What's up everybody, welcome to the podcast. Although that is the last time we're probably going to say this, not because it's the last podcast, but because we got a name. Yes, this is the episode we teased you all with. We have gone high and low. We have hired expensive consultants. We reached out to Apple's marketing crew. We borrowed their truck and went on a re-run.
regular jaunt around America trying to find the name. We have our new marketing name here, our new branding, and I'm not going to be the one to announce it. I think that this honor should go to Jeff and he will also explain it a little bit because, well, you will see. Hello, Jeff. How are you doing, buddy?
I'm doing just great. Yeah, we came up with, we really workshopped this forever. Yep. Came up with a name that we think it's going to be perfect. We think you're all going to love it. We spent a fortune on this, right? Yeah.
Oh, yeah. Fortune. Tons of money. Tons of just late nights. Yeah. Just really racking our brains. All the feedback from the listeners that we asked for, that didn't turn up, actually. We hired that one guy that redid the Pepsi logo and had all the crazy diagrams. Yeah. And then had this idea for like, oh, wait, let's call it New Pepsi.
All right, go for it. All right. So the new podcast name for this podcast that we've done together that we've been working on for several weeks at this point. Oh, yeah. Brand new, completely original branding that we've come up with is the Compile Swift podcast. Oh, damn. That's good.
That is... I was thinking, like, man, it's classic. It's simple. It's straightforward. It's brilliant. Why didn't we start there, right? Oh. I think we did start there. Wait, wait, yeah. Yeah, okay. So... There's a story here. Of course. There's always a story, right? Yes. This was... So, actually, I feel like... Somebody has a story. I feel like... Yeah. I mean...
I can't justify this. I'm not going to try and justify it. I'll just explain it, and then we'll let the judges decide. All of this, of course, was because I wanted to expand the content beyond just Swift, right? And that's how it started. And then, yeah.
So to be clear, right? It's kind of like the branding subtitle here is old name, same new content, which just doesn't, you know, it's like those weird chip flavors that they bring out for a couple of weeks, right? You know. So yes, that's what we're going with. We decided that...
It was right the first time. And we should never have let that idiot access to rename the podcast in the hosting. We banned that guy. He's not coming back. He's on an island somewhere. Something like that. Yeah. Never shall my evil twin ever be let in front of the microphone again. So, yes, folks, that's what it is, right? We decided, look.
it was working okay you know why why why did why did we let peter do what peter did it seemed like such a good idea and then you know reality but but the reality is in all truthfulness right um being serious for a moment it did just work the first time around and that that in in a way was part of the
The success and the problem, right? Anytime you have something that, you know, like I said in that episode, look, I don't want to be known as the CompileSwift guy. And that's what happened. On the plus side, everybody knew what CompileSwift was, right? And so it also worked. And then after we, you know, discussed it and Jeff had very kindly pointed out that, you know, it was working, you know.
So we decided, okay, let's go with the original name. Sometimes in order to prove a point, all you need is a nice chart. Yeah. And this is the... So, you know, actually, you say that and you point that out because we should tell folks. There's another number on the chart. Well, in general, the line on the chart suggests that there was a big...
Biggish, consistent spike growth. Bigger than it was before when Jeff joined the podcast. And it's okay. I don't think that's actually true. Actually, it is true. When you look at the numbers, it's like, oh yeah. Look at that first 30 days of each episode. And...
Funny enough, for the most part, right? I mean, the other earlier episodes that were just me, they have similar numbers, but it took a lot longer to get there, right? And so it really is true that when you joined us, oh my God, I'm talking in the third person now, right?
The numbers, the first 30 days, sort of the average has gone up and stayed there. And not to say that this is all about the numbers, but as you accurately point out, sometimes they tell the story, right? The truth is that things got...
A lot more interesting when we have two hosts, right? And I think we all knew this and we all felt this, right? In fact, Jeff and I had often said, you know, some of our favorite podcasts are when it's more than one person. Not that one person isn't interesting, depending on what they're talking about and so on.
But it's much more dynamic when you have two people, especially if they have two different viewpoints, which is what works so well for us. I have my viewpoint, and then Jeff points out the correct viewpoint to have, right? Jeff points out the flaws in your viewpoint. Yeah, same difference, right? And then I edit it down so that there's less pointing out of those flaws. Right.
So, not a long episode here, folks, but we wanted to put this out. So that's it, folks. There you go. A short episode here, but we wanted to make sure that this super important topic...
was clear and understandable, and we could all point to this in the future and go, yeah, that's where it got weird. Right? So that's it. That's what we've got for you on this one. There's lots of things to talk about in the coming episodes coming up. Other than that, as always, you can find me, if they let me back on the keyboard, at peterwidom.com and all the stuff that I do there. Jeff, where can they find you? You can find me at kokotape.com.
All right. We will see and speak to you again next time on the Compile Swift podcast. I know it's going to be hard to get used to, but just roll the clock back about, what, four months, and you're fine. See you again soon, everybody. See you.
