artificial solar eclipses by flying in precise and fancy formation, providing hours of on-demand totality for scientists.

The European Space Agency released the eclipse pictures at the Paris Air Show on Monday. Launched in late last year, the orbiting duo have churned out simulated solar eclipses since March while zooming tens of thousands of miles above the Earth. So they're at about, they fly at 492 feet apart.

One satellite blocks the sun like the moon does during a natural total solar eclipse. Right. And the other aims its telescope at the corona, which is the sun's outer atmosphere that forms a crown or halo of light.

It's an intricate, prolonged dance requiring extreme precision by the cube-shaped spacecraft, which is less than five foot in size. Their flying accuracy needs to be within a mere millimeter, the thickness of a fingernail. And this meticulous positioning is achieved autonomously through GPS navigation, star trackers, lasers, and radio links. So...

It's called PROBA-3. It's a $210 million mission and has generated 10 successful solar eclipses so far during the ongoing checkout phase. So here's the deal. In order for scientists to

study the corona they need an eclipse to happen yeah but you can't do you couldn't do them on demand now you can with this exactly and so it's only a couple times a year that something like that can happen maybe so when when if and when space travel has us being able to go to other planets you could conceivably position a planet between you and the sun

Right. And your space travels and create your own eclipse. So the sun continues to mystify. At least that's what I'm going to do. Scientists, especially it's Corona, which is hotter than the solar surface. Coronal mass ejections result in billions of tons of plasma and magnetic fields being hurled out in space. Geomagnetic storms can result disrupting power communications. And of course, we get the auroras from that. But this is how they can study that.

And find out, you never know what they may be able to find out. I think the most scientific accurate movie I've ever seen is a movie called Geostorm. Have you guys seen that? Yeah. It seems like everything in that movie. That was a documentary, wasn't it? It's horrible. I don't know. Have you ever seen that? Oh my God. There's this mesh of weather controlling satellites around the globe. It's outlandishly horrible. Wow.

Well, that's all I have time for in the Just Say It Institute segment this morning. Thank you very much, friends. Hopefully you've gleaned a little bit of knowledge from that. If not, suck it. That's what we say at Just Say It Institute. That's our wrap-up.

It's written in Latin under the stature of you. Suck it. E, suck it, plur. All right, we're going to break. We'll come back in a second. We will get to the Bizarre File. We have Brad Marsh, Flyer alum, stopping by too. Excellent. And Stanley, the alumni service dog, which is pretty cool. There's some events coming up this weekend that we're going to find out about. Be back in a moment. Stay with us. Flyer.

So, a 36-year-old woman is being held on felony stalking charges in a bizarre case where a wedding was held without the groom present and without his knowledge. Huh?

Beverly Hills Police Chief Corey Martin expressed that he's never seen anything like this. He said, I was here Friday evening when this came in and when I was talking to the lieutenant, I said, I don't think in my 23 years I've ever heard of anybody who's managed somehow to get married to someone who wasn't present for the ceremony. Well, that would seem almost impossible. He said, at first, we were really considering that it may be some forged documents. However, once we made contact with the reverend who ended up signing the actual ceremony showing that they were unified in

that he basically solidified the fact that, yeah, the groom was not present when that occurred. Christy Marie Spearman was arrested and booked into the county jail. I bet you that first dance looks weird. Now, Chief Martin said that his office was contacted by a 42-year-old man on Friday who said that he found a package from his ex-girlfriend at his home, which included a copy of a marriage certificate showing that he was married. He told police that he had been in a relationship with the suspect and they got a marriage license around June 2nd, but they broke up.

before a wedding took place. Chief Martin said the investigation determined that the woman convinced a pastor to certify the marriage without the groom being present and then went to the county clerk's office and filed the certificate. I guess it's like an absentee ballot. He said, I've talked to the victim and he's going through a significant process to try to have to fix it at this point. So that's a whole other situation. It's not only the concern of what does that mean for my safety, my property, he said, which is a huge conversation in this,

but also what I have to do to fix it. And it's looking like the process is going to be quite lengthy. Now, Chief Martin explained how this situation has been a rare occurrence and how they've been handling it. He said, I had to do some research on this. Going through the family code and looking at sections of marriage,

Wow.

Executing that and having the authority to actually witness that document. So during the reception, did she push the slice of cake into her own face? I guess so. With the assistance of the Hewitt Police Department, the suspect was located at a residence. Police obtained an arrest warrant for third-degree felony stalking. But I've never heard of anything like that.

before yes it's amazing all right washington state patrol says two people have died and four people were injured after a car drove off the end of the edmunds ferry dock late tuesday night police said around 11 10 p.m they saw minnie cooper going about 80 miles an hour in a 60 mile an hour zone they initiated a chase but they called it off only a minute later trooper said sometime in the 15 minutes after that deputy saw the minnie cooper and initiated another chase

They had not said why the second chase started. The deputies followed the car through the town and onto the Edmonds Ferry dock. They said the car then drove off the end and launched into the water. There was not a ferry nearby at the time of the crash. Troopers say that there were five people in the car. Two of them are dead and four others are at the Harborview Hospital with injuries. Yeah, but they just flew right off the end of that and two of them didn't make it. Wow.

In Australia, a 42-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound while cycling with his friends in a forested area of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve on Sunday. The incident occurred between Upper Seletar Reservoir and Upper Pierce Reservoir, which is an area that is restricted to the public and set aside for the armed forces. Actually, yeah, it says the Singapore Armed Forces. They're live firing activities.

The police said that they were alerted by National University Hospital after a man with a gunshot wound was admitted. A bullet slug was lodged in his lower back, but the injury was not life-threatening. He underwent a surgery to remove it and is reportedly in stable condition. According to the police... What are all these signs for? The forested area where the man had been cycling is marked with signage warning against unauthorized entry into a live firing zone at the time of the incident.

They were conducting an authorized live firing activity at the range about 2.3 kilometers away from where the man was cycling. Could you imagine? As a precautionary measure, live firing activities at the range have been suspended for now. All right, I'm going to do one more story and we will wrap it up. Let's end with this one. A popular campground in Colorado's White River National Forest.

Oh, wow. Has that gotten out of hand? Well, I'm a big chubby bear.

I'm a big chubby bear with a furry little tail. It seems nice.

The next morning they were like, hey mom, a bear was here. So if you, let me get this straight. So if you have a particular kind of tent, you can still be in the area? No. Okay, you don't go in the area, right? Soft-sided tents are not allowed. If you have a camper, it's okay.

I don't even want to have a camper. Yeah. After notifying Forest Service officials. I won't go there. The campground host worked with the agency to clear out all of the tent campers from the site. There were roughly 20 tents there and campers were either refunded or relocated to another nearby site.

The campground host said that the tent ban would remain in place for the next two months. He said they experienced similar issues last year with food condition, black bears breaking into tents and coolers. And they added that the bears were here first and this is their home and that campers are the real guests. Let them have it.

For now, yeah. And I was reading the article. It had a headline on it that said that burritos are no longer allowed. That's what they call the tents for bears. Oh, yeah, yes. A burrito. Of course. All right, and there you go. That's what I have in the Bizarre File for you this morning. All right, our guest is here this morning. And there is an event with the Flyers coming up this weekend in Conchahawken. It's a three-day event. It starts tomorrow. And we are happy to welcome this morning Flyers alum, Mr. Brad Marsh. Yeah!

To our studio. How are you, sir? I'm doing wonderful. How's everybody here? We're doing wonderful. It's nice to see you. And you brought a buddy along with you. Yeah, our newest teammate there, Stanley. Yeah, the Flyers alumni service dog, Stanley. I was reading an article about Stanley just a couple of weeks ago, and I was hoping we would get to see him sometime soon. And our friend Nick from Team Foster is here with Stanley. How old is Stanley, by the way? Stanley is 16 weeks old. 16 weeks old. He's a pup.

and just recently named an ambassador for the Flyers, right? That's correct. Through Team Foster and our partners at America's Vet Dogs. And courtesy of Brad and the Flyers alumni, they put on actually a great fan voting opportunity. And the fans are actually the ones who picked Stanley's name. I love it. It's perfect. It's match made in heaven. Yep.

Brad, the event that's going on this weekend, a lot of alum involved in this one? Yes, three events in three days. A lot of people think we're crazy for doing something like that, but the whole weekend was designed. Let me get that out.

To bring alumni back so we have a chance to get together, tell some stories, tell some lies, tell how good we were back in the day. And at the same time, with us having so much fun, we'll raise some significant money for charity so we can continue to do things like provide a veteran with...

cute little puppy like Stanley. Right. Who will mean the world to that veteran once they get Stanley? So that's terrific. And so what are the various events? Is it mostly just a fan fest? No, on Saturday we start with a pickleball tournament. The first ever alumni pickleball tournament. We got about 20

22 guys playing in that tournament. So the fans that register get to play with and against the Flyer alumni during the round-robin tournament. That's awesome. Are you playing pickleball? I'm going to attempt to play pickleball. Have you ever done it? Twice. Okay. So there's a good chance that I will be beaten.

Paul Holmgren, he was a fierce hockey player, as you guys all know. He's a fierce pickleball player. They call it spiking and pickleball. Don't do it on Homer because he might come across in that ad.

I think you guys just, listen, you became, you know, world-class competitors for a reason. You have that competitive spirit. I have to imagine that translates to pickleball as well. 100%. And that's kind of what I liked about it when Homer took me out to play my first game. Right. And was the competitive juice. I never played before, but you get mad at yourself. Why'd you miss that shot? Or why'd you step in the kitchen? Whatever the heck the kitchen is. You lose the point, for heaven's sakes. And, uh...

But then on Sunday, we have our walk, run and ride event in Conshohocken, which is going to be a wonderful event. And that's kind of for bragging rights. I beat...

Brad Marshall. I beat Joe Watson. Joe Watson's in the walk. He's 84 years old, but he'll be just smoking those hills in Conchahokan. Yeah. On the Monday, we have our annual golf tournament. It'll be our 12th annual golf tournament, and that's at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington. That's terrific. We have about 60 guys, almost 60 guys coming back for the whole weekend, and a lot of them are participating in all three events. So it's a test of endurance, not only in the daytime...

but in the evening when the stories really, really come out. Well, is there somebody coming that you have not seen in a long while that you're particularly excited to get reunited with? Well, you know what? We have a number of guys coming in from the original team, the 1967 inaugural team. Gary Peters is coming in. I know these are names that many of your listeners have not heard of, but they were integral to building the brand of the Flyers, if you will. Andre Lacroix is coming back.

And he's pumped. He's pumped to be back. And he doesn't travel much. He's coming in from Cleveland. So he can't wait to get here. And then we have Dan from several generations later, decades later, with Dan LaCroix coming back. And he said, I'm pretty excited to meet this Andre guy.

I mean, we got the same last name. I've heard all about him and never met him. And so it's going to be cool. That's great. To have everybody reminisce again. The alumni events are run so well. They're so much fun. I went to the alumni game two seasons ago, and it was oddly emotional. You know, people are like, I got teary-eyed seeing Rick McLeish and, you know, these really tough guys out on the ice also getting up, you know, the...

reminiscing and looking back on their golden years. It was really cool. It was fun to see, and I'm sure that there's a lot of similar stories that are shared at events like this. 100%. Like the hockey game, I mean, let's face it, we're all older, and so the game is what it was, but everyone that sits in the stands, they don't look at it, or look how slow Brad Marsh is, or look how slow this guy is. They remember back when that particular played, when they were sitting in their seats

in most cases, the spectrum and the younger generation, the Wells Fargo Center. And they remember back to the 80s and how good that particular player was then. And quite often, they're sharing, the grandpa's there, his son's there, and the grandson's there. That's very cool. It's a really neat atmosphere. Well, with temperatures in the 90s, it's going to feel like you're back out on the ice. So, yeah.

