BBC Radio 1. Radio 1's All Day Breakfast. With Greg James. Hello and welcome to Monday's Radio 1 All Day Breakfast podcast. This is Greg James and it's mega massive Monday. We'll get into that in a second. Before that though, we had some clearing up to do after the pitbull gig and let's start the show with this. Callum Leslie, hi. Happy Monday. Hi.

I was hoping to derail you during the news. Yeah. But I didn't think you... You didn't see me on the camera until when? I looked up just as I was saying, this is Newsbeat, it's now seven o'clock. You started chuckling. Yeah. Why are you chuckling? Because what I'm looking at is, well, the absolute double of a certain singer that we may have seen on Friday night. There's a bald cap. There's a pair of aviator sunglasses. There's some headphones, which is a great addition. Yeah.

I'm basically looking at Pitbull's twin brother. I spent a lot of the weekend walking around the house dressed as Pitbull in the bald cap.

Because I've bought the bald cap now and I'm going to make the most of it. Do you know what? They're hot though, aren't they? They are quite hot, yeah, because it is latex. It does really heat you up. Yeah. I mean, obviously Pitbull's real head isn't made out of latex, but these ones are. But yesterday, you know when you have a little sort of burst of, oh, I need to reply to a few people? I was just replying to people with a photograph of me in bed dressed as Pitbull. Good.

And it's quite good, I think. It's like, oh, I hope you're doing okay. And then the full debrief. Let's talk about Pitbull. Yes, let's do that. Mr. Positive, Mr. Worldwide.

You make money. Money don't make you. I was told off so many times over the weekend by Bella because I was walking around the house either in a bald cap. Yeah, not great for hard on that one. And glasses or just sort of saying things like if I walked into the kitchen, I'd go just checking in, checking out, darling. And she's like, can you stop saying darling, please? I can't stop saying it. It has become me.

Chloe's in Wigan and says, how amazing was Pitbull, Greg? I fear my life only is downhill from here. Bald caps and fireballs all round. Yeah, I've been wearing my bald cap this morning in honour of the great man. I've been thinking about it all weekend. Yeah. And I think it was the greatest night of my life. Yeah, it's difficult to argue with that. So, let's... Shall we tell the story of Friday into Saturday? I think so. So...

Let's do the debrief. So this was... We were all excited to go because we've heard his music for years and we were like, oh, this will be fun. This will be a funny night out watching a couple of good songs. Yeah. But I'd say within 10 seconds of the show starting...

I was like, oh no, there's nothing funny about this. This is just amazing. Yeah. And he is a great showman. Yeah. Live band as well. Great band, great dancers, great lights, great pyro, great confetti, just all of it. Fantastic. I don't think I've ever been less sure in my life about what's going to happen in the next 30 seconds. If you tried to predict what was going to come next, just no way. Well, so the day started with me running out and getting some bald caps.

Because it was thanks to Jess in Kent who was listening on Friday and said, I hope you got your bald caps and aviators ready. And I thought, oh my God, of course. There's like a movement. When you go and see Pitbull, you dress like him. And so I went out to a fancy dress shop on Friday afternoon, went and got, I bought eight. That's all he had. And the guy was like, I'll give you 10% off that because you bought eight. I was like, thanks very much. So there I was, pocket stuffed with bald caps on the tube to the O2. And...

There were so many people on the train dressed as Pitbull. It was a lot. It was unbelievable. This is a proper movement. This is a cult. So we got there and everyone dressed as him. I'd say 75 to 80% of the crowd, 20,000 people, by the way, dressed like Pitbull. Yeah. It must be quite overwhelming for him. And I'm really pleased that he addressed it. Now, I want to say...

A special thank you to everybody that came out with ball caps here tonight. I appreciate y'all. It is amazing to see you. It's amazing to feel. And I hope that when y'all put on those ball caps, you feel just like I do.

I think it feels a bit like a fever dream. Did it all happen? Was it real? It was. We were in Pitbull's world for a night and it was a really great world. So the beginning of the show took me by surprise. Took everyone by surprise. Yeah. The band, he wasn't on stage. The band come out and they play a Metallica song. They play Enter Sandman. And then they start playing Beastie Boys' Fight For Your Right To Party. And then he jumps up from the back of the stage and goes into a rendition of Don't Stop The Party, which sort of changed my life.

