Radio One's All Day Breakfast with Greg James. Hello and welcome to Monday's Radio One All Day Breakfast podcast. It was the start of Radio One's festive feeling for 2024 today. So you're going to hear some very, very sweet things and also some quite emotional things. So stand by for that. Plus, we had Hayden on yesterday's quiz. We got you up to date with all the latest things. And we spoke to Evie, who's studying me for A-levels.

Let's start with Festive Feeling. Radio 1's Festive Feeling. And good morning. Welcome to the Radio 1 Breakfast Show. Monday morning, 9th of December. This is Greg James. And then after Christmas, we are doing Radio 1's Festive Feeling.

Charlie Hedges is on the road this week alongside Katie Thistleton and they're going to surprise some incredible people for Radio 1's festive feeling. Charlie, good morning. Morning. We go again. Are you safely in your location? Oh, no. What do you know? Do you know about the chaotic journey yesterday? Well, I can only imagine because of the storms and everything.

Oh no, nothing to do with that. I basically, I was travelling with your lovely producers and friends and I fell through two train doors and then my hand got trapped through the second door and I had to use my free hand to press the button to open the doors again because the sensors weren't working. And yeah, so it was really embarrassing. Wow. Are you sure you're okay to continue festive feeling this week?

I weren't sure, but I am, yeah. Those doors are hazardous, by the way. Why are they so violent? Why do they close so quickly?

I've no idea, but honestly, I've never not wanted to walk back through a carriage in my entire life. I didn't even need anything at the shop, but I just panic bought two bottles of water just so I had something to bring back. But honestly, it was the most embarrassing thing in my entire life. But we're here and that's the main thing. So, Charlie, what I'm going to do later in the week is I'm going to hide outside your house and I'm going to deliver you a festive feeling treat because I think you are the most deserving of all the people. You deserve to be cheered up this week.

So tell us about it. I mean, I don't. But if you are going to, there is a lovely bush outside my house. And if you're going to do it, you need to do it properly.

So this week we're going to sort out some Christmas treats for some people. We asked the Radio 1 listeners a little while ago to nominate people who have done amazing things for their community and loved ones and we had a huge reaction. So we're going to give something back to them this year, a Christmas treat. Every day this week it will be either you or Katie Thistleton hiding around where they live and then we're going to surprise them at their doorstep and then suddenly they're going to be live to millions of people on Radio 1. Can you give us some clues as to where you are today?

Right, I can. I'm so excited. I know I always say this, but this is genuinely, in my opinion, the best week of the entire year on Radio 1. But I can give you a few clues. So the first main clue is I'm actually at the seaside. I'm inside at the minute, but I'm looking out and it's stunning. Do you want more? So if you're a coastal nice person, you might get surprised today. So coastal. Yeah, give us something else. Give us something else. Okay, so on a clear day...

You can see another country. Okay. All right. Would you like more? Yeah, give me one more. Okay, so I need to check this one with you before I blurt out the number, but a certain bus has literally just gone past. But the number on it, I have Googled it, and if you stick the number in, you're going to kind of know where I am. So do you want me to hold off with that number? Or do you want to go for it? I want to do some...

So I want to do some detective work. Okay, so should we hold off? No, go on, give us the bus number. Go on, go on. Get in there. I'm so happy you said that. Okay, so the number 6A bus has just gone past. I mean, I'm sure there's lots of 6As. Well, there may be. Do you know what? I'm not going to say anything else. Right, I'm not going to say anything else. 6A to Coventry.

The 6A bus route, Oakhampton to Exeter. The 6A bus route, Reading Station to Tesco Depot. What does that mean? The 6A bus from Bournemouth to Kinson. The 6A from Aylesbury to Buckingham Park. That's a circular. So I think you're safe with that one. All right.

Do you want any more? I think that's fine for now. But it's a coastal 6a, so it could be the Bournemouth one. That's coastal, isn't it? Yeah. Well, maybe. People will be guessing. Oh, hang on, I've got one more. I've just seen a man walking his dog. Have some of that. Oh, well, that's giving it away then.

Yeah, there we go. OK, Charlie's in Dover, says Neil in Corby. She's in Deal in Kent. I reckon she's on the Isle of Man because you can see Ireland from there, says Richard in Hertfordshire. Is it Felix, though? Is it Clacton on Sea, Greg, says Steve the Trucker in Kent? Dover, Western Supermare. OK, let's play a song. And after eight o'clock today, you're going to be... You're hiding inside somewhere, you say?

I know I'm a fraud. I know many people listening would have wanted me in an actual tree of some kind this morning, but that is to come. I am with you all week. So, you know, not to disappoint people, but there's time for me to be hidden in an obscure place. So don't worry. Charlie Hedges. Hi. Morning. Have you moved from your previous location to a location closer to the person's house?

I have moved and I would say I'm about a minute's walk away from said person's house. Okay, this is good. It's very exciting. Where are you currently hiding? So we're hiding suspiciously down quite a busy... Well, I say it's a lovely area, lovely community, but there's a lot of cars and also a lot of people looking out their windows like...

who is this person and what is she here for? So I can see a lot of hills. I can see a massive, a mahoosive pylon.

