The negative externalities of recommendation AI seem neglected, and there might be comparatively effective work at improving governance and deploying better recommendation algorithms that generally keep the world on a more sane track. You might consider this a viable option if your AI timelines are over 10 years. One aspect not discussed here is why having good recommendation AIs could be incredibly beneficial.