It's got to be great. Yeah, we're making arrangements to get more ice into Conchahawken now. Pickleball might be the safe bet. Yeah. Yeah. And bounce Pickleball out of Malvern. Listen, the fan base is so... And just people, you know...

The fans are loyal, as Nick points out. The things that the Flyers do are just, there's a certain pedigree and a certain polish to them that make them really great experiences. So you're going to have a lot of people just thrilled to be in your sphere and the collective sphere of all the former players. So I think it's going to be great.

Yes, great weekend. Hey, Brad, so the Panthers just won the Stanley Cup, obviously. Is that something you still keep an eye on? Of course, you watch it. And this year's playoffs was phenomenal from round one right until game four. Game four of the Stanley Cup final because the last two games were stinkers. But I got to be honest with you. I watched the games fall. The games get excited about the games.

But when it comes to the end and they're presenting the trophy, I just turn off the TV. It takes me back to 85 and 87 when we fell a little bit short against Wayne Gretzky and the Oilers. So one of the highlights of my career was playing with the Flyers and in the Stanley Cup and the finals.

The low light of all of that was... I didn't win. Well, Gretzky went nowhere. Who's he? Gretzky was in the building for a lot of it because he does the commentary. And they referenced the 85 win for the Oilers a couple of times in the playoffs because Gretzky... I think that was his first consmith. And he had an incredible series. And the 85 series...

was a challenging one for you guys, I'm sure. But the 87 one is the one that I remember the most because I was 12 at the time. It went seven games. You know, that was the game where who scored the game winner in the third period, the defenseman. Oh, man. It was the loudest the spectrum ever was in game six. Oh, J.J. Daniel. Game six. Yeah, I thought you were talking about game seven. No, no, no, no, no. I blocked game seven out of my memory. No. No.

No recollection of game seven whatsoever. But I got to go to game three of the Stanley Cup finals with my dad in 1987 at the Spectrum. And, you know, it's a core memory for me. And then the Flyers were down three games to one in that series. They fought back in game five in Edmonton, then won game six at home. It's just it really is the stuff, you know, these lifelong memories for me as a fan, but I'm sure for you as an alum as well.

Yeah, I was sitting on the bench when J.J. went up the ice and had the big one-time slap shot. So I had a perfect view of it going in. And man alive, it was just, as you said, crazy. It was the loudest. Aerosmith, all them rock concerts didn't hold a candle to a flyer fan. Yeah.

It's awesome. That's true. As far as the weekend goes, Brad, how do people get involved? How do they become a part of this? Well, they can go on flyersalumni.net. Okay. And we actually, us old guys, got a pretty good website up there. Yes. It shows everything, all the great things that we do, including working with Team Foster and the naming contest we had for Stanley. But...

Everything's there. And, of course, the alumni weekend is there. They can just click the various icons and register for pickleball, register for the walk, run, and ride. And the golf tournament is sold out. Terrific. Nick, is Stanley going to be making appearances at this event over the weekend? Of course. He's going to be a regular not only at the Flyers alumni events, including this weekend. He'll be there for a puppy kissing booth.

I'm going to insist on liberal amounts of chilled dog water bowls around the area because, you know, he's going to be working hard. Well, it's just funny. I was talking to Eileen before we came on today. There's a couple of locations nearby that Brad and the alumni are working with. So I have some temperature-controlled areas. All right. Excellent. Excellent. Just a little word on, again, to remind people of what the organization, what you do, what you do.

And the great benefit it does for people who are suffering from post-traumatic stress situations and who need and really flourish with these dogs. Yeah, it's absolutely life-saving work that Stanley and the other service dogs are doing. He's going to go through training for two years to provide any range of services needed for someone with post-traumatic stress, physical or mental health injuries. So anything from...

nightmare interruption, anxiety detection, or epileptic seizure detection, or blood insulin detection. There's all sorts of capabilities these dogs have when you take the time and you get them to the right hands. They're amazing. You were very gracious to name one of the dogs after my father who passed recently. It was 82nd Airborne Division and I understand he's doing well. Gene. Yep, little Gene is doing fantastic. We're trying to get him up here for a visit for you, man. Yes, I'd love to see him. Absolutely.

Awesome. Well, gentlemen, I hope the event goes well. Brad, great to see you. Nick, thanks for bringing Stanley by. Thanks for having us. Adorbs. All right. Thank you, guys. So details again one more time at the Flyers Alumni. Flyersalumni.net. Excellent. All right. Well, thank you. Thank you, Stanley and Brad Marsh and Nick. Thank you, guys. Team Foster. We're going to take a quick break. We'll come back in a moment. Make sure you stay with us. Hey.

Now, back with more of the Preston and Steve Show podcast. Thanks, Marissa. We've been doing these Dunkin' Meal deal workforce visits this morning, and I would like to say hello to the gang at BMW Turnersville in New Jersey. So Tara Brown wrote in, and she said that they work hard and they love their Dunkin', and so we set them up earlier this morning. They should have stopped by with some goodies for the gang there, and we're headed to another location.

A little later on, I'll mention that when we get closer to that time. But we're dropping off Dunkin' meal deals and coffee for all of them. And you can enter your office or work site on the contest page at WMMR.com. And we do this from time to time throughout the year. And we might swing by your business. It's the biggest deal in breakfast, by the way, at Dunkin'. You can get one medium hot or iced coffee and any two delicious wake-up wrap sandwiches for just $5. So stop in any Dunkin' location or you can order on the Dunkin' app.

I missed a couple of shout outs. I want to send these out. This one is from, who's this from? Kirian Pleas. I'm sure I'm butchering the last name there. But he says, hey, Presbo, would love to send a big shout out to Hannah, who's celebrating her first birthday as my fiance, which was on Tuesday the 17th. He said she's the one who made the embroidered patch

for Bill's motorcycle jacket when he retired. That's great. And he said, we listen to the podcast, so anytime this week would be awesome. Thank you. Love the show. PS1 to apologize again to Casey, who stepped in dog crap in the parking lot outside of our apartment when he came to pick up the jacket.

I do remember that. So you stepped in a pile of steam? Listen, it was hilarious because it was literally my first step out of the car. So I stepped out of the car. You could not have avoided it. There was no way to know. You know what happens on rare occasions is, have you ever stepped in?

In a fresh pile of dog crap in bare feet. Yeah. Oh, my God. That's why I try to do that once a week. It is... It's horrible. You just... You would... You actually make the decision...

Can I live without my legs? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like for a moment, it's like, oh, oh, what do I do? And then you have to walk around only using the part of your foot that's not covered. Because you're going to spread it. Yep. You can't handstand it. Oh, it's just gross. It's the worst. That's why I would go...

with our yard, um, our dog, Kissy, I will go around and I do, I do poop patrol to make sure that I can, you know, everything's picked up. I know you do it as well. No, I don't. I don't at home here in Delaware County. I do not pick up dog. I just run it over with a lawnmower and I let the, the, the nature rain and everything. Yeah. No, I pick it up at, at,

down the shore, the lawn is smaller. So it's less surface area. Dude, you have big dogs. I mean, Kizzy's a big dog, but you have two big ones dropping loads. He leaves little turds. Reggie definitely drops bombs. Can you hear it from inside the house? When we were growing up and we had dogs, Steve, we called it a doody-doody. Doody-doody! That was a responsibility for me and my brothers, cleaning it up in the yard. Let me pose this question to you guys. Um...

I know how awful it is that you're describing stepping in that with bare feet. However...

In some respects, it's slightly better than with shoes on because with the shoes on... You got to clean it. Not only do you have to clean it, it just kind of lives on that shoe forever. I know what you're saying. If you have any kind of tread, because my shoes are all hiking shoes or work boots and it gets deep inside. That's right. You almost have to have surgical tools to remove each fecal piece of matter from the grooves inside the shoe. So long story short...

yes, you can wash your feet off quickly and you're done. The shoes, it's going to be an investment. I think, listen, I need a scientist to confirm this or not, but like...

After a certain amount of time, the poop is just soil, right? It dries out enough for you. But I mean, listen, if you have any bit of it on your shoes, even no matter how much you clean it in and you bring it into the house. Yeah. Well, that's why my lawn mowing shoes, they stay in the garage. They never, ever, ever enter the house. They're stilettos, right? They are not. No, they just graduated. I see you guys probably saw that video last week or two weeks ago when my...

Hughes graduated from lawn mowing shoes to trash shoes. But yeah, so I don't like at home. I'm like, if I step in it, then I step in it. Whatever. I don't really care. I'm about to do an apparel graduation as well. I'm about to graduate. So.

some of my t-shirts that will now go to the shore. Those will be my shorts. Oh, that's the genesis. Yes, I will graduate. I don't quite want to get rid of them, but I don't wear them regularly enough anymore. So I'm going to take those off the racks and I'm going to take them down and then I'm going to get rid of the ones that I don't wear down there anymore and they'll be gone for good. So my hiking workout shoes, my boots, they're all in a line. So they move down the line

And as they move down the line and get to the end, then they are good-willed. You know? Is it shoes? Boots? Shoes, boots. But they all know. And I can see them getting a little emotional as they're moving down the line because they know. And then the new ones... Well, they get more neglected as they move down the line. Right, exactly. My process happens with my t-shirts. They come from a daily shirt to a sleep shirt. Okay. Do you guys sleep in your daily shirts? Or do you have separate... I don't sleep in shirts. You guys are shirtless completely. Just a bra. No, I do...

Yeah, I don't like the neck. Okay. Yeah, I just need to be less constricted. I do sleep in a shirt. Yeah. Well, because also I'm not sleeping under blankets. So do you do what Marissa does, graduate those to sleeping shirts, or do you use any shirt at all? I just roll right into the shirt I'm wearing at that time. I will maybe pop a fresh shirt on later on in the day, and that's how I do it. But they all do make... There are shirts that I've had that are pop culture shirts that...

And I have to go through the process of like, okay, the message has been made now. I'm a fan of this. You know what I'm saying? This is the show I watch. I've advertised it enough. I'm moving this on. I eventually got rid of my Game of Thrones shirts. Game of Thrones. Yeah. I had a good several year run on those and the show's not around.

I'll tell you something. You've got me some pop culture shirts and they all make the cut. John Wick is a perennial. Baba Yaga. I'm sorry, go ahead. This is kind of the opposite, but I'm also known for archiving, especially with sports stuff now. Because if you buy a hat at the Phillies game, a new hat, everybody's wearing it.

But if you get it and then you put it away for a year or two, then it is kind of like new again. To that point, you know, it's one of the hardest things to do is to get rid of a good sports jersey, no matter how afraid it gets. Because it adds more credibility and more cred to it. In my closet right now, Steve, is a really nice Sixers jersey.

with Ben Simmons' name on the back of it. And I'm just like, in 2017, 2018, this is something to have. Let me ask you, because I have one in my closet. It's a Jaleel Okafor jersey. What's worse? Jaleel Okafor? He was a nice guy. I don't think he's as hated as Simmons was. If he wore an Okafor jersey to a Sixers game, people might giggle, but they're not going to get mad at you. I think he let me limbo under his leg. Yeah.

