The Miami Hurricanes held their second football scrimmage of spring on Saturday, April 9th, and unlike the in the first, the offense stole the show this time around. Head coach Mario Cristobal especially raved about starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who spread the football around and engineered multiple long touchdown drives. Sophomore receiver Xavier Restrepo "took over" according Cristobal, while Miami also saw receivers like Jacolby George, Key'Shawn Smith and tight ends Elijah Arroyo and Jaleel Skinner make big catches.
Cristobal was complementary of the way the Hurricanes offensive line performed and said running backs Thad Franklin, Henry Parrish and Cody Brown really stepped up. Despite being out-shined by the O, Miami's defense responded well and saw guys on the D-Line like Jafhari Harvey and Leonard Taylor force some negative plays.
Host Alex Donno also discussed Miami's newest addition in the transfer portal. Interior offensive lineman Jonathan Denis transfers in from Oregon to reunite with Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal. He's also a South Florida native out of South Dade High School, joining some of his former HS teammates at "The U."
Donno raves about Hurricanes baseball after a huge sweep against #3 Virginia and previews some new segments coming to Locked On Canes!