I'm also going to do a car colour in order because there's a lot of them. Parked up, a white car, a red one, a red one, a black one, a white one and a cream one. Right. I'm also very cold. Right. I just chatted to Charlie before that song finished and I just wanted to tell the listeners what you said and you went, it's proper undercover stuff this, Greg.

But you said it all dead seriously, which I loved. I mean, as you should, you are getting into this. Does it feel exhilarating hiding out here?

It really does. But I say this to you every time we do this, but it's really nerve wracking because you guys and obviously the person that's been nominated, well, they have no idea the person that's been nominated, but the nominee is such a big deal and you don't want to blow the cover. So it's really important to obviously hide properly and take it seriously. And I mean that. So, yeah, I am taking it very serious, but I can't wait to go and surprise the person in a bit. Are you in ninja gear?

Pretty much. All black. I have got a bit of a Christmassy, well it's not a Christmas hat, but it does feel a little bit festive. But everything else, that's beige, everything else is fully black. So on this road there's obviously a person that is very deserving of a treat, but there also might be some people that feel guilty about something and it might be that they think you're about to raid their house. They might think you're an undercover police officer.

I did wave at a lady. She came out of her house a minute ago. I did give her a little wave and she sort of looked back and I think I made it worse. So I'm not going to do that. You're supposed to stay inconspicuous. Don't wave at people. Oh, apologies. I've already done that. No waving. No waving now. No more waving. Please. You need to be secret. You need to be secret ninja in the car. And then you can wave at the person when we chat to the person later. But no more waving. You're going to draw attention to yourself.

Has anyone else got to where we could be? Because I have been holding back like one massive clue, but I don't know if everyone kind of knows where I am yet or not. Go on, give us one more clue then. Area wise. Okay, so the biggest clue that I could give you is that I have seen a few minutes ago a statue of a very famous Eric. Okay, that's going to make a lot of people know. That's going to make people know where it is now.

OK, that's good. Yeah, do you think? All right. It's going to be exciting. After 8.30 today, Charlie Hedges will approach someone's house and then that person will then be celebrated and thrust into the limelight. We have Charlie Hedges hiding somewhere in the north-west of England.

Charlie. Hello. Loads of people have guessed it. Loads of people have. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Richard says, oh, I think Charlie's in my hometown. I hope it's not me she's looking for because I'm not there. It's not Richard, is it? It's not you, Richard. No. So come on then. Where are you? Paint the picture. And who are you with at the moment?

Oh my gosh. Right, so as, like you said, most people would have guessed, I'm in Morecambe this morning and I am with the nominator who, let me just tell you, is absolutely beautiful. Her name's Natalie. Do you want to have a chat with Nat now? Please, yes. Hello, Natalie, the nominator. How are you? Hello. Hello.

Hello, Greg. Yeah, cool. Cool nickname, the nominator. You do sound quite evil. Anyway, so Natalie, the nominator. Welcome to The Breakfast Show. Thanks for messaging us about this person. Before we reveal who it is and we get to the front door, can you tell us the lengths you've gone to to keep this secret?

Oh, it has been hard because usually I cannot keep a secret. But I think just knowing Rebecca's reaction and just how excited she's going to be about it, that's been enough to make me keep the secret. So like every day I see her at work, I'm like smiling at her, but she doesn't know why I'm smiling at her. Also, Greg, I've got to tell you this as well. So behind the scenes, obviously, we've been chatting this morning and Natalie, you was...

You was meant to be at her house this morning anyway, so she's even gone to those lengths to make today so normal that she was going to go around her house anyway. So when she sees you in a minute, she's going to be like... Like normal. But she's got absolutely no idea. Absolutely no idea. So they're going away today and I'm having her dog for her for a week. So I was like, oh, I'll be there about half eight.

I'll let you know when I get there. Oh, perfect. I mean, you've said the, you know, the friend's name, your friend's name. Yeah. But how do you know each other? Just so we can give a few more hints. So we have known each other for absolutely donkeys. We'll known of each other. And then I started working at her salon in Morecambe nearly four years ago. And ever since I walked through that door, we have just been inseparable. We are like chalk and cheese, but she is...

She means a lot to me. She's my best friend. Why did you actually nominate her in the first place? I nominated her because she really deserves the recognition for what she does. She does so much for the community and the people she loves and she just really deserves for something to be purely about her. She has got a heart of gold and she does everything for everyone and someone needs to do something for her.

Honestly, we say it every year, but this week is so special, Greg. It's because you're meeting really lovely people, but not only the people that have been nominated wonderful, but their friends and family are as well. I've just met said person. Well, I can say Rebecca now, because we all know her name's Rebecca. I've just met Rebecca's mum. And they're just such a wonderful family and really close. And yeah, I think it's going to be a beautiful reveal this. I really do. So are you ready to surprise her?

