Escalate IQ, Optic, and Lyric. Thanks for downloading my Call of the Day podcast. You too can participate in my live radio program heard weekdays from 2 to 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Sirius XM Triumph 111. Chris, welcome to the program.

Hi, Dr. Laura. Thank you for taking my call. You're so awesome. I need a little Dr. Laura insight. I have four children. Two of them are in college and two are in high school. Both of my boys in college play on the same college sports team together about seven hours from my home. And yeah, which is great. They start their season tomorrow. Why is it great seven hours from home? Why is that great?

That's not great. It's great that they're together, but seven hours is not great. Okay, go ahead. Sorry, let me be clear on that. I thought you were trying to get rid of them. Seven hours, that's great. No, not at all. On the contrary, I know. This is where my problem is. They're starting their season tomorrow. My older son was hurt for a year, and they are starting the season tomorrow. The both of them will play at the scrimmage. It's not a

screw game, I guess. And my husband and I had made plans for the season because we have two girls at home and we need to make plans to be with them and take them with us and that kind of thing to go visit the boys to do some games. Tomorrow is their first game. It's a scrimmage. And now I'm feeling very irrational about driving there to go to the game and be there. Okay, stop for a second. Stop for a second. Stop for a second.

What rational teenage college kid imagines his parents should drive seven hours to watch a game?

This is attorney advertising. No matter how much I would love my kid, there's no way in the universe you would get my butt in a car for seven hours to watch a game. Have somebody video it. Let them tell you about it afterwards. They're in college now. They're not in high school.

I don't understand why you would even agree to that in the first place. More than, oh, it's the last game, and if we win this, we win a state title. I'd get my ass there for that. Because it's meaningful, and it's a piece of history. This is not a piece of history. This is babying your boys. So I vote no, unless it's a title game and dragging your daughters back and forth. No, no, no. They're going to resent that fast.

You're right. They will. Okay. I just needed a reality check. Yeah. When it's a title game, they're adults now. You know, mommy and daddy don't have to be there all the time anymore to make them feel good and loved. You're right. You're right. Right. You're right. Okay. I was scared to make this phone call, but I'm glad I did. What did you think might happen? That was scary. Tell me. I thought I knew you were going to say no, no, no. I knew you were going to say it, but I just needed to hear from you.

But what were you scared of? I wasn't scared. I was more embarrassed at my behavior because I should know better. Oh, no. Come on. No, no, no. I'm sorry you spent a moment feeling embarrassed. No. No, no, no. Perfectly good question.

Okay. Thank you. A stupid question for which you should be embarrassed is, I married this guy last week and he beats the shit out of me and kicks my dog every day. Should I stay with him? Should we go into counseling? That makes me want to come through the phone and throttle somebody. Yeah. But that, and they should be embarrassed. Okay. But no, fortunately I've never gotten that call, but no, no, this is perfectly reasonable parenting question.

Thank you. Thank you so much. You've changed my whole trajectory on my day. As usual, thank you. Good. Take care. Bye-bye. My number, 1-800-375-2872.
