Today, on the A I daily brief, anthropic becomes the latest A I company to cozy up with the U. S. government. And before that, in the headlines, and A I painting is sold for over a million dollars. The AI daily brief is a daily video in podcast about the most important news and discussions in A I to join the conversation fall that discard, like in our shown notes.
Welcome back to the AI daily brief headlines s edition. All the daily AI news you need in around five minutes. IT is the end of a very consequential week, and one day when he comes to new launches and new products has been a little bit quiet in the world of the eye.
You got to think that people didn't want to compete with the U. S. Election show when I came to announcing anything of significance. And yet there are some really interesting stories this week, notably that an A I artwork has sold for a million dollars.
The r work was called A I god and was by A I to robot, who said, he said, was the first humanoid robot artist have an artwork sold at auction? Southery had anticipated that the pending itself, between one hundred and twenty thousand and one hundred eighty thousand. So this massively outperformed.
So the is ultimately, he said that there were twenty seven bids for the art and that the sale quote launches a new frontier in the global art market, establishing the auction benchmark for an artwork by a humanoid robot. The artist, A I A robot, said, quote, the key value of my work is its capacity to service catalysts for dialogue about emerging technologies. The work invites viewers to reflect on the god like nature of the eye computing, while considering the ethical and societal implications of these advancements.
Notably of the subject was alan turing, who is a coaker during world war ii and an early computer pioneer. Really interesting stuff. And of course, the question will be, is this a one time novelty? Or will we start to see this type of our show up at auction again? Next up, we move over into the legal RAM.
OpenAI has scored a small Victory. One of the copyright lawsuits its against OpenAI has been dismissed based on a lack of damages. The federal court has dismissed the case brought by story media and alternate media against OpenAI, the plaintives that claimed that OpenAI used their articles in training data without proper attribution in making her ruling judge college manner said that the publisher could not show enough harm to ground their claims.
SHE allowed them to file a new complaint, but said he was, quote, skeptical that they could allega cognitive injury. Notably, the case was a little bit different to the new york times lawsuit. These plaintives were not alleging copyright infringement, but simply reproduction of the articles without copyright management information or cmi, the judge said.
Let us be clear about what's really at stake here, the alleged injury for which the plenty of truly secret address is not the exclusion of cmi, but the use of plentiful articles to develop ChatGPT without comment. Essentially, the judge said that this harm is not sufficient enough to justify the lawsuit. Still, the plaintives said they were confident they could address the concerns in court through an amended complaint.
OpenAI competitor mystery has launched a new A P, M. Meanwhile, for content moderation, powered by a fine tune version of their ministry A B model, the feature can be tailed to specific applications and safety standards. The model is trained to classify text in eleven languages, including french, german, arabic, japanese and korean.
He can identify harmful content across nine categories, including sexual hate, discrimination, violence, threats more in a blog post myr route. Over the past few months, we've seen growing enthusiasm across the industry and research community for new air base moderation systems, which can help make moderation more scalable and robust across applications. Following up on a previous story, filmmakers that lions gate are already using A I and are pleased with the result.
You might remember the back in september, lines gates signed a deal with runway to provide access to their generated video tools. The deal was the first with the major studio and regnie concerns about AI displacing film crew and talent. During this week's earnings call, motion picture chair adam focus said there were some questions when I was reported once we clarified for our filmmaking partners, for our talent partners, exactly what this was, how would be used, what IT is, IT is we've had great support and our file makers are using IT already.
C, E, O john fell, time are added. We believe that A I harness within the appropriate guard rails can be available to all deserve our and we believe that over the long term, IT will have a positive transformational impact on our business. Lastly, today, in a world first, google has used day I D to find a zero day exploit in widely use software.
Google claim to have found a vulnerability, and the S Q light opens our database engine with the help of a code auditing agent big sleep, in a blog post they wrote. We believe this is the first example of an AI agent finding a previously unknown exploitable memory safety issue and widely used real world software. Big sleep is a specifically trained to alem developed by google deep mind in projects zero divisions.
The blog continued. We think that this work has tremendous defensive potential. Finding vulnerabilities in software before it's even released means that there's no scope for attackers to compete. The vulnerabilities are fixed before attackers even have a chance to use them. Overall, lots of interesting stuff going on, but that is going to do for the headlines.
Next up, the main episode, today's episode brought you by van tab, whether you're starting or scaling your company security program, demonstrating top note security practices and establishing trust is more important than ever. Venta automate compliance for I S O twenty seven O O one soc two gdpr and leading A I frameworks like I S O forty two thousand one and N I S T A I rest management, saving you time and money while helping you build customer trust. Every single business workflow and function is being remade and reimagine with artificial intelligence. There is a huge chAllenge, however, of going from the potential of AI to actually capturing the value. And that gap is what super intelligence and is dedicated to filling super r.
Intelligent accelerates AI adoption and engagement to help teams actually use AI to increase productivity and drive business. An interactive A I use case registry gives your company full visibility into how people are using artificial intelligence right now. Pare that with capabilities, building content in the form of tutorials, learning path, ths and a use case library.
And super intelligence helps people inside your company show how they're getting value out of ai while providing resources for people to put that inspiration into action. The next three teams that sign up with one hundred or more seats are going to get free embedded consulting. That's a process by which our super intelligence team sits with your about the specific use cases that matter most to you and helps actually ensure support for adoption of those use cases to drive real value.