It was the best opening of a show I've ever seen. Yeah. And by the way, in this, you'll hear me losing my mind and singing along. By the way, I'm wearing a bald cap for this bit.

is it electric i've never seen the o2 like that that's exactly every single person was up dancing i've never never seen it like that for anybody from floor to the rafters everyone jumping completely full yeah and i have i've been to the o2 as a big brag been to the o2 a few times i've never you're right i've never seen it quite like that there was just something about it was it was electric in there and there was wisdom there was the hits but you get the wisdom

Actually, in the cold light of day, I don't quite follow that one. No, that doesn't really make sense, that one, does it? I don't quite get that one. I followed it like two-thirds of the way, and then, yeah. And I'm with you. I'm with you. Okay, I like the energy of it.

I mean, it was just all the hits. I just was laughing all the time because I was enjoying it that much. Yeah, and my face hurt on Sunday morning because I was so happy. Now, let's talk about a slight sadness. So the plan was that he'd invited me to his hotel, motel, holiday inn to do an interview with him the Saturday morning. The mics were ready. I was really, really tired and hungover.

I had my bald cap with me. I dressed as him. I was just about to leave the house, like limp out of the house, being like, oh my God, this is so early. This was a dreadful idea. And then a text came through saying Pitbull had cancelled. I know. Now, we were all very upset on the Breakfast Show WhatsApp group. How did you feel in that moment? I was devastated. That was going to be the morning of all of our lives. So he then got really...

apologetic about it, we heard from his team and he asked for my phone number. We then met up later in the afternoon, Callum, and I'll tell the second bit of the story next. So the interview was called off on Saturday morning. It was sort of predictable. He was having a great time

We heard from his team that he found trouble sleeping on Friday night. Me too. Joined the club. But apparently he didn't get to sleep till quite early in the morning because he was still on a high from the show, jet lag, all the rest of it. So he felt terrible about cancelling. So they gave him my number. And I was with you in the pub on Saturday afternoon. Yeah. And this LA number called me.

And this was one of his managers called Tom. He was like, hey, Greg, it's Tom from Armando's team. That's his real name, Armando. Oh, OK. He was like, it's Tom from Armando's team, Pitbull, a.k.a. Pitbull. I was like, oh, hi. He was like, I'm just going to patch you through to Armando. I was like, OK, this is cool. It's basically like hold for the president. Yeah, it really is. So he said, I'll patch you through. And as he was trying to patch me through, another call was coming through.

from a 305 number. Literally Mr. 305 because that's the Florida number, the Miami code, area code. So I was like, Tom, I gotta go. I think he's calling. I think he's calling me. By the way, I'm outside my local on the high street. Just the normal world going on. The fact that you said to us in a normal pub, having a pint, sorry, I just need a nip outside and Pitbull's gonna phone me. What? Sorry? I was just looking at everyone going about their days and I was like, you don't

I'm on the phone to Pitbull here. So he calls and I go, hello. You know, you just try and make it play a call. Hello. I was trying to be breezy. And he said, hey, Greg. I went, yes, it's Armando. I went, hello. Oh, hey, mate. How's it going? Had a really nice chat. He was so apologetic. He was so sad that he messed up the interview on the Saturday. And he...

We just spent a few minutes just talking about it. It was like, thanks so much for your support over the years. It means a lot to me. Did you feel the energy in the show last night? I was like, you're damn right I felt the energy in the show last night. We're still buzzing. And he said, look, we'll have to sort something else out. He went, the universe is telling us that it wasn't supposed to happen today, but it's going to happen in the future. It's going to be even better than before. We're going to throw in a little extra something for you. And I was like, I don't know what that even means, but

So the upshot is it's going to happen later in our lives. Very exciting. But he was very apologetic and speaking to him on the phone was completely mad. And I told him about the O2. I told him about everyone wearing the ball caps. I said I was wearing a ball cap. I said I've got my ball cap in my pocket.

and he will be on The Breakfast Show on the phone this Wednesday. I said, look, if you can't do it in person, because I was like, where are you now? He was like, we're heading to Paris in a minute. So I was like, okay, well, can you do a phone thing? He was like, of course, we can do the phone. We can sort that out. There's no problem. So the phone is going to happen on Wednesday. We're going to chat to him on Wednesday. I just think, what a 48 hours for you.

