Vision Pro stadiums, ‘Heartstrings’ ad, and holiday tech support

So we have kind of like a huge podgy of different stories and just general anecdotes to talk about this week. Now there's not been a whole lot of news, and we're still waiting on some news about maybe I O S eighteen point two.

But in the meantime, some smaller things and some personal stuff to talk about, I suppose, starting with apple's holiday ad for twenty twenty four this year, focused on airport's pro two and the hearing aid feature so that the video is called heart strings, and that shows a dad watching his daughter open up her Christmas presence, including opening a guitar. And SHE started to play the guitar. And then the audio cuts out, and you're kind of present with his perspective, or he's hard of hearing. Then the wife comes over, enhance him, his airports pro two, he puts him on hearing aid mode, cakes in. Then he can hear his daughter playing her new guitar on Christmas morning.

And he gets like flash bx to a life.

A really beautiful video. I think one of their best, probably their best in at least like the past five years or so.

Yeah, I agree with that. Some of them more recent holiday has been a bit old like they had that we d like stop motion. That's some od odd ones. They're that one with the they're skating through, I say.

But I I think IT was meant to be promoting like audio sharing for airports, right? But I was they just like movie around on on road states for a bit and ice skate. And then they were happy at the end theyve. That one, that one was twenty .

twenty two because in twenty seventeen, they did something kind of similar with airports, the first version of airports. And that one was really good. I really like that one.

That's where they had. Like the guy, like rolling around back flipping of staffing is just like implicity. The apples don't fall out. But around was a good one. The one last year with the senate was was old.

This ones pretty good. This ones really good. And I the hearing aid feature on airpower ds pro two is just such an obvious choice for the holiday ad. And I just think, absolute god, that they didn't make the holiday at a very apple intelligence that would have made me so mad.

Like you can just imagine the day like kids might in a Christmas like you exactly. And you know .

that that was at least mentioned by somebody inside apple as a possibility.

We got a big and and still doing that, you would point to release, I mean, I was a family last .

week for thanksgiving, and I got asked multiple times about what do you think of the apple intelligence features? And these are like my aunt, my grandma, my grandpa, older people who either use android or use like iphone six, like they don't know anything about the features, they don't care about the features, but they've seen those commercials, every commercial break for every football game, every basketball game, you'll see an apple intelligence commercial.

And it's working. I guess it's got people talking even though they arent. They aren't always saying positive things. And how are official intelligence and apple intelligence?

But I still see the phenomenon where people see those ads and then they update the phone, they see siri with the no design, and then they try ask IT like a ChatGPT question and IT just doesn't know what to do and he is over and this is bit h even unlike even like threads this morning there was someone who who had a um they were on like a website and they asked they typed a series, summarized this website.

And of course, IT has no one screen awareness right now you know promised and IT does not have the eighteen they want on eight point two so doesn't even get the thing where ChatGPT gets the context of what you're looking at. And so I just want like you have no new messages because you ask, you know, it's just a stupid system where they they thrown out so much marketing and they change the visual look of siri. So people assume that IT works differently and still IT most dozen when I think we day comes, at least you get the chat V T for back, which makes IT more um you know at least you going to get some days and answer or all in dead ends all the way. But I still think that's gonna ruin. The more because they missed their chance to make people's change their opinion of what like areas or right, and they always invite you to ask questions now that they can answer.

They made the reputation of siri in the intern, at least right now. Worse, I think, just because of the new design, and they hyped IT up so much, now people are just more disappointed. Like before people knew that syria would probably get things wrong. But now because theyve heard about apple intelligence, they expect theory to be Better even though none of those improvements are really coming until kind of starting with a team point to and more notably next year.

Yeah and the first the first swath of the advertising and with Better ramzy. One of those examples was asking them about the flight of the person that you that was a personal contact syria request, which there was an even baa right? And we don't expect to ship until like march, April time. And so they just really like IT was just a bad roll out.

A I the different other apple intel marking stuff is more feasible because all of the other features res, are I see shipping either already or writing point two, right? And it's quite clear that if you're doing an add for an image generation and your phone doesn't currently have the image generation upon IT is not and but a series of because IT falls over so many different rest releases and the front run, the the visual design is the first thing I just got the sequence or wrong um and i've had people asked me about appended to, oh, do you know what is this what going to do with that? And we know I know know you get the summaries and stuff is kind of cool, but just kind of chill out I think is like they are nice features.

