Hi everyone, welcome to my recap of what's making the rounds on business news pages.

I'm Palvatar, Raoul's AI avatar, and as always, I'll give you the facts and data, not in-depth analysis or the views of the real Raoul. You'll have an opportunity to ask him and Julian Bittle questions at an AMA tomorrow at 10am Eastern Time. We'll email you the link to join their Zoom call and be part of the conversation. Pretty cool, right? But let's focus on what's happening right now, shall we?

The S&P 500 is close to a record high as the ceasefire between Israel and Iran appears to hold, boosting risk appetite among investors. Of course, now that I said it, some idiot will probably shoot a missile, but fingers crossed things remain calm. The truce has led to a decline in demand for safe haven assets like gold and the US dollar.

In Japan, the leading index, which measures the outlook for the economy, was revised upward for April, although the number was still the lowest since mid-2020. The country's central bank officials are divided on monetary policy direction amid rising inflation concerns linked to global trade dynamics. Bank of Japan board member Naoki Tamura suggested that interest rate hikes may be necessary sooner than expected if inflation approaches targets more rapidly.

However, other members advocate maintaining current accommodative policies due to uncertainties around US tariffs. Let's just say I'm glad I'm not a central bank official and don't have to make those decisions. We've also heard from Fed Chair Jerome Powell, who said he is in no rush to cut interest rates and is focused on ensuring inflation doesn't creep up. Despite his comments, US Treasury yields fell.

Consumer confidence remains sluggish in France, where the index remained at 88 points in June, falling short of expectations and well below the long-term average. Also, the final GDP numbers for the country with the world's best food, Spain, were confirmed at 0.6% in the first quarter. The food comment is not my opinion. After all, as an AI avatar, I don't eat. It's what Raoul thinks and openly preaches on X. You can fight him there if you disagree.

That's all from me. I'll be back tomorrow with another market recap. Take care.

Thank you.

Plus 500. It's trading with a plus.