You know, you had the gig, we all loved that, everyone's buzzing, we're in the pub, and then that happens. It's too much. I just don't think that'll ever be bettered. Well, I said... Until you get to meet them. When I got home, Ben, I said, how was the pub? I went, Pitbull called me. So, yeah, plans afoot. You'll hear it on this podcast on Wednesday morning. Finally, Mr Worldwide will be checking in and then checking out.

Next, let's have a quiz. Sam, good morning. Good morning. Welcome to the Radio On Breakfast show. Welcome to yesterday's quiz. Are you excited and ready for the day? Yeah, very excited. You have an exciting day ahead, don't you? Tell everybody what's going on. I do, yeah. I'm off to a new job at 8.30 sharp. Pretty exciting. It's a good first day bit of trivia to say, oh, I was on the radio this morning. Will you disclose that today or will you wait a bit?

I've already told my new to-be boss. So, yeah, I think it's a good, interesting fact. It is a good, interesting fact. So you're an accountant by day. You live near Hereford or Herefordshire. And the most exciting thing about you, from my perspective, is that you do you run a cricket club? No, we're all just part of it as one big team.

All one big village mess. So I guess it's sort of scrabbling around on a Friday, sometimes Saturday, sometimes Sunday morning being like, anyone fancy a game? We've got two people who dropped out. So we'll turn up with nine and then a couple of the others can come and field for us and all the rest. Does that happen a lot? Yeah, and playing in the farmer's fields and the likes. Yeah, it's all very village. But quite beautiful a bit in the Herefordshire countryside playing cricket. It's quite peaceful.

Yeah, no, it is really good actually. So it's Woolhope Cricket Club, is it? Yes. Okay, big up Woolhope. And are you doing furious winter training? We actually start this evening, so I think I'm probably going to get quite a ribbing when we go tonight. And also, tomorrow you will barely be able to walk properly because all the muscles that you never really use when you bowl, you're going to be so achy tomorrow.

Yes, the shoulder is going to be sore, I think. Well, Sam, it's a little warm-up for your very exciting day, so we're going to get you to do yesterday's quiz. Thanks for bringing your team to the radio this week. So we've got 90 seconds on the clock, a load of questions about stuff that happened yesterday. You're a regular listener at this time, are you, so you know how the quiz works? Yes, I am, yeah. And do you normally do quite well when you play along?

Usually reasonably well, but I think this might be quite a humbling experience. Well, you're opening the batting today. All you need to do is just be solid. Anything above 9 or 10, I'd say is solid. Anything above 12, 13, really, really great. Getting the innings off to a great start. So here we go. Do I have some dingers? Yes, I do. Okay, here we go. 90 seconds. Your time starts when you give me your first answer. Question one. Which famous Timothy became the youngest ever winner of Best Actor at the SAG Awards?

Timothy Chalamet. Yes, we're off. Pakistan and India were facing off in the ICC Men's Champions Trophy, but who won? India. They did. Bridget Jones was top of the UK box office still, but who plays Bridget in the film? Don't know that one. It's René Zellweger. Yesterday, well, Sunday, name me something I would use to protect my skin from the sun, though. Sun cream. Yes. A fat beaver in Chicago needs naming. Please give me your best impression of a beaver with its mouth full.

That's pretty good. I'd give you two points for that. Newcastle faced Nottingham Forest, but who won 4-3? Newcastle. They did. Scientists revealed that they want to drill the deepest hole ever. But how deep is the deepest hole ever drilled? Is it 40 feet or is it 40,230 feet? 40,230 feet. It is. Aston Martin unveiled their 2025 F1 car. Can you name one of their current drivers, please?

Alonzo. Yes, Fernando Alonzo. It was reported that an Australian rocket will be blasting off with what on board? A jar of Vegemite or toadfish from neighbours? Vegemite. It is a jar of Vegemite. What time was it this time yesterday? 7.19. Yes, it was. The moon was in its waning crescent phase. But what's the name of our moon expert on the show? I don't know. It's like Shawn Mendes, but changed Mendes to moon.