Jaleel? Yeah, didn't we have him in studio limboed under? Yeah, he was massively tall. I really like the new this year's Blood Drive t-shirt for the Blood Drive we had last week. It's really well done and I like the colors on it.

and I washed it over the weekend. And for me, that first wear after the first wash is something like... It's like a little experience in and of itself. It's my first time owning this T-shirt. I felt really good about putting it on the washing machine and put it on immediately afterwards. It fit perfectly. It looks nice. I was like, ah, this is a good feeling. Really? After washing it for the first time, you get a sense of...

joy out there and it's not it's not putting it on for the first time at the blood drive it's taking it home washing it taking it out of the dryer and then putting it on you know I found Nick to be an alien concept and I'm sure you know Kathy would echo this Marissa might as well um

There are people when they purchase clothes, wash them before they wear them. Yeah, I usually do. I never do that. I never do that. I don't care. It actually makes me sad. I have the complete opposite feeling that Nick has. The first time I have to wash something, it's not new anymore. Right off the rack, I wear it and I'll wear it. Maybe it gets a couple of wears. I feel like, and I understand what you're saying, Marissa, but I feel like once I've washed it and now it's like,

officially mine. It's no longer at all part of the stores. It's now become part of the family. That's right. It's seen the inside of your washing machine. What is the oldest piece of clothing that you own and actually still actively wear? I had a really almost record breaker one to about...

About six years ago, I had a shirt that was my father's shirt that I wore, that he wore as a young... I don't know what this thing was made out of. I'm assuming asbestos or whatever it was made out of. But I had that. But you know, it's one of my longest lasting shirts right now that I still wear.

is the Shyamalan, the Night Trilogy shirt when he was planning out that whole series. He came by. It's a tri-blend. It's held up and I still wear it. So my best friend Steve just texted me and when I moved to Philadelphia...

After I was here for less than a year, I went back for his birthday. And he and I liked the Flyers before I even moved here. We were first and foremost St. Louis Blues fans, but the Flyers were our backup team. And so I bought him a Flyers sweatshirt. And not only does he still have it, he still wears it, 27 years old. That's cool. Dude, it is beautiful.

Barely hanging on. I mean, it's in frays. And he still wears it to this day. So he's had it for 27 years. The interview that just occurred on CBS with Belichick, he always wears super frayed, almost falling off his threads. That's kind of his style. That's his thing. That is his style. I don't necessarily know if it's old. The young chicks love it. Oh, they love it. First off, they love the old man piece smell. And then if you can marry that with a ratty shirt.

Oh, you're getting a handjob. I have an old shirt that I always wore underneath the Eagles jersey that I wear. And it is so frayed. But I cannot get rid of it. It was my dad's shirt. So I hang on to that. Press, I wore a shirt the other day that I haven't worn...

in years and it is definitely at least 25 years old wow yeah yeah what was it uh it's it's a polo shirt it's a green and blue striped polo shirt and you wear it here no no i wore it out to uh an event but like awake well no no i mean the reality is i love that shirt yeah but i got too fat for it right and then uh i was looking for something in my i'm like oh i could maybe fit into that again and i

That happens with going out clothes, I call them. Because you only wear them two or three times a year. And then if you don't wear it for another year or two. So it could last years and years and years. You guys know if somebody calls it a going out shirt for girls. I'm going to wear pants and a cute top.

is like an outfit that you might wear out. So like the going out tops are kind of a separate section in your closet. You don't wear those to work. And then sometimes they just kind of like have a swing. And right now, all of those going out tops are back in. I'm pretty predictable when I'm right. So I'm usually a pencil skirt and some flats. Maybe a little peplum, Steve. Bow in your hair. Yep, they're back. The Casey Moses lawn and stilettos. Yes, yes.

I'm stuck again, hon. He's out there doing it again. I'm aerating the lawn as I cut it. It's called efficiency. That's a brilliant idea. There's actually a brilliant idea. Hang on a second. I'm going to go to some calls. I have Daryl checking in. Daryl, you're on the air. Good morning, buddy.

Hey, good morning to see you. Daryl! What's up, man? Good morning, Ed. Hey, as far as the oldest clothing that I still wear, I have an original Pink Floyd Animals concert t-shirt from 1975. It's a little tight. How often does it see the light of day, Daryl? Maybe...

Twice a year. Okay. You dust it off every now and then. Okay. I got you. Yeah, but I mean, I don't want to wear it out where I can't have it anymore and wear it. Dude, that is, you know, I'm sure it's not a collector's items level, but I mean, that's pretty amazing. That's a good run. That is a good run. Well, they made shirts to last back then, not like the t-shirts today for concerts you buy. Yeah.

Right, yeah. True. All right, thanks, bud. Appreciate it. Actually, I own at least three pairs of shoes that are over 25 years old now. Two pairs of Doc Martens. And the stilettos. And the stilettos. Casey, question. Yeah. The Doc Martens that you have. Yes. Did you get those at Y100? I have mine, too. Yeah. I have a pair of... They're not the big steel-toe, you know, jackboot things. Yeah, yeah. But they were like hiking boots. Okay. And you know why I got...

because we were doing a promotion with Doc Martens and everybody on staff was able to order a pair. Did I get it? I went and I found the most expensive pair that there was and I ordered those and I still put them on. And that was...

Over 25 years ago. I love Doc Martens. Yeah, that used to be my shoe of choice. I still have mine from high school. They still have the cat scratch from our cat Vinny who's long dead. But the last time I also wore old shoes out was at the MMRBQ.

Is that the one where you duct taped them? No, I didn't duct tape them. Because you think you like hold on to them. I keep mine all in the shoe boxes and they're nice. But like leather, you have to treat and like make sure it stays okay. Is that why they fell apart? Because they were really old? Because that was... You got to...

Marissa was like a cobbler. Yeah. I mean, taping her shoes together was wild. Preston, you'll appreciate this. I have a rain jacket from my pop-up. He was a golfer and he went to St. Andrews and he got me a rain jacket or he got himself a rain jacket and then when he passed away, I inherited it. And it's from like the 80s. But he bought it there and he wore it for a long time and when he passed away, Wait, where did he buy it? What's,

St. Andrews in Scotland. One of the original golf courses in the world. So it's like a collector's item, but it's got sentimental value because it was his as well. So an uncle of mine gave me a bomber jacket. He was a terrorist. Oh, that's like a song bomber. No, no, no. He was a terrorist. In an aircraft. No, no, not the classic. No, no. It's different. Oh, it's like a vest. Yeah, it's like a vest. And you can put dynamite in it. Yeah, sure. I mean, that's practical. Yeah.

Let's see. Hang on. I want to go to Carl. We got a bunch of people calling. Carl, good to see you. Hey, Carl, you're on the air, bud. He has to wear stilettos to the MMRBQ. Yes, yes, yes, absolutely.

um anyway no i i bought a uh t-shirt it was a chip kelly t-shirt and it was like it looked like a religious t-shirt and it said in chip we trust okay and i was so excited about it because like this guy's from oregon he's had so much success here this is going to be a good thing turned out awful yeah and you're hanging on to it that's

No, that thing went right in the garbage. Oh, okay. Sometimes... Go ahead. I mean, I should have hung on to it for, like, joking purposes, but, you know, in hindsight, I probably...

Should have, like, you know, just kept it. Yeah. Well, sometimes you have a shirt if it's a pop culture thing or it's somebody who's... I mean, for example, if you were to have the original Cosby, a shirt about the, you know, Cosby with the family, that is sort of a... You keep it anyway because it's, oh, wow, look at that. And things become nefarious and you have these...

So there's a listener of a show in front of ours. It's Perry Schall. He's the one who did the concert poster for us for the camp out on Plugged. Excellent. He has a massive vintage t-shirt collection. Like that is his thing. His thing? Yeah. I mean like decades, decades old stuff. A couple years ago, I became obsessed with finding old WMMR t-shirts.

I was wearing them to the MMRBQ. I had like MMR Rocks Me, which was from the 80s. And then Pierre let me wear his from the very first t-shirt that he has from WMMR. He let me wear. So I've pinged all of the collectors, all the vintage people out there. I'm like, if you find anything WMMR, please let me know. I will buy it. Then they started sending me photos of stuff, guys. And it's like our Blood Drive shirt from like 2007. I'm like, oh my God, this is vintage now.

Somebody actually... Yeah, I didn't even think about it. It is. Somebody had this idea at the Blood Drive last week, and I think it's a good idea moving forward, adding the year of the Blood Drive to the Blood Drive shirts so that you can really... You know, we always sort of resisted putting... That's why you don't see a lot of sponsors and stuff like that, because it...

We prefer it to be a little bit pure, but maybe the year would make sense. Yeah. Yeah. If you put all the sponsors on there, then that becomes... That's your lawn mowing shirt. Yeah. Exactly. That's your cleaning up shirt. By the way, there was a woman who was at the blood drive who was wearing...

really cool Preston and Steve WMMR shirt. It had a boom box on it. And I came over. I loved it. I loved the design. It was so cool looking. And I go, where did you get that? She's like, on your rock shop. I'm like, I did not know that we had that shirt. And she goes, yeah, you asked me about it a couple years ago. Is it like 90s looking? Yeah. I guess. But yeah, there have been some really cool ones and it kind of made me

a little sentimental about those. And I want some more of this. My, my favorite MMR shirt is the, uh, the original old, uh, logo, the, that rainbow. Yeah. Yeah. You have it right behind you over here. I love that. That's a classic look. Favorite MMR shirt. You know what a cool shirt would be? Uh,

If you guys remember the TV commercial, the guy dancing in front of the brick wall. Just get a t-shirt of that dude. You know, that was a syndicated spot. We had that same spot airing in New York for WNEW.

Yes, yes. They were done around the country. It was in Cleveland as well, Steve. The radio stations, yeah. Marissa brought in the very first Preston and Steve shirt, which we have here. That was the first one ever? I believe so. Oh, wow. Yeah, that was that first year that we were on the air here. It was with the Gadzooks. I always loved our Gadzooks bumper sticker. It popped. It was red and white. I still occasionally will see those.

I don't even know if we have bumper stickers anymore. Did we ever have a monkey pick ass shirt? We had bumper stickers. I found them the other day. I think we did. There's a guy who just emailed us. I think he's in Key West at Sloppy Joe's. There's an MMR bumper sticker at Sloppy Joe's. I think that's one of those restaurants, Casey, where there's just a ton of bumper stickers all over the walls and they just put them up and they're up there for years. I'm going to go to some more calls. We've got Paul joining us next. Hey, Paul, you're on the air. Good morning, bud.

Hey, guys. Hey, what's up, man? Hey, it's Tomato Pie Paul. What's happening, brother? How are you? From the Cardboard Classic, of course. What's going on, buddy? Good morning. Good morning. I have to tell a story. My wife has a pair of Adidas sweatpants, okay, that are probably about 25 years old, okay? Over the years, at first, she had a hole in the ass end of them. I know why. It's just

Let's slap some duct tape on there, right? Right. Well, there's probably about 10 duct tape patches on those pants these days. So all of that is just as a repair job. Duct tape is the answer. Black duct tape on black sweatpants. And it's hilarious. So these never get washed then, I assume.

They do. They do. How? Just on gentle. That's all. Just on gentle. Just on gentle. Put it on the duct tape setting. Okay. Kid's teaser. It's hilarious. She will wear them no matter what. She'll be out in the front yard at the mailbox bent over doing weeding and gardening. It's like a security blanket. Yeah. It's your whooping. I'm like, what the hell are you doing?