And I respect about you know more ple weeks now because apple doesn't ep sharing about it's another way. Um but if they have kind of like soup to up to this big brand of applied intelligence, when you can almost and think of a different time when all of these features, these A I enhancements will just go out to all of the different apps and they will have this overrode king brand IT would be like, well now slightly bet because now summarized your messages in the last year or saari has summaries for this for the reading list and stuff like they're theyve oversee capitalized by trying to put into this overworking brand and maybe they did that to say maybe not. But the only thing I can really like hold into the stake against the siri roll out because they just fuming with that.

Um but the hearing age stuff is definitely resonating of people. I ve my my family who don't have anyone directly who has hearing just like that a good idea. I already like new their grandparents or their own parents that had hearing is in in the light, you know, maybe they just put an airport sometimes when that meals or ever and they wouldn't know bring with the hari stuff. Um so I think IT really IT really hits home. And it's very affecting the thing .

when people mentioned to me that they're most impressed by y is that you don't need like new airports to take advantage of IT. Like yes, you need airports pro two, but those have been on the market for over two years now. And I think I saw somebody say that the Better holiday ad would have been if the dad unboxed airports pro two and use the hearing eight, three children like amazed by a but I actually don't think that's the case because I think part of what apples trying to convey and the ad is, oh, these are just his existing air pod s pro. And they have this feature like he didn't need to get new airports s pro to use them because that is the most impressive part about the hearing aid and the hearing test features for airports pro.

And you can try to imagine that some of the intent is like they roll out for thanksgiving. People, families descend on each other for thankful ving. They know that your parents have already got airports to h and they have some sort here on.

So let's do the hearing test while around, you know and get IT going and stuff. And so that gives you a motivation. And then yeah is people always going have a lot of good will for a feature that doesn't cost additional and they can just use their exist in hardware for something so meaningful.

So I think they really not to have the part there because they could have easy change for, right? They didn't have to do IT for free and just found in they could to make a paid for addition. Uh, and they didn't so so good an apple for that stuff.

go for IT. So my grandma and my grandpa got told by spectrum that they now had free paramount plus, which is okay. That's great.

Like let's get you signed up for pyrmont plus. You can want survivor and everything else signing up and connecting those two accounts together with border line. impossible.

The first problem was my grandma. My grandma didn't. SHE apparently had signed up for a paramo plus trial at some point in the past, so I went to sign into her account.

SHE didn't have the password. SHE checked her post. That note of all our passwords wasn't on there. So we had to go through the password reset process, got in, logged into the spectrum account, went back to the paramount plus account and they're supposed to be like a connect of TV provider button. Wasn't there forever reason?

So what I did was I created a new account, locked in with that information, signed up for a free trial, so gave them mi credit card information. Then, of course, the linked to spectrum button appeared. So I linked IT to their spectrum account and cancelled the free trial and deleted my credit information. I don't know if there's some nefarious reason for that strategy like they want you to get credit information of the spectrum deal ever goes away, then they have a way to charge you.

But I think it's that and also if in the future they roll additional tears, you can just switch tears and start paying extra. Like if I can get you as part of the on boarding to have your credit code and file is available to them.

It's just something on on paper that sounds so good, like a free pair and plus. And once you get there and can I set up IT is good, but they make IT abstinence bly hard to actually get to that point. But I got there and they were happy about they're gna watch survivor from start to finish aren't.

What else up speaking on my grandma, I guess he uses a samsung android phone. And at some point they changed messaging apps, like some software that happened. And SHE had to switched using a new messages.

APP, oh my, okay, that's weird, but no big deal. And he couldn't figure out how to replace the old messages appi icon in her dock with the new messages appi icon in her dog, which is just a horrible, horrible design. Roll out by samsung just so you can use this happening more.

But we're also not going to like automatically replace IT or show you how to do that. So I showed her, I dragged the ipc con from whatever, like the same thing equivalent of the apple libraries to the homework reen, then to the dark. Easy enough. That was easy. Day after thanksgiving, I get a text for my apt who says the notes APP is no longer on my first tone page.

What do I do at first when he said something Better, notes APP, I thought he was talking about the ongoing bug where you update to OS eighteen and IT deletes all your notes and you have to go like reenact I cloud sink for the notes. No SHE just somehow accidentally deleted the out tap from a first phone screen page. And let me tell you the process of trying to explain how to take an icon from the up library, get IT on to your home screen, then drag IT when you have seven pages of apps all the way across to the first home screen page, doing explaining that process over text.