Pass. It's Brashon Mendes. Yesterday, it was Emily Blunt's 42nd birthday, but who's she married to? His actor. It is an actor, yeah. I'll accept his famous character name from The Office, or I'll accept his real name. Who was he in The American Office? John Krasinski, a.k.a. Jim, from The US Office. And the French men's team beat which nation yesterday to stay in the Six Nations? Italy. They did, yes. All right. Good sneaky point at the end, Sam.

And I don't think it was too bad. I was bowling you a couple of times

A couple of testing ones just outside the off stump, and I did get you to nibble at a couple of them. Yeah, from a number 11 batsman that's easily done. Ah, okay. Yeah, we should have stated that. Well, actually, appropriately, you got 11 points today. There you go. Oh, perfect. Yeah, good sort of tail-ender score. Nice one, Sam. Thanks for being on today, and I hope it all does go well today at work, and we'll catch up with you later in the week, okay? Thank you, Greg. Cheers, more quiz tomorrow. Cheers, cheers, cheers, cheers. Bye. Oh, we liked Sam. Nice man. Did well.

11 points on day one will go again tomorrow. And next up, it was Mega Massive Monday. So here are the highlights of the first few rounds. Let's get ready to do Radio 1's Mega Talk Track! Are you ready for it? Mega Massive Battle Track! Yeah.

It's a good name. It's not a catchy name, but it is a good name. That sounded so exciting, though. What are you putting on? Well, I've been given a weird costume of sort of cuffs. It's a stripper's costume.

I think all of our costumes are from her. I was just going to say, who bought these? It's going to say a lot about the person. And from where? I think it was produced in Sophie. Oh, of course it was. Which makes a lot of sense. Greg's just putting on his synthetic gloves. What are they called? Surgical gloves. Surgical gloves, yeah, yeah. I don't know why. Apparently, apparently.

Apparently, it was explained to me, because I did want to know. I'm a man who demands answers. And apparently it's because in, like, Ultimate Fighting Championships, they wear them just in case anyone spills blood. Well, it's not in case, it's when, isn't it? Right. It's a when. Yeah, but that's not... We're not going to do that today. No blood today, Philly. No, no, no. That's one of my rules. How easy on me, man. Only bad blood between the two of us. Good. Let's just say that from the off. There will be no bloodshed today. Please. Yep.

So, Radio 1's mega massive battle tracks. It is Charlie Hedges versus Matt Edmondson. I am the referee. As the day goes on, we're going to hear from loads of amazing Radio 1 listeners and they will decide the winner based on your sales of each song. And remember, the rules are 30 seconds to sell your song. Do not say what the name of the song is or do not even hint at who the artist is. If I hear so much as a hint...

I will disqualify you. Lexi, good morning. Good morning. Hi, Lexi. Happy Mega Massive Monday morning. Happy Mega Massive Monday to you. As everyone said on the way into work today, everyone was saying, hey, Greg, happy Mega Massive Monday to you. They've been saying it all month. So happy Mega Massive Monday to you, Lexi. So you've got a big job. You are first up. I know. And you're going to be...

You're going to be choosing between Matt's song and Charlie's song to kick the whole thing off. So round one is going to be Matt and Charlie. Then we're going to have Swazi and Melvin. Then we have Ricky and Nat and then Dean and Jerry all happening on today's show. Basically one battle every half hour on Radio 1 today. So make sure you've got BBC Sounds downloaded. Make sure you're listening to Radio 1 through your smart speaker as well, please. OK, so that's important. Very, very important. Yeah.

So, Lexi, I don't want you to have anything in your brain apart from the here and now. I don't know if I mentioned it, but I went to see Pitbull on Friday. And he's very present, OK? He deals with what's in front of him in that moment. Don't bring into this any baggage you might have for and against Matt or Charlie. This is very much on the song that's happening right now. So are you OK with those sort of parameters for you?

I'm absolutely fine. I think we're ready to kick it off and set the bar for the rest of the day. All right. Are you ready to judge, Lexi? I'm ready.

Matt Edmondson, are you ready to go first? Yeah, happy to. As it's your game. Yeah, I would love to. Let's go, let's go, let's go! 30 seconds. Matt Edmondson, your time to sell the track starts now. Let's see, this is what we need this morning. It's the ultimate party vibes from 2013, which will require you to get your bald cap at the ready. Now, I knew I'd struggle against Charlie's musical pedigree. Famously, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. So I have had to call for reinforcements, and if you don't trust me...

