This historically significant instrument, previously owned by renowned violinist Joseph Joachim, is being sold by the New England Conservatory to fund student scholarships. The violin's exceptional sound and remarkable preservation make it a highly valuable and coveted item, estimated at $12-18 million. The auction is part of Sotheby's Masters Week and will feature other significant works of art. Proceeds from the sale will significantly benefit the Conservatory's scholarship program.
