Kids Use Allowance to Buy Medical Equipment for Police
It has been many months since the COVID-19 outbreak started in Taiwan.
Most of us try to stay home, or stay away from crowds of people (人群).
But there are some brave people who can't do that.
Police have to go to many places, and face all kinds of people and danger every day.
And four children in Hsinchu want to help keep them safe.
One is a grade 3 student, two are in grade 1, and the youngest is a preschool student.
They put together two years of their allowance and Lunar New Year money.
And, with the help of their parents, they bought face shields and protective glasses for police.
The children hope police officers can use these things to stay safe while they are working.
Their parents are happy that the children can do something so meaningful (有意義).
And they say this will be a happy memory for them.
And the police are very happy too.
They invited the children to a police station to learn about what officers do.
And the police say they are very thankful that the children are so caring.
Monkey Starts Pop-it Craze
Do you know what this is?
It's the sound of a Pop-it.
Pop-its are a toy.
They have lots of small bumps
You can push down a bump, and it makes a "pop" sound.
Some people like to do that just for fun.
Some people also use Pop-its to play games.
And some people say Pop-its help them relax.
But did you know the toy was invented (發明) more than 40 years ago?
It was made by two game-makers from Israel.
Together, they made more than 190 games for kids and adults!
They made the very first Pop-it in 1975.
But not many people bought (買) the game.
Then, a monkey made Pop-its go viral.
Gaitlyn Rae is a 7-year-old capuchin monkey (卷尾猴) that lives in the US.
She is a star on TikTok, Youtube and Instagram.
One day, a follower sent Gaitlyn Rae a Pop-it as a gift.
The monkey's owner then posted a video of Gaitlyn Rae playing with the toy.
Lots of people liked and shared the video.
And that's when the toy became famous.