Trust Molly King. Gregory, I believe you have a little clip.

Charlie, I absolutely adore you. You know that. But I know Matt's track and it has to be played out today. I love it so much that whenever we play it on our show, I am... I'm afraid that's time up. Greg, you were slow on the button. I said to Greg beforehand. Excuse me. I wasn't six seconds slow and there's six seconds left. Can you at least play? I think you were two seconds slow. Can we have the next two seconds? Insist on playing it twice. It is an absolute

I love you, Molly King, as well. We love you, Molly. Thank you for doing that. Oh, I'm meant to be mean, aren't I? Charlie Hedges, are you ready for yours? I am. OK. 30 seconds.

Your time starts now. This track blends drum and bass with elements of rock and electronic. It had a massive impact on their career in 2010 and still sounds big today. The only way the volume is going, if this gets chosen today, is up. It comes with so much energy. I've played it on dance anthems. To hear this on a rainy Monday morning would be the ray of sunshine we need today. But you know what? Matt is one of the nicest people in the world, so I'm a winner either way sharing the radio with him and Molly today. However, this is one of my favourite songs of all time. I don't know anybody that doesn't like this song.

It is incredible. Oh, the timing. Wow. Oh, that was good, Charlie. Yeah. Thank you. She did it in time, Matt. That was very good. She did it in time. I tell you what, my heart's racing. Mm-hmm.

I feel this is very, very difficult because they're quite close, aren't they? 2010 and 2013. I feel like 2013 is probably a little bit more my era. Although Charlie did say this was a good song for a rainy Monday and it is looking miserable out there. So it's a great way to kickstart the day. But then...

The fact that Matt got Molly on, I love that. And she is an absolute queen of pop. So that's kind of where I'm sitting at the minute. There's a lot, let me tell you, there's a lot of tension in this studio. I really, I really want this to go my way. Not just for me, but for my best friend Molly. What I am going to say is, is that everyone needs cheering up today. On the way in on the train, everyone just looks really miserable. And I'll be honest with you, I don't think I've ever heard... Stop now. We've had the pictures. Okay. Sorry, Sir Alan.

Lord Sir Alan. Oh, is it Lord now? He is a Lord, yeah. Oh, sorry, Lord. Lord and a Sir. Lord Sir Alan. Lord Sir Alan of the Alan-ness.

We've had enough of this. All right. Get yourselves out of here. I'll make my decision in a minute. No, actually, Lexi's going to do it. Lexi. I was going to say, hang on a minute. I think it's my decision, right? Yes. I've lost complete control of this. Do you know what it is? I couldn't press the buttons because of these stupid gloves. Oh, that's what it is. Take them off. Take it off. It's a poor workman that blames his tools. And also I forgot. But yes, mainly the gloves. So, Lexi, what's your decision?

Okay, my decision, even though it overran a little bit, I've got to go with Matt's 2013. Hopefully top banger. Matt Edmondson wins the first round. Yes, Matt. I'm telling you, this is going to go down so well, quite specifically in this room. Well deserved. Will I need my bald cap? You will need your bald cap. Before we play Matt's choice, let's hear what you could have won. This was Charlie's choice. Oh, it's good. That is a two.

listen let's see your choice no sure choice and it was a good choice and you had to go with molly and obviously i'm mad first winner on mega massive battle tracks today and through to the next round is matt edmondson lexi thank you thank you

Bring on that harmonica, baby. Let's go! Let's go! What a tune. Absolute tune. Well done, Bert. We're ready for another battle. Just found these things. What's that? Versus. Oh, I want bass. There we go. It takes a while. Yeah.

I just tried it out during that song and I was like, I could just say it quicker. I suppose it builds attention though, doesn't it? It does, it does. But we don't need it today. We don't need it because there's a clear winner. Georgie, good morning. Good morning. We've got a proper battle on our hands here. Welcome to The Breakfast Show. Are you ready, Georgie, to do some judging?

I'm ready. Good luck to both of you. You too, Georgie. Can I just say you have a beautiful name? No, you cannot. Thank you. No, you cannot butter up the corners. You're just saying the name's beautiful. You've got a gorgeous voice. The meaning actually means farmer, Georgie, or earth worker. I'm being such a fan of that name since birth. I'm going to lose my rag as the referee here. Apologies.

