Despite a major focus on earnings for the week starting Monday 16 October, economic data is also going to be a potential news maker. UK inflation and retail sales, China growth and interest rates, German ZEW and US retail sales all have the potential to move the FX markets. However, headlines around earnings will provide many trading opportunities. After three of the big US banks last Friday, the sector moves onto Goldman Sachs (GS) and Bank of America (BAC) on Tuesday. Then the tech sector kicks in with Netflix (NFLX), Tesla (TSLA) and ASML Holdings (ASML). In the UK, housebuilder Bellway (BWY) is expected to highlight the mounting pressures for the sector while Deliveroo (ROO) is also on the list of interest to retail investors.