You never want to let go of that. I got a great picture of her out there at the mailbox. That's great. It's hysterical. I love it, Paul. Thanks, man. Duct tape and safety pins. It's literally why I have a safety pin tattooed on me because it's just a lightsaber. And once the duct tape wears off, you just replace it. Have you ever learned to sew at all? Sure. Okay. But like, well, so when you're my height, you get jeans. And if you hem the jeans, then you can only wear them at that height.

But if you like them and they're long jeans, you can wear them with wedges and heels. Or you can just pin them up and wear them with sandals. No, I wasn't talking about that. I'm talking about like for repairs. Repairs. And things like that. Not in jeans because that can be fashionable. But if there's ever been like a something you really, really love and it rips or tears or whatever and you just want to fix it, you know, you can. So I ended up and maybe you can tell, inform me, hep me to the fact on this, Marissa.

I saw a thing, I think it was QVC, and this woman was pitching what they were calling, of course, it's always a revolutionary thing, where if you can't sew, don't worry about it. It is fabric glue. Yes. For rips, for hemming, for doing all that. Is that just...

BS or does that work? No, there are all sorts of tricks. There's fabric glue, there's hem tape and then there's also this patch that you can put on the inside of jeans or pants or something like that and then you iron it on. It's as good as you think it is. I got ones that were just adhesive. Do you guys want to do something tomorrow where we wear our oldest piece of clothing?

Wow. Somebody texted in, I have a Pearl Jam t-shirt from the first Pearl Jam show I ever went to. It was 1998. It was orders for choice, Constitution Hall. And I bought that. It was one of the first times, if not the first time, I ever bought a concert t-shirt. And I wear it occasionally. And I could wear it tomorrow if you guys want to do something like that. I don't know if mine is this impressive. It's that Shyamalan shirt, but I'll wear it.

Remind me tomorrow. I'll try and dig through my closet and see what I can find because I don't even know. And the clasp on my strap-on doesn't work anymore. It's okay. Just bring it in for show and tell. I stopped a while back trying to be so sentimental about apparel just because...

there's so there's stuff that i hang on to and and sometimes you know i'm not going to wear that anymore but there are a couple of things i don't think i have anything it goes way way back but i'll take a look is it the oldest thing that we own that we bought or like the oldest thing we own because i have a ton of my grandmother's like purses and dresses and jewelry and things like that so you were robbing from her as she was yeah no i think it's my goddamn pocket i think it's yours it needs to be yours it's something that you have

worn and not an accessory, something that you wear, you know? I know what it is. I got to find it. Okay. I think you and I do purges. I do comprehensive. So that's how you know something means something to you because it starts to fall into that. I've had this for a long time. Yeah. I'm going to keep this. Hang on. I'm going to go to, we have Eric who's joining us next. Eric, you're on the air. Good morning.

You guys rock because you can tell them a sermon the word. Yeah, wow. Jesus Christ. I want everybody to know about the bird. You bastard. You devious bastard. All right, what's up, Eric?

So two very quick things. First off, I have a bootleg Ozfest shirt from 2006 that I still wear today. My story of my other shirt, I have a shirt from the 1996 Kiss reunion show in Philadelphia at the Wachovia Center. Every city had a city-specific shirt.

And on the back it said, I was there and it had this big explosion while I was wearing it up until about five years ago. Somebody in my house, other than me, washed it. When it came out of the dryer, it looked like a 1980s heavy metal where they used to just make the bottom look like fringes.

I looked it up to go buy another one to see if they sell them. These city-specific shirts are going from anywhere from $200 to $300 a piece. Yeah, I don't doubt it, man. Yeah, because they were city-specific. Like, they had all kinds of beautiful shirts, but my eye fixed on this. It said my city. Like, I mean, Philadelphia was in big letters. If you Google these shirts, you'll see them. But, yeah, $200 to $300 to replace this. I am not surprised.

throwing my shirt away. Yeah. No, keep it. You know, it reminds me though, Preston, and I used to do this. I used to, when the counterfeit t-shirt guys in the parking lot, when they're dealing with prehistoric equipment,

Now, a lot of the stuff they do is sometimes better than the t-shirts they're selling inside. But I would get the hokiest, most ridiculous, crap t-shirt. And I started to build a collection because they would just crack you up. Some of them from time to time, though, I remember when we were doing...

uh the y100 festivals some of the parking lot shirt designs were cooler than the ones we were selling inside man you bastards i thought they were yeah that's what i have and that's what the guy the first one the guy who was giving me vintage stuff he's like do you want this shirt and i was like oh my god i have that actually wow steve in uh somewhere in the early 90s there was a midnight oil ziggy marley double bill at the man and we used to go to the man quite a bit and uh i was like

yeah sure Ziggy Marley and Minot Noel they're fun the crap rip off t-shirts in the parking lot and it had Beavis and Butthead on the back of it but Beavis and Butthead were huge at the time and I kept that one for far too long in retrospect it was pretty hideous but in 1994, 95 or whatever it was cool yeah so this is Soul Asylum and Balky for Perfect Strangers I'm going to go to John next calling in hi John you're on the air man

Hey, Presbo. Hey, what's up, bud? I got everyone beat. Early 1980s Hooters t-shirt. I was friends with David from Levittown. And I was on the, you know, I was at the bottom step of that group. You know, the first week they played out, you know, there's three people in the bar. Wow. But yeah, I still like my Hooters t-shirt. I have so many of them before, but I'm down to one. Okay. Is it something you still wear?

Only for a special occasion. Okay. Weddings. Like one of their shows. Yeah. Yeah, I haven't been to one of their shows in a while, but other shows, yeah. Yeah, let them know. Yeah. It's a good one. David knows. David knows. I see him very rarely, but I see him. We stay in touch on Facebook and stuff. Okay. Nice. All right. Thanks, Sean. Appreciate it. Oh, no. Here comes the T-shirt guy. Here comes the T-shirt guy. Yeah, I'm...

I'm curious as to what I own. I can't really pinpoint it just off the top of my head of what's the oldest thing in my closet. I'm like you, though. I will do the purges. I'm like, why am I holding on to this? I've held on to radio station shirts just to have something as a reminder of where I worked once. Yeah, I should have, but I didn't. I got a couple of those. Mm-hmm.

I definitely have a pair of pants, really awesome mesh pants. Radio station pants? They're not radio station pants. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, you know, like mesh lacrosse shorts? Oh, yeah.

Like that. When you were in Right Said Fred. Except the last time I picked up, my brother stole a pair of lacrosse shorts from UVA. And they were the best. And then I stole them from him. I found them recently. And the waistband disintegrated. Of course. That's what happens. Let me go. Hang on. We'll take a break here in just a second. But I've got Tom joining us next. Tom, you're on the air. Good morning. Sweet. Good morning. Godzooks. Godzooks, sir. What's up?

So before we go into the t-shirt, we're going back to Pearl Jam. So back in 91, Pearl Jam played at Rec Hall Penn State with the Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins. Wow. I had no idea who Pearl Jam was. We were right up on stage, and he started bragging about how great they were going to be. He started spitting on us, and he spit on our t-shirt. We had our own homemade Smashing Pumpkins t-shirt, so we tore them up with

With his spit on there. I probably could have sold that by now. Oh, wow. You have DNA. So the T-shirt, so people don't realize this, but my father used to work at Graterford Prison as a guard. The Eagles used to scrimmage the Graterford prisoners until the Eagles were getting injured too often. That's like the longest yard. What? Yeah. I've got a, I got a Bergie, uh,

I signed Bergie jersey with Bergie's blood on it. Is that? Did that happen? I haven't touched it since my dad gave it to me. I'm like, I don't know. It was probably 1985 when he gave it to me, but I think they were there in like 77. We need to do a little digging on the fact that the Eagles would scrimmage. We're sending you over to play the prisoners. Prisoners at Graterford. They used to play. They'd scrimmage. I think it was like August.

Wow. It's, yeah, yep, yep. Okay, that's crazy, man. Got the blood on it. Got the blood to prove it, the DNA. And that's the one you got a story to. All right, thanks, Tom. Appreciate it, man. Wow, I never heard that story, no. The longest yard. I find that hard to believe. We have some multi-million dollar athletes we're going to send over. I mean, it was the 70s, guys. It could be. It could be. Less contract. I mean... What? What?

I mean, they used to put them up in college dorms for training camp. Oh, yeah. It was a different time. They were not as pampered back then. Yes, but college dorms is not prison. No, I know that. I know that. I understand what you're saying, Casey. Yes, it was a different time, but I don't buy that story. Nick, maybe you know this...

In the earliest days of the Broad Street Bullies, wouldn't they occasionally send them into the bear enclosure in the zoo? Yes, they would. To fist fight bears? I do know that the Broad Street Bullies ended up in an episode of The Simpsons one time with several people who had come from hell, including Richard Nixon, Satan, and the Broad Street Bullies. It was the trial. Yeah, and Ned Flanders played Satan. Oh, that's great.

I don't think this story about Graterford playing the Beatles is true. Maybe it's what his dad told him. You know, his dad was in Graterford. I robbed a liquor store. Things got testy. I shot someone. But I got a great... I mean, it's not inconceivable, as you point out, Casey. They were a little bit more rough and tumble in those days. Maybe a good prison fight was what got them in shape. I don't know.

All right. Well, anyhow, thanks for your calls. We appreciate it. We do have to take a break. Before we do that, there was one more shout out I needed to get. And this is from our buddy Castile Kier. I say it that way. Do it again. That's his name now. That's his name now. Castile Kier. No, no, no. It's Castile Kier. Castile Kier. Yeah, that's better. My name is Castile Kier. You know why? Look, Casey, he wrote it that way in the email. Yep.

Because you said it so much. I'm just stuck on that. He said, my birthday is on June 18th. Can I get a shard out? He said, it's a great one. And I don't know what he means by that. Like, is it turning 50? He doesn't say. He doesn't look 50. Maybe. He said, I am so thankful for the life that I have and you guys are a big part of it. Thanks, big dog. Love y'all. Kyle W. Sipe, also known as Castile Kiron. What?

Here's the shout out to you, Kyle. All right, we're going to break. We'll come back in a second. And McKeever, is he here yet? I have not received any messages just yet. And Tire Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix. And we would like to welcome the co-creator, Mr. John McKeever. Yay!

How you doing, man? Good. What's up, guys? How are you? We're doing well. It's nice to see you. Nice to see you, too. Congratulations on all this, by the way. I mean, and sorry, Case, to jump in, but I mean, we were just talking briefly off air, and you've hit...

So watching season one and watching season two, and obviously you've been at this for a long time. You've been working with these people and you've done many projects. But I mean, as with any series, you know, you start to find the characters. There was a lot more progression in the way things are going. And I got to wonder for you as a creator and writer and director, is this a much more fun sandbox to play in now that things are getting fleshed out? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's way more money. Yeah.

That's the key element. Way more money to work with. Yeah. So, I mean, season one, we made it ourselves. I mean, Shane Gillis, he funded the whole thing. He built a fake auto shop. Oh, get out. Yeah. And we were just going to make it and put it online and put it behind a paywall. And...