Yes. Okay. Yeah. Before we knock on the door, Greg, do you want to have a chat through the actual story? I do, yeah. I wanted to chat to Natalie about this. So Natalie, can you tell us, if you're happy to tell us the reason why you nominated? I know you've said that she does amazing things in the community, but can you tell us the sort of story behind this, please? So about three years ago, Becky really suddenly lost her big sister.

Obviously the whole family was affected by it. She was 26 at the time. She had a little boy who was three and she had a fiance, but she suddenly passed away and Victoria was her name. She worked at a local school, Westgate Primary School, and Vicky did everything for everyone as well. And Vicky really wanted to help the disadvantaged kids around Christmas especially. So Vicky set up a toy appeal.

through the school where Vicky would collect new toys, clothes and then Vicky herself would gift them to these families. And when Victoria passed away, Becky also lost a piece of herself and she went through highs and she went through lows and Becky took the toy appeal on and I think it's reconnected her with her sister.

and it's also reconnected her back to herself. And this is just something where Becky does every year and she just deserves people to know about the work she does because she puts her heart and her soul into this. Everything. - Stipe me off. Kiss, cuddle. You okay? - Yeah. - Gosh. You okay? - Yeah, yeah, fine. - Should we go and surprise her? - Yeah, yeah. - Are you okay? Just wanna check on her mum, yeah.

All right, shall we do this? Yes, let's do it. We should absolutely do this because it sounds like we're going to have an amazing reaction from Rebecca here, I think. These two know each other clearly very, very well. They've been through a lot together. And when we saw this story, Natalie, we absolutely had to come to Morecambe because she sounds like such a special person. So here we go. Let's do it.

Also, Greg, I just spoke to her lovely mum and she was saying good luck with this one when she opens the door because I'm not sure what we're going to get. So I don't know what that means, but we're excited. Oh, my God. Are you buzzing? Oh, the door's open. Oh, the door's open. We just give it a massive knock anyway. She just... Hi, Rebecca. Hi.

Rebecca, could we have a chat with you a second? Nice to meet you. I'm Charlie Hedges and you are live on BBC Radio 1 with Greg James and all the amazing listeners. Nice to meet you. Would you say hi to Greg? Hi. Can I

Oh my God. So Rebecca, basically we are here because your lovely friend has nominated you for being an incredible person. And we're here to give you a Christmas treat for once. So, um, you know what? We're going to come in if that's okay. We'll let you settle. Oh, bless her. Bless her. We're going to come in and have a chat if that's okay. Oh my God. Can you hear her? She's ran away from me. She's ran away from me.

That's because you're dressed like a ninja and you just burst into her house. What the hell is going on? Oh my goodness, what the hell is going on? I was like, what? What is actually going on? You'll find out in a minute. We'll come back in a second with more from Festive Feeling next. Well, really amazing scenes in Morecambe this morning. That's where we are. We're live from Rebecca's house. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning, Rebecca. How are you?

Yeah, I'm good, thank you. How are you? Pretty good. Don't you worry about me. It's that classic Rebecca asking how everyone else is. Don't worry about me. I'm going to cry already. But I am worried about the listeners. Bruce in Thirsk says, Greg, I'm in bits here. Oh my God, this is so emotional. Nick in Ellesmere Port says, I'm crying on the school run this morning. Um...

Loads of people guessed that it was Morecambe as well. And someone says, hang on a second. How can Charlie Hedges see another country from Morecambe as the crow flies islands over 135 miles away? Not now. Let's not do the logistics now. But on a clear day, you can see Ireland. So what's the scene in Morecambe today then, Charlie? What's going on? Where are you in the house now?

I have never been surrounded by so many beautiful people, honestly. Rebecca's family are absolutely lovely. Apart from Rebecca shutting the door in our face out of pure shock, which I would have absolutely done the same thing, by the way. We've been welcomed in. We're now sitting in the living room and they're just such a wonderful family. We're so lucky to be here today, honestly, and to meet you. It's lovely to meet you all as well. Thank you so much. Honestly, I did not expect this at all. Absolutely do not say thank you. You totally deserve this.

So, Charlie, let's have a chat to Rebecca a bit more and then we're going to sort out some treats, Rebecca. We're not just going to turn up at your house and just sort of annoy you and then leave. We've got some nice things for you. I thought it was a prank. No pranks. No, they told me we weren't allowed to do pranks. I wanted to, but we weren't allowed to. All right.

But yeah, so we wanted to, I mean, a lot of people have resonated with your story this morning. A lot of people are crying on the way to work and everything. And at this time of year, it's really important that we all think about others. It's a very busy time of year, isn't it? And it's a good moment to just to reflect on other people and try and look outwardly, I guess. That's the thing, isn't it? And also, I think, you know, just meeting your family this morning, obviously yourself, you can see how incredible you are, but

I mean, I just can't even imagine losing your sister, who was so special to you. - Oh, so special. - What was she like? - She was just...

There's literally no words for her. I think everybody knows her and when obviously everything happened, the whole town was shocked by it because she was just such an amazing person. She did everything for everyone and she just looked after everyone so much like they were her own, especially the children in the school. They were generally all her kids, even though she didn't birth any of them, she just looked after absolutely everyone.