Not very fun, because this iphone is time. This is iphone. Sorry, this is my time. Not a very fun process to explain .

of a text and don't, okay, well, for a start, do not suggest people go to the up library if they want to take something, page one, to search for dragon from the search. It's easier that way.

I, I, I believe me. I tried SHE said I wouldn't show up in the search. He said that only shows up in the APP store.

And I said, I don't think that's true, but let's try the applied and IT was in the apple library. Yes, okay, it's definitely the search, but i'm not to not going to argue with her. She's friends to let's just get the apple icon from point a to point b.

Well, I guess is a pierced to people listening. If you want to get an icon on one page, your home screen, don't try and find IT on on your home screen. Just search for and then just strike out there if you if you want to know like on for IT so many times my family like H I can't find this happen anymore and like, you know, they just accepted like, you know some time door had IT in their pocket and their fingers are moved at night of the screen or Price hide, however.

And nowadays when you nowadays on the iphone, when not every icon sits on your homework reen because you have the apply, but you can hide entirely, you know you can require face I D for, you know, this stuff like the first porter col. That makes IT ways to just search for the name APP, and then just redrawn out and drop IT on the way you wanted to be. And do I O C teen, that doesn't even make a copy of any more.

Because on previous versions of I O S, you could have like multiple icons for the same APP by searching for and dragged out and extensively was a feature because you could have like focus modes of different pages enabled. But on our sixteen, they ve run on that. So now if you already have the icon summer on the home screen and you search for IT in, read that he just remove the other instance of IT. So you don't end up with copies if you just want to move an icon from one scary to the other, rather than fearing the refill of dragon IT from page to page search is way easier.

Then I think the last one, my grandpa asked me, he said, the colors on my TV in no longer look right. How do I adjust the colors? And I said, first of all, the colors look good, but okay, i'll show you had to adjust them.

I showed him, he said, okay, i'm going to play with this tonight. When I go back to his house for Christmas, I hadn't just weight and to see how bad he made that TV. Look, it's like every the joke is, everybody says, when you are your parents who your grandparents turn off motion smoothing on their TV. I think I just did basically the exact opposite. I opened IT up, gave him free rain, shows him how to just absolutely rule in the colors on his TV but if that's what he wants, I mean, that's that's what i've learned over the years, is like when somebody who is older, they aren't great with technology and they tell you how they want to do something nine times out of ten. It's just Better to say, okay, let me show you how to do that and they can they can go from there are not going to IT in an argument with him about why the color is a good or why he should changed this color and that color and turn off this setting but not that setting like i'm just give them the for your rain to do IT and let them figure IT out and you can help them but it's not worth arguing with them yeah I mean.

a lot of people just want the punchy, saturated look here. And there's no point, there's no point flying. You can IT look, want to do that.

I mean, apple conceded with photographic stars on the camera, right? They let you make a look over. You want have default, super saturated, like people just like how that looks.

And the the most nine year interpretation photographers like if it's brighter and colors are like more viBrant than that must be Better. So that's what the market link. In many cases, there's nothing wrong with that. Really late is not true to life but not looks. Um so yeah just just help people give what they want in the end of the day, no judgment.

I think the worst thing in the most frustrating thing that happens basically every thanksgiving, a Christmas gathered nowadays is maybe four, five years ago, my and uncle got a sound bar for their TV and they couldn't figure out how to set IT up. And they said, can you come by your house and help us? I said, sure.

I stopped by. For whatever reason, I couldn't figure out either. I just could not figure out how to connect the multiple parts together to get the sound from the fire stick and the TV itself with the cable box and all of that coming out of the sap.

I just can not figure out. So I said, okay, like I think they bought they just bought the samper from best buy. Best buy has like a pay us dollars and we will come out and set IT up, I suggest do that.

You'll figured out, i'm sorry. Now every gathering with them, somebody says, oh, he couldn't figure that sound bar out. So I don't know. Like all of the good things i've done for these people, and they all they remember is that I failed to properly set up a sound bar and just, I don't know, people are weird, you try to do so nice things for them. And the one time you can't figure out why there fifty dollar visio sound bar didn't connect.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. That definitely seems like apple has flick the switch and the automatic update system is in full for spring. Everybody, all of the lads, up to R, S, A, T, I even saw my mom's phone, uh, about a week ago, and I had the soft update screen, had a number one on IT.

But I was prompting her to indoor. I seventeen point seven point one. So the bike 7 and you know， IT says, you know, the software at screen now the iphone has a little like also available, little right at the bottom.

So at seventeen point, someone was like the big update now. And then they also available was I O C T fast ford a week. It's IT switched around and IT was prompted to install I O C T, even automatically the update to I C T point one at the weekend.