So we were planning on making like 10 minute episodes. Yeah. And then when it was done, we were like, oh, let's just see if anybody wants it as like a lark. Yeah. And then Netflix was like, we'll take it, but it needs to be longer. So we had to like stretch the episodes. Because Delco Proper, which was, you know, obviously people remember that. Those were about 15 minute episodes, right? Yeah. They were a minute long. Compared to this. Yeah, yeah. So was that a... Because you've...

Was that a bit of an eye-opener? I mean, because you know, there's... To fill up an additional... When we first started doing this show decades ago, it was like, how the hell are we going to talk for 10 minutes? And now it's five hours a friggin' day. But when you look at that, you guys are accomplished comedy writers and performers, but still it's like, okay,

Yeah, well, when you write for 12 minutes, and then you have to make it 18, there's a lot of air in there, you know? Yeah. But this time around, yeah, we had plenty of time. We had a writer's room. I mean, last season, we wrote it in, I think, 14 days, and then we shot it in 13 days. Wow. Wow. It was a quick turnaround. Twice as many episodes, too. Yeah. This time, it was like we had three months to write it and, like, develop the characters. And I love that, man. And you really developed these characters, okay? Yeah.

And it's just certain developments that didn't even take place until five or six episodes in. Shane's character. You're like, oh, Shane loves his cousin. Even though he's always busting his balls and always kind of being a dick to him, the reality is he just wants to be with his cousin. That was a really, really special moment, I thought, in the series. It gave it...

Like more heart that I, you know, that I thought. Yeah. And I dig that stuff. I mean, the last time I was here, we were talking about, you know, our love of rom-coms. Yeah. That's kind of, that's kind of the stuff I like. But Shane likes stuff that, you know, borderline shouldn't air. So when you mash those two things together, you get like a nice outcome.

I love that. When it comes to writing, I'm sure the hardest part is probably creating it in the first place. And then once you get one season under your belt, you get to know the characters a little bit more. But there's also just more people in the room that can bring a voice to what you're trying to put together. And so just because there are more people, does that help with the creation of content in and of itself? No. I would say the more people you add to that, it's kind of Steve and I and Shane's

And Chris O'Connor is baby. So when people start to come in, they are thinking more like traditional TV writers. But the writers we had, we had Amy and Bobby and Mike. But all these people that came in and they really... Once they kind of got the feel of the show and the characters, then it became a lot easier. But it was hard at first. The first two weeks...

It felt like we were trying to write two different shows. Well, tell us about Thomas Aiden Church getting on board because that's huge. Yeah, that was huge. I was eyeing him for a while. I thought it was impossible. I've always been a big fan. And then I just, you know, long shot, reached out to him. And I think we had like a week before we had to cast it. We were shooting like 10 days from then.

And I was like, let's try Thomas Hayden Church. And everyone was like, he's going to say no. It's not enough money. Which it definitely wasn't. First of all, how do you reach out to him? What do you do? So our producer, this guy who works for Rough House, who works with Danny McBride, he knew him. He knew Thomas Hayden Church. He was like, I can text him.

So I was like, yeah, text him. Send him a GIF. It's funny. A delightful meme. So he texts him and not radio silence. So I'm like, all right, that's over. I expected that. And then like three days later, I got a text. It was like, Thomas Hayden Church wants to talk to you on the phone. Shut up. And I'm like, what? And so I'm like, yeah, of course, even if this fails, I get to hear that silky smooth voice. Yeah.

And then he called and we talked for like two hours and talked for a long time and talked about comedy and talked about the writing process. And he wanted to be a big part of the writing process, writing his character. And has he been able to do that? He definitely was. Because, I mean, he was so at first we became aware of him as Lowell on Wings. Yeah, yeah. I mean, his comedy chops are amazing. But I am...

I'm sure that his mind was rattling around the Danny DeVito addition to It's Always Sunny and how this – and you guys are on your own creating your own path. But it is a – it's a dynamic that worked. We have someone who's a little bit more of a seasoned pro coming in and just adding that little polish. Yeah, and I mean the things that he was able to add –

there's a reason he was nominated for an oscar right you know once he showed up it was uh it was a totally different beast and also i think he's one of the best comedic he's unbelievable actors from that generation he doesn't really get to stretch his legs like that no and i want to ask about a specific scene with him uh it was when you guys were having the party with the revolutionary war uh people there and and he and shane are exchanging lines and uh

Thomas Hayden Church's character says something that... And he laughs, right? And I'm like, that had to have been a blooper because it just seems so real and authentic. And you kept it in. Is that the case? Yeah, it was. But at that point, first of all, that was Thomas Hayden Church's idea, that whole scene. Oh, that's great. Because he was supposed to be dressed as something else. It's a Revolutionary War reenactment for as a promotion. Yeah, and Shane wants to dress as George Washington. And Thomas Hayden Church was going to dress as some other soldier.

And a couple weeks before, he's like, what if I'm also George Washington? And I'm like, yeah, that's actually really funny. And he's like, and then me and Shane can battle about who's the better George Washington. And obviously, he's very handsome. We got him like a fitted George Washington outfit. He looked incredible.

But then when they laughed, it was real. But at that point, they were kind of acting like father and son a little bit. That's great. So when he did laugh, I just thought like, oh, this feels very natural. Yeah. Like once in a while, like that happens. Even if you don't get along with your dad. Right. Like if you laugh, you're still like laughing with each other. No.

So two things. You have graduated, the series has graduated to, and I love blooper reels, and they're available now on YouTube. The outtakes from one and two, season one and two. It's great to see also, I think the shows that are really, really well done with a great ensemble, any one of the bloopers could have easily inserted back into the show because it has that dynamic. And I want to ask you as a director,

This kind of comedy is very reliant on pauses and looks and reactions that can be to slay you. But you got to find that gold. So how much time do you have? Because you say you got money on the show. How much time do you have to sort of play around within a scene and get that? We have a good bit of time. But each episode took like two and a half days to shoot. So maybe like three at the most. But yeah.

Last year, it was mostly improv. The first season was like 70% improv because it was just a bunch of guys in a room shooting as fast as they could. This time, it was like 70% written. We had more time to construct those moments and get those reaction shots and at least...

shoot a scene with more intention is it better to have something written that you can deconstruct yes yeah I mean 100% when you walk into the room blind it can be a nightmare you have a basis to play around with yeah man wow can I ask about you introduced us to a character named Kelly the woman's name is Veronica not even going to try and pronounce her last name what a revelation she was I hope she continues into season 3 who is she where did you find her

Uh, she's, she's really big on Instagram and TikTok. And, uh, I think she was, I could be wrong, but I think she was almost on SNL. Oh, um, she's a, she's a phenomenal. She's a whole collection of people. She's, she's very sweet. And, uh, she's, uh, I, she has a lot of range as an actress and, um, I don't know. Yeah. We, we, we found her through the casting process and I recognized her and everyone else that was looking at the auditions was like, oh, that's,

Veronica is cool. Yeah. They knew her by her handle. Yeah, I wasn't sure because, you know, when you watch this... Listen, Vince Vaughn shows up a couple of different times throughout the season. Ron White. You have a whole category. Yeah, like Ron White, Jodorowsky, you. So some of these names and faces I'm familiar with through the stand-up world, and I'm sure you know them through the stand-up world as well. So I wasn't sure if she was part of... You know, ran in the same circles that you ran in. No, no. She...

I think she's like in those circles adjacent, but I mean, I'm not really in those circles anymore myself. Right. I mean, I have two kids, so it's like, I don't go to comedy clubs anymore, but, uh, Vince Vaughn had the, uh, the Outlaws of Comedy tour, which is, so he had a number of those comedians, a lot of comedians probably that are familiar with your connections. Yeah. Well,

How did that come about, getting him on the show? Shane texted him. Shane texted him. There you go. Okay. Yeah, he just said, do you want to be on the show? And he said, yeah. And then we sent him a script the night before. And I don't know if you saw the scene, but he's got like a lot of dialogue. He does. And that's his wheelhouse. Yeah. Spitting out a thousand words a second. Yes. And I don't know how the hell he does it. He got a script the night before. And then the next day, he showed up in my hotel room.

And I was so scared because I thought he was going to be like, this script sucks. I'm going to say whatever I want. And you're going to just deal with that. And I would have been like, yes, Mr. Vaughn, I will deal with that. Yeah, I would too, man. But he read the script. He stuck completely to the script. It's incredible. There's a guy...

There's a guy named CJ Colando who used to work here in our sales department. He was an intern. And now he's like Vince Vaughn's right-hand guy. He's one of his assistants. Oh, get out. CJ's a really nice guy. I've known CJ for a while. But to Casey's point, it's funny when you run in these circles for long enough and your Rolodex, to use an antiquated term, is big enough where you can make those phone calls or you can have Shane send a text or your buddy send a gift to Thomas Hayden Church or whatever. And occasionally...

They say yes. What's your batting average for a guy saying yes at this point? Right now, it's been pretty good because it's mostly Shane. Yeah. And I mean, his star is so bright. Yeah. So the whole season leading up to it, Steve and I would both be like, Shane, we need to go out and play this. Shane. But now they've seen...

Now, in the industry, as we're just talking about this, they see Vince Vaughn, they see these people, they see John Lovitz, they see these people who are coming on and they go, oh, this has an itch of value to it. And obviously you see they're well taken care of because this stuff is...

It stands on its own. It's funny. The ensemble's solid, and they know they're going to get the support. So has anyone reached out to you who you weren't considering who's made it known that they would like to be part of season three? A couple people. Yeah. I don't think I... I don't want to betray any trust in you. Well, I officially want to say, please put me in season three.

It's one of those shows where I'm like, I want to be in that show. I think you can do it. We've got to get you new clothes, but you can do it. Oh, speaking of which, we talked to someone who worked on the show. It's part of a drag show that is appearing on, I forget the channel. Oh, yeah, Drag Kings. Right, Drag Kings. And they talked about the process of, like, we just figured you went to a

Pep Boys or whatever. Can we borrow your voice? Their name was Henlo Bullfrog. Does that sound familiar? Oh, costumes. Yeah. Talked about just dressing the costumes and buying stuff and making them look. Yeah, she did an incredible job. So that's...

You don't even think about stuff like that when you're doing a show and how you have to, now you have a set or you're replicating all this stuff and that adds cost. The entire design, we had this girl, Amber Uncle, who was our production designer and she replicated this shop so well and it looks like a lived in shop. It does. She does like tiny scuffs.

on the floor. Stuff you wouldn't even notice, but stuff when you walk in, you're like, oh, this is like, you feel like you're on a movie set. It was very impressive. I saw Shane and Steve on Seth Meyers not that long ago. We were chatting about it a little bit, John. And

Shane and Steve both shared sort of their story about how they started working with one another. And I didn't know Steve at all before the first season of Tires. How were you guys friends? How long have you known Steve? And how did he end up sort of being integral for the creation of the show in the first place?

Well, I've known Steve for about almost 20 years. And he started in stand-up. He's probably one of the best stand-ups I've ever seen. And then he quit. Whoa. And yeah, he was incredible. Why did he quit? He just didn't want to do it anymore. And there was a time where like John Mulaney's team was trying to get him. They're agents. But Steve was just incredible. And Steve always had this idea. His dad owned a tire shop.

And he always wanted to do a pilot about that, you know, that upbringing and kind of, you know, living in that business. And the show is loosely based on what his dad went through trying to sell discount tires. Because it was a lumber... That was with Delco. Yeah, but it's a similar dynamic, but this is the real... Yeah, and where we shoot it is right next to his dad's shop. Like, his dad owned the building next door, and it was empty. Oh, wow. And we were like, can we shoot in your shop? And he was like, no.