But, you know, it's so amazing that you've obviously continued with this toy appeal. So, like, tell us more about that. And really, you know, it's continuing your sister's legacy. Yeah, so that's what I find the most special bit is obviously it keeps my sister's memory alive. So she used to, like, work with a lot of charities, go and get, like, toys to make sure everyone in the school had a Christmas present for Christmas. So it's like you don't realise how lucky we are.

as people sorry we don't realize how lucky we are and everything that we've got in our lives and some people just don't have that so it was so important to make sure that every child at Christmas has a present and and this is something that you are obviously going to continuously do every single year right and I'm guessing every single year the dream of how big this could get yeah you know how big would you want to go I know well this is the thing it was like I feel like

I struggled this year because I was thinking, because obviously it's getting further away from Vicky's death, is people thinking, "Oh, it's just not as important." But in our lives, we want to do everything possible to us to make sure that we keep her legacy going, but then making sure that everyone in the local community has got something to have at Christmas as well.

But the thing is, I know what you're saying about obviously, you know, as the years go on, but I feel like you guys doing something like this and you, you know, you yourself doing this and continuing her legacy, you touch so many people, whether it's people that have also lost people in their lives or, you know, we've all got a heart. We all...

we all can understand to a certain extent, you know, and I just think it's so special what you're doing. And I think when you, as soon as you lose someone, you actually find, you actually bond with other people that have gone through it as well and they can understand how you're feeling and then obviously they get involved, so many other businesses and like we try and go to like the food bank because not about Christmas presents on Christmas Day, but it's more about like people eating, about people that don't have a cooker. Once you raise money for a family that had to buy a family a cooker,

So it was like, some people don't have for them luxuries in life. So just doing this gives everyone that little bit of something of magic on Christmas Day.

How lucky are we, Greg, and everyone listening right now to meet people like Rebecca? Like on a serious note, this is, you know, this is no joke. You are a very special human being. Thank you. It's not just me. It's everyone around me. No, but again, look at that, Greg. It started with your sister. It's about you. Today, Rebecca, it is about you. I think it just makes it so much more special because it's just so hard not having that, especially this time of year, but like doing this.

keeps it all going for her and it keeps her memory alive. So, yeah, it's just really, really important that we keep it going and make sure that everyone has a special Christmas. You're amazing. That is why your story stood out to us because, you know, it is important to keep these amazing people's memories alive. So this is for Victoria as much as it is for you today, Rebecca. And I wanted just to play you something from...

Your friends and family, they wanted to say a few words about you and tell you how special they feel. You're going to make me cry even more. It will, but it will make you cry happy tears, I think, because there's some really sweet messages here.

Vicky worked in Westgate School and she loved her colleagues and her role so much that that became her whole passion. Vicky's ambition was to make sure every child in that school had a gift to open on Christmas morning. She started the toy appeal with the Blossom Salon Girls Christmas 2023 and she could not believe the response she got in year one. The salon was full of toys for Westgate School.

We lost Vicky quite suddenly and unexpectedly and the impact on the whole family was devastating. Losing Vicky shattered Vicky's whole world. Everything changed from that moment.

Losing our Vicky changed us all. Bex has been our rock through these last few years. Even though her pain was just as deeply felt, she was always there for us. Becky's really passionate about the Toy Appeal and once Vicky was no longer here, she took it on. Her passion to keep this going is second to none. Becky just wants to make her sister proud and ensure all the children have a magical Christmas just like they did throughout their childhood.

and she'll do anything for her friends, her family and the community. I just want us to know everybody is so proud of her and what she's done for her sister's memory. And Vicky would have been so proud of her, as we are. What a lovely collection of people on that just then. Yeah, that was beautiful.

I mean, dears, sorry, guys. Please don't apologise. I really just... I feel like I don't deserve this. It's everyone else that needs this. It's not me. I can't... That's one of the most beautiful things about this week. People like yourself just...

don't understand how amazing they are. It's crazy because everyone listening right now, obviously all your family that are here and everyone listening is probably shouting down the radio now, like, you are life, you are everything, honestly. This is just for Vicks. I just feel it's not about me, it's for Vicky. But do you know what? Today we're here for you and honestly, we've got a really special treat for you coming up, right, Greg? We really have. I'm really nervous, but...

Don't be. You don't need to be nervous. You're amongst friends here. It's really nice things. It's a really good treat. We'll get to that in a second. We'd love to give back to you, really, because we just heard there that you do amazing work with the Blossom Toy Appeal, and it's so impactful across Morecambe and the surrounding areas. We've got a surprise for you, and we'll tell you about that next on The Breakfast Show.