So SHE finally got on the R S S. A teen ban wagon. And you know what happened? May day after SHE updated, I nice weren't thinking.

oh boy, yeah.

So just what you talked about a few minutes ago, I had to debug the, 呃， all the notes. Not is not even just not thinking is like they will go, they will vanish, right? So you over the notes happen is like the text mech is my notes of all go to help. So we actually got to use the um face time feature, the new screen sharing thing where you can take control.

I should try that.

And I was go here, go you and sure enough, just as I wrote in my how to go a month ago to exactly find, but I can't I can't can't believe that this box to exist like sure, this be inflicting, afflicting so many customers of the update and is not clear what you want to do about IT if you don't know the solution, right? But a month on, it's still happening. So you have point one, point one, all the notes disappeared. Go in the saying, you know, top the switch, go back to notes, wait a little bit, and then all the notes come back like fine. Um so we got over the bug and then we SHE had a nice experience with the photos .

You can long press on an empty space, but you can also long press on icon. And eventually they start figuring, right, to keep hold down.

He shows that menu first, but you keep holding and they will will start. SHE was doing that in control center. But in control center, if you hold down on the top, IT doesn't do that.

Then he closed the control and and reopen IT with the biggest swipe, I think he has ever done. And of course, what does that do? IT opens the second page, you know, because pages e, because if you swipe down to aggressive, you go to the center, what are these page? You can get rid pages.

I don't care. I don't. So anyway, we maybe another time i'll get right, okay, to delete you the page. Uh yeah so that was her first encounters with um I O A teen and I was said, my brother update to I S A teen not so many days ago and his complaint was White, the blue to buried in the connectivity menu in control and how do I get the blue teeth out so I could have solved my own famous problems twice in the last week by designing my own hotel. Of course I give me the personal service and then you .

send them a bill for right yes but .

yeah that definitely seems like they finally to fit the switch and everyone's getting everything now whether they want IT or know.

are they going straight to eighteen point one? I guess yeah.

them because remember tim cook during the earnings call last month, I guess I O S eighteen point one was being adopted like three times faster than I was seventeen point one was last year or something. And I kind of assumed at the time that they were already being aggressive. With that, we're going to automatically update you think.

but I guess not. Or maybe I saw what to tell because like apple doesn't say right at least I like my friend, i've had other friends also say they have been update to our eighteen in the last few days, however. So IT feels like after IT was after the tim cook statement that yeah started doing IT. So maybe people .

are just champing at the bit to get a point. Well.

I think maybe last year, they didn't push push IT either. So maybe equivalent compares is like people yeah people are actively updating when he did that way. And now everyone are getting forced.

They were enforced and IT was a lot easy to track at some point because you know few years ago, the system would basic just aggressively push whatever new update was out. But it's definitely they have changed IT. So your your default date, your deal automatic update is just the I S no n minus one bug fix versions for a while. Um and the the new version the new major version goes into that also available second in the bomb, which if you have either a big tax size or a small screen phone doesn't even show you've to scroll down to see IT. So it's is buried until they finally you know make their mind up and then IT becomes the main the main section, which I think is finally happened.

So we're still waiting on I O S, A eighteen point to R C. That'll be the final data before the updates actually released to the public. I was expecting the I O eighteen point two R C on tuesday or maybe yesterday, but we still don't have IT.

And the expectation is it's gonna be released to everyone next week. That's a pretty quick turnaround time from our sea to general release, we'll see. But in the meantime, couple of small things from apple first robot vacuum support in the home APP, which wasn't in any of the I S.

Eighteen point two beta. So we should have known that I wasn't coming this year. Apple updated website to say coming later this year to early twenty twenty five.

This is the ability to add smart robot vacuum to the home map, add them to your scenes in your automation. Start and stop them with syria. All that good stuff. Not until next year, after all.

Yeah and these these are the matic a about a one yes, home k self never wrote out support for vacuum in agrees and IT doesn't really matter too much. The software st support has been the later next year because I i'd love someone to link me a matter of smart vacuum as SHE exist right now, like I don't think they exist. So doesn't really matter if the home doesn't support IT. But they did before before in the year and they have they pushed him back. So I probably be in like acting point three or something .

quiet next year. You've mentioned wanting to get a smart vacuum once matter one's are available. But so I trust that you've been keeping .