He's like, I got to be open. I'm going to lose so much money because my dumb son wants to make a TV show. He's got such an evocative, rubbery, and I mean this in a good way, for what he's doing. His face is very valuable. I mean, he can sell a pregnant pause like no one else. Oh, yeah. Steve is a goldmine. I think his...

Star is about to take off. Yeah. Hopefully. And he's a decent golfer, too. Yeah. He's like a, I think he's like a plus eight handicap. Lord. Yeah. I golfed with him last time. I was like, yeah, I golfed with him last time. I was like, we can't do this anymore. Yeah. I can't play with someone like this. I'll carry your bag.

How about that? Yeah. I play with like these two other guys. These two, they paired us up with this team of guys. And there's me, Steve, and these two guys that were clearly half drunk. And the whole time these guys were like, all right, well, this kind of sucks. Yeah. Like this guy's so good that it's boring. It's got to be boring for him too. I think we talked to Acacia with Alfonso Riverio, who's...

Very good. He's a really good golfer. He's tremendously good, and he doesn't even mince words. He's like, I will not play with you if you're not at a certain level. I appreciate that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, why be a lamb for the slaughter? Yeah, I'd rather play with my buddies who are like, we're just shooting into the woods half the time. It's like, well, we're out here having fun. We're enjoying the fresh air. If you're just tuning in, John McKeever is joining us. We're talking about Tire Season 2, now streaming on Netflix. Also, now, last time you were here, we were talking about

about the project you had done, the romantic comedy with QVC, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Holly and the Chocolate. Which, by the way, do you still have any of the hot chocolate? I never got a dime of that hot chocolate money. Now, that can be a bit of a goldmine, too, if you strike in the right spot. Are you working on any other scripts for that? Because you wrote and directed that. I mean, that genre.

Yeah, I mean, the feature space is definitely something we're trying to get into now and something we've been working on for quite a bit. So, I mean, our hope is that we can do more tires. But if not, we have some things lined up. I think it's looking pretty good. I mean, the responses are really good. And to that point, do you have a sort of wish list of the progression of the season's?

coming up? Do you have a long-term goal or are you going to take it organically as you move along? Yeah, I think we have a good arc for at least a couple more seasons that we already kind of figured out that we'd want to do. But yeah, we just need more people to tell friends to watch it. Yes, we're going to absolutely get the word out. But to Casey's point earlier also about

But when you start to populate it with something that is deranged in many levels, I'm talking about how Shane's pushing it to we can't air this. But when you do have those moments that frame it, the contrast makes the it's like putting a little bit of salt on your ice cream or hot chocolate. It.

counters it and makes it resonate more. And you said you'd enjoyed putting that in. Yeah, I mean, I'm a big heart guy. So I was more... The stuff that I was writing and Steve was writing is definitely a lot different than what Shane's writing. But we also like each other's style. So I think his style really is accentuated by ours and vice versa. So I feel like there's more forgiveness...

For his style. Right. When it's coupled with something a little sweeter. And vice versa. I think his fans are more like, all right, I'll put up with this corny stuff. That dynamic is real. That's real. Yeah, yeah. You buy some cred with the audience that may not be directly your audience. It never got too corny. No, no. I don't think that. I'm just saying like, you know, there's...

Yeah, I agree. Hey, do you cast extras and whatnot just from friends and acquaintances? Sometimes, but we have to use the casting company. Oh, okay. And that's like Harry Loftus. Yeah, Harry, yeah. And they do most of it, yeah. Dude, this made me so uncomfortable, but it was so funny. But Shane getting a gun in the beginning of the season. Oh, yeah. I'm telling you, man. I was so uncomfortable during those scenes.

Like in a very, very, very funny way. Yeah. I'm glad. I don't want to give anything away, but Shane gets a gun. Yeah, yeah. I'm just going to leave it at that. It was very, that was a very fun episode. We also were trying to keep the episode in the shop. Okay. Because, you know, the first episode back, you want to introduce the viewers to the characters again. You want to make sure you kind of establish a home base and the tone. Yeah.

and our thought was like, let's go here, let's go there. But then it's like, how do we keep him in the shop? We have to give Shane something to play with in the shop. Well, the shop is a character. Yeah, right. And we want to make sure that's introduced, and we just thought a gun would be a lot of fun. Also, the second you put a gun in his hand, he turns into Magellan with comedy. It's like he just thought of a million funny things. Yeah.

And we just, I mean, there's probably like 15 straight minutes of footage of him holding that gun. Doing everything you're not supposed to do. Yeah. And like holding it sideways and like putting it in his mouth and stuff like that. Yeah. But he says, he's like, I haven't gotten bullets yet. Right? But you don't know. Yeah. He said it. Yes. But he didn't show you the clip. Yeah. You know? Alec Baldwin could tell you something about that.

Oh, yeah. That's changed the game. McKeever, I thoroughly enjoyed season two. I enjoyed season one, but I thought season two just definitely skipped it up to a whole new level. And I'm excited and optimistic for season three. Yeah. Thank you. Nick just pulled up a screenshot of you and Steve at a WWE event. Oh, yeah. What was that all about? That was in Phoenix. So Netflix was like,

can you guys do a WWE appearance? Not to me, but to Shane and Steve. And Shane was like, no. Because he was busy. He's shooting a movie. Steve was like, I'll do it. But Steve has a hard time flying. So I said, I'll go with you.

And I thought I was just going to kind of be his friend chaperone for the whole thing. And the whole time I was like, you don't need to put the camera on me. No one knows who I am and no one cares. I don't know if you saw the comments, but people were calling me discount Russell Crowe.

Russell Crowe. Oh, that's great. Discount Russell Crowe is honestly probably one of the nicest things anyone's ever said about me. There's a picture of you holding up and toasting and you do look a lot like Russell Crowe in that particular one. But discount Russell Crowe. Yeah, discount Russell Crowe. I mean, not movie star Russell Crowe. There is another comment that says McKeever is the most underrated guy in entertainment right now. There you go. I mean, my dad has a lot of burner accounts, so...

He lights that thing up whenever he can. That's funny. I don't recall. When did you drop John from your credits? You know why I did that? Everybody was like, what are you, Madonna? Yeah. Which I get it.

But I have... I call you... But I called you... Everybody calls me McKeever. I call you John. Everybody calls me... Would you prefer McKeever? No, I mean, I'm just saying, like, when people are, like, in conversation, everyone has always called me McKeever since I was a kid. All right. Any friends, so...

I thought, A, it's way less formal. Yeah. I didn't realize it was going to be so attacked. But it also, it also, which rightfully so. I get it. I get it. If someone else did that, I'd be like, who do you think you are? Well, so I thought you were doing it tongue in cheek because they have that like, there is a McTwist or what else? McG. McG. Yeah, yeah. I found that out after I did it.

McTwist is like a skateboarding move. But McG is a director. So I thought maybe you were doing it tongue in cheek, possibly. No, no. So like I have, I think the title card at the end of the episode for my name is 2.4 seconds. Okay. So I was like, all right, I got 2.4 seconds for people to remember who I am. And if they start reading John, they're not going to read the second part. Right. Because John, like once you read John, you're like, I don't care. So I just deleted the first part.

And it's like, all right, I give you one name to remember. Hopefully you remember that one. Listen, it worked for Sinbad, right? Yeah, me and Sinbad. That was the first text I got. It was from Sinbad. Way to go, bro. Thanks for carrying the legacy. One name brothers, me and Sinbad. John slash McKeever, are you friends with Matt McCusker?

Uh, yeah. Did you know that he and Preston had a 20-year-old beef that was recently settled? Did you guys settle it? We settled it. Yep, we had him on. Oh, nice. See, I told you he's a nice guy. Last time we were here, we were talking about this. He's a great guy, yeah. And listen, speaking of nice guys, and I hope I don't blow up his spot.

But I have been told on many occasions by a ton of different people about what a nice, generous guy Shane Gillis is. Yeah, it's incredible. Right, so you see this persona on stage, and I don't necessarily think that his onstage persona...

The lies? Yeah, that. But I heard just time and time again, he is so generous to the people that open for him, the people that travel the road with him, that he is just the best. Yeah. I mean, Shane is... It's really hard to explain. I mean, with everything that we've done, he's always been...

He's always had our backs. He's always been the first one to put money up for something. And with anyone on the road with him or anyone in his life, anyone that ever needs anything, he's usually the first person to step in and help out. And to say he's generous is like a wild understatement. Okay. Good thing his friends are talented. I mean, even the ones that aren't, he looks them up too. So, yeah.

So who's the one who's not that he hooks up with? The dead weight. The Tommy Popes of the world. Who's the dead weight? But even like, you know, we'll have major companies reach out to us and be like, hey, can you... Who else do you want to have in this spot? And the first thing he says is a friend. Yeah. So it's...

time and time again, he's done it. And he's a guy that like, you know, he's done really well. He's made a ton of money. And I got to be honest, it doesn't seem like he has any interest in having that kind of money. Like when you hang out with him, it's not, it's never about money. It's never about anything like that. That sort of dynamic works well for longevity because you are...

You know, when you just enjoy the work and you do good work and you're carried along by that, the people that we've seen, you know, in radio, not quite the equivalent, but over the years who really bought their own crap died an early death, you know? Yeah, yeah. It'll just do you in. He also, he'll go to a bar and he gets hounded. Yeah. And in my head, I'm like, how do you put up with that? And he talks to every single person. He takes every single picture. He'll like,

look in their eyes and be like, where are you from? That's crazy. And it's like, what are you running for president? He's just a nice guy. You notice that we were backstage at our MMRBQ and Wolfgang Van Halen was there and he was the same way with everybody. Was he really? Yeah. That is impressive. I mean, how long has that guy been down?

doing it. Yeah, a long time, man. And I can show you this. It's a quick little five second clip that we have. I think it's on our Instagram page of him interacting with a listener. And it's like, and you can see it. It's only five seconds long and you can see he's engaged. You know, you know, there's a genuine hug. Yeah. Yeah. Genuine is the, yeah, that's the right way to do it. Yeah. You can't fake that. All right. Well, season two, Tires is now streaming on Netflix. Look for Casey in season three down the

Road. Recommended to people who are watching it, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We want to get eyes on it. Spread the word. Yeah. It's good to see you. Thanks for coming in here this morning. Thanks for having me. This is always fun. Anytime. We'll talk again soon. McKeever. Yes. One name. McKeever. Thank you, guys. We're going to take a break and we'll be right back. Stay with us. Now, back with more of the Preston and Steve Show podcast. Hi, thanks, Marissa. We have an update from a story that a guy called in with earlier this morning. Marissa did some digging while we were

in that last segment. And we were talking about shirts and apparel items that you've had for a really long time. And a guy called in and he said that he had a Bill Bergy jersey that had blood on it. And he said it was from when the Eagles used to scrimmage

with the inmate football team at Graterford Prison. And we were scratching our head going, I don't know, that sounds a little funky. Now, Marissa hasn't gotten it all figured out, but the closest she's gotten so far is a Facebook post last year on an account called On This Day in Professional Football History. And there was a video with the caption that said, October 11, 1970, Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants, Harold Jackson, 79-yard touchdown pass from Norm Snead. Now,

In the comment section, a guy named Elwood Chuck Clark commented and said, the Eagles donated those uniforms to the inmates at Graterford Prison who were in the DelVal Semi-Pro Football League. And he added, I worked at Delaware County Prison as a guard for six years and ran the gym the last four years from 1975 to 85.

and I knew some of the guys on the Graterford team. So maybe that's what this guy was referring to? They might have been wearing Eagles jerseys, right? Yeah. In their league, I guess they had, it was called the...

the DelVal Semi-Pro Football League, but maybe they're the ones that scrimmaged with the Graterford guys and this guy was wearing that Berge jersey that he had gotten that the Eagles had donated to them. I don't know. To be honest, like, when the original Longest Yard came out, and then Sandler remade it, I thought, okay, I bet you a couple prisons do this. I didn't realize that there legitimately is like a football league. I don't know if there is now or not, but I guess there was at one point.

or something along those lines. But yeah, kind of interesting. So maybe we'll find out if the Eagles themselves did indeed scrimmage with those guys or not. Wow. All right, let's get to the Bizarre Five. Now, WMMR presents Kristen and Steve's Bizarre Five. Ready?