Go to be super diet. To learn more about this, A I enable ment network. And now back to the show. Welcome back to the daily brief. What are the really interesting phenomenon that we've been watching across the tech industry for the last couple years? Is the return to favor of the defense tech category.
Now companies that worked with the military in the past had been, for some time, effectively persona non Greta in silicon valley with some frequency UI employees rebellion reject when their companies like microsoft and google try to engage with the U. S. Government and the U.
S. military. But that is definitely started to shift. The success of companies like pantier and Andrea has has certainly been a part of that, but you're absolutely seeing IT interact with the world of A I as well.
The latest news on that front is that anthropic is partnering with plentier to provide cloud to the U. S. military. The way that this will work is that defendant intelligence agencies will have access via amazon's government aw s servers anthropic had of sales. Kate earl jensen said that the collaboration would allow the military, to quote Operationalize ed, the use of claude.
We, of course, just recently discussed the news that meta would be making their lama models available for defense as well. And part of what shifted seems to be the discourse represented in the White houses. Recent memorandum on A I national security IT appears, at least nominally, like the qualifications from that document have given leading A I labs more comfort with engaging with the U.
S. government. In this way, the integration into plentier platform will allow cloud to have access to classify documents for the first time has been clear for using systems that access information classified as secret, which is one step below top secret shi m.
Song car, the city of valentia, said our partnership with anthropic and A W S provides U. S, defensive intelligence communities the tool chain they need to harness and deploy A M model security, bringing the next generation of decision vantage to their most critical missions entered. Proud to be the first industry partner to bring cloud models to classified environments.
We've already seen first ten the impact of these models with IP in the commercial sector. For example, one leading american ensure automated a significant portion of their underwriting process with seventy eight A I agents powered by A I P N cloud, transforming a process that once took two weeks into one that could be done in three hours. We're now providing the same system tric I advantage to the U.
S. Government and its allies, anthropic jenson added. We're proud to be at the forefront of bring responsible AI solutions to U.
S. Classified environments, enhancing analytical capabilities and Operational efficiencies and government Operations. Access to claude with alenia on A W S will equip U.
S. Defense and intelligence organizations with powerful A I tools that can rapidly process and analyze vast amount of of complex data. This will dramatically improve intelligence analysis and enable officials in their decision making processes. As you might imagine, the big discourse around this is all about how IT does or doesn't interact with anthropic self perception and brand based best jeos rights if you're in A I safety pivoted AI offense in the bill corrus's rights.
Imagine telling the safety concern effective ultra founders of anthropic in twenty twenty one that a mere three years after founding the company, the'd be signing partnerships to deploy their around models strait to the military front lines, Daniel for gel rights and throat partners with talent tears. And you guys are still like, no, but this new G. I.
Labs is really all about the social good. These guys really care. Rather, no one is a choice in the arms race.
You ve got a signal virtue, android for power, both at the same timely total perceive penev Lance and raw A G, I capability must be pursued in tana. At E, C, M, T, B rights. It's so funny that anthropic is partner with plentier.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, let's go. E, A, C, C, cale's rights. Let's be real. It's being used for analytics.
I dislike thrown c being two faces much as the next guy, but this is a total nothing burger you see. In response, I should make my feelings clear. I don't falt anthropic for this.
I think it's based, and I think that you should be using IT for military and sign, and it's not going to powerpoint slides day in the CS o and enrapt competitor or OpenAI rights. Very promising. We need every advantage can get to improve our defensive and intelligence capabilities and to ultimately deter our adversaries.
Ies leveraging A I for D O D N I C chAllenges benefits us all peace through strength, not to be fair. And tropics terms of service are actually less restrictive than medders when IT comes to use in the defense industry. They already allow tasks including legally authorized foreign intelligence analysis, identifying covered influence or sabot campaigns, and providing warning in advanced potential military activities.
Anthropic also says they will quote Taylor, use restrictions to the mission and legal authorities of a government entity based on factors such as quote the extent of the agencies is willing ness to engage in ongoing log still hold all of that aside. And I think that what's clear is that american A I companies are going to be involved with american military establishment. This wasn't the only news we got from anthropic.
However, amazon is considering investing more in anthropic. Back in march, amazon completed a four billion dollar investment in anthropic, which notably required the start up to use A W S. For their compute according to the information.
This deal goes one step further quiring anthropic to use amazon developed training um chips to train their models. The problem, the information rights, is that anthropic prefers to use amazon servers powered by invidia design dye chips. They continue the size of amazon.
Total investment in anthropic could depend on the outcome of this discussion, specifically on the number of amazon chips, and anthropic agrees to use the information. Also, notes shifting to the amazon server chip could be technically chAllenging for anthropic because the amazon software that developers must use with the training um chips isn't as material and videos. Could a software such a move could also lock anthropic into using amazon training um servers, making IT more difficult for the A I start up to use other cloud providers or at least it's O N data centers in the future.
Right now, none of the details are confirmed. IT does appear that anthropic is out seeking another round of fund raising that could see the company valued at forty billion dollars. And just given the incredible high costs of competing, I would be surprised if we didn't get more news about that fund raising soon. But it's a good reminder that at the size and scale that anthropic s is now playing at, there are a very limited number of partners that can actually compete and fund them at scale. And with that, we close the days a ideally brief appreciate you listening or watching is always, and until next time, peace.