I have a look in the most recent few weeks, but at least when the you know in the summer when I I was promised to people and that this is bigger to time to get one you know get IT clean my floors downs, irs and stuff. So I don't think you can buy one right now that can actually do that, that is not comparable. So maybe there will be by the time I was sitting, put whatever comes up with IT, but i'm not holding .

The other thing that uh apple quality update the website with this week was removing all references to the other screensaver er they announced for T V S eighteen point two right before. And both the snowy ece screens silva and the apple originals like monto screens save a was announced later this year as part of T V R eighteen and TV stated.

Point two, as we look about has the story peace screen safer in IT now IT does not have the aboriginal screen silver in IT and IT may be that that feature is cancelled entirely because apple is deleted all references to the apple originals T, V screen sava from its website. I used to say like snoopy originals coming late this year, they just removed all references to the original as one. So only mention IT doesn't say it's been coming next year, right? It's just completely delayed. So they might have given up on IT, which is kind of sad because I was not looking afford to no one see.

I wasn't really looking forward to that one because I just sounds like a glorified advertisement. I mean, I guess.

I guess IT depends if they did IT tae or not, right? Like you so many of up like apple original als, if they just going to show like clips from. And something well, yeah, then it's just a big ad, but I was kind of hoping IT would feature like just cool scenery so you can be like areas. But for the aboriginal content, some of the nate documents, just after super high quality 4k content， they look amazing, like just have little like thirty second club from them playing slowly, whatever, and like scenery or like the travel shows stuff. And no, it's maybe like, so if if I shot and so I thought that kind of way, they were going with IT obvious ly IT never actually materialized that we can never save sure um but I could have been taken but I think they might be teasingly but as IT is when i'm onna find out because they got ready of scraped IT seems .

what have been called to have a screen shot that was a screen savor that I was just an arial view of like the fc richa stadium maybe but it's a five. It's a fine in line to walk. It's really weird for that feature .

of all things to be scrap though the producers didn't very odd. I was very od mini quote this .

Yeah, the march time mine has always has seemed a bit ambitious, I think, for an entirely new product category that has not really been leaked a whole lot yet. So a delay is not out of the question, but I would I would wait for more sourcing to find out exactly what's happening.

Mark also said that he would rely heavily on the apple tense, apple intelligent stuff coming all, but we think that's come out in more like April, which point four. And so he always stands a bit that the smart just play staff would launch in march because I wouldn't be ready. But equally, theyve launched loads of stuff that is quite, quite boot rapper intelligence before the office is ready for us.

They could have done IT, but right now seems to be suggesting like june W W C kind of time frame will say, I kind of think that is, is a kind of product they could announcing margin doesn't ship to june, right? Like they they don't have any precious to not announced early or something. So if they if they are inro's ced the happen stuff around the spring, maybe this is like the hero product for IT.

And they can like building out around that and try get developer evanishing um to to actually doped APP intense. And then they ship IT in the summer when some other P S actually supporting IT. And I guess.

But I think you're right that the abundant stuff is the big unknown. I kind of feel like you can't launch this product without there. Just if you really want you to be the apple intelligence powerhouse home command center that has been reported as being tim cook school, I kind of feel like you can't launch without that. But like you said, they've done crazy and kind of stupid or things before. So i'll see.

So we talked about your new car 没有， and you had some small quibble with car play, and particularly how car play audio would automatically resume when you got in the car. And you've put in the show note here that you may have found a solution to this.

Well, listener been actually messages saying, I have the same problem. I figured out no change to fix the problem. And basically he has a personal automatic in the short csp that when car play connects, which is one of the automatic trigger, you can choose the do action is stop audio.

Oh, that's not enough. That simple enough. And I did use IT the other day, and IT did seem to work. So IT doesn't m kind of stupid that you have for the self a short cal imation to stop planning audio that if medi plays, uh, but at least right now is working.

I do have question Marks in my head that like, is there gonna a weird timing thing here where sometimes the the automation will run before the audio started playing, so let the audio end up still playing because IT happens afterwards. Uh, but at least i've only done IT twice so far, but at least on other occasions IT did work. So that does seem to work.

then your car maker of choice hund. I did an interview, uh, the the executive oap sea oil did an interview with inside evs where he was asked about hone's commitment to car play going forward. And his explanation was both good and bad. He basically said that right now, hunters focus is giving people all of the options as the market moves towards the future. And then he kind of pivoted into saying, in a few years time, something even Better than car play that we don't know exist right now could be the future and be available. So in contrast to G, M, which which abandoned car play for all of its evs, while in the process of building its own infotainment in car system, promising that eventually IT would be Better than car play undies, ed, at least waiting until that second piece is ready before ditching car play. At least that's how I read this doesn't instill a whole lot of confidence but at least IT should mean that if you buy a hunt I like mao did within the next few years, they'll get car play after that, who knows?