I just want to remind people listening that if you have been affected by anything we've just spoken about, there are loads of helpful resources at bbc.co.uk forward slash action line. It is Radio 1's festive feeling and we're going to be back with Rebecca, with Natalie and with Charlie Hedges next. So many incredible messages coming through Charlie and

I can imagine. My gosh. Hi, Greg. I told my sister to nominate Rebecca and I'm so glad that she did. She was picked. I went to school with Vicky and worked with her at Westgate and it's so heartwarming to see the legacy that she made being continued by Rebecca. The children at Westgate are so lucky and I'm so happy that Rebecca has got the recognition that she deserves. So many happy and sad tears shed this morning while on my way to work. Thank you, Radio 1.

Isn't that a lovely message from that person there? That just shows the strength of the community. We're hearing from everybody in the Morecambe area this morning. So if you just switched on, it is The Breakfast Show.

Charlie Hedges is here, Rebecca is here and Natalie is here. It's Radio 1's festive feeling. Natalie nominated Rebecca after she lost her sister Victoria. Now, Victoria ran a Christmas toy appeal for children in Morecambe and since her passing in 2021, Rebecca has continued her sister's incredible legacy and helped out so many families at Christmas, making sure that as many kids as possible get a present on Christmas Day.

Rebecca, I'm sure it's a little bit overwhelming, but are you okay? I'm just about, yeah. I'm coming round a little bit now. I can't believe I shut the door in her face. That was really funny. I'm very pleased you did that. So, look, we've played you a collection of messages from people in your community, in your friends, in your family, but we do have something else to give you now, don't we, Charlie?

Oh my gosh. Is it time? I'm nervous. Good job. I'm sat down. I think it's time. Okay, okay. All right. Now this is very exciting. Okay. So first again, firstly, thank you so much for everything you've done for your family and obviously the community in Morecambe and Lancashire. You're a beautiful person. Thank you to your wonderful friend for nominating you as well. She's just on a slowly vest. But today's about you. Now we know that you tried to get tickets for something and you couldn't.

You are now going to see Oasis because Oasis and Radio 1 have sort of dropped for their huge hometown show. It's at Heaton Park. That's amazing. And partner's cheering. Everyone in the room cheering. You don't know if you're going yet. I haven't watched it yet. Oh, my God. That's amazing. We've literally tried and tried and tried. We know. And tried. We didn't get them. But that's made of Christmas. Oh, God. It'll be buzzing.

Well, listen, enjoy your little treat. Thank you so much. Thank you, honestly. No one needed to do this. Like, it's just, it's not about me, but like you say, honestly, I'm just taken back. I'm just taken back by it all. Well, thank you for allowing us into your home as well. I would say thank you for welcoming us, but... We didn't drink after this. Yeah, but we didn't really get a welcoming, was it? No.

But no, on a serious note, thank you for being a very special person. I feel, you know, really blessed to have met you actually. No, thank you for everything that you do as well. It's amazing. And you've made my Christmas. You've made mine. So thank you very much. Thank you. Go Greg. You are a legend. Thanks for letting us barge into your house this morning. And you are an amazing reminder to everyone listening and everyone in this room and me,

that this time of year particularly we should look out and look out for others and look at those who are less fortunate than us and you really are the spirit of Christmas and your work is incredible, it's inspiring. So Rebecca, thank you and enjoy Oasis. Oh my God, it's going to be a meltdown. Thank you. See you later. Thank you. Let's play an Oasis song as the first song on the 10-minute takeover. Should we play Don't Love Me If You Anger? Oh my gosh, you have to.

Yeah, let's play it. Let's do it. Have an amazing time at Heaton Park. It's going to be so, so good. She said she's not singing it. I think you should. I think there should be a sing-along in the house, actually, at this moment. Oh, absolutely. I'm about to start that. Yes. All together now. Flippin' slide, yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't you know you're my fan.

Just going to fade that out there. Incredible story today with Rebecca. And thank you to Natalie for nominating her. And a huge thanks to Charlie Hedges for going around the country. Tomorrow we have Katie Thistleton hiding somewhere. So come back for more amazing stories, uplifting tales and inspirational thoughts tomorrow on Festive Feeling Day 2.

Next up, let's do yesterday's quiz. And let's quiz. Hayden, good morning. Good morning, Greg. Welcome to the Radio on Breakfast show. Welcome to the quiz. How are you? Yes, great. Thank you. Yourself? Pretty good. Pretty good, actually. I love this time of year. How's life in Frezzingfield? Yeah, it's all good, thank you. Yeah. Tell us about Frezzingfield. Well, it's just a small village just over the border into Suffolk. Have we got a load of farmers this week, have we?

We have, but they're not all from Frettingfield. Okay, well that's okay. We welcome everybody. So tell us about your farm then, Hayden. What's going on? Because we've shouted you out a few times before, haven't we? Yes, we have. We have met before on Cowboy Time as well. Oh, God. You're not the one that ended it, are you? No, I'm not. No. I was about to hang up on you, Hayden. So yeah, well, it's nice to chat to you again. So tell us about your farm. Take us into your world for a bit.

Well, I work at home and we have about 160 suckler cows. Then we have a little bit of arable as well. And to keep myself busy, I also feed cows on a dairy farm. A lot going on, Hayden. A hell of a lot going on. I know. I'm just having a look at Frezzing Field online. There's a camel park. Yeah, that's just down the road in the next village, actually. What's going on there? Why have you not told me about this before?