Complimenting the name. She's going to, you know, she's going to root what she sows with this one. Ignore this, Georgie. They're just trying to curry favour. Swazi. Yes. Do you want to go first? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Let's get this done. 30 seconds to sell your song to Georgie. The winner gets played and goes through to the quarterfinal. Your 30 seconds start now. One, two.

Georgie, you're a babe, and this one is for you, my love. This is feel-good vibes through and through. I'm taking you from your Monday desk to the dance floor. I'm hitting you with that heavy bass line, and we're going to go all the way. But I know that you're a gym babe, and this one in the gym gets me through another rep, another set. Let me just say, Melvin's come in jeans, my girl, yeah? He ain't ready for this. He ain't ready for the battle. This is funky. This is everything that you need. Let's get the party going. Monday, this is the medicine. Let's go!

Wow, that was good. It's made me want to just go home. You should just do this. Just do the whole show with that. Georgie, I locked in with you. I locked in with you. I was like, I know my babes. I know what she's going to want. I've got to say here. That was good. The panic on Melvin's face. Can I go up against Ricky, please?

Let me guess, Ricky's choice would be you'll never walk alone. We get it. Okay, so that was pretty, I mean, it was pretty good. It was amazing. Thanks, thanks. Incredible. You lit up the radio station there, Swazi. Melvin. Yep.

30 seconds. Time starts now. Georgie, Borgie, Pudding and Pie. Now, the tune that I'm about to pitch is actually a tune that started off as a freestyle, but it was so good, they had to release it as an official track. It's from someone that we all know and love. They always bring the energy, they bring the vibes. A bit like Swazi, but better. Now, we need this tune on a Monday. Lyrically, this song is perfect for a battle set, and it will all make sense when you play it, because this is the winning track, and this is a tune that you need to hear all the time.

on your day to day and it deserves to win. I love you, Georgie, and pick this tune from me. Thank you so much. - Oh, I love you, Georgie, oh! - The talking is over. What do we think? Let's cross to Georgie now. And you've got a day at the gym, haven't you planned today, Georgie? That's your sort of quite- - I have, yeah. - Quite luscy day. - I've got a day at the gym ahead of me, so I need something that's gonna motivate me. It's a really tough one. I'm really torn here.

You know what, they both had really good pictures. Swazi said she was gonna bring the feel-good vibe. But then Melvin said the lyrics in his song are really good and it's a winning track. So I am really torn here. It's a tough one. I like Melvin's choices usually.

music. Okay. But then Swirly's also said it's a dance floor banger and it is going to motivate me in the gym. So I am really undecided on this one. It's tough. It is decision time. So. Okay. In that moment, let me just remind you, in that moment, who made you feel something? Who gave you the little like, oh yeah, I wonder what is the song going to be?

Okay, so I think there's a lot of pressure on me. I feel like I'm making a big decision on behalf of all of the listeners. You are. But this time, I'm going to go with someone who brought so much energy. I can't deny that. And that person was Swazi. Swazi wins! Wow, wow, wow. Swazi straight through to the quarterfinals. Yes!

And she's being ungracious in defeat. Melvin held out the hand and you refused and instead you stuck your tongue out and put your thumb to your nose. No, you deserved that. It was a great pitch. Melvin, let's hear a bit of your choice. Oh, come on. Yeah, tell him to shut up. Yeah, tell him to shut up. I mean, you have. Oh, I do like that one. That would have been so good. It's a tune. However...

We get Swazi's choice and enjoy this. Swazi, congratulations through to the quarterfinal. Amazing. We've got another one of the group stages now. Very important though. Very a lot at stake here. A hell of a lot at stake. We've got Nat O'Leary.

Who wants to make her mark on this competition? Sorry, I thought it was starting then already. We're in it. You know I'm on edge. Calm down now. We've got Ricky Hayward-Williams who needs to, for the good of the name of Ricky Melvin and Charlie, needs to pull this out of the bag. Yeah, yeah. I think in times like this, there's only one thing you can do. That's step up to the plate, man, and deliver. Let's hope you've got it in your locker. I'm like the mailman. I deliver. Mark, it's a difficult choice ahead of you. You're going to get two Radio 1 DJs.