Yeah I think the same comments you made about other manufacturer apply here. Uh, I can understand why manufacturer want to differentiate, diversify and roll out their own stuff doesn't really doesn't necessary um mean they are going to be good at or succeed, right? But I can understand where the matter matters are coming from because they don't want to be low car providers and lose and seed all of the U.

I. To android or apple car play, because apple one and and google, eventually my size of screens and the manufacturers wants to get their own motivation. And that, you know, especially like G, M.

And staff before they trying to get scription services associated and attached to carpet is and to limit success so far. But you can see why they wanted try and purse because input taints clearly the the easiest vessel to do that. But you need good software to make that happen and make customers happy and doesn't seem like on baLance is happening so far.

Uh, so at least time that is not like tomorrow we're going to drop car play and all out some other thing. I like we probably thinking about that, but we don't have actually a solution right now. So I guess that's fair.

Actually, apple has actually put some effort in apple music play this year, surprisingly. So the big change with apple music play is that now you can view your replay twenty twenty four recap right in the music APP. So before there will be a tile in the music APP and check out your replay, you tap IT and IT bounce you to saari for most time.

You'd have to resign in with your apple account, then view your replay. Not the case this year. Just tapped IT brings up a really nice in APP.

Don't call IT a web view, but it's a web view interface to a view call. IT really nice. See, apple music replay gets a lot of flag and in past years write fully.

So this interface is not perfect and it's clearly a web view, but a solves the problem of having to sign in again to view that information. yep. And b, what do people think spotify rap is? It's based that all of the spotify APP is kind of a web view like spotify is interface is not great.

I feel that you can tell more though with the apple music.

One is just I don't know what about you, but the apple music replace very lugging the framework is not great and you can like tapper and you feel IT feels a bit cluny is is Better than when I used know the old previously reply bumpy out for login again to music apple to were loaded now IT can I move across your credential? But even just the fact that has like the stack title to talk with a close by any, can you not just integrate like a bit more native and screen experience cover all something you White title, the top is White. Better uh, than what they did off before. But I could still be IT doesn't quite of the final finest the I would live in today。

The close button is the problem for sure, because you'll be looking at something and there's the close button, the upper left corner, there's a small x below the tab bar in the right corner.

Your instinct is just a click the close button and think that i'll take you back to like the main apple music play home page that takes you back directly to the apple music APP you need to click the x button in the right hand corner and that kind of messes with your navigation instincts, I think. But yeah, IT is a lot Better. I will give them out.

And people don't like the spot of five one and shaft. Some reason IT doesn't seem like IT people seem upset about a few different things. So they're upset that spotify seemingly released later for no reason about a week later than they usually do.

Apparently, spotify took away some of the recap data on things like john s and giving you the like before they would give you like specific titles for your your favorite, generous and what they thought that meant for you. And the overall amount of data they have given this year is apparently quite a bit less like they have the same sort of instagram story style navigation system that upper music replay has. And I saw a screen shot of somebody showing last year spotify wrapped head like ten or twelve different slides that you could tap through. And this year they only have six.

We had more like the apple music for him.

Yeah, yeah. The response seems to be that they focus a lot on A I, because they added the notebook L M podcast thing, where can generate a podcast of the two hosts talking about your music taste. People don't seem to like that.

They show horn some AI in in other ways that people don't seem to like. And the generalist consensus that i've seen that people think everything else was rushed and they focus too much on A I. And people just want like as many different ways to to view their data as possible, play less easy, waste, easy way to share things.

And that's not what spotify rapped to focus on this year. We'll see how that pans out in the long run. But for the first time ever, as an apple music user, you don't necessarily feel inferior for having the apple music play experience instead of the .

spot I rap experience. Yeah, I mean, it's taking him several years. They close the group a lot compared they did. They used to have nothing and then they did the website thing that was very primitive, that they improve the website thing. And now up to this space where you can actually see the website would have to log in again.

And and they keep adding new um like metrics and stats too, like the at more listening streets this year and you get like top five hundred, top of thousand years as well, top up one hundred and like that at first place and they built out bit um but I was a bit disport just that was quite lugging and the frame I was in is Better on the laptop I guess on the phone, on the ipad, the framework bit later. I doesn't feel this me should be really I I may roll out a replay for artists you know the apple music for which is like create on the platform. You can like see your stats that way.