Let's just say I didn't particularly enjoy going there. Why? Did they spit at you?

No, but... They're camels, aren't they? They're not that interesting. Well, I don't know. I think they are fairly interesting, but then you're biased because you work with over 100 cows, so you're pretty sort of immune to big animals. But anyway, all right, let's get on with yesterday's quiz. So we've got a lot of... Are they rival farmers or are they friends of yours? No, they're friends of mine from North Elm and Young Farmers, and we've got another one from Dis Young Farmers as well. Nice. Well, big up the Young Farmers as ever, and the old ones. We welcome all farmers. FIRE!

Let's do yesterday's quiz and we should have some dingers. Yes, we do. The Christmas dingers for you, Hayden, obviously, because it's in the rock to Christmas. So here we go with all your questions. 90 seconds on the clock. Are you ready?

Yes. Then let's do it. This will contain spoilers, this quiz, because of stuff that happened yesterday. Here we go with question number one. It was the final episode of I'm a Celebrity last night, but which McFly star was crowned King of the Jungle? Danny Joe. Yes! Which 17 going under got a fan called...

Oh, yes, Sam Fender, correct. The finalists for Strictly Come Dancing were revealed after the 11th celebrity was eliminated yesterday. Name any type of dance, please, Hayden. Rumba. Yes. The winner of the Ethan Slater lookalike contest was crowned over the weekend, but which wicked actress is Ethan Slater currently dating? No idea, pass. Ariana Grande. Which London team maintained their five-point lead at the top of the Women's Super League with a victory over Brighton?

Chelsea. Yes, that is correct. Which singer launched a new fragrance called Mi Espresso? Oh, what's her name? Sabrina Carpenter. Yes, the world's oldest bird, aged 74, laid her first egg in four years. Please do an impression of a 74-year-old bird laying an egg. Good. I think I'll give you two points for that. The official chart First Look was on Radio 1 yesterday, but which singer currently has the number one spot with her song That's So True?

Gracie Abrams. Correct. It was National Simon Day yesterday. Can you name a show that Simon Cowell was a judge on? BGT. Yes, Prince Goddard. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix took place yesterday, but which McLaren driver took the win?

Lando Norris? It was Lando Norris. Which former member of Ndubs says she's sorry to miss the I'm a Celebrity finale after abruptly flying home? Yes. Jungkook opened up about a personal YouTube channel. Oh, no, no, sorry. Just opened up a personal YouTube channel. He didn't open up about it. He just opened one. Which South Korean band is he part of? Oh, no. Um...

Blackpink? No, it's not. It's BTS. It's the other really big famous one. And New Zealand lost to which home nation in the men's international test series yesterday? England. That is correct. Big win for England. There you go. Good quiz. Bosted. What did you say? Bosted. Oh, Bosted. I was going to say. Something else. An unbelievable outburst that would have been.

No, because I was going to say you did very well, actually. 12 points. 12 points today. Are you happy with that? Yeah, that was my target, to be fair. Oh, really? That's good. I should have asked you what your target was. I think that's a decent score. It is a decent score. Yeah, what do you think about the rest of the team? Are they going to be stiff competition?

I'm not sure. We'll soon find out. Hayden, very nice to chat to you again. Have a great rest of the day today and maybe we'll get you back on in the final on Friday morning. Fingers crossed. What was your first port of call today? Was it cows or what? Well, actually, I haven't gone to work yet. I might be a bit late, but Dad won't mind. Dad won't mind. You're on the quiz and you're shouting about the farm and farming and that's fine, isn't it? Exactly. Hayden, have a good one. Speak to you soon. Thank you very much. More quiz tomorrow. One.

Time now to speak to Evie. Evie, good morning. Good morning. How are you? I'm pretty good, thank you. You've been doing your mocks, haven't you? Your A-levels. Yes, I have. And you sent a message last week and I gave you a shout out because you were studying something very close to my heart, weren't you? I was. What was that thing?

Radio One Breakfast Show. Oh, I know a thing or two about the Radio One Breakfast Show. I am obsessed, by the way, that it is on the syllabus in certain places, this breakfast show. That is quite mad. It is, you know. You're just that good. Well, or I've been here for so long that they've decided to put it on the syllabus as a thing to study. But look, so some questions for you, Evie. Were you a listener before you were told to study it? I was. Okay, so you went in there feeling pretty confident that you'd know your stuff.

Yeah, I was like, it better be a good question. And it was. So the, obviously they cover, they will cover lots of serious sort of BBC things and Radio 1 things and licence fee things. But was there any, what was their homework sort of set that you had to go and just listen to it? Yeah. So they were kind of like, we'll just revise. I was like, well, you know, I could just listen to the breakfast show that counts as a revision, doesn't it? So,

So I did that and I did some of the boring revision as well. So, win-win. The thing I... Obviously, it's flattering, isn't it, for the whole Breakfast team? And it's flattering for Radio 1 to be studied. That's nice. But what I'm worried about is that it makes it into a not fun thing when it's supposed to be a very, very fun thing. But, like, studying the fun thing sometimes might take the fun away. Do you hate it now? Does it remind you of work?

