ABRAHAM LINCOLN, the 16th president Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated. He was shot by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865, while attending a performance at Ford’s Theatre in Washington. Lincoln died the next morning, and his assassination is believed to have been motivated by his support for Black rights. Booth was killed 12 days later.