They also have a thing that generates replays that you can then share on social media like talk about your top city, you are total minutes, your number, terror lessons and stuff. So they they brought out to um this time around it's nice that they've got met him I ve been used to support of one but I think IT partly sounds like people that just hate I I stuff in general just yeah back out in force you know tonight say anything has the word I I exit sock but the last time is the spot for rap one I still think IT was slightly bad and the only one but is that the gap is closing so okay. I put some credit for that and I would not i'm still waiting for the time when they couldn't quote, show on A I into the home, but I don't think that means not going to do IT IT coming。

Tech crunch has a story where they say the general consensus of spotify rapped twenty twenty four is that it's boring, it's a flop, it's underwhelming and it's a disappointment. So that's one way of put in.

But what might do catch shop is for your main compared to stop scaring.

Yeah, that's true. You can also, I always remember, and I always disapointment time year when I remember that apple music play does not count content stored in o'clock music library, which I have a bunch of stuff stored, a bunch of live albums, so that doesn't count.

I have been corner quote scrubland my music listening this year with last FM, and I haven't looked at the early reports for last F I don't know if they actually become available until the actual end of the year, but i'll be curious to see how the data compares considering last F M tracks everything. An apple music play only tracks apple music and IT still seems like an apple music replay has some bizarre I don't know that database corks are something like my sister. Her apple music replay has been wrong every year for as long it's been available like this year at her this year and said her top artist was Taylor swift.

T and SHE listened to like twenty five minutes of IT SHE obviously listen to a lot more tailors with that and there's other artists on that list that she's literally never listen to. So she's I think she's so frustrated with the fact that her up music play doesn't work that she's thinking about watching spotify. So then finding .

mispronounced a bunch of things in the next segment because that's what's going to happen. There's a report in a spanish news outlets saying that apple is in talks to upgrade a sports stadium for live vision pro immersive video. So this comes via real madrid president fLorentino Perez, who said that his club is having ongoing negotiations with apple.

And right now, real madrid famous santiago bernabo stadium is in the midst like a big transformation, a big overhaul. And one of the problems that we're trying to address is that the stadium real regularly runs out of capacity, so more people want to see the games than they're able to accommodate. So breath is that he is in talks with apple about a system to solve this.

So his quote is everyone wants to come to santiago burnt about and that's why we are negotiating with apple to be able to wear glasses and watch the match as if you are at the stadium IT would be the infinite santiago burn about doesn't go in any more details about what exactly that means that the actual state of the negotiations. But you can read between the lines and see he's clearly referring to at least something to do with vision pro. And I think IT makes a lot of sense to kind of go out and sign these deals and bring equipment and apparently permanent equipment to stadiums to live stream sporting events. Then you could also live stream other events to take place at that stadium and go from there instead of one of things at different stadiums. I think that strategy makes a lot of sense.

It's also very easier for them to do like yeah terms to get to market if you have like what is essentially a fixed virtual like spectate. So that one see in the stadium is now like missive viewpoint. You just need like two cameras in that one slaw. You can just have a little less with with cameras inside and then IT streams of the video directly connected via wire to the service, which thinking rebroadcast by apple, if you want to do live even, is way easier to do that than having like the twelve cameras out that they do for like their little immersive video clipsed of different shots and different positions.

And you don't need like a camera permanently over the goal line, guessing people's way, and like you don't need to add out all the background only on the once, like the camera around you after cut and rear and have like Operators and management if you do for like you know Normal life T V broadcast. If you just have like fix stationary camera, you can get like the immersive viewpoint as if you were there in the stadium. You don't have like overseas, you lose the up close feeling, right? And you not like directly on the on the page, but you can see in terms of practically how apple could make those stadiums and then you'd probably have to like buy a ticket or something to watch them and then is kind of done like is the the technical requirement way, way, way reduced to have like a you know one eighty degree viewpoint from a fix position in the stadium verses life coverage of a match a like we've seen in a little thing, yes, which are already good.

But clearly they struggle to produce them and edit them on time. Could that takes month and months and months this you could just almost ship as is like you doesn't need in you could always be destroyed live video of the camera um and give people the ambiance maybe watch the game uh and it's and IT would remove all of the motivation or incentitive people to buy tickets to go to the stadium, right? Because it's only from one camera go you can move around or anything.