No, I don't. I still, I just love the breakfast show because it's like, you know, as much as it's boring, there's fun in everything, isn't there? Yes, but I hope it hasn't sort of tainted. But that's the mantra of the show. You're right. There's fun to be found everywhere. There's always some fun to be found. Okay, well, that's good. So what's the mocks? So the question went well. You think you did it? You think you nailed it? Either going to come out of it an academic weapon or an academic spork. We're just going to have to wait and see.

I think maybe an academic weapon. I'm hoping so. This means that loads of people would have been having their mocks sort of now-ish. But then I guess the final exam is summertime. Is that May, June time, is it? Yeah, I think there's one paper in May and then there's one in June. So there's quite a while between them. I feel like I should help here. I feel like I should be involved. I can help people studying this show. I should do some sort of seminar or something.

I think you should. I think we can make that happen. Maybe it needs to be, maybe it's virtual so everyone can do it. Or maybe we just have a, maybe we just do a big lecture theatre and I just do a lecture and maybe that'd be helpful.

That's a great idea. I think that would benefit so many people. Well, I want to be of use. I want to feel useful. So if this is being studied, then I can definitely help. Well, maybe we'll try and... We should do some sort of stupid plan for the summer. Maybe me being... I'm just trying to think, doing a lecture or a seminar. There's something. There's something we can do with that.

We could find somewhere. But for now, Evie, I want to check that you've revised the show properly. I'm going to give you a quick quiz, OK? OK. OK, here we go with some questions that we've just come up with. This is what I hope the exam was like. I don't think it is. But here we go with question number one. What was the name of the duck I had a funeral for? Long Boy. Correct. What's the quiz called that we do at the start of the show every day? Yesterday's Quiz. Correct. Two points. Sing the unpopular opinion theme tune. LAUGHTER

Come and give us your unpopular opinion. Something up to... Now that you've been scared to say. Yes, very good point for that. Okay, two more. A lot harder to sing than you think. See, this is what I hope the exam was actually like. This would be way better, wouldn't it? This would be class. Who does the dingers for yesterday's quiz? Oh, I don't know. It's a boy and he does the dingers. His name is...

No, it's the dinger boy. No, it's not. It's the dinger boy. Okay, let's do one more. This is tricky. This is a tricky one. Which guest on the show famously sent his regards to listener Harry's lizard? Not entirely sure. Think lizard, think natural world, think famous person who might be talking about lizards. He was helping with someone's eight-year-old Harry's homework.

icon of the television who said, give my regards to your lizard. No. No. It was, of course, Sir David Attenborough with this wonderful moment. Bye, Harry.

Goodbye. Give my regards to your listeners. That was brilliant. I think that was not bad, though. You got three out of five, which is pretty good, which does show that I do need to do that lecture just to make sure that you're absolutely watertight. Just to get those last two in. Exactly. It's the difference between a B and an A, I'm afraid. Exactly. Well, Evie, thanks so much for being on and we'll catch up soon. If you're up for helping with those plans, I think we should do something stupid in the summer. You're up for it.

Oh, I'm so up for that. Great. Okay, well, good luck for the rest of your mocks and have a good bit of time off over Christmas as well. Thank you very much. Just before you go. Oh, please, yeah, go. Just want to say happy birthday for the 17th because we actually have the same birthday. Oh my God, birthday twin. Legend. That makes you a legend. Thank you. Do you love having a birthday on the 17th? Isn't it the best? Oh,

Oh, I absolutely love it because I forget about Christmas. It's my birthday first. Please and thank you. Yes, and also everyone's really happy and in a good mood, aren't they? So they're up for a party. It's all Christmassy and it's cute. Yes, thank you, Evie. We were not represented enough in the mainstream. Actually, Christmas birthday people are actually great and it's all fine and you don't need to ask us if you get one present. Don't worry about that. This is not the point. I'm going to give you Star Listener fanfare. Evie, thank you.

Thank you very much. Merry Christmas and happy birthday for the 17th. Thank you, you too. And from Evie, we now get you up to date with all the latest things. Okay, here come some spoilers for I'm a Celebrity. I'm going to give you a heads up right now. It's a very difficult position to be in because this show is all about the things that have been happening. So it's not my job to get you up to date with everything, but if you don't want to ruin it for yourselves, then I'm just telling you now. Okay? 30 seconds, then come back. After 23 days...

It was between Colleen Rooney and McFly's Danny Jones. Colleen talked about how much it would mean to her if she won. It would be an honour to be crowned Queen of the Jungle, you know. But I think for the boys to be, you know, they've been proud of their dad for so long, so to be proud of them all will be nice, mighty enough. They should be proud of their mum, she's a legend. In the end...

