Shownotes Transcript

Today I’m joined by Dr. Nikki Stamp, an Australian trained cardiothoracic surgeon, mentor, speaker and author of two books. Her first book is Can You Die Of A Broken Heart? decodes the inner workings of what makes our heart tick, how they break, how surgeons such as Dr. Nikki fix them, and what we can all do to keep our hearts healthy throughout our lives.

Her second book, Pretty Unhealthy, which has just been released is an extremely topical look at our obsession with health, and whether it’s actually helpful or harmful for our overall wellbeing. In today’s podcast Dr. Nikki and I are going to be tackling this topic and deconstructing myth from fact when it comes to wellness, where to get your health information from, and the secrets to health that have nothing to do with the latest superfood.

Topics we discuss include:

The boom of the wellness industry and if our obsession with health is actually healthy

Issues with influencer marketing when it comes to products and health advice

The bogus health claims that get us really fired up

The rise of orthorexia in society

Why exercise is super important for so many reasons besides weight loss

How to truly support your mental and physical wellbeing for a happy, healthy life