Desperate for your love. Very desperate. We're a group of people pleasers. We just want to be loved, Mark. It's true. Okay, so 30 seconds. Now, Lyra, you're going to go first. Are you ready for this? No. Marky, I love you. Okay. Here we go with Nat's...

30 seconds. Your time starts now. Okay, two musical titans collide. One from the pop world and one from the dance for an explosive track that is possibly the best collaboration of the 2010s. The song is pure energy, laced with nostalgia and a drop that even Danny Howard would be proud of himself. You're going to want to sing this at the top of your lungs. Trust me, you're going to know all of the words to it. This music video made 10s fashion. We all went out and bought the t-shirts. You can't deny it's an anthem. You can be the bad girl herself. Pick me if you want to have a mega,

30 seconds done. Very good, Nat. I'm actually out of breath and a bit shaky. I've never had so much adrenaline at one time. I think I might need to go and lie down after that. I wonder what Mark slash Matt is thinking. We'll find out in a second. Ricky, you're up. Are you ready? Ready. 30 seconds. What you got? One.

Okay, Mark, there have been some great choices so far this morning on Battle Tracks, but none of them are as huge, as monumental, as massive as this song. A multi-award winning song by one of the world's greatest of all time. It's so good. Not only is it legendary in music, it's legendary in movies as well. You will know most, if not all the words. It's the perfect song to start your Monday. Trust me, Mark, it's an absolute banger from the greatest rapper of all time. Pick my song. It's absolutely huge.

OK. Time up. That was fire. Thank you. Thank you. You don't make this easy, do you? So, Mark, it's decision time. It is, indeed. What are we thinking? It's certainly a tough one. You both sold absolutely perfectly, as I said.

Nat had a bit more energy, but I don't know, Ricky seemed to pitch it a bit better. Don't forget I'm half Scottish. And don't forget I'm doing this for Melvin and Charlie as well. Forget Melvin and Charlie. Nat did call me Matt. Hey! She's going to retain herself by having the half Scottish connection. So, oh, it's a tough one, guys. It's a tough one. Remember, the future of RMC is in your hands. That is very true. Ricky, Melvin and Charlie are finished. Let's take it home for the brave.

Oh, God. I'm going to need a decision, please, Mark. Come on, Mark. Right. I'm sorry, Nat. I'm picking Ricky. Yay!

Ricky, Melvin and Charlie are saved. Do you know what? We still have one engine. We can still fly. Firing on one cylinder. It's all good. It's all good. No, no, thanks, Mark. You deserved it. You actually really deserved it. Commiseration is that. You're a worthy, worthy... Sorry about that. But you are going to be gutted when you hear my song. I'm just going to say it. Nat's choice was this. Oh, good. Come on. Oh, no, that's a good one. That is a good one. I'll get that. You're gutted, aren't you? It's a tune.

Ricky's choice is this. Radio One's Mega Massive Battle Trash. Oh, yeah. Oh, no, I definitely didn't make a mistake. I'm happy with it. That's what I'm talking about, Mark. You're a winner. It's an absolute no-brainer. No-brainer.

You've smashed that, Mark. Have a great day. You too. Enjoy, folks. Thank you. Shannon is in sunny Belfast this morning for the next load of battles on mega massive battle tracks. It is Dean McCulloch and Jeremiah Asiyama. Good morning. Head to head. Morning. Face to face. 30 seconds. Dean, let's go. One, two.

Go now? Now. Okay, so this song was released in 2006. This is the climax song of a smash hit teen movie, Shannon. It's a song about letting go and believing in yourself. So, Shannon, believe in me and this song. You'll know every single word. It's the ultimate Monday morning sing-along banger and the whole country is going to be on its back wheels with this one. I promise you, we can do a duet together and we can ride into the sunset as you pick my song. Please, Shannon, I love you and Belfast is amazing!

I loved it. Good sell. Shannon, you'll love it. I love it. I'm buzzing already. It's very intense. You went to a very intense place there. Jay, feed my heart. Feed my heart. This means a lot to you, Cleetie, doesn't it? That's not exactly your heart. It's more your rib.