Where did it go? The winner of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here 2024 and the new King of the Jungle is Danny! It was Danny! Congratulations to Danny Jones. Very nice man, very well deserved. And that means that Dean and Melvin will be back to the UK this week. So they'll be back on the radio as soon as possible. Looking forward to seeing them both.

Next up, Sabrina Carpenter has released a Christmas special called A Nonsense Christmas. And some people are dubbing her the new queen of Christmas. And she had a very, very good opening monologue. There are comedy specials and there are music specials and there are holiday specials. But who does musical comedy holiday specials?

A lot of people. But do those specials have celebrity guests? Yes, they do. Everyone with a musical comedy holiday special does them with celebrity guests, and this is one of those. And one of those celebrity guests was Chapel Roan. Her and Sabrina did a great duet of... I gave you my heart last Christmas I gave you my heart with the very next day this year

Saving from tears, I'll give it to someone special. Sounding lovely, Wham's Last Christmas. And after an insane 152 shows across five continents and 51 cities, Taylor Swift has finally ended the era's tour.

Producer Amy, I'm going to bring you in here just to check. Is it welfare check? Yeah, I've been better. You okay? I texted everyone this morning and so I was a bit sad. I cried in the cab. It's okay. If you need to take five minutes, that's fine. Please, thank you. Or if you want to take ten minutes and listen to the ten minute version of All Too Well, that's also fine. So, is that it now? It's done. The Iris tour is no more? She's done. She won't be like, oh, only joking, it's coming back next year? I hope so. That would make my day. No, but you can't end a thing and then bring it back. Text her.

You can't end a thing and then bring it back immediately. Yeah, you can. Do it. Send her a message. So far, it is over. Vancouver was the last one. It started at four o'clock this morning. Loads of people are very tired today, including Amy, who has been watching it on TikTok Live. Here's a bit from the final speech. It has been the most exciting, electrifying...

That is wild. Amazing achievement. Cam, that very famous dancer who does the ad-lib during We Are Never Getting Back Together,

He did the London one. Do you remember this? Are you mad? And he did the final one today. For the last time. How many of those shows did you see? Five. Amazing effort. All right. I'm going to... Should I try and DM her? Please.

Are you sure it's over? It's a bit weird. You have a blue tickle, be fine. That's weird. All right, with that, you're up to date with all the latest things. And finally, let's talk about some of our Christmas traditions that we must not forget about. A bit of Christmas admin for you. We need to do all the Christmas bits and I've got a bad memory. So I need you to remind me of all the Christmas bits that you enjoy. The little Christmas traditions that you might hear on The Breakfast Show.

For example, this one from James in Cambridge who says, Greg, can you bless our ears with the operatic version of Wham's Last Christmas? Oh my God, I love this. Yes. I actually haven't listened to it properly yet this year, but I do often do the... When I hear Wham.

It's the Vienna Radio, my face is aching already with smiling. It's the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra doing their version of Last Christmas. If you've got a favourite bit that you want to hear again before the year's out, then let me know on 03 700 100 100 and we'll play them out on The Breakfast Show. So what's your favourite Christmas bit? This might be my, we might have peaked too early with this one, James. Enjoy.

Oh, if it's the first time you're hearing this, I'm so jealous. You're going to love it. It's going to brighten your Monday so much. MUSIC PLAYS

The crowd. I would have been in tears if I was watching that live. It's beautifully done. It's just surprising, isn't it? Tell me, baby, do you recognise me? Favourite bit. I just turned on. What the hell is this, Craig? Well, it's a wonderful rendition of Wham's Last Christmas by the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Get them in the live lounge, Greg, one year. Oh, I would love that. I'd love to join in. Johnny and Isabella have just texted in. Johnny says, my daughter's just said the woman sounds like a turkey. Sam the engineer in Sonsman likes that. Jade has had her morning brightened up by that. I told you. I told you. Should we? I think we should play the real one, shouldn't we?

There you go. That's the end of today's Breakfast Show podcast. Thank you for listening. I'll be back with you tomorrow with another festive feeling, plus all those things, plus, you know, all the good stuff. So just come back then. Bye.

And in 2017, Miranda, a university tutor from London, joins a yoga school that promises profound transformation. It felt a really safe and welcoming space. After the yoga classes, I felt amazing. But soon, that calm, welcoming atmosphere leads to something far darker, a journey that leads to allegations of grooming, trafficking and exploitation across international borders.

I don't have my passport, I don't have my phone, I don't have my bank cards, I have nothing. The passport being taken, the being in a house and not feeling like they can leave.

You just get sucked in so gradually.

And it's done so skillfully that you don't realize. And it's like this, the secret that's there. I wanted to believe that, you know, that whatever they were doing, even if it seemed gross to me,

was for some spiritual reason that I couldn't yet understand. Revealing the hidden secrets of a global yoga network. I feel that I have no other choice. The only thing I can do is to speak about this and to put my reputation and everything else on the line. I want truth and justice.

And for other people to not be hurt, for things to be different in the future. To bring it into the light and almost alchemise some of that evil stuff that went on and take back the power. World of Secrets, Season 6, The Bad Guru. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.
