Keelung Miaokou Night Market Makes Tatler List
Night markets are a part of life in Taiwan.
And now, one night market has been listed (列為) as one of the world's most famous food markets.
Online magazine Tatler Asia made a list called "20 Of the World's Most Famous Food Markets".
And it chose Keelung's Miaokou Night Market (基隆廟口夜市) as one of them!
The magazine says Miaokou Night Market has both traditional (傳統) and new street food.
Tatler also says the market is open late into the night, and many people like to go there for a late-night snack.
Many other famous food markets were on the list too.
The Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan, the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy, and Thailand's Amphawa Floating Market all made it onto Tatler's list.
And even though these places sound amazing, we have to think about safety too right?
Keelung Mayor Lin Yu-chang says there are rules people must follow if they visit Miaokou Night Market.
You can only go in through three safety gates
Everyone must wear face and eye masks and gloves.
And you must leave your name, phone number and other information, to help officials find you if they need to.
It's all part of making sure everyone stays safe while enjoying the market.
Tatler Asia
Olympic Gold Medalist Thanks Volunteer Who Paid for Cab
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
Have you heard this saying?
It comes from the story, The Lion and the Mouse.
And one person at the Olympics showed this is true, in a big way.
Hansle Parchment is an athlete (運動員) from Jamaica.
He is a hurdler
He was in Tokyo for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
But on the day of a big race, Hansle got lost (迷路了)!
He got on the wrong bus, and went to the wrong place.
Hansle wanted to take another bus to go to his race, but there wasn't enough time.
He was going to miss his big race at the Tokyo Olympics!
Luckily, an Olympics volunteer gave him some money, about $2,500NT, and he took a taxi.
He got to his race in time to warm up and compete
And in the end, he won a gold medal!
After the games, Hansle went to find the volunteer.
Her name is Trijana Stojkovic, and she is half-Japanese, half-Serbian.
Hansle thanked her, and showed her his gold medal.
He also gave her the money back, and gave her a Jamaican Olympic shirt as a gift.
They were both very happy.
And that's not the end of the story.
The government of Jamaica heard about what happened.
It invited Trijana to visit Jamaica for a week for free!
Trijana thanked everyone and said she was just doing what she should do.