It's made of a rib. It proceeds to touch his belly. What? Okay, Shanna, no thoughts just yet because Jeremiah Asiyama is about to step up and throw his own punches. Jerry, you ready? I've got more than punches. I've got uppercuts and hooks.

and jabs. 30 seconds. Your time starts now. All right, this song is a classic released in 2004. Now, it's a soundtrack to a movie called Anyone But You, but right now, it is all about you and the Radio 1 listeners. Now, this song is so big that we included it in our Radio 1 Top 100 Songs of 2024. She's a sister to a garage legend who made one of the most greatest garage tracks ever.

of all time and the track song is called get through this and today this morning we have got to get through this together i promise you this is an absolute tune you're gonna love it and everyone in the world is gonna sing it together with me good timing good that was so good jerry tricky you're a tricky customer yeah referee jerry i do this almost every day no you're a tricky customer tell you why why because you know what you've done there yeah you've given a song title out but it's not yeah it's not it's not that song title exactly

Don't know what I think about that. Referee, referee. What do you think about that, Shannon? If you want to give me a red card, it's fine. I don't know. I want Shannon to give us her thoughts. What did you make of it all? I feel like Jerry was sneaky there. It was sneaky. Could have been sneaky. But I also think Dean gave some hints too. Did he? I think Dean's were maybe a wee bit more better behaved. But Jerry, that was tight. You were cutting it on the edge there of the rules. More cryptic, I'd say. But that's the idea of the game. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely. Guys, let's not fall out.

It's not for now. Okay. So, Shannon, thoughts? I need a decision for you. I'm torn currently. I'm having a big think about it here. Dean came on. He was saying he was just here for the vibes. I think he might have wanted a wee easy morning, get away early. You know that, Jeff? So...

But when he came on, he really did sell it. It was good. It was intense. He was saying all the right words. He was appealing to the, you know, teenage me, going for the big 2006 teenage hits. Yeah, very good. But Jerry then came on and went even older. He went in 2004. There was more kind of buzz about his, he really believes in his song. It's a hard one. It is a hard one. Shannon, it's decision time. Are you going for Jerry's choice or are you going for Dean's choice? A choice.

a spot in the quarterfinals up for grabs here. What is your decision? I've thought long and hard for the last 30 seconds about this and I think I think I'm going to have to I'm going to have to go with Dean. Oh yes! Shannon, my homegirl! Wow! Loyalty! Shannon, I promise you you won't regret it. I'm excited. I'm looking forward to it. Let's find out. So this was Geri's choice. Geri

Oh, my God, I love this song. Jerry! It was the other bedding field. Yeah, it was the other bedding field. Made the words that you cannot find reaching. Talented brother and sister duo. Dean, this better be good. Do you know what I'm going to say, though? In my sets, I dropped that as a wee curveball and then my song straight after it. So it's kind of like we were thinking the same thing, Jerry. So what is Dean's song then? Let's have a listen to the clip. We're breaking free. Come on! Oh, God.

Yes, Steve. Yes, Shannon. Are you happy with the High School Musical? The Estine. That is the song. If there was very few that could beat Natasha Bedingfield, but I think you managed it. Nice one. Come on. She's happy. Jerry, commiserations. I am going to be hanging my boots up for the rest of the year, so I will see you in 2026. And I'm just going to put it into my little form.

It will be Ricky versus Dean in the quarterfinal. Oh, no, I'm definitely going out in the next round. No, Dean. Positive. Positive mental attitude. Shannon, have a great day. Thank you. Bye. There you go. That continues all day today on Radio 1, so make sure you're locked in to that. As I said earlier, I can't call who's going to win. I think it's Matt's to lose, obviously, because it's his game. If I had to pick someone, probably Swazi, just because I think it's good vibes. Who's winning, Liberty? Oh.

I'm going to go Matt. Tom. I'm going to go Dean. Amy. I'm going to go for Ricky. I'm sticking with Swazi. You could go for a Danny Diston. You could go for a Cusack. You could go for an R.A. Go for a Charlie T. Danny Howard. Danny Howard. Vicky. Sean O'Leary as well. That's going to go one of two ways, that, isn't it? It's going to be either low energy, and everyone's going to be like, well, no, I'm not going to pick that. Or it's going to be low energy, and everyone's like, oh, yeah, it sort of stands out. James Cusack's out already. Okay, discount the Cusack.

He's been coosacked from the game. Well, we'll find out tomorrow, won't we? I'm going to go and have a piece of toast. Bye-bye.