Right here by Pella Windows and Doors, celebrating 100 years. Right now, save $250 off windows, $700 off doors, and 0% APR for 48 months. This is a very short story out of Washington State. A man was taken to a hospital for mental health treatment after...

Pierce County deputies say he threatened his parents with a chainsaw. Deputies were called to a home on Saturday when neighbors reported seeing a man chase his father in the yard with the chainsaw. They later learned the man got into an argument with his parents and threatened both of them with the tool. Tell you what, someone's getting their Xbox taken away. When deputies arrived, they tried to de-escalate the situation. The man jumped into...

The man jumped into a pond with his chainsaw and negotiations to get him out went on for about 40 minutes or so. I don't want to come out. Now, here's the thing. Unless I can bring my chainsaw. We're able to get him out with a beanbag gun and a lasso. Wow. They lassoed him.

That's like the coolest rodeo ever. The 32-year-old was taken to the hospital for mental health services and the family received sources and it's unclear, resources, it's unclear if any charges will be filed against him or not. Two things. I want to fire one of those beanbag guns and I also want to fire one of those guns like in Running Man that has the net. Also, I'm afraid of chainsaws. You guys have chainsaws? I do. I want one. I'm afraid of it, but I want one. You're afraid of it, but you want one. You got to face your fears. I know. Okay.

In Virginia, Fairfax County police had an unusual call early Monday morning. It was an alligator that was spotted outside of a motel room.

Officers responded just after midnight for a report of an animal sighting, and a caller said that they saw an alligator about six feet long outside their room. Had a hand in his mouth, didn't he? Officers arrived. Bit my hand off. Oh, my God. Officers arrived and located the alligator and its owner, and Animal Protection Police were called to assist. Investigators learned the alligator was being transported from New York to a zoo in North Carolina. They just had a little stopover in Virginia. Sure.

However, under Virginia law, the possession of certain exotic animals, including alligators, is prohibited. Police said the alligator and its owner were safely escorted out of Fairfax County. Two people had to be rescued after accidentally dropping their phones down a cliffside in San Francisco last week. The tourists were caught on the cliffside between, and here's where they were hanging out, Dead Man's Point and Mile Rock Beach.

According to officials, they tried to go down the cliff to get the phones that they had dropped. But they got stuck on the way down. Dead men's college. Crews with the San Francisco Fire Department's Cliff Rescue Unit and Heavy Rescue 1 responded to the scene to pull the pair up to safety. Yeah, that's accidental suicide summit. Neither need of personnel was injured in the ordeal.

both recited by park police following the rescue. Sometimes places are named something because of a reason. We had a dead man's hill around the corner from my house. And was it in fact a site of many deaths? Well, first of all, it really isn't that big of a hill. But we called it Dead Man's Hill. And I think the lore was that a guy was killed on that hill. There you go. I don't know anything...

I've never actually had that confirmed. So it was just, it wasn't the official name of it. It's just what you guys called it. That's what we all called it. What was that hill where the kids were getting injured on their sleds? Oh, that's Bergie. Near you. Yeah, Bergie Hill. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, it didn't have a name like that. The kid was killed over there. They had to shut it down. It was too bad because, man. It was good? Dude.

Damn, it's steep and long, man. So much fun. Anyway, in Colorado, three women were hurt when a heavy sign fell down at a popular taco festival in Westminster last week.

One of the women said, 11 staples, a four-inch gash in my head, four fractured vertebrae. I have to have physical therapy because I can't make a fist. It just feels unreal to me, she said. You can't make a fist at the same time you find out you have a gash in your forehead. Her name is Selena Toney. She took the brunt of it. She's at home recovering after a night out at the Top Taco Festival.

And she was excited to go to the festival. She had gone last year with her daughter, Jasmine. And this year they brought along her friend, Shelly, and Jasmine's partner, Marissa. And she said it was fun until it wasn't. And they spotted the large I Love Tacos sign and hopped in a long line to take a picture. She said, and the four of us went and posed in front of it. And it's really the last thing I remember. It was just all of a sudden the sign was on us. And I couldn't believe how heavy it was. It was like a Mack truck.

was driving us into the ground. Yeah, those taco signs can be heavy. I remember I kept reaching for the top of my head like I felt my head had exploded. Marissa escaped uninjured. Jasmine hurt her shoulder. Shelly's arm is bruised and scratched. But what happened next was the woman agreed was as concerning. Said it seemed like there was a lot of fighting, a lot of chaos, and nobody knowing where and what

to do. All the humanities. She said a golf cart pulled up and they were like, we're going to have to move you in a golf cart. But she was having neck pain and they couldn't get her up and walk her to the golf cart. And she's seen it went on for a really long time. They brought a trailer. They tried to move her. Then they ended up getting an ambulance and then they got a second ambulance and she couldn't get in the first ambulance. So they made her get it in the second ambulance. And there was just this thing. It's a fire truck.

Yeah. Holy cow. So, Selena is calling for accountability and answers about how the massive sign was able to fall and demanding better, clearer safety protocols be put in place for future events. But she got knocked pretty damn bad. All right, imagine walking through an African desert. Nothing but rocks, barren mountains as far as the eye can see. And all of a sudden, stumbling onto a pink refrigerator and a metal table with two small chairs next to it. What?

It sounds like a mirage. Yes. But not only is this Barbie-inspired fridge real, it also works and is constantly restocked with refreshing drinks. It's about a 20-minute drive from the main road traversing the Namib Desert.

from north to south. The pink refrigerator was installed by the Namibian government tourist board and has become one of those popular attractions in the African country. It was designed as a modern take on the desert oasis for weary travelers looking to quench their thirst.

The pink refrigerator is powered by solar energy. It's provided to travelers free of charge in the spirit of hospitality. And according to several sources, it is restocked with various drinks such as bottled water and iced tea several times per day. But because this unusual oasis has become so popular with tourists, it can often be empty by evening.

At first, people were skeptical about the idea of taking a drink out of a suspicious pink refrigerator in the middle of the desert. But after it went viral on social media platforms like Instagram, people from all over the world flocked to Namibia to check it out in person. It's actually pretty cool. I'm sorry. Did you say it was a full fridge or a mini fridge? It's a full-sized refrigerator. Wow.

If you plan to sit at the little pink metal table, remember the chairs are in the sun all day long and they can get extremely hot. So be careful. And that is what I have in the bizarre file for now, my friend. All right, let's make somebody happy. I was like, what the hell are you doing here? Yeah. Apparently he's got a show. I didn't even realize that. Oh, like Mercenose. Yeah, she's got a correction here. He played, well not correction, he played the TLA a couple nights ago. Okay. With like his, it's a side project.

Khloe says she ended up being afraid for no reason because no one has been able to recognize her since her head transplant. Ha ha ha!

All right. We will see if somebody knows the answer to the lesson question. Charlie Sheen pisses uranium and farts what kind of spice? And we're going to go to Phil, try and get an answer. Phil, good morning to you.

South of here tour, Saturday, August 16th at the Hard Rock Live at Edis Arena in Atlantic City. Those tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.com. It's cool to hear from Bill on the phone lines. All right, let's get to music news. Preston and Steve's Music News on 93.3 WMMR. So,

So, Zach Starkey, who's a former drummer, has claimed his father, Ringo, called Sir Roger Daltrey, quote, a little man over his firing. Starkey, the band's drummer since 1996, by the way, was fired, rehired, and fired again last month in a spat sparked by a Royal Albert Hall performance in March. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Starkey said that,

After the rift, his father had said, quote, I never liked the way that little man runs the band. Wow. During Starkey's last performance with The Who, Roger had paused the band's rendition of The Song Is Over after just one verse. And he told the crowd, to sing that song, I do need to hear the key and I can't. All I've got is drums going boom, boom, boom, and I can't sing to that. I'm sorry, guys.

So on April, Pete Townshend had announced in an Instagram post that Starkey was no longer part of the band. He wrote, after many years of great work on drums from Zach, the time has come for a change, a poignant time. Zach has lost a lot, has lots of new projects in hand.

And I wish him the best. But the drummer denied the claim that he had retired to focus on other projects and insisted that he had been fired after the onstage spat with the 5'7 frontman. Starkey told Rolling Stone that he had been blamed for missing his cue when, in fact, Roger had come in four bars early after being unable to hear the piano. He said he came in four bars early and he just asked for the drums to be turned up. He just little?

And he couldn't hear the piano. Starkey also added he just got lost and he blamed it on the drums being too loud. And then it got made into this huge social media thing and it freaked him out.

Starkey said that he was told that he had dropped two beats, though he could not hear it in listening to the film back. He said he was fired and that he would be reinstated if he admitted publicly to the mistake. He said, so I did. I posted this, that little toy duck playing a snare drum. And Pete Townsend called me and said, try again without the duck. I took the duck out and I got my job back.

On the band's official social media, Townsend Remote, Roger and I would like Zach to tighten up his latest evolved drumming style to accommodate our non-orchestral lineup. And he has already agreed. And he added that Starkey had, quote, made a few mistakes and he has apologized. But the drummer said he was informed 10 days later that the reinstatement was never going to work.

and was encouraged to put out a statement to say that he was moving on of his own accord. Instead, in a lengthy Instagram statement, Starkey said, I was fired two weeks ago after reinstated and asked to make a statement saying that I had quit The Who to pursue my other musical endeavors, but this would be a lie. He said, I love The Who and would never had quit.

Quitting The Who would also have let down the countless amazing people who stood up for me through weeks of mayhem. And he said, just because it's The Who, I'm not going to let you walk all over me. We've had 30 years of great music, but I'm also not going to let it F me up and I'm going to tell the truth.

He said that he was unsure where he now stands with Townsend and Sir Roger, who embark on a world tour in July. He said, I spoke to Roger last week and he said, don't take your drums out of the warehouse. We might be calling you. And Starkey goes, what the F? These guys are effing insane. I've been fired more times than Keith Moon in 10 days.

So Starkey was a family friend of the Who's Late drummer, Keith Moon, by the way, and was taught to play by Kenny Jones of The Faces, who went on to replace Moon after his death in 1978. That is weird. Listen, I... On the...

objective side of this. Yeah. They've both complained, Daltrey and Townsend, about hearing issues. Yeah. And how difficult it is now. I don't doubt that probably he got... He screwed up, Daltrey. Probably. Yeah. And also, it's not necessarily the drummer's fault. It's the sound mixer's fault, isn't it? Like...