So IT doesn't really impact inge on the you know the the marketing the of the incentives of the of the teams of the stadium, all of the broadcasters of traditional T, V, right, because you're get in different camera angle. So I can really say IT being practical, workable. There is some the other stuff which is more like playing the sky and like kind need negotiation rights to be arranged, like the club level or the the league level. This is just like we just show a camera in the stadium recorder and IT seems like it's got much easier pulse to being viable.

And of course, you could charge twenty dollars to watch a match live word, every need to do to make some money. My biggest hope with this is that they do IT at multiple stadium, so they do IT. I like, you could see them doing IT IT medicine square garden here in the united states, where you could watch the new york next, next play, but then you can also watch all the concerts and everything that happened at that stadium. IT just becomes like a fixture of that stadium. Anything, or almost a new thing that happens, a medicine square garden you can put on your vision pro, pay twenty dollars and watch that event like that's a really compelling strategy.

Yeah I know what the rights what the rights are involved surely like the actual performance would have to agree on stuff um if you have many sports former can allow people to watch that. You this I think it's you can can there's still question Marks and things to be answered, but it's it's a way easier route to actually giving product a live product to vision pro customers than needing full of negotiations and billions of the spend on, you know league rice like the N F L, for instance. Um just a degree with the stadium.

IT doesn't be every game, but some games you can just like portal in and you get a little window into the world as if someone was sitting there with a phone from a specific seat, but you get in higher ise A K cameras and you get like hundred Green field of you. And obviously that means when you left and right, you probably others of fans and coping along a cheering, you don't going to be on the pitch. But it's gonna easy if you paid for you to go said that um so I think IT makes a lot sense and I can you can kind of see how A D Q could get those deals done, right? Where is reproducing what they do in for like the four minutes of the no baseball, the basketball game, for instance? why? How to get rights for and also to produce on a day basis? Because IT just requires some much more manpower, so many more cameras. This would just be like fixed position view point.

And IT goes back to what we've been saying this whole time about vision pro immersive video, where apples kind of suffering from the perfection is the enemy of progress thing, where they want every piece of immersive video to be perfect and fall less and as many different one hundred and eighty degree field of view shots as possible, perfectly edited, perfectly stitch together, which obviously cuts down on the number of pieces of content you can release and slows down the release of that content.

Like the four minutes inside the super bowl, coming out six months after the super bowl or the invite NBA all star, we can think coming out six months after the invite all star, we can actually happen. This is a great way just to increase the amount of content and create content that I think is some of the most enticing stuff to watch on vision pro, which is sports and maybe concerts, another live events like that, and just make that content available. Show off the practical how the platform can actually be used.

And then you go from there. You continue perfecting the technology. You can maybe eventually you would do add multiple different angles for these live events, but you gotta start somewhere.

Did you watch that weekend when they did recent? Because I think we spoke about.

no, I did watch the weekend. One IT was fine. I mean, it's exactly what you would expect based on the tea elsewhere.

I don't care for the weekends music. I think I don't dislike IT, but it's fine. I haven't watched the concert for one thing yet, which sounds more up my ally than a weekend music video. It's honestly probably a good thing, though, that I feel like i'm behind on a mercy video because that means they're is a mercy video to watch and hasn't always been the case.

The stuff that they have released though really makes you just want more of IT like give me a concert for one with cold player edge share and or somebody like that be over the yes, yes, IT makes you want things for the artist that you like like he doesn't have to be cold play, but like you just want as many different other choose from as possible. And hopefully eventually we get to that point where you open either the T V upper or the music up on vision pro. And this year, the world is your oyster.

There's concert for once from everybody. That's the end goal, but we'll get there someday. And I think we are making material progress towards that goal.

Oh, one other vision pro anecdote is I had IT with me when I was visiting family and I was okay. Have you guys heard about this apple vision pro headset thing? And they don't really say anything.

I say that thing that cost thirty five hundred dollars. Like, do you really want to strap something to your face and blow, blah, blah? I'm call like, yes, it's expensive.

Yes, it's kind of the design is not lighted ight like it's a version one product, but it's prety cool. I mean, to have IT in my car if you want to try IT dead silence. Nobody, nobody wanted a thanksgiving division pro demo, and I can't believe that I was so excited. I shouldn't know Better, I guess, but I was excited because I don't have the chance to give many demos and my day to day life like we don't really have people s but for many people.

the ten minute demo is the best time they have, have revision Price, never find you useful in day life, but enjoy the five minute you mosier video. Rail, for instance, says, unfortunately, that no one was interesting.

Maybe IT wasn't, maybe IT wasn't the target audience, but i'm going to try again. I'm going to take IT at Christmas when i'll see more people and say.