Yeah, if he's not here. But he had said that Roger had just told him to turn the drums up. Right, yeah. And so, who knows? I don't recall ever hearing anything about this blunder at this show. No, I just remember hearing the statement that he was let go and then I didn't see much about it afterwards. But that's the story behind the story. That sounds like it might be much ado about nothing now. Coldplay is giving its whole catalog an eco-friendly makeover. On August 15th, the band will re-release every album from Parachutes to Music of the Spheres.

as clear eco records and each 140 gram LP is injection molded from about nine recycled plastic bottles collected through curbside programs. For the first time ever, our entire record collection will be issued on cow pies. The new process made only with recycled PET. Yeah, you know me. Okay.

Cuts vinyl-making carbon emissions by roughly 85% and trims the shipping weight. Coldplay first used the method on last year's Moon Music and says that this next step keeps pushing its green goals, which already include a world tour footprint 59% lower than its previous track. A new record is being released on Steam. I went to one of their shows at the Link two or three years ago and they had...

This pad that you could exercise on and ride bikes on and stuff. And the power generated by the people working out and riding the bikes helped to power some of the show. That's pretty cool. It's gimmicky, but it's cool. It is a little gimmicky. And I don't know if that show ended up being carbon neutral or not. Although the link is one of the greenest football fields in North America.

But it was not. It's a cool gesture and it's a good effort. What if it was actually just a practical joke from Chris Martin? Seriously. Just to make people do that. It's powering an auto suck. Yeah. That he uses backstage before the show. That feels great. Keep pedaling. I mentioned this earlier this morning, but we're getting our first look at Jeremy Allen White as the boss in the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere.

It's not a complete biopic as it centers on the making of his 1982 album Nebraska alongside White who not only acts but sings. The cast also includes Jeremy Strong as John Landau, Springsteen's manager. Stephen Graham as Bruce's dad Douglas. Paul Walter Hauser as recording engineer Mike Batlin. Odessa Young as Springsteen's love interest Faye and Mark Maron as producer Chuck Plotkin.

I'm glad they skipped because they had, I think he's actually a suitable choice. They were talking to Ian McKellen. I don't think it would have worked as Springsteen. The movie hits theaters. Because, Bilbo, we were born to run. The movie hits theaters October 24th, by the way. So we'll see how well it does. There is a trailer out if you want to see it now.

John Lennon famously told the world in The Beatles' Glass Onion that the walrus was Paul.

More than 50 years later, we'll be getting proof. Paul McCartney will be portraying a left-handed bass-playing walrus in the upcoming animated film High in the Clouds. You're a big old smelly goddamn walrus. It's reported that McCartney will lend his voice to Paul McKenzie, a walrus who also happens to be a left-handed bassist like the man himself and who plays in a band called The Sweets.

Getting the musician to take the part may have been easier than one would think. The film is based on a 2005 children's book that McCartney co-wrote. High in the Clouds is coming out in 2022. That's right. In a brief period, I was the Noid. So, Paul. From Domino's? Yes, that's right. No idea. Avoid the Noid. Sorry I was late. Avoid me at all costs. Yeah.

One last story. Classic horn era Chicago gets revisited with a deluxe re-release of the band's first greatest hits collection. I love that band. I know. They're fantastic. For the 50th anniversary of the release of Chicago 9, the band is reissuing the album in an expanded form. Chicago 9 Greatest Hits Expanded comes out August 8th.

The new edition nearly doubles the number of songs to 21 and will include songs from every studio album that Chicago released between

Between 1969 and 1980. When I saw it this morning, just to spend some time with them, I pulled up questions 67 and 68. What a great song. I do love the earlier stuff more. It became very Peter Cetera-ish later on. A little more contemporary. Yeah, but that earlier stuff, the jazz stuff, the horn stuff, this is amazing. Terry Kath.

Underrated guitarist. Outstanding. And his vocals. He has the more baritone lead. And they were a powerhouse of a group, man. They were progressive. They really were. Absolutely. There's a band. I've mentioned them before. It's like 50 people in this band. They're from Russia. It's Leonid and something else. And what they do is they... The music of Chicago was able to be played...

In Russia, like we have the guy who sings lyrical songs. Yeah, the YOLO guy. So Chicago is incredibly popular in Russia. So they replicate Preston with precision down to the horns. Live, old school Chicago. Nice. It's amazing. I have a question about this song. What the hell does 25 or 64 mean? I will tell you that story if you want to know. So the word is they were partying and I don't know who wrote it.

Uh, but they were, they were doing Coke. Okay. So they were, they were getting high and they were staying up really late and they were just bombed. And I don't know who it was, but they looked at the clock and they said they didn't understand the time on the clock. And they said, is it 25 or six to four?

Like 4 o'clock in the morning. That's what I've heard. Yeah. So either it was 25 minutes until 6 or until 4. And he just messed up by saying, is it 25 or 6 to 4? Meaning was the second hand on the 7 or the 6 and just messed it up. And somebody said, that's a great story.

So if you listen to the lyrics, you know, getting up to splash my face. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Waiting for the break of day. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It makes... Next time you hear that song and you're listening to the lyrics, think about somebody staying up all night long partying their ass off. I mean, listen, that's... I know that Phish has a lot of weird, goofy lyrics, but they are lyrics that...

that crack them up. You know what I mean? It's almost like inside jokes and stuff like that. So there's this one song called Push On To The Day. It's a Trey song. It's my favorite song that he ever wrote. And there's a lyric that goes, chicken on the blacktop pushing steel. And then he finally revealed what that was. And there was a guy named Chicken who was, I think, running. They were having like a football or frisbee catch and they were in a parking lot and

And he ran into a pole, a steel pole. And so that was a chicken on the blacktop pushing steel. I love little stuff like that. Nuggets. Let me read the lyrics. It's short lyrically. It's a short song. It says, waiting for the break of day, searching for something to say, flashing lights against the sky, giving up, I close my eyes. And sitting cross-legged on the floor, 25 or 64. Staring blindly into space, getting up to splash my face, wanting just to stay awake, wondering how much I can take. And then this says it all. Sure.

Should I try to do some more? Yeah.

or six to four. Okay, okay. There you go. Wondering if I, do I do another line and stamp longer or not? And then it says, feeling like I ought to sleep, spinning room is sinking deep, searching for something to say, waiting for the break of day. I would contend that the opening to Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? That horn break in the beginning is one of the absolute best ever recorded. Here we go. Casey's got it for us.

It's beautiful. They sound like pianos. Yeah, they do, don't they? I guess this is a little intro to it. But yeah, Terry Kath is the guy who sings lead on this song. What a great singer. Amazing guitarist, man. If you watch old live clips of CTA, Chicago Transit Authority, playing, you'll be like, man, those guys were the real deal. They had a depth to them. Obviously, they started off a little more

I think this is just a... Is this just a version of this? It's all piano? I have never... Here, let's... Welcome to the Armada room, everybody. I wanted to encourage everyone to try the chicken fingers. Our new Rialto sauce is quite tasty. Coming up in a second, the body of the song. Honestly, what the hell's going on here? I don't know. It says, does anybody really know what time it is? Chicago that Casey pulled up. So maybe this is the album version. This is no way that this gets played on this way.

I thought that was going to be it too. Yeah, come on. All right. So about a minute 14 in is when the song actually gets started. Yeah, the single version is only 320. The album version is 436. There it is. I did not know that little bit existed. I know this piano part. So good. Yeah.

All right. So I believe I have made the proper edit here. So I'm going to take that out. Oh. I mean. This is getting started. I know. All right. We're done. Oh. Yeah. No. All right. By the way. One more time. We have an Acura that is double parked outside.

All right, so their greatest hits is coming out in a re-release, and there's more than double the songs that were on the original one. Nice. That's it in music news. We're going to take a break. 93.3 WMMR. Foo Fighters. Big Me. It's 10.33 on this Thursday morning and our show is coming to a close.

I'm thrilled that you've been a part of it, my friend. And we'll get together and do it again tomorrow, of course. But today has been fun. We've enjoyed it. It has. Sweaty Thursday, but I'd like to thank a couple of people who came by this morning. We had a Flyers alum, Mr. Brad Mark. Yes. Brad came with Nick from Team Foster, who brought Stanley, who is the Flyers alumni service dog.

And you'll see Stanley out and about all over the place beginning this season because they're going to take him to different functions. And they have the Flyers Alumni Charity Classic weekend. It starts tomorrow in Conchie. There's like a bunch of different things being that are going on each day. There's a there's a pickleball tournament. There is a walk and run and there is a golf tournament as well. So you can check out the Flyers Alumni website, which is I think it's Flyers Alumni dot net.

Sounds really cool. I'd like to be a part of these. Yeah, and the whole crew's getting together. It's like a whole bunch of like 60 former teammates or something like that. Some that have never participated in this stuff. And so you had the generational appearances. Yep. And then we had McKeever, John McKeever from Tires, season two now streaming on Netflix. And he was great. We had a wonderful conversation talking about it.

Besides Shane Gillis, Thomas Hayden Church is now a regular on the show. Vince Vaughn. Vince Vaughn, yeah. It's really taken off. So if you haven't seen that yet, it is on Netflix. It is available now. John's got a lot of other irons in the fire, so we'll stay in touch with him about that stuff. The other thing I wanted to note is that Big Jay Oakerson is in this season, and he plays a radio DJ.

And initially, that was supposed to be you guys. Yeah. And, you know, unfortunately, just things didn't come together. But Preston and Steve were supposed to be these shock jockey type of guys. And it ended up being Big Jay. And I don't know who the other guy was. But, you know, maybe next year or next season. Yeah. We'll see. We'll see. So, Pierre sauntered into our studio.

Saunter is a good word. Thank you. I try to use it every now and then. Not too much, just sparingly. Well, I think it was a percentage saunter and a percentage sachet. Yeah, sachet is important to sachet occasionally and to saunter when not sacheting.

And occasionally gallop. No, you're right. Absolutely right. Once again, Steve, a gallop is a good thing. Not on a day like this. This is not a galloping day. Can you feel it already? Yeah. This is more of a sauntering day. Yeah. You know, I was in town yesterday and I was going into... The streets were ungodly hot. And then you'd go into a place to get a...

and it was ungodly cold. So you have this diversity in terms of the streets and the insides because most places are almost over air conditioned. And you go in and you start freezing. And then you go out and you start boiling and you go, where's my peace? Our studio used to be notorious for that. And we haven't, knock on wood, I don't think we experienced it last year either, but something got fixed. But it used to be when we'd have these oppressively hot days, it would be

freezing in here and we hated it. We couldn't stand it. It's been great. Yeah. It's been great. There were ladies in the office that would be wearing blankets in the summertime. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It wasn't just necessarily in here. So, well, on we go. Yep. Be safe with the heat. You want to do the letter of the day? I do. Here we go. Preston and Steve on 93.3 WMMR.

Now, the Daily Letter. All right, and the President Steve Show is brought to you today by the letter... E as in Emily. All right, and we will give away tomorrow a summer tiki boat cruise for up to 16 people. Set sail with Palhanna in Ocean City, New Jersey. The only Caribbean tiki boat experience in New Jersey. And you bring the drinks and the food, and they'll bring the captain to take care of the boat. And you book your travel getaway today, your tropical getaway,

Bachelorette, party, daytime, sunset cruise, whatever you want. NJTiki.com. So we'll give that away tomorrow. What will you be doing with your time today, sir? Thank you for asking. More tickets for the Hooters at the Keswick, which goes on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. That will be either your choice of Friday show or Saturday show. And the 45 actual vinyl single of the new song Pendulum.
